"Across the street from Red's Eats, there was no line at Sprague’s Lobster, the family-owned joint overlooking the Sheepscot River, where my roll was $6 cheaper and over six times more delicious: judicious mayonnaise, whip-fresh lobster, and a soft, butter-burnished bun." - Hannah Selinger

Google
5 stars across the board! Such friendly people, the BEST Lobster & crab rolls, delicious fresh milkshakes, amazing fish and chips, great coleslaw, yummy fries, and the best clam chowder I’ve tasted. Great boardwalk to enjoy while you eat. Parking is easy. ATM on site to get cash for paying. Gorgeous views of the water!

Google
Sprague’s Lobster is the place to eat fresh lobsters & clams for a dinner special, fresh clam chowder of the day. They have fresh crab rolls and lobster rolls. They carry varieties style of hotdogs and fries for the kids . There’s plenty of seats where customers can sit and enjoy their meal and parking . Before you leave Sprague’s you can grab ice cream before you go to your next destination. You don’t have to wait long for your food, unlike Red Eats across the street where the wait is over 1hr & 1/2 ; the line goes around the corner, not even sure if there’s a dining area for customers.

Google
Glad we chose to come here! This meal was worth the 30 minute wait during lunch. Fresh Maine Lobster Roll was delicious, just what you’d expect at any restaurant in the area. It was stacked with meat too. The clam chowder was also amazing! Tons of great seating over the water. Same lobster, shorter wait, great service - You gotta eat here!

Google
Amazing steamed lobster rolls! And right on the water. Don't be fooled by Red's across the street, which for some reason is more famous. Sprague's is just as yummy and you can skip the LONG line!

Jodi Jones

Google
Beautiful spot to eat, lobster roll was delicious but the chowder was the best! Line wasn't too bad, went pretty quick. Watching the people across the street at the other popular tourist trap eatery, they didn't move by the time we waited in line and received our food! Glad we made this choice.

Google
Waited well over an hour at the place across the street that had a Tik-Tok video go viral for their huge lobster rolls. Once we rounded the corner and noticed we weren’t even half way there, we figured, what the heck… we’re in Maine, lobster rolls are going to be fresh and delicious across the street as well. So glad we made the move. Had our food and a milkshake for dessert, finished before we would have even been served across the street. This lobster roll was huge, fresh, and oh so delicious! Loaded up with at least 6 claws and 3 whole tails, by my count… and a side of drawn butter to slather over top. Don’t bother waiting in the line across the street… just go to Sprague’s, you will not leave disappointed. By the way… the milkshake, oh boy, so smooth and creamy!!!

Google
I’ve been on a thousand mile road trip from NY to Canada and back. Looking for a lobster break. Been to Maine coast many times. I remember $6 Lobster Rolls in Portland! Although it was $50 for Lobsta-Roll, Chowder and ice tea…worth every penny. I swear at least two lobsters worth of perfect meat! Butter on the side. I had to eat half in order to utilize the roll part! The atmosphere? Sitting on picnic tables on the water… unforgettably perfect. Enjoy! Onto Portsmouth; Concord; Westport and LGA.

Google
Reds line was nuts so thought we’d try this place. It’s been years since I had Reds so I can’t compare but it took about 30 mins to order and get food. We got lobster roll and fries. Pretty big portion on toasted warm bun and side of butter but the biggest letdown was that the meat was cold! It would have made a huge difference had meat and bun both been warm. Fries were just ok. Had to add my own salt which is annoying bc by the time you get them, you can add salt but it won’t stick.

