Google
Fabulous attraction in Kauai, a magnificent view of water spouting from lava rocks with a horn sound! Joy to watch nature’s wonderful scene.

Chris N.

Google
Our flight didn’t leave until 2100 hours so we decided to see a few sights we hadn’t gotten a chance to see and the Spouting Horn was one of them. It wasn’t exactly what we were expecting but it was fun to see. Just so happen a tour bus arrived there the same time we did, so we had to wait to get as close as you can to the spouting horn. But even with the tour bus there were not too many people. You do have to stand on a cement platform with a metal pole fence around it so you can’t get too close to it. There also were public restrooms at the location.

Google
Very cool little spot with great views of the spouting horn blow hole. Really fun to watch and a free activity.

Google
A visit to the Spouting Horn is not to be missed it's beautiful and picturesque here with lovely views of the ocean and the geyser like blowhole in Kauai. It's not the biggest I've seen but it's still nice to see nature at it's finest....I guess it does depend on time of day and see conditions to get the greatest impact of the pounding of waves. Ample parking spaces at parking lot along with clean restrooms, you may also see lots of roosters and chickens here roaming free.

Janaya P.

Google
This was an awesome spot to hang out and watch for awhile. My children loved it, if you have a drone, great location for it. Plenty of parking, picnic tables.

Sway A.

Google
Great view of the ocean and a solid spot for whale watching so bring your binoculars. Also fun seeing/hearing the oceans crash into the horn and creating a rainbow. Plenty of space to sight see and watch the sunset as well. Public restrooms available, and plenty of parking available.

Google
Nice short stop on Kauai. Enjoy the view and the sound this blowhole makes.

Google
This is a must see if you've got a car you're driving around the islands to see the famous spots waterfalls caves or whatnot. Definitely go though during high tides you can have the best show of the global. Went in the mid-afternoon and we had some pretty good photos we took. Don't forget to look off the right side also for the waves come in it crashes beautifully all night crusted shore. See my photos and videos of both of them.😍🤩

Yelp
Decided to check out the Spouting Horn since it was close to Poipu Beach. There is a parking lot as well as an area to enjoy a picnic. The color of the water is beautiful and it was interesting to see the water come through many of the blow holes. A nice area to enjoy the coastline.

Yelp
On our last day in Kauai, we made the drive out to Spouting Horn in Koloa. There was plenty of parking available in the lot, which made things easy. The short walk to the viewing area was worth it--the breeze was refreshing and the view was stunning. Everyone around was polite and patient, taking turns to snap photos and videos of the spout, which made the experience even more enjoyable. There are tables available if you want to bring lunch, but be mindful of the ever-present Kauai chickens roaming around. A quick stop, easy access, and beautiful scenery--it's definitely worth visiting while on the island.

Yelp
A quick stop but a must see (IMO) if you are in the Poipu area. Not too far from the Koloa area. The Spouting Horn blowholes are accessible through a small park. -Plenty of parking. -Tons of chickens. -Picnic tables are also available to use if you want to spend more time there. -Very close to Poipu Beach. -Public restrooms are open. The blowholes are glorious wonder of nature that provide endless views as the tide rolls in and out. Stayed to watch the spout activity for about 10 minutes. Long enough to capture a couple beautiful photos and video.
google avatar

Yelp
Worth the trip. But it's a short visit! Parking and a sidewalk to the fenced off area. No hiking involved or allowed. If a rough sea... super spouts, but in a calm day there is still some action.
google avatar

Yelp
Sunday, 8/03/2025 - Checked out Spouting Horn. Pretty cool. Beautiful view. Lots of parking, bathrooms & picnic tables. You can look at the sea water rush out of the holes. Pretty cool. Lots of little spouting holes to the right too. Saw a turtle and fish swimming. This is free and easy. No playground. No bbq pits. Not much shade. Windy. So hold onto your hat. I like this.

Yelp
This was a fun little stop and short drive from our condo. There's currently some construction on the road and some equipment being stored near here. It wasn't extremely crowded while we were there and you don't need to spend a ton of time here. There's ample parking available. Legend has it when this was formed, a giant lizard or mo'o got caught inside of it, and that's what the "moan" is when the blowhole goes off. It's a cool thing to see if you're in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it again.
google avatar

Marilyn D.

