The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. Pickup and drop-off from the train station to the airport were seamless. Our driver was not only friendly but also hilarious, which made the ride even more enjoyable. The rooms were comfortable, and the on-site restaurant was absolutely delicious. The location was perfect—just a short walk to shops, restaurants, and coffee spots!

We arrived at SpringhillSuites in Fairbanks, AK last night. We looked at the military rate online, which was available for us to book. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told there is no military rate on Friday & Saturday. What an injustice! We told them that the rate was an available online. We also took screenshots of the availability and our bill. The rate was quite a bit higher than we were told. ||The next morning, someone knocked on our door & asked, “When will you be leaving?” When I replied that checkout is at noon, the girl was obviously not pleased. She looked at the other employee with her & they side eyed each other. She asked, “So, 12:30?” I jusy looked at her and said, “12-noon”. They walked away. Customer service was absolutely horrible.

I loved this hotel! |Their location is amazing, surrounded by restaurants and shops downtown. They have a good, free breakfast. Rooms are big, clean, equipped with fridge and microwave.|But most of all, their manager, TAYLOR, is THE BEST MANAGER I have ever met.|On our last day we had to spend about 5 hours in their lobby because our flight was at 2am in the morning. Taylor told me "You can be here anytime. This is your home". He helped us with the bathroom access, microwave, and shuttle to the airport. |Marriott, if you are listening, Taylor is a keeper and definitely deserves a raise and a promo. THANK YOU Taylor and Springhilll Fairbanks staff. We had a great experience staying here.

The hotel it self is pretty nice. It's clean and well maintained. The issue is the homeless population out the front door. You can't have your windows open unless you want to hear them screaming all night. And they constantly chase after you. I attached a video from a random Saturday at 5pm

Great hotel, spacious rooms, friendly staff, and a very nice restaurant on site. Right on the banks of the Chena River, right across the street from the starting point of the dog sled race, The Quest. Easy walk to several other restaurants. Be aware in the winter time, all sidewalks and parking areas in Fairbanks are covered in ice. Watch your step and be careful!

The rooms are big enough for a bed as well as a pull out trundle couch bed thing, and also come with a refrigerator and microwave which was great for keeping and reheating leftovers. Breakfast was mostly the same everyday but they did rotate one of the items so it was a breakfast sandwich one day or a quiche another day heated up in a package. They did a good job at keeping everything filled and although the oatmeal was thick, they had regular as well as alternative milks to add. The only negative was that only one elevator was working so it could be slow going up and down, but hopefully that was a one-off during our stay. Very conveniently located in downtown to multiple restaurants and the shuttle is a plus to get to and from the airport! Pro tip head to the gym in order to refill your water bottles

Had the most amazing stay at SpringHill Suites in Fairbanks. Unfortunately it was only for one night - we would have loved to stay for weeks as the staff are just so friendly and professional. After a very bad stay for 3 nights at Chena Hot Springs resort where all the staff seemed very unhappy, arriving at SpringHill Suites and being welcomed by friendly staff who are clearly proud of where they work was such a relief. The rooms are great. Super clean, very modern and look recently refurbished. The free breakfast was also excellent quality. They run a free shuttle to the airport and train station if you need with the friendliest drivers. Cannot recommend SpringHill Suites highly enough!

Stayed at Spring Hill Suites for 5 days to see the Aurora Borealis. The hotel shuttle picked us up early at 2 am. The check-in was easy, and our room was located on the 6th floor. The room is spacious with a good size shower/tub. There's plenty of towels and toiletries. Breakfast is served at 6:30 to 9 am. on weekdays. There's ample variety to choose from, such as eggs, bacon, oatmeal, and bread, but it doesn't vary much every day. The hotel is located near an ice museum and restaurants in the city. There's also Lavelle's Bistro attached to the hotel that opens later in the afternoon at 4:30. The staff are kind and helpful. And willing to assist you with anything you need. The only thing I noticed is the thin walls, and you can hear your neighbor flushing their toilet. We're satisfied with our stay as it provides us what we needed.

Yelp
Note: It has been over a year since I visited this location. I mainly saved this review because I was with a large group when I stayed here. There was about 30 of us for three days of basketball. The staff worked really hard to accommodate a host of situations like lost keys. They also let us use their dining area for the dispersal of meals. All the while, they were friendly and considerate. The rooms are kept very clean. The entire hotel is clean. Our room had two queen beds, a couch, coffee table, and desk. There was a mini-fridge and even a sink. The bathroom was a little small. On day two of the tournament, I had to Zoom in for a meeting at work. The hotel WIFI handled my 90 minute Zoom without any issues. The parking situation was a little interesting. There seemed to be less spaces than people. It was the end of January, and it was snowing, so there was no lines on the spaces. Since the hotel is located downtown, there are some questionable moments of trying to decide what parking was safe, and what could be ticketed. Speaking of downtown. There are many restaurants and locations within walking distance. I can imagine this is a really sweet spot in the middle of summer.

