The Springville Art museum celebrated its 100th year of the Art Salon last year (2024), and this is really quite an amazing museum in Utah, about one hour drive south of Salt Lake City. It is a beautiful building with two stories of art, with an absolutely jaw-dropping collection of Soviet art that is indeed one of the best in America that I have seen thus far. The former director of the museum (Vern Swanson) has written books on Soviet impressionist art, along with many other books, and there is also a retrospective on the work of John Hafen, Utah's most famous painter, along with various sculptures from the Utahn Cyrus Edwin Dallin. They have rotating exhibits on the first floor that feature the annual spring Salon with Utah artists, along with other time featuring more religious/spiritual art or high school artists. I visited for the first time last week, and I was stunned by how beautiful this museum is. There is ample parking. I wish the museum did more advertising for itself, as I had not heard of this until someone informed me about it, and I never saw ads or billboards announcing this museum. It is well worth the trip, and I consider it to be the best art museum in Utah that I have seen thus far, and I have visited the ones in Salt Lake City. I will definitely be returning in the coming months and years!