Yelp
A nice drive on the less crowded side of the Island. Beautiful spot. Plenty of parking, restrooms and beautiful
google avatar

Lea C.

Yelp
It's a must see when visiting Kauai- about 25 mins from the cruise port and most tours make a quick stop here. The baby chicks were a bonus. Restrooms onsite - husband said 'they weren't terrible' lol Cool natural feature!!!
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Fun, quick stop! Cool to watch nature in action. Easy parking, restrooms and picnic tables.
google avatar

Kyoo C.

Yelp
Nice clean small park setting with parking and restroom. Short distance from the Koloa area, so it works perfectly for bringing to go food to sit at the table to munch away while having live show of spouting water beyond the folks standing at the fence which has the closest views of course. Seems some were disappointed at the lack of spouting here. We happened to be there on a good wave day, since there were plenty of powerful waves slamming and spouting to be seen, so maybe it'll depend on the conditions. Either way, meal and a show is always a winner in my book
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Nice little spot for a quick 5-10min pit stop. I would recommend coming at high tide so that the effect is more dramatic. Glad I stopped by, but wouldn't necessarily make a trip out of it unless you were already planning on being in Poipu. Restrooms available.
google avatar

Ron R.

Yelp
Driving the coast, this wasn't my choice to follow the signs and find out what a spouting horn was. But luckily along the way we did discover where one of Kauai's best botanical gardens was located. Like many other reviews, it's just a hole in the rocks shooting water up in the air as the waves crash in. People spend probably five minutes here, take a pic, use the nearby restroom, and leave. Here's a classic song from Young MC on how I felt after coming here: "I'm shovin' off like an ocean liner No one can rock the microphone finer East, west, north, South Carolina" Done!
google avatar

Diana K.

Yelp
Really fun and quick place to stop by. It's easy to park, then just walk left to see the waves shooting up through the lava rock! Super fun to watch and makes for a great photo op
google avatar

Jeanette Y.

Yelp
We stopped by this place because it was near a beach but I would not recommend going out of your way to come here. Lots of parking in their lot with bathrooms. It's about 2-3 min walk from the lot to the fenced area to see the spouting horn. The reason I wouldn't recommend going out of the way is that is a bit underwhelming. Probably stayed a total of 15 mins here to see if we could see anything bigger. The view is nice and there are a couple of tables near the fenced/viewing area but there are so many people there that it wouldn't be relaxing eating there. You can not access the water beyond the gate so again, you wouldn't spend too much time here.
google avatar

Kara B.

Yelp
Good scenic spot to check out the spouting horn. Lots of parking available along with picnic areas and bathroom.
google avatar

Catherine D.

Yelp
Cool quick stop after a costal drive. There are restrooms. We left after just over 5 mins.
google avatar

Katie G.

Yelp
Take a couple minutes and stop. Park the car. Get out. Enjoy the cool horn, watch the water, and hear the horn. Then go back on with your day
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
We were early for a dinner reservation and decided to keep driving along the coast. Stumbled into this nice quick little gem. Easy to find and a parking lot right in front of it (left side of parking lot is reserved for buses). Once parked it's about 100 yards to a fence. You can see on both sides the spouting Horn, we heard the howling of the horn on a few of the wave crashes. If you look closely, you can some times spot turtles floating around the area. Spent about 10-15 minutes there max.
google avatar

Christy S.

Yelp
We came across Spouting Horn while exploring Kauai. It was a neat little stop, you can be in and out in 10 mins. There is a little park so you could have a picnic if you wanted to dine with the many chickens that are roaming around. There is plenty of parking and also restrooms. I wouldn't drive too far out of my way, but it is a cool sight if you are in the area.

Yelp
The roads were blocked due to the marathon race this morning. So after spending quite a bit of time navigating the roadblocks, we eventually arrived at the Spouting Horn. Perhaps the marathon was to thank for the empty parking lot! #winning It was nice to take in the view in peace, without people talking in the background of my video. You could hear the roaring of the waves from the parking lot. We saw a sea turtle - a first for me! There are restrooms here and picnic tables. Bring a sandwich and enjoy your lunch here.