Yelp
Roll With the Punches For our antepenultimate lobstah roll here in Maine, we decided where else to try but the famous Red's Eats! Yes, Red's Eats which has been featured in just about every food magazine and in any food show where the subject of sandwiches and/or lobster rolls are mentioned. So, we got in line and waited and waited and within ten minutes the massive line hadn't budged an inch. So we quickly scoped out "this other place" across the street, and noticed the solid Yelp reviews. Well, we were sold and off to Sprague's we went. The Good: *Entire place is all outdoor dog-friendly seating w/ umbrellas. *Unlike Red's, Sprague's has actual riverside views. *The service at the counter was friendly and a little sassy, but a good sassy. *Unlike Red's, there was practically no line here at Sprague's and, what little there was, moved very efficiently. *Cheese fries use a queso instead of melted shredded cheddar--and they were fantastic. *Lobstah Roll was fantastic and was made even more fantastic with their great ambiance on the river's edge. The Meh: *Just like Red's, they too are cash only. *Street Parking only, but we didn't have an issue finding a spot. *Seasonal (Spring - Early Fallish) The Ugly: *Of course since they're cash only, some clever young entrepreneur put an atm machine nearby which was convenient--except the bloody thing didn't work!! Aarrggh!! Now I had to cross the highway not once, but twice. This ain't no easy highway to cross either. Believe you me... 0_o *I don't know what the deal with their chowder was that day, but it was straight up watery like soup and not a nice, thick chowdah. I can't believe this was their variation of a chowder. Something must've definitely gone wrong and we'll Chalk it up to a snafu. Conclusion: Fantastic views, smackin' eats, and no lines made Sprague's a winner in my book. Just be sure to be prepared and bring your own cheddah with you first.

Yelp
It's good, but $40 for one lobster roll? I don't think so. Just buy a lobster from Shaw's and do it yourself... not worth the pilgrimage.

Michelle R.

Yelp
Sprague's was recommended to us from a local. We waited about 20 min in line. Plenty of tables with shade for the summer swelter. We had our first Maine lobster roll. Plenty of lobster!!! It was overflowing. It was hearty and delicious. We had fresh corn on the cob. Cole slaw portion was small, but a good side option. Based on other locals weighing in, this is a great local option.

Yelp
There is a lot to choose from when you pull up to Spargue's. The restaurant is in a separate area, with a dirt parking lot. There are several shacks with a few shops, the steaming shack, and shack where you order. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CASH!! They only accept cash, which seems a bit outdated and a potential loss of sales. I know I would have ordered a lot more if I didn't have to pay in cash. A bit lobstered out and not wanted to spend my only cash on one lobster roll, we switched it up and got the fish and chips, chowder, and crab roll. Everything was very fresh. The crab roll was sweet, fresh and was just as good as the lobster roll at half the price. We would have liked to have both a lobster roll and the crab roll, but once again not enough cash at the time. The area was beautiful and made our eating experience even more enjoyable. This would be a great place to bring your family and enjoy some fresh weather and seafood. Just make sure you have enough cash!

Yelp
Cash only lobster shack on the pier. It caught our eye as we were waiting in the long line for Reds Lobster across the street. We ended up going to Spragues when we realized the line for Reds was probably going to take 1+ hours. Spragues had no line and food came out quickly. The lobster roll was good & there was plenty of seating. We also got a side of fried string beans which was interesting - not sure I would get those again.

Joe S.

Yelp
OK let me start by saying I did not have a lobster roll. The line across the street at Red 's was incredibly long. So we came here to see what the options were. There was maybe three people in line. I thought about getting lobster roll, but decided a couple burgers would hit the spot. People around were commenting. that their lobster rolls were very good. But on to the burgers. I got a cheeseburger and a hamburger special. They were very reasonably priced. I asked them to cook the burgers medium rare which they did. The staff was super friendly. The food was ready quickly. I believe they grind their own burgers fresh daily. At least that's what a sign said. The buns were soft and fresh. So for under $20, I got a hamburger and a cheeseburger special and a drink. My belly was full and I was happy. The view off the deck is also very nice and they had plenty of seating on very sturdy wood picnic tables.. Yes, I can highly recommend this place!

Robert C.

Yelp
Best lobster roll this New Yorker has ever had! And the clam chowder.... Amazing and fresh cut fries were definitely on point! We started waiting in line "across the street" and decided to skip the wait and try Sprague's.... And I'm glad we did! Highly recommended!