Yelp
Every Springhill Suites is the same...and different. The rooms at this location were particularly spacious with "separate" (no doors separating the areas!) areas for the desk, sitting room / couch and beds). The room had both a microwave and mini-fridge and a separate sink from toilet and shower which is particularly good if there are a number of people sharing the room. The area is louder than I expected as I could hear music from some sort of nearby bar or club at night. There is complimentary breakfast, and when I was there it was really busy with lines extending out of the hot food area from ~8:15a until 9a (it could have been like that longer but I had already left by then). The hotel has a decent-sized fitness center with three treadmills, an elliptical and a bike (for cardio) and two benches with two sets of free weights. There is a pool and hot tub next door to the fitness center. The folks working at the front desk were friendly, and there's a complimentary airport shuttle.

Yelp
Everything was on expectation for the brand: the rooms were comfortable and clean, breakfast was good & kept stocked. The rooms did show their age in a few places. Wifi was a little shaky for a work call I had. The location is right downtown, but it turns out downtown isn't much, only a few places walkable are even open for dinner.

Yelp
The only Marriott option in this town, I stayed a couple nights while here for work. Hotel has a great downtown location, and they don't charge for parking! Had a nice view from my 5th floor room. This hotel is not new and is not fancy like some of the newer Springhill Suites. Only offered standard internet (high speed option didn't work). King suite was a large room with an odd layout. TV is located to the side of the desk and bed so you have to turn to your left if you want to watch TV. They had Netflix and Amazon Prime but the HBO/MAX is listed as an option but doesn't work and is not available. Decent free breakfast offered in the morning. Bathroom needs a major update but signs in the elevator indicate they are in the process of doing this. Hard mattress that was low quality, not sure why they went cheap on them, Springhill Suites usually has better mattresses. Staff was friendly and helpful and as the only Marriott option I would come back.

Brian H.

Yelp
I typical, nice chain hotel located in the center of town in Fairbanks. The staff were all nice and help at check-in. I requested electronic check-in but the app never gave me the key to do so. Not a huge deal to walk inside but defeats the purpose of the app and contactless check-in. The room is standard for the brand, king bed was fairly comfortable. There's no comforter on the bed, just a thicker sheet on top of the standard sheet so it was hard to stay warm while sleeping. Otherwise a nice room, clean and stocked. We would stay here again given the option.

Yelp
In planning our recent trip to Alaska, we decided to spend 2 nights in Anchorage on the front end and 2 nights in Fairbanks on the back. In between was the Alaska Railroad which would take use to Seward, back to Anchorage, onwards to Denali, and then ending in Fairbanks. As I had a free Marriott Bonvoy night on my account (and points for our 2nd night), I picked this SpringHill Suites for our stay. Please note that this is the only Marriott property within greater Fairbanks. Downtown Fairbanks is a bit underwhelming, but this Hotel sits just back from the Golden Heart Plaza along the banks of the Chena river. From our 4th floor window, we had a great view of that, plus the historic Immaculate Conception Church, the Yukon Quest Cabin and beyond. We really enjoyed our modern room, especially in the morning when I wake up earlier and was able to hang out in the living room without disturbing Gayle. The bed was very comfortable, the shower water was hot and plentiful, and the Wi-Fi was strong. Plus, the free breakfast (which always included scrambled eggs and a meat among other things) was a nice bonus. We also appreciated the front desk staff who arranged our shuttle from the Train Station and later to the Airport, stored our bags on the last day, arranged a taxi to our dinner at the Pump House, and answered the usual tourist questions with a smile. Having Lavelle's Bistro connected to the building was also a real plus.

Steve S.

Yelp
We stayed here 2 nights to begin our Alaska adventure. It's a nice Marriott and likely the best hotel in Fairbanks. Lavelle's restaurant in the hotel has an extensive wine list. Although we didn't eat there, the meals looked wonderful. The prices reflect the level of expertise. The beds were a bit on the still side but clean. The room was clean and looked fairly new and in nice shape. The heater/air conditioner was somewhat loud waking me several times per night. When/if I come to Fairbanks I'll be staying here again.

Courtney P.

Yelp
After sleeping in the equivalent of a double wide trailer while visiting the Arctic Circle, our hotel room at the Springhill Suites was a welcome reprieve. The room was modern and clean with a wonderful little sitting area and couch. The bed was big and comfy, with soft sheets and sufficient pillows. And the water pressure was tremendous. The price is good for the quality of the room and the location. Parking can be a little limited but everything is walking distance, including some of the best food we had while visiting Fairbanks.

