This was our first time visiting New Smyrna Beach, and we wanted to stay right on the water—SpringHill Suites seemed like the perfect fit.
Upon arrival, the front desk staff was incredibly welcoming. I believe the gentleman who checked us in was named Noah—he was super helpful and got us checked in quickly. Once we got to our room, we realized it didn’t have a tub, which we needed since we were traveling with a baby. The front desk staff was able to switch our room without any issues, and they promptly sent up a pack-n-play as well.
The hotel and rooms do show some wear and tear, which is understandable given the beachfront location. Our balcony had chipped paint and tiles, the floors were scuffed, and the bathroom vanity showed signs of water damage. We also noticed the bathwater had a yellow tint when filling it for our baby—possibly due to hard water in the area? My blonde hair even turned a noticeably yellow shade after showering, which was odd. Still, nothing serious enough to ruin our trip.
Our main complaint was the condition of the floors when we first arrived. They were sticky and appeared not to have been mopped. We asked the afternoon desk agent to have someone clean them while we were out to dinner, but unfortunately, no one ever came. As a result, we had to deal with dirty floors throughout our stay. Additionally, the AC could be adjusted during the day but seemed locked at 73°F overnight, which made the room warmer than we preferred. The AC vents could also use a good cleaning.
On the plus side, the daily breakfast was a nice touch. While the offerings were the same each day—eggs, sausage, breads, cereal, yogurt, oatmeal, fruit, juice, and coffee—it was a convenient and appreciated way to start the morning.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The highlight was definitely the staff. From the front desk and lobby bar to housekeeping and maintenance, everyone we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and quick with a smile. Truly a 10/10 when it comes to hiring the right people!