Brandy H.

Yelp
Bring your cash! They do have an ATM but we lost our place in line because we didn't know it was cash only. Amazing food and French fries like In N' Out. Can't beat the view!

Li K.

Yelp
Prime location and beautiful view overlooking the river. There was plenty of seating and the menu had a variety of options. They also have a stand with live to take home. My lobster roll was freshly toasted, soft and slightly sweet. They have options for both mayo and butter in the side.

Bayard C.

Yelp
The line here is substantially less than Red's just across the street and the food is better. It is. Our lobstahs had been cooked 10min, if not less, prior to being served. Fries, you betcha. The kids had a cheeseburger and a hot dog and both were great. To boot, you're right on the water with AMPLE space on the deck to roam around (perfect for the littles). Go see Dave next door cooking up the lobstahs fresh!

Chris H.

Yelp
Good lobster rolls (according to my brother) and good fish sandwich (haddock) We thought the line was long when we got there but it was twice as long when we left! Very little parking there; take note that there are a few to the right and I guess the weekends someone takes $2 for a small parking lot further back. It did have port-o-lets in the back - FYI. There's probably sufficient tables out on the deck considering there is really very little parking but boy is this place popular!!! My dad (Mainer) wanted to take us either to Speagues or Reds Eats across the street but my family isn't huge on seafood (judt two of us) so we didn't stop a few years ago. We did instead later on go to Governor's since it was closer - my dad said theire lobster rolls may not be the same as Spragues or elsewhere but they are good n enough; I can't say for sure but at least for the haddock fish sandwich, I would definitely agree (mind you Spragues is for *lobster* so no real surprise). Anyway, still recommended by me!

Kirsten F.

Yelp
Order taking was sloooow... stood in line about half hr, but chowder was amazing. Best we've had. We ordered twin lobsters- I would have liked a bit of salt to add. .had blueberry ice cream and it was delicious.

Jamie S.

Yelp
FANTASTIC! Why there are people standing in line across the street is bananas when this place is right here! Look at they gorgeous lunch! The bread on the lobstah roll was toasty and soft. The clam chowder was loaded with clams and potatoes. It had a very delightful brothiness to the chowder rather than the thick heaviness everyone makes it which was a wonderful surprise. This California girl also had moxie for the first time... it tastes as if root beer and Jager had a baby... I actually enjoyed it! I can't praise this place enough. The people are so friendly, there's. Lovely deck to sit on so you can enjoy the view while dining. And of course the food! Solid 5 ! You earned them!

Gary R.

Yelp
CASH ONLY. There is an ATM on site but make sure to get your money before getting in line or you will lose your place. Lobster rolls are usually $35 each and whole lobster dinners are about the same. Be sure to get enough cash. Nice location on a pier with a water view. Picnic tables aren't particularly comfy but work. Parking can be problematic and once you've pulled in there's no left turn, which may require going back across the bridge and making a U-Turn. And traffic can be quite heavy in season. They have chowder, lobster dinners, lobster rolls -- the usual lobster dock fare. I wish the clam chowder would have been a bit thicker but the taste made up for it in spades. Probably the best I've had. The cole slaw side was sweet and delicious. We got two lobster rolls, which were piled high with fresh, sweet meat and just as good as Red's across the street but without waiting in line for two hours. Just wish they'd be a bit more generous with the drawn butter. The ordering system is unique. They give you a number and you wait to be called. Everything but whole lobsters and shakes comes out of where orders are placed. The people who work there are nice and accommodating.

Joseph P.

Yelp
I used to go to Red's, but Spragues is better! Here's the rundown: tourists go to Red's because that's where the guidebooks send them and they want to take a selfie and say they were there. But if you're Interesed in food, not social media---you ought to cross the road and go to Spragues where locals and savvy travelers go. Why? Half the price, half the wait (still a long wait, but nothing a crazy as Red's) same, if not better product, far more seating, better atmosphere, easy peasy. That my 2¢ents!