Aihua Y.

Yelp
The best hotel in town! Thank you for upgrade our room! We could see Mt. Denali from our room on the six floor!!

Gabe O.

Yelp
Loved this property! It was right on downtown. Parking could be an issue, even with the overflow lot across the street. The most i waited was about 10 mins of circling the parking lots. Was there for two night, two separate reservations, ( last bight was unexpected, so i needed a room last min) 1st night was facing 2nd street... the shops along the street gave it a 'old west' feel. Second night i was facing 1st street, and you could see the Chena River. Both sides were quite lovely, in fact.

Yelp
The best thing about this hotel is the restaurant. It is probably one of the best restaurants in Fairbanks. It is, however, quite expensive. The hotel is close to 3 other restaurants nearby, so there are other options. The downsides: this is the default option for the railroad tours, so it's crowded, and there are people coming and going at all hours of the night due to aurora tours ending at 3 and 4 AM. The security is very good at the hotel - I guess there are vagrants who could wander in. The breakfast (including coffee) is picked up promptly at 10 probably for the same reason. No coffee service after that point (although there are coffee pots in the room for coffee-flavored water). We were on the top floor hoping it would be quieter, but the pipes (radiator?) banged all night long. We had the maintenance guy come check it, but it didn't help. Moving to another room was an option, but another person on our tour said their room REALLY reeked of cigarette smoke ("And I'm a smoker!") so knocking pipes beats smoke smell in my book. If I were to do it again, I would pick a hotel that's off the beaten bath for the huge tour groups that stay here.

Philip S.

Yelp
This property is very well located in the heart of the downtown area. There are certainly other properties but not so well located. The interior is well maintained. And the presence of Lavelle's Bistro is a plus. There are numerous restaurants in walking distance. The room was clean and well appointed. Covid procedures being on place, there is no way to comment on the ongoing housekeeping. Parking was nearby but the main lot fills up early in the evening. As a result, I had to park on the street most nights.

Andrew D.

Yelp
We stayed here tonight's while visiting Fairbanks. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly and would definitely stay here again while in Fairbanks. No need for Uber's are in the downtown area on the river

Jackson H.

Yelp
This is a standard Marriott suites hotel in downtown Fairbanks. We stayed there a few nights in our recent trip to Fairbanks. We arrived late at night and was treated by the very friendly front desk lady. She gave us a good rundown of where things are in the hotel. The hotel room had a small office desk with Ethernet cable. There was also a kitchen sink and a small microwave oven for you to use. The room has a sofa bed that we did not take advantage of. Overall the room we had was spacious and came with a decent rate. The hotel itself shows its age, which is especially prevalent with the two elevators. They were perhaps the slowest elevators I have ever experienced in my life. I think the hotel is ok for anybody looking to find a place to stay in Fairbanks. I'm a loyal Marriott member so I did not look for other hotels in Fairbanks area. I probably will stay there again if I ever go to Fairbanks next time but it isn't anything that I'd call impressive.

Yelp
Three stars from the non-smoking, sensitive sleeper. The SpringHill is in the heart of downtown near the river. As locations go, this one is great. Short distance to the airport. When I entered the hotel, I was overwhelmed by the smell of cigarette smoke. I later discovered why- guests smoke out front and staff smoke in a shed-like area on the other side of the door. I went to my room which was next door to the elevator and noticed red marks in the bathtub. I was given another room, but was assured that the red streaks are normal due to rust. Good to know. My room looks nice. Having recently stayed at another exceptional hotel, I was surprised that the SpringHill doesn't offer movie channels. As a guest, you can connect to your amazon or Netflix. But for the average person that may not have either, cables options are limited. Still, I didn't come to Fairbanks to watch television so not a big deal. The bed was comfortable. I woke up bright and early to the surround-sound of pipes operating in other rooms. Not ideal. Now breakfast during covid times is not hot. Breakfast was significantly lacking. By the time I descended to the breakfast area at 8am on Sunday, there were two bowls of cereal, brown bananas, some yogurt, milk and microwaveable burritos. Despite the distancing signs, there was a crowd waiting for breakfast. I'm not impressed.

Harvey V.

Yelp
I stay here twice a year for work. They have very nice staff, very clean rooms and the best location! The room are large and everything is what one would expect. However, the beds are very tired. I don't mean that in a good sleep kind of way. They desperately need to be updated. The elevators are also in great need of an update. Small complaints for all that is good here.

Benton M.