Yelp
"Tourist Kine Things" on a recent Sunday in June, even though I've been here twice, it never gets boring. Super nice to experience this again, Amazingly beautiful as always, love the beautiful "blue" color of the ocean and sky. Spouting Horn is a blowhole located on the southern coast of Kauai located in the Koloa district. This area of Kauai is know for its crashing waves. These waves erodes lava rocks on the coastline which can create narrow openings as in case with Spouting Horn. I like the idea that it is fenced off , keep visitors from going close to the blowhole. Its much safer! It is really cool to observe and listen, ahh the joy of nature is amazing! I really enjoyed our quick visit here, Lucky to live Hawaii even though I don't live on Kauai. **Perfect photo opt. don't forget to take as much photos and vids. while here but if you can ask someone to take a photo for you, it is so much nicer than a selfie, from experience. I am so glad a kind visitor offered to take our photo, so glad we took the offer.

Yelp
If you like natural wonders, you'll love Spouting Horn. It was windy today, and we were lucky to see small and big geysers. We also saw roosters, chickens, and their broods of little ones. March 7, 2023 was an incredibly windy day, and cool. We hung out for about fifteen minutes. We used the bathrooms before driving off. Once again, they had lots of toilet paper, but no soap or towels. The women's AND men's bathrooms were covered in graffiti. Wasn't that poetic or artsy.
google avatar

Chenna P.

Yelp
This place has an amazing backdrop and it feels so natural to hear water spurting out of the geysers. A great place to make a quick stop!
google avatar

Lori C.

Yelp
Fun stop while exploring the location of every each. Hint: There are CLEAN restrooms here. FYI: I lost my drivers license here and if you found it please mail back to the address.

Yelp
It may not be one of the seven wonders of the world... It's definitely not on Kauai's 10 top things to see... But the Spouting Horn is absolutely a must see when visiting Poipu/Koloa located on the south shore of the island. For one... It's 100% free. On top of that, the view showcases the blues and greens of the Pacific backed up to the horizon of the beautiful sky above; it's tough to decipher where one starts and the other ends. From the mesmerizing sound it puts out to the majestic power the Ocean creates, every 20 seconds or so a burst of ocean water blasts into the air as the waves slam into the lava cliff shore. Visitors are able to observe from the fenced off area and take in the natural wonder of Spouting Horn caused by centuries of erosion. There is plenty of parking, onsite restrooms and a few picnic tables if you want to bring lunch and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. My recommendation is grabbing a Puka Dog & Lemonade in Poipu and heading over to Spouting Horn Park to enjoy the beautiful views. So forget the 7 "wonders" which are so overrated and come check out Kauai's best place on island to blow off some steam, err I mean mist. ;)
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
You arent able to approach this as there is a gated fence. It is just a blowhole that spouts water that you can view from above and take pictures. People dont spend that long, spending probably about at max 10 minutes here. We spent longer only because next to the blowhole (to the right of it), there were turtles swimming along side the cliff. There is plenty of parking available. We visited around noon and it wasnt busy at all.
google avatar

Dog B.

Yelp
Pretty cool. Spouting height and such depends on the size waves so you might have to wait a while or just come back another time if you really wanna see a big spout. Worth seeing though if you're in the area and it's a nice view anyway.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
Great short stop if you want to see a blowhole! The parking area is pretty spacious and there's restrooms here as well. This spot is a little out of the way, but it's a quick stop if you're in the area! We got to see some good geysers, and it was a nice and quiet area that wasn't crowded with tourists (at least, when I was there). Great little spot if you want to see a blowhole!
google avatar

Sara J.

Yelp
Gorgeous! Neat! Cool! Been here twice and love sharing this location. It is so neat to see the cave blow water. Listening to the waves crash into and through the shore-lined caves is a spectacular view. If in Kauai, please make your way to this place. Enjoy the vast sea and lays in front of you and sights and sounds around you.

