⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ — Spotted Horse Tavern, Shelton, CT Stopped in at the Spotted Horse Tavern and overall had a great experience. The vibe is warm and inviting, the drinks list is solid — though my martini, which I asked for on the rocks, came otherwise (minor hiccup, but hey, we move on). Food? They nailed it. The steak was perfectly cooked, juicy, and seasoned just right. The Brussels sprouts were crispy and flavorful, and my kid devoured their burger like it was the best thing on the planet. Dessert sealed the deal — the tiramisu was rich and dreamy, the flan was silky perfection, and the hint of coconut put it over the top. Honestly, dessert alone is worth the trip. Bottom line: even with the martini mix-up, I’d recommend Spotted Horse Tavern. Great food, great atmosphere, and some desserts you’ll still be thinking about the next day. Lol do miss out on happy hour half on drinks and appetizers.

I walked in the door, through the curtain and was greated with a smile. I asked to sit at the bar and lucky for me, there was 1 seat left at the bar, music playing at a comfortable volume in the background and the bar was an impressive looking bar with backlit bottles and a great selection. JESS is one of the bartenders that welcomed me with an amazing smile and personality. She was inviting and very attentive. I didn't put her skills to the test by ordering a craft cocktail, but she was prompt and got my beer without delay even as busy as it was. Normally, I would take pictures of the food, but quite honestly, I didn't feel like it so you're going to have to take my word for it. As far as the food, it was amazing! I ordered raw oysters which were absolutely perfect, the eggplant appetizer from the happy hour menu which was equally as good. For dinner I ordered the pork chops and I couldn't believe how tender, juicy and flavorful the pork chop was. Well done spotted Horse. It was a cold December day, but they have an outdoor area that looks really fun for food and drinks during the summer months. I guarantee you won't be disappointed when you try this establishment. Oh and one more thing, live music in the evening too! Freaking awesome!

I had the nachos so I really can’t speak on the food as of yet. I was really there for drinks. The ambience and the atmosphere was great This is definitely a place you can go and chill and have a drink a nice appetizer next time I’m trying to brussels sprouts. they had live music however someone said that they also have a Dj this place is definitely worth checking out if you in ct

Fun place. Loved the specialty holiday martinis. Food was good. Decent size menue. Friendly staff. Can accommodate large groups.

Beautiful spot in Shelton. Love the ambience in the place. Parking a bit challenging. Super friendly staff. Great servers. Food I would say 4.5 (wish that was an option) steak bites, excellent. Yummy fries! Brussel sprouts - fantastic, the mediterranean salad was pretty good, falafel were nice and fresh ' just not as flavorful as I would have liked. Eggplant starter was so good. We will definitely be back💞💞💞

If I could rate higher than 5 stars, I absolutely would! Our waitress Sarah was more than inviting to us, and gave us THE BEST food recommendations I’ve ever received at a restaurant. To top it all off, her attitude and customer service was beyond amazing. I would absolutely recommend anyone to come here for a special occasion, or just a normal Wednesday night dinner with no hesitation.

I have been to the Spotted Horse on numerous occasions. The food and service have always been very good. I received a gift card for the Spotted Horse for the holiday. I went to the restaurant and used my Spotted Horse giftcard. When I received the bill, there was an extra charge tacked on for non cash payment. The gift card was already paid for, but as a patron, I was told I had to pay this additional small charge. I questioned the person at the register and was told yes, for noncash payments there is a charge. Response was given with a smirk. I decided to look up CT law on this added charge. This is what I found. Yes, in Connecticut, it's generally illegal for a restaurant to charge an extra fee (a "surcharge") for using a gift card or credit/debit card, as it's considered an added cost for a specific payment type, but they can offer a discount for paying with cash, as long as it's clearly posted and the actual price shown is the higher one. A restaurant can't list a lower price and then add a fee, but they can list a standard price and offer a percentage off if you pay with cash. Maybe the wording that the restaurant uses is their work around for charging every customer using a credit card or a gift card. CT Restaurant Industry · Haley Rentsch · June 22, 2024 · Hi All! I want to preface by saying that I work for Toast POS as a local sales rep, but my goal of this post is to educate local restaurant operators about a topic that is becoming more popular. This is not a sales pitch! I've seen some posts here recently about credit card surcharging, which is NOT legal in CT. We are 1 of 4 states where it is illegal to surcharge. This means that you cannot add any sort of "service" or "convenience" fee to your customers bill if they are paying via credit or debit card. Technically you can offer a cash discount so long as you follow certain guidelines. Mastercard, Discover and Visa (in particular) are cracking down on illegal surcharging and imposing hefty fines for restaurants who are caught doing so. By hefty I mean upwards of $25k. I have never left a review but after leaving the spotted horse, I had to!! The food was out of this world! I had the sweet potato power bowl. So so delicious. Someone else in our party had Thomas’s vegetable Sparta. We got Brussel sprouts and the corn muffins for apps. Yum yum yum!!! Atmosphere was great with a large fire on a chilly windy day.