Yelp
Let's get this out of the way. I would recommend staying here. Why the 4 stars? Read on. I found the location to be great, it's right downtown next to some great restaurants. The shuttle to and from the airport is convenient, leaving right on the hour by request. Staff was helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool. If I had brought workout clothes, the gym seemed fine. They provided a fridge and free WiFi. For the time we had a car rental, parking was easy and free. And the bed... let me just say it may have been the most comfortable bed in the world. I have back problems stemming from a desk job, terrible posture and general laziness to better my life, but I felt like a new man after sleeping on that mattress. So what went wrong? Really nothing in the local staffs control. Breakfast is pretty much the same each day. It's free, so I can't complain, but it got boring. So boring we even went elsewhere and spent money on breakfast. But again, it's free. My main complaint was really from when I booked the room a few months prior. I had enough points from the Marriott credit card to to book 4 nights and get a 5th night free (message me if you want more info on this!) I booked this over the phone and the dude who made the reservation decided to charge me for points instead of giving me the 5th night free. When I saw the charge shortly after, I was told it would fall off. When I called again, I was told to call the Fairbanks location directly to get it removed. They couldn't find it and said once I arrived there they could remove it. Once we arrived, they saw we paid with points and didn't see a charge. It was only after calling the 3rd time and talking to a special rep at at the 800 number when she figured out the original person had screwed up and charged me when he shouldn't have. I am hoping the charge has been removed now, but to get this fixed I spent nearly 3 hours talking to people. #annoyed I don't blame the Fairbanks branch for this, but since their system couldn't detect this error from a company end, I am rating Marriott as a whole accordingly. Still, for a hotel, if you're willing to spend a couple hundred a night, it's a fine choice.

Yelp
Ah the fond memories of the fun I have frolicking with friends in frosty Fairbanks! [I should get some bonus points for alliteration!] On my trips to Fairbanks, I alternate between the Spring Hill Suites and the Hampton Inn when choosing a hotel. The SpringHill Suites is conveniently located downtown, right on the Chena River, and within walking distance of several local businesses. The suites are spacious and comfortable, internet speed is adequate, breakfast is complimentary and pretty decent, the fitness room is pretty standard, and the cookies at the front desk are good. Service is friendly, and gets more cordial as they begin to recognize you after a few stays. You can even request a wake-up call if the Northern Lights decide to display themselves! The onsite restaurant is great, and you can read my review of it here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/lavelles-bistro-fairbanks#hrid:omcu2tL2HyjqjPgav7leWg You are asked to inform the front desk in advance if you want a shuttle to the airport, but they really accommodate requests on pretty short notice. Overall, a solid choice for a hotel in Fairbanks.

Bruce K.

Yelp
Free shuttle to and from the airport, I love you. Rather than get a rental car earlier than needed, I called the hotel when we landed. And then they brought us back in the morning to get the car. Awesomesauce! This SpringHill is Marriott's furthest north property in the Americas. We stayed here hoping to get closer to the Northern Lights. And it's clear that this is a regular thing their guests do - in addition to the usual weather posted in the lobby, they also have the solar "weather" and magnetic storm index. My room was as I expected for a SpringHill. Clean, functional and spacious enough with a mini-fridge and a microwave, plus a flat screen TV and a fold out sofa in addition to the king sized bed. The room was quiet enough and the view of the Chena River was lovely. If I'm in Fairbanks, I would stay here again.

Yelp
EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Everyone is smiling here because there is no reason to complain I checked in two nights ago and it was easy, friendly, and just went smoothly. The next morning I went to breakfast and interacted with the attendant and she was wonderful and the food was the good, standard Marriott breakfast with eggs, potatoes (meat mixed in I believe), and all the sides like toast, English muffins, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal - so many other items to choose from and the coffee was good. Just easy, smooth and friendly breakfast. -Every time I have walked in or out of the lobby, there has been a friendly exchange - unless i was in a hurry and they recognized it ---- truly everyone has been absolutely wonderful. --I rented a car but am taking the train home. I returned the car and the hotel shuttle was at the airport to take me back to the hotel very quickly and again, my driver was happy, chatty, and informative. --I have no doubt that my ride to the train station will go flawless as everything has gone so well here. I am a solo traveler and I had rented an airbnb for the first two nights and while it was wonderful, it was off Murphy Dome Road, on Ivans Alley - at the very end. The steep driveway was not conditioned or plowed at all and it was a bit terrifying for this California girl-- so, it was such a relief to park at the hotel - for free- and then everything else going so well - I just can't thank this hotel enough. - In fact, right now I am doing laundry and I have had to interact at the front desk several times for change and a small issue with a dryer. Marlina is friendly, professional, and calm - i had to get change and a key - recoded- and a large group of people had just come in (2 am - they had a delayed flight) and I am super thankful I didn't have to wait for the whole group to check in.....a lot of hotels wouldn't have cared and put me in the line...When I had a small issue with the laundry, Marlina was genuinely empathetic and friendly.... In this day and age of establishments blaming Covid for bad service, this hotel and it's employees have stood out. I traveled five months this year and this is the single, smoothest/easiest experience I have had with any hotel or Airbnb. I could go on and on but I shall stop now......I looked in on the facilities and the gym looks great, the pool/hot tub, look great - I was out all night for the lights and out half the day checking out the area so I didn't do anything at the hotel except what I listed above. I normally take a ton of pictures but was too busy - everything is clean and again, just a wonderful place to be right in the middle of some establishts - like a bar and shops right across the street. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NORTHERN LIGHTS TOUR I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FACETHEOUTDOORS.COM - 150$ ROUNDTRIP TO DELTA JUNCTION - BEST VIEW WITH HUGE OPEN SPACES -- I HAVE included one of my northern lights pic here. I would stay away from auroranotify.