TY Y.

Yelp
WOW, do NOT miss eating here if in search for amazing Maine Lobster! Across from THE famous Red's in Wiscasset, this was one of the BEST Lobster Rolls I ate on my trip to Maine! NO credit/debit cards accepted, but an ATM is right on their patio! If your idea of fun is ordering from a shack, dining on an open air picnic table and eating some of the freshest seafood available, this is a must stop!! Lobster Roll $29, Crab Roll $19, tasty Clam Chowder and fresh cut fries and more available - perfect meal! If your desire is steamed whole lobster, they have that too. Overall, 5.0 for Lobster Roll, and 4.5 rating for overall quality, friendly counter service, and casual dining experience. Came thru town around 3p Monday, and the line was only 10-12 deep (altho Reds is closed Mon/Tue). Once order placed at window, waited for food 10-15min, but worth every bite! Lobster was freshly prepared, tender and sweet on grilled hot dog roll; I asked for extra drawn butter YUM! The Crab Roll was just as tasty, lightly tossed in Mayo, excellent quantity and so flavorful! Fresh cut fries as a side, say no more. The Chowder was excellent with chunky potatoes but kinda light on clams in my cup. Facilities were limited, but this isn't a 2 hour dining experience. No doubt I'll come back on my next trip passing thru on Coastal Route 1! ENJOY!!

Mike M.

Yelp
Decent food, but definitely NOT better than Red's. We decided to not wait over an hour for Red's and tried Sprague's. Next time we will wait at Red's.

Mike J.

Yelp
I chose Spragues for lunch today with my Daughter from out west and I could not be happier I chose Spragues. The clam chowder was the best I have ever had. I would make a trip just for the chowder. The lobster roll was massive and worth every penny. Great seating. Amazing view and parking and I'll say that again parking. Wheelchair accessible as well there is a ramp near the porta potties.

Scott S.

Yelp
Went to spragues for the first time today as well as Reds in same day- been going to Reds once a year for 20 plus years. I am comparing lobster rolls only here. Both come with butter and or mayo on the side, and NOT pre-mixed. Also, Both places have a large menu, but Spragues does whole steamed lobster meals. Price- Spragues - $35, Reds $36 Wait time: Spragues the BIG winner here- 30 min in line, 15 minutes to wait for food. Reds was busiest I've ever seen it - 3 HOURS WAIT. not kidding. Usually it's a 1 and a half hours to 2 hours wait in my past experience. Lobster quantity - reds the winner easily, at least a 3rd more lobster meat total. Quality: Spragues was mostly claw meat, and some small chunk tail meat. Reds was mostly large chunks of tail meat, almost two whole tails in reds roll. Taste: Spragues was saltier, (supposedly they boil their lobsters in brine) and ok tasting to me, Reds was sweeter and much tastier to me... it tasted fresher to me as well although that may just be my perception. Butter: Spragues uses clarified "clear" butter, reds uses unclarified "cloudy" butter - for me, reds butter way tastier. Roll: Spragues was lightly toasted, kinda average. Reds was flat-top grilled with a good amount of butter, and was a clear winner for me. So if you don't mind the crazy-long wait, reds gets my vote.

Charles H.

Yelp
OUTSTANDING! Best describes this meal, Fresh food, fantastic clam chowder, wonderful fresh lobster and a breathtaking view of the harbor filled with lobster boats. Very picturesque. Reasonable prices HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Audrey V.

Yelp
If you're reading this, you've probably noticed another establishment across the street from Red's, also selling delectable crustaceans. Well, if you're tired of waiting in line & are as hungry for a lobster roll as we were, you won't regret crossing the street (safely, of course) to Sprague's. Yes it's cash only and you're going to pay a pretty penny for the fresh lobster lovin, but mark my words and don't split it...you're going to want all of it to yourself and you've come THIS far already so you might as well commit and trust the process and request extra butter on the side. After a short wait while seated at quaint picnic tables under nostalgic umbrellas, you'll soon be greeted with the sweetest and most succulent lobster of your dreams. The only suggestion I could possibly offer would be to add some salt to the warm drawn butter and grab some napkins.

