For the business lunch I was on, Spot was, well, spot on. The airy, bright interior and long booth seating offered just the right landing pad for our hungry appetites. With no reservations, my lunch mate and I were immediately escorted to our table for 2. Despite the busy crowd, we didn't wait at all.
Around us, slightly glamourous men and women ate their salads (of which you'll find a nice selection) and I went for Monday special of beef stew rice, beans, manioc flour, plantain and fried egg (this dish essentially defined my Brazilian visit as I found myself ordering it everywhere). A caipirinha followed... and then another. A hip spot like Spot makes it easy to want to drink and chat and give yourself to the Brazilian way.
The wait staff was also adorably chic and I quickly realized this place must hop at night. And so it does, confirmed my lunch companion, "it's full of gay men at night." Well, sounds like a well-rounded spot to me.