Joe A.

Yelp
I would prefer to stay at a local air B and B - get to know people. Drive around town - the houses and neighborhoods are interesting. You don't get that with a hotel.

Dwight C.

Yelp
We stayed here for four days while visiting in the winter. A good hotel and it was at capacity due to guests staying for winter activities. Housekeeping very good and hotel staff friendly and helpful Marked down one star as breakfast staff appeared very busy trying to keep up with breakfast due to number of guests. There were times food prep fell behind need and guests had to wait for food All in all this hotel was comfortable and appeared well maintained. Outside tempeture during our stay was sub zero but hotel was always comfortable

L L.

Yelp
Enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The room was a bit small for a family of five but it worked well. I liked that there was a trundle bed so that really helped. The people were very helpful and friendly. I have four stars for the room size. It is a great place to stay when at Fairbanks.

Michelle D.

Yelp
I HIGHLY Recommend staying here .The Customer service at this place is AWESOME!!!! I was VERY IMPRESSED with all of the people I had contact with from the Shuttle drivers to the front desk and housekeeping!!!! FANTASTIC!!! I really appreciate the way we were treated. The location is great the rooms are nice and comfy. The place is very modern with a cozy pool and hot tub that is a good size. The complimentary breakfast is delicious and the coffee is good and that is very important Another major benefit is it has a Resteraunt named Lavelles that is attached to the hotel with a separate entrance and this Resteraunt is fantastic If you want more info I did a Yelp review on the Resteraunt with some pics. They also have shuttle service to and from the airport and the train station. This is the place to stay in Fairbanks and if you need to see the car museum or anything else take the shuttle and stay here!!

Andrew H.

Yelp
Dewd, yer goin' to Squarebanks! Ok, so I confess, I don't know why Alaska's 3rd largest city (just lost out to Juneau, look it up!) is referred to as "Squarebanks". I do like the term though. Anyway, this is about as "central" as you can be in Fairbanks. The hotel is clean, to the point where it feels like everything was refurbished recently. My room, was too big/nice for me. And it had a pretty sweet view. I slept with the blinds wide-open (free show!), which I rarely do. The biggest pro of this place is that you can walk to a lot of stuff. If you have an irrational fear of walking, one of the best restaurants in town is located inside your friggin hotel. Most hotels in Fairbanks seem to be pretty...forgive my use of this cliche...pretty "corporate". They are entities unto themselves...maybe you can walk across a freeway to get a food at a Safeway. Not this place, it may be from a big hotel chain but it feels boutique-y. And it's surprisingly affordable. Don't even bother looking anywhere else, stay HERE.

Claudine R.

Yelp
I stay here every time I come to the area. It's a great location. Free shuttle and the staff is very accommodating. Rooms are clean and the free breakfast is decent.

Lisa D.

Yelp
After a dozen days in Alaska in various sleeping quarters, we finally found a room that highly impressed us. The suites are very large, with a sitting room, an office area, a wet bar complete with a sink, refrigerator, and microwave, along with a good sized closet and bathroom plus two large beds to finally get a good night's sleep. This is the kind of room I would stay for a week and not feel like it was just a hotel. We were able to spread out and settle in for the duration of our stay. The shower was the first good, strong, hot shower, we had on the entire trip. The beds super comfortable and best of all, check out time is not until noon. We stayed in until 11:55 a.m. and while the room cleaners were waiting outside our room when we finally left, they were very nice. Everyone here was super friendly from the front desk, to the shuttle driver, to everyone we encountered at the Marriott. The hot breakfast was good, but the toffee scones stole the star for the best thing I ate in Alaska. The coffee was even impressive so no need to seek out a Starbucks nearby. We asked for recommendations for various things, and while they did refer us to the visitor center for some tour suggestions, which is only a five minute walk down along the river, they did share their personal opinions about food options in the area. The free shuttle goes from the train station, to some area attractions, and to the airport. We took the shuttle to the popular riverboat cruise after we checked out and had left our luggage with the concierge intending to come back after the cruise to get out luggage then take the next shuttle to the airport. When we arrived at the riverboat we realized the airport was right across the street from the cruise area, so when we called for the shuttle to come get us after the cruise we asked if it was possible to bring our luggage from the hotel, pick us up from the riverboat and drop us and our luggage at the airport for our flight home, rather than us going back and forth. They were willing to do this for us, so we were very satisfied with this accommodation. Overall, everything about this Marriott was amazing and we would highly recommend staying here when in Fairbanks.