Alexandra F.

Yelp
When Red's has a line down the street (which is 90% of the time), going to Sprague's is a no brainer. Their food is incredibly reasonably priced and offers exactly what you would expect. The lobster dinner is truly a great price for what you get! I love sitting out on the deck and watching the seagulls on the water. The area also includes a very sweet little stand in which you can buy jams and other canned goods, as well as a small little building with some information on the history of the area. The staff is friendly and personable, and truly makes the atmosphere comfortable and authentically "Maine". It is truly family business -- the type that I love to support. Just know that it is cash/check only and there is an ATM on site.

Trent W.

Yelp
Great location on the Sheepscot River food was fresh and excellent, easy to order in a great dock area.

Kelly G.

Yelp
Best lobster roll I've ever had. Line was almost two hours deep. Honestly, I didn't care about the wait after my first bite of the most amazing roll I've ever had . I have no advice other than GO HERE , have patience , order yourself a delicious lobster roll and enjoy ! I live in SC but I will literally be coming back to Wiscasset just for this lobster roll .

Wes S.

Yelp
We had chowder and lobster here and it was amazing! Great service and recommendations from the staff, David was very nice and even let us hold a giant live lobster!

Angie V.

Yelp
Nice seating area, fine lobsters. They only accept cash. A bit expensive, but it is summer and a tourist season. The lobster wasn't warm.

Bill H.

Yelp
THE BEST LOBSTER ROLL!! Ever... line moved quick and the service was exceptional. Loved eating out on the deck..!! Great Maine feel and again.. the best lobster rolls!!

Chris B.

Yelp
Wow ... this is great stuff as both rolls were packed with meat and the chowder was pretty good in the local cold weather. Just off the bridge STOP and eat!

Tom B.

Yelp
This is going to sound familiar...stopped in Wiscasset, ME to go to Red's Eats and after about 25 minutes of standing in line we moved about 5 feet. Therefore, we walked across Main Street to Sprague's Lobster. Ordered two (2) lobster rolls nearly immediately upon arriving and 15 minutes later we were enjoying a great sandwich with a side of melted butter. Really enjoyed the ease of ordering, pleasant service and great sandwich on a lovely deck. The women who was in front of us at Red's was still in line when we drove north out of town. She had to have been in line for 2 hours. Ironically, this was the advice we received from a local...his words, "There are only a few things I would stand in line for two hours for and lobster rolls from Red's isn't one of them! Go across the street to Sprague's." Best decision of the day!

Jason K.

Yelp
My wife and I were on a week long Maine coast road trip and we were all set to try the lobster place across the street from Sprague's. This wait for my buttered Maine lobster roll was maybe 15 minutes after ordering. I had 9 lobster rolls on my Maine trip, and this was by far in my top 10. Lots of meat and a wonderful outside deck to enjoy the sweet and buttery lobster meat. Just a wonderful roll. You have to try this place. Way good and a shorter wait than across the street.

Paula H.

Yelp
Delicious lobster rolls!! Def a must have, been coming here for years! Outside seating is great too!

Lucian L.

Yelp
A gracious alternative to Red's Eats, which, by the way, is a joke to locals. I had, of course, a lobster roll, and it was so loaded with lobster, I couldn't eat it all in one sitting.

Walter W.

Yelp
This is a solid 4.5 It's the next best thing to Reds across the street. They use a slight tad less meat and don't add the salt to their meat like Reds does. Super good Lobster rolls and doesn't have the wait Reds has. I'm putting pics of both as we had both. If no wait, I'm going Reds. But reds always has a wait so Spragues is just perfect.

Elizabeth X.