Yelp
Always a beautiful spot on a calm evening. Enjoy Gods creation and spend an evening out at this lovely park
google avatar

Yelp
We loved visiting this area! I had a family of 6 with me from age 10-70 and this was a fun quick activity for all to enjoy with minimal walking but enough to have us enjoy nature! My lil one was in awe of the sprouting horn and it was just a peaceful environment! It's a short quick visit and lots of lil beach areas around that you can relax! If your heading this way pack some beach chairs and snacks so you can enjoy after the sprouting horn.
google avatar

Deena P.

Yelp
Fun visit! This feature has an overlook just off the road, as well as restrooms, picnic tables, and paved paths. We did not stay very long, but enjoyed getting some pictures of this interesting natural feature.
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
I don't know how else to rate this other than 5 stars. It's free, it's cool to see, and it requires very little effort to park and see the spouting horn. You can go at sunset and watch the horn spout. It's supposed to be a good spot to watch for humpback whales from December to May if you are in Kauai during those months.
google avatar

Grace L.

Yelp
It makes such a unique sound! A lot of echo here! "Legend of Spouting Horn: Hawaiian legend says that a very large lizard or "mo'o" guarded this coast and ate fishermen and anybody else that got too close. Once when a brave man named Liko entered the water he was attacked by the mo'o. To get away, he swam under the lava shelf and escaped through the tunnel." Parking is easy. No hiking down there. It's all fenced off..Read alot of Articles that there have been deaths here. The swell can change from moment to moment..I didn't see the spout blow that high, but the echos it made was amazing!
google avatar

Chuck D.

Yelp
We enjoyed coming here when we were in the Poipu area. It was November 2020 and Covid travel restrictions left the place with few visitors. It was fine by us. Spent a good 15-20 minutes just watching and waiting for a good sized swell to come in and water to spout out... making the roaring sound. Legend has it a large mo'o (lizard) got stuck under the lava shelf when chasing a swimmer. The swimmer escaped by swimming through and out the blow hole but the mo'o couldnt fit and is now stuck there forever. The water escaping the opening in the rock shelf and the sound it makes is said to be the reptile's breath. Plenty of parking. Facilities are on site. People were socially distanced with masks on. I would certainly come back here on a bigger swell day to really see how high the water goes. I caught some good pics and vids of it but I'm sure it could be taller and louder.
google avatar

Mark E.

Yelp
M'eh. A very smaller version of Old Faithful. Yes, I'm aware it is not a geyser, but similar fashion the ocean water pushes up with the waves through a hole in the lava rock. This is a nice free attraction and if you are near-by, you can kill 5 minutes checking it out. Parking and facilities are clean and convenient. Decent amount of people showing up and viewing. Hang out and get a picture, then head out. Not much else to do there.
google avatar

Steve O.

Yelp
Nope, not the nickname of one of my high school teachers or college professors although I did have some real blowholes I had to survive. This is just one of those cool marvels of nature you just HAVE to stop and see when you visit Poipu Beach. Be warned, you will probably have to wait for some people hogging the best spots to take pictures because they just NEED to get that PERFECT shot. Who cares how many people are waiting right??? Just take a deep breath and learn to grin and bear it. We don't want to have a Will Smith moment plastered on Instagram do we?
google avatar

Klemens T.

Yelp
Came here for the first time to check out this "amazing blowhole" but it wasn't all that great unless I was totally in the wrong area lol. I followed all the directions which led me to this large parking lot. There's a small area with a fence where I went that had a clear view of this one blowhole. It is a beautiful view, but I was over it in about 2mins. There's a small mini flea market along the sidewalk which reminded me of the Maunakea Market area on Oahu. I ended up buying a bead bracelet that I found. I used to rock these back when I was in high school in the early 2000s lol. If you don't mind a short beautiful view of the ocean and this one blowhole and the mini flea market, then make this extra trip down here for picture purposes.
google avatar

Ashley G.

Yelp
Small area to watch. Come early to beat any possible crowds. It's super pretty! Definitely worth the drive if you're already in the area. There are nearby attractions also. Watch for a few minutes then move on or bring a snack and enjoy it while watching in the area. A restroom is available (not very clean, but not the worst- no soap though).
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Spouting Horn is cool to watch a few times, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. It erupts with each wave, so the nice thing is that you don't have to wait a while between each blow. I would stop by, walk up for about 5 minutes, and then head out. I'm sure children would enjoy it.
google avatar

Marshall G.