John G.

Yelp
Room/suite was very nice and spacious. I liked the operable window. We stayed on an award, so I can't speak to pricing. The included breakfast (I don't think it's included for all guests) had a lot of selection and was ok, but chefless, with everything prepackaged. No freshly prepared pancakes, waffles, or eggs. There was a pile of cold, hard boiled eggs that I suspect were purchased pre-peeled and frozen. The bagged breakfast burrito (at least, that's what I think it was) was a gloppy blob. The cellophane wrapped "Belgian waffle" with a container of the cheapest pancake syrup imaginable was literally unpalatable. I virtually never waste food, but this leathery item went straight to the garbage after one attempted bite. Very nice hotel but I'd like to see them redesign breakfast, including rigid utensils. Perfect downtown location. Included internet is about 12 Mbps, which is adequate for most purposes. Oops, I guess I shouldn't say that lest they pay attention and slow it down. Faster internet costs $10/day.

Yelp
The only hotel to stay in Fairbanks (mostly because its the only Marriott). Wonderful location downtown and parking is "limited," as you will see in other reviews. However, they have an overfill lot and a parking garage of which they will validate the tickets. Never had an issue with parking, even during the Midnight Sun Festival. As you can see from the mention of the festival above, we were there from Jun 15-20, right before the Solstice and the brightest/longest days of the year. The hotel gave good instructions and plenty of notice about how to maneuver through the town due to the Festival on June 18 and where to park. Since the hotel is in downtown, the Festival was actually in the hotel parking lot. If you like this, as we did, it was great. If you hate the festival atmosphere, than don't come during the Solstice. Staff was very friendly and hotel is updated as far as Springhills go. Room was slightly oddly shaped, but was very manageable. Window had black-out curtains to block out the midnight sun that shined during our stay. Housekeeping was just fine, got my extra towels and pillows as requested. Breakfast was typical, however I'd really like a waffle iron on weekdays. I do not see the point of taking it away during weekdays and only having it on weekends, many people (including me) get tired of buffet-style scrambled eggs. This seems to be a chain policy; however, so I cannot blame the hotel. Pool needs to be retiled or resurfaced, but was clean. Whirlpool WAS VERY NICE! It was large, good temperature, and worked perfectly. A little investment into the pool area would make it 5-star. Laundry machines worked nicely but make sure to use LOW HEAT. Even that can be a little warm (especially if you hate shrunken clothes). $7 for wash, dry, and detergent. Its a money maker, but not outrageous. Free wifi, but no option for higher speeds like at some hotels (not like it is really faster anyway). There is an airport shuttle, but never had to use it, so I cannot provide any details. Restaurant downstairs in not really affiliated with the hotel and draws plenty of outsiders. It is very high-end so don't expect cheap. Prices are reasonable for what you receive, portions good and overall great food (steak, seafood, some pasta, etc.) . Ate here twice during stay since it was so convenient. Highly recommend you try it at least once.

Yelp
We were only able to stay one night as we were flying out the next day. The staff we met were friendly and even the maintenance guy was friendly as he took our luggage cart back to the lobby for us. The hotel was clean. The rooms were very clean, modern, large and user friendly. Hit the bar after dinner and the staff there was friendly also. Too bad we could only stay one night

Yelp
I stayed here two nights ago. My room was beautiful and quite roomy. Comfortable bed and sofa. Friendly staff. And the best hotel breakfast I've ever had! The onsite restaurant was very good, as well.

Yelp
Very cool home base for touring Fairbanks' attractions. Staff friendly, rooms spacious and modern (recently decorated) & above all, clean! The iHome radio was a nice option to play my music. Breakfast very ample, although we didn't chow down like most of the hungry hippos at last supper. Exercise room, pool & jacuzzi very nice option to work off all those reindeer sausages & beer or to defrost from the cold. Staff has an Aurora call that you can sign up to receive one in the case that the Northern Lights are strutting their stuff in the early morning sky. Ample parking near the entry or across the street (there's another lot off of 2nd Ave). Also in wintertime, remember to plug in your car overnight and to remove the cord when you back up (almost got sling shot cord lashed when a clueless tourist backed out while still plugged in).