Yelp
Didn't want to wait in the long line across the street for Red's so we came here. Cute pier location with beautiful outdoor seating. Local goods and jams sold there too.The good is good. If you're looking for lobster rolls, I'd recommend this spot. Great ambience. Some bees though.

Bikram D.

Yelp
Don't spend money in Portland eating lobsters if you plan to travel north. Enjoy the beautiful waterfront and the other stores in the deck till you wait for your seafood to get steamed. Simple excellent seafood at the lower price than Portland. Whole lobster 1.25 lbs - $17.50.

Chris C.

Yelp
Sprague's Lobster / Wiscasset, ME - chowder 4 -- Atmosphere 4.5 -- Lobster roll 4.75 Very good, thin chowder with lots of flavor. More potato than clam but still quite good Long wait for cafeteria style ordering , but quick to get order once placed and lots of picnic table seating on boardwalk with an ice cream shop, blueberry jam hut and portapotties Lobster roll has huge amount of very fresh lobster tail and claw meat and mayo or butter dressing in the side

Rose P.

Yelp
This is such a charming place and the food was great and reasonable while we did have the lobster rolls which were delicious they also offered whole lobster steamed at a very reasonable price

Doug N.

Yelp
This place was just ok for me. Didn't want to wait in the line across the street. I came here hoping it would meet my Lobster Roll standards, and it didn't. The good is that they gave you plenty of lobster meat. The people are super nice that work here. It has a great view of the water, and lots of seating. The bad is you have to pay cash only. Not a big deal as there is a ATM, but still a pain. However, my main issues were that they lobster totally dominated the bread/bun. The bun is way too small. They give you the mayo and butter on the side, and because it is a small bun it is hard to really garnish it correctly. There wasn't much flavor, compared to other rolls I had on my trip. The butter is also not very flavorful, so you had a very uninspiring and not very tasty lobster roll. The key to a good lobster roll is great meat, a good size bun that is toasted perfectly, and just the right amount of butter and mayo. Put it all together correctly, and you have the greatest sandwich ever. Sprague's just didn't have it.

Monica L.

Yelp
I tried Sprague's today because it made the new book, Unique Eats and Eateries of Maine. It was good, but not spectacular. The clam chowder was tasty. The fresh cut fries were great. I wouldn't rush to go back.

Sharon M.

Yelp
For those of you standing in line at Red's, looking across the street at the much shorter line at Sprague's lobster shack, this review is for you. We did the two hour wait in the Red's line yesterday. Never having been to Wiscasset before, and knowing Red's reputation, I did not want to risk getting a less than phenomena lobster roll. I was not disappointed. My last day in this area left me wanting another lobster roll but not wanting to stand in line so I took a chance and tried Sprague's. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED and would absolutely make the same choice again. There might be just a little lobster but they are seven dollars less too. Our lobster rolls has more than enough lobster for any sane person and then some. They also had clam chowder & it was wonderful. I would come back here & recommend this place without hesitation!

Jennifer F.

Yelp
Driving to Acadia and stopped for lobster rolls. Delicious, fresh, and fabulous! Don't bother with Red's across the street and the one hour line. THIS place is the best!!

Jessi S.

Yelp
Had the intention of going to Red Eats after reading about it online on several travel blogs, but the line looked AT LEAST an hour long. The lobster roll at Spragues validated my decision to come here! And the wait was less than 15 min! Our roll came with CHUNKS of lobster. The butter they gave us on the side, though, was not real butter- more of the oily stuff. We also got a haddock sandwich which was tasty but on the smaller side and nothing even came with fries! Everything for $46- cash only!

Thomas W.