Yelp
Well the seas were running small this pm and the water show was minimal. About six at night. There was minor spouting but the big one never took off Still, the sound of the water thru the lava is like a giant beast breathing.
google avatar

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
This was a very quick stop for us. We were eating dinner in the area and stopped by. My parents came here years ago and said it has changed quite a bit now. It feels like a big tourist trap now. Don't get me wrong, it's a natural attraction, but the mob of people surrounding it takes away from it. There's also a ton of souvenir stands surrounding it. You pull up to the parking lot and it's right there. There's a fence that everyone crowds to get pictures. The waves weren't big when we were there, so the spout was small. I would personally only stop by if I was already in the area.

Scott G.

Yelp
Very nice but visit the other parks if you have limited time. Glad we saw it very beautiful
google avatar

Letie W.

Yelp
OK, this may not be everyone's top 10 things to see in Kauai, but it's very cool to see. Worth a visit to check it out then head over to Kapaa or Poipu for lunch. I went on a weekday, but many years ago there used to be lots of stands selling goods (kind of like a farmer's market). Not sure if this is still a thing on the weekends.
google avatar

Fran C.

Yelp
Wanna see something cool? Well, you can get your jollies by watching a hole periodically shoot out a spray of ocean like a geyser at the Spouting Horn in Koloa. The Spouting Horn Park features breathtaking views of Kauai's beautiful blue ocean, and of course........what everyone comes out to see.......... the "Spouting Horn". I guess this is a pretty popular tourist spot, and the small city & county park has a private parking lot. The 1st parking lot is basically for the large tour buses, and the 2nd parking lot is for the rest of the visitors with vehicles. The best part about the parking lot is that the parking is FREE here! There is a public restroom here, as well as a few vendors selling some items (I did not go by the vendors to check out what they were selling), as I figured it was just a tourist trap. Lol! A great spot to check out for a photo opp., but remember since the Spouting Horn will spray ocean water........just be careful in keeping your camera dry. :D

Yelp
This was a cute little pit stop for us before we went to the beach. Easy to find, parking was good, they had bathrooms there and lots of chickens and roosters walking around. The outlook point was busy, but people were pretty good about looking out, scooting over, taking their pics and moving aside, so it was nice. Our kiddo liked it, seeing the main big one in front of us and then there were little ones off to the right. Pretty cool to stop and take a peek.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice scenic stop located off the main highway linking east and south Kaua'i. Very convenient if you're on your way from or heading to Waimea canyon or other destinations south or west. The wave generated "spouting" (faux geyser) is slightly more impressive than Oahu 's Halona Blowhole but generally comparable. Not sure why all the low ratings... sure there are souvenir stands lining the edge of the parking lot, but there's no law saying that you need to stop or buy anything. The natural beauty of Kaua'i was sufficient enough for us to recommend this pleasant rest stop. Bathrooms are available although hand dryers/towels may not be available so plan accordingly or tote along some hand sanitizer. All in all, a very nice view and a good place to rest and escape the so called, "Kaua'i crawl" traffic flow for a few minutes. Mahalo for reading my review.
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
This is very close to Koloa Town. The legend has it that this area was guarded by a giant lizard God and kept the fisherman away. One day a brave fisherman came and the lizard chased him and got stuck under the lava rock. The fisherman got away. So when the spout erupts it is said that you can still hear the lizard beneath the rock breathing......I believe lol! Great stop and well worth th cost....free! There are several craft an merchandise sellers on site also. We found some cool pillow covers in a tropical pattern.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
We visited spouting horn while on a van tour, and I was surprised to hear it is one of the 2 most popular attractions on the island. But it's completely free, so that kind of makes sense. It's impressive to see and hear, and you don't have to wait long. It happens with every wave that comes in. We actually saw it twice. The 2nd time while coming back from a garden tour, when some back weather was starting to kick up. Got to admit.....it was much more impressive in bad weather when the wind & swells were larger.