Yelp
I stay here every year for about a week or more on business. I have seen it age a little bit through the years I think it's time for a room upgrade. No easily accessible plugs in the bed stand and just minor things that can be fixed to bring it up to current standards. The front desk staff is very friendly. The elevators and the Wi-Fi are tragically very very slow. On this day I had a. Surprising interaction with the manager that left a bad taste. She definitely needs to go back to Marriott school. I am a titanium Elite which usually means you're given a little extra attention or service. I asked for a very simple late check-out on a Friday and the hotel was half empty but she still wanted to charge me for that which I've never experienced in my 15 years of loyalty and Marriott. I saw a very nice New Hampton as I was driving around and next time based on just the interaction with a manager I might just switch. Service matters.

Yelp
It's a pretty standard Springhill - clean, comfortable, microwave, fridge. Couple of drawbacks: the curtains bled in sunlight (and in June/July it's a 24 hour helping o' sunny) like a scalp wound. Wowwee - I could READ with the curtains fully closed at midnight it was so light in there. I asked the front desk if they had eye masks and the guy sounded puzzled as he said "No... why?" Oh, I don't know, p'haps because I don't sleep well when my seratonin levels are zip. I found a mask at Walmart for less than four bucks and I would've paid ten times that, I needed sleep so badly. Other issue: holy cow, the number of people tromping through during the summer months. The cruise ships park a bunch of tourists and they must turn at least every other night, which must be wear and tear on the property. And get ready for full body contact at the breakfast buffet. It's really crowded and those folks not only want their full breakfast, they want to raid for snacks and maybe lunch snuck into their purses. Parking: limited right by the hotel, but they have a lot across the street. Most of the guests arrive by monster motor coach, anyway. But, once you get away from the crowds and don an eye mask, you're good. Decent - but go prepared.

Yelp
Perfectly located in the heart of Fairbanks, it was a good choice to make this my base camp and go out for daily (and nightly!) excursions. This hotel is clean, the staff are courteous, the breakfast has a lot of variety, the Internet service is reliable, there is a good supply of parking, and the shuttle to/from the airport is a great bonus. Will definitely return in the future, and I highly recommend this hotel to other travelers in search of all the adventures that Alaska has to offer.

Yelp
If you are looking for a nicer hotel in Fairbanks this is it. It has a pool, the rooms are set up very nicely. You aren't worried about bed bugs, even though I check every place we go. I am only giving 4 stars though because the staff could use some customer service work. They seem pleasant at first but then when you talk with them, you realize they don't care what the problem is. So heads up bring towels to the pool just in case they are out. Also be very careful getting in the shower. There isn't anything on the bottom to stop you from slipping and falling. My kids ate it twice and then I almost did. Note to self bring bath mat next time.

Yelp
I enjoy staying here during work travel when my 1st option is not available (Hampton Inn): - staff at front desk has typically been slow and or short-staffed - lots of dang tourists in the summer which means their checking-in process needs to be re-vamped for business (regulars) and for tourists who've never stayed there before - their pricing works for my needs - the rooms & bathrooms are modern, clean, but not as new as Hampton - they have a kitchenette area (sink, tall fridge; Hampton only has microwave & fridge) - they have morning breakfast included (lots of things but I only have hard-boiled eggs and fruit) - parking is a pain in the ass as you will get towed if you don't get a special sticker to put in your car from the front desk - getting to the airport from here is not so easy as you have to navigate through 1-way streets in downtown - lots of homeless drunks near the hotel.. makes getting in to your hotel early for the night a necessity - free wi-fi - another plus: Lavelle's downstairs... where they have very tasty, though pricey, glasses of wine.

Yelp
I stayed here with my family and friends. They have a major overbooking issue here. Despite having reservations, they had no rooms for us. The receptionist had to call the Westmark hotel to get us rooms there for the night. After the one night at the Westmark we had to go back to Springhill Suites, b/c the Westmark was sold out. When we finally stayed at the Springhill Suites, the room was a decent size and clean. Not the greatest of areas b/c they had lot of walking traffic in the lobby.