Yelp
Don't wait at Reds! $35.50 for 1.25 lbs lobster, 1 lb clams, ear of corn, coleslaw, and a dinner roll???!!!! Wow!! We didn't get that but were very tempted. You can order that dinner and ask for a larger size Lobster if you wish & they will adjust the price upward based on the current MP which today was $17.5/lb. We got their lobster roll for $29.95 to compare with Reds which we had a couple days before. It seemed pretty much equivalent with a toasted bun and overflowing big lobster chunks and a side of warm butter. We also had some deep fried mushrooms which were good. The corn cob we ordered was good but was pretty darn small. I'd definitely recommend this place over Reds. You get basically the same lobster roll but you don't have to wait 1-2 hours standing in line. You order and then you sit at their picnic tables & wait for your number to be called. Our order took about 20 minutes to be received. To give you a comparison. We arrived at 4:55pm and noted the Red line about 20 people deep, we ordered, ate and got into our car and drove by Reds at 5:45 and there were still 8 people just waiting to order at Reds. Ridiculous.

Kelli S.

Yelp
We were driving through on a road trip and happened upon this gem! The owners were so hospitable & patient with us southerners as we ordered. We had clam chowder & steamed lobsters. It was just the best on their sunny dock cracking into a big ole Maine mudbug!

Michelle T.

Yelp
I would not want to be Sprague's competitor. No line, spacious, nice waterfront view as you chow down your lobster roll. To my surprise, this place lobster roll was stuffed. It had to have a whole lobster considering the whole lobster claw and tail was overflowing out of the toasty roll. I also asked for a crab roll so that I can make a fair comparison of each roll with their competitor. The lobster roll definitely did not disappoint. Crab roll I would past next time as I would rather pay extra for the overstuffed lobster roll.

Emmee H.

Yelp
Fresh and perfectly cooked! We arrived with plans to go to reds across the street but the line was over an hour long and moving very slowly. After reading positive reviews decided to try spravues. It has to be the same lobster right? It didn't disappoint. The lobster was overflowing out if the roll. It had to be more than one lobster worth of meat. It was perfectly cooked and tender. The clam chowder had great flavor. It was a thin creamy broth and fresh. Nothing fancy just good flavored chowder with lots of clam. The crab roll was good. It was a mayo based crab in a bun. I prefer the lobster but if you prefer crab it was very goods.

Blake R.

Yelp
So jumped off the plane today and headed straight to get a lobster roll! So the wife heads over to this nice lobster shack on the water! Great setting for the first lobster roll of the trip! She meets me at the picnic table with a lobster roll and a crab roll. I went crab roll first because well it was the closest one to me and we hadn't eaten since breakfast... it was 4pm so we were hangry. Crab roll - first bite I was like yes this is fresh crab meat with some mayo. Kind of a let down. But as I got into the roll more and the butter flavor from roll came Into play. Man it highlighted the fresh crab to a new level... it was really good. Lobster roll- first bite I was like yep that what I have been missing. Some butter and mayo added to it and man I was in vacation lobster heaven. The roll was buttered and toasted perfectly. Lobster meat was a good portion and was well cooked. Over all I have to say I enjoyed it! Look forward to the next 30 lobster rolls on the journey!

Yelp
Beautiful location right on the water. Lobster roll ($33) came overstuffed with lobster meat on a toasted roll. The wait was a bit long but we got to witness a fight between the Spragues worker who steams the lobsters (lobster guy) and the older man who runs the jams & jellies (jam man) shack right next to Spragues so it was like lunch and a show. Apparently Jam Man orders his food from Spragues and doesn't like to wait too long and may have been a little curt with Lobster Guy and Lobster Guy is fed up with Jam Man and let the world know. Lots of yelling and f-bombs and a lot of 'I'm sick of your sh*t" being yelled by Lobster Guy. This was in the presence of families with kids. My 8 yr old wanted to know why Lobster Guy kept saying the f-word. We kind of felt bad for Jam Man. Not a great look for the Lobster Guy.

Yelp
To be fair, we only had ice cream. But the blueberry ice cream will weaken your knees. My goodness, this might be the best ice cream I have ever eaten. Spragues is set up as a series of shacks including the seafood and ice cream as well as some other art and souvenirs. The staff were super nice and we even asked the guy running the lobster pots a bunch of questions that he answered in a friendly manner. The view of the river added to the experience.