Yelp
It's shocking that a hotel in Alaska...the land of the midnight sun...does not have good light blocking curtains! Yes, there are light blocking curtains in our room, but they do not go down to the floor or all the way to the end of the walls, which lets a LOT of light in-- enough so that we had problems sleeping because at 2am, with the curtains shut, it is daylight in our room! We are here to SLEEP! Please fix the curtain situation for the next weary travelers. Also, we are non-smokers and our room smelled like a nasty cigarette. The couch is "well-loved" as there is a huge dip in the seat cushions where thousands of other travelers have sat before. Complimentary breakfast seemed OK, although I did not have any. But my husband seemed to enjoy it enough. I would've given this hotel another star, but because I am tired and crabby from a poor night of sleep they only get 2 stars. This is a low-end hotel for high-end prices. (We paid $200 per night)

Yelp
Everyone here was very nice. I felt pretty secure needing a door key to access the floors. Very good free breakfast! House keeping was always very nice. Central to many things and the shuttle is great and took me to Fred Meyer, the hockey game, the ice park, and the airport. They were booked very full, but handled it well.

Yelp
Clean rooms and lobby. The breakfast bar was nice, and employees were very friendly. Hotel rooms were spacious, and they honored government rate. My only complaint is the tap water had a fuel like odor/taste, but that might be something common to the city of Fairbanks

Yelp
The employees go out of their way to take care of you. The staff that runs the breakfast keep the food fresh and the area is always clean and presentable. The front desk keep up with happenings and maps to improve your visit. The housekeeping staff always were friendly and on the ball when you needed something. Great job when you are so far from home and there for 2 weeks Thank you

Yelp
We recently stayed at Springhill and were very pleased with our stay. First, it was very easy to make reservations online. When we got there, we were greeted by friendly and helpful people. The room was nice and clean and their restaurant was excellent (a little high in price but the food was delicious). We had a rental car and had no problem parking close to the hotel. All in all, we would definitely go back there if we visited Fairbanks again.

Yelp
They have very nice, clean, and spacious suites rooms. I loved the granite counter top in the bathroom and the room has a sink and fridge. The bedding is a little thin but comfortable. You can walk to the main part of the town. They also have a shuttle bus goes to different areas of Fairbanks. What I was so impressed about this place is that I forgot my whole makeup bag in the bathroom and they sent me the stuff to my home address right away, after one phone call. Great place to stay when in Fairbanks.

Yelp
This hotel is being redone and, despite some rather dubious color combinations in my room, they've done a good job. The service is solid and the beds are very comfy. Apparently, it used to be kind of rundown. So if you've stayed here before, you might want to try again.

Yelp
Can't complain. The service was great. The room was clean. Free breakfast was delicious. The staffs were very friendly, albeit rather slowly. But it's not their fault. I was there during Fairbanks' super busy week. My visit was very pleasant because of them. Thanks.

Yelp
I stayed here for business in March and it's a decent place and it's clean. No complaints. Location is good, room was quiet and the best thing is the restaurant it's connected to. Lavelle's is a great place. Don't miss it.

Yelp
This hotel was the worst ever. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. No movie rentals, n they did have it before. Loud vent noise all night n morning. No waffles maker n they did have it, all my kids were excited for the waffles all night. Some manager kicked us out of pool at 9 n it's open until 11, but stood there n watched me n my four girls get out of pool which was very uncomfortable n plane weird. One of my girls is 14 years old n felt violated while he watched us. We will never be renting this hotel again.

Yelp
This is a pretty standard hotel in the heart of the city. The rooms are clean and spacious, since they're technically suites, but nothing special. They offer free breakfast which is common in most hotels there. Since it's in the city, they have limited parking, and can see it being an issue during peak seasons. At nights, we had a hard time finding a spot, even at an adolescent lot they have. The lobby is nice with a desk and the breakfast area. Checking-in was time consuming since they only had one employee there. However, the staff was friendly, and recommended good aurora viewing points, and provided a copy of a hand-drawn map leading there. The breakfast is very okay. Usual spread of baked goods, toast, eggs, cereal, coffee, etc. I liked that they had fresh fruit on weekdays, but had a waffle iron on weekends instead. My only complain in the breakfast was that they were out of the baked stuff much before closing, but did not bother replacing it. There was also no one there to ask for more. Also, the first day, I told an employee of the toaster not working, but it was still kept there on all other days of my stay. I understand it could not be replaced immediately, but what's the point of keeping a broken toaster just to show, when it cannot be used at all. Housekeeping was not special either. When we went out during the day, housekeeping made the queen beds, but did not bother arranging the sofa bed which was pulled out and used. Also, they only keep three towels for some reason, and even after directly asking for an extra one, they still kept only three the subsequent days. These are small quirks, but they hotel itself is reasonably nice, and the rate is good. This would be perfect if you don't have a rental car, and plan to take guided tours everywhere, since it has plenty of dining options around it. I hear they have free airport transfers as well, but didn't need it since we had a rental car for the duration of our trip. If you have a rental car, you probably could try a better hotel at the same rate. I will personally not go back here unless they have a substantially lower rate than the competition, but would recommend this hotel to first timers in Fairbanks for its downtown location.
