For those looking for a beautiful New York getaway, look no further! In August, my wife and I eloped at the Spruceton Inn, as a hurricane swept through New York. While this would have spelled disaster for most ceremonies, the Spruceton Inn is surrounded by beautiful mountains, trees, and creeks, and the rain and fog made an already beautiful property that much more breathtaking. Our lodging was very cozy and private, even though you have guests on each side of you. The rooms have everything that you need including cooking utensils and pots/pans. At night, guests were out and about enjoying drinks at a bar run by the Spruceton Inn’s owners, and even in the rain, there was a fire pit for those who wanted to enjoy the beautiful outdoors around them. On top of all that, both the owners of the inn are so kind and accommodating. They made our elopement so special and we plan on going back next year for our anniversary!

We had an absolutely magical stay here. The Inn is lovely and very comfortable and the landscape is gorgeous. Very peaceful and restorative, with lots of great hiking nearby. Also: a library in a barn! Can't wait to come back.

This place truly felt like I was just visiting some friends. The beds are fantastic, the views are spectacular, the property has hammocks strewn around where I could spend a day reading listening to stream. Casey and Steve are the warmest hosts you'd meet. West Kill brewery is next door, just a 3 min walk in case you are here without a car, like me. Come as guests and leave as friends. I truly felt at home here because this is also a "book barn" - a barn full of books written by former residents. It's so lovely I almost want to keep this place a secret.

Friendly owners, simple clean room with good heat/Air Conditioning. A place you go to when you want to chill. Sleep in a hammock outside. Read books in their barn. Grill outside. Not fancy. There are only a few rooms and it was a friendly crowd in the Room 1 bar.

This was a surprise found for Weekend Gateway. Luckily one room was available for just one day of the trip. I came to know from a New York Times post.|No mobile networks but the hotel has decent wifi. ||Location: This place is in the quiet, remote, and middle of the mountain. Only 8 rooms. Run by the couple. No crowd or town or tourists. |Room: Queen bed, kitchen, and some utensils. The bed was comfortable. The view from the room is amazing. Night time watching stars and moon. The only bad thing was cleaning, found behind the door, bed, or under the bed dead insects and spiders. |Service: run by a couple and the expectation for this location is you want to go quiet and different place. Don't explore big hotels or motel kind of things. The owner is very welcoming and social. The couple are writers.|They serve breakfast - pop-tarts and off.|Evening they have wine and cocktail hours. You have a chance to meet them and other guests.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Kitchenette room in the Spring. The weather was really cold for April but it was still a very relaxing getaway from the city! The room is very cozy with a very nice view of the wilderness, and the kitchen has all the essential utensils needed for cooking. There are plenty of BBQ grills and fire pits around, and a creek behind the Inn, which will be perfect for Summer weather. We'll definitely come back!

We went in February for a snowshoeing getaway, but it was 65 degrees when we arrived with very little snow left. Nevertheless, we had a terrific time. It was warm enough to sleep with the window open, and we fell asleep to the sound of the West Kill babbling away. The bed was insanely comfortable. The rooms are simply but lovingly appointed. The little cantina has a great selection of local brews and spirits, and you can even buy local burgers, maple syrup, and eggs. Free coffee and pop tarts are included with your stay. Just down the road, there is access to a number of awesome hiking trails. If you don't want to hike, you can simply relax with a book in a hammock, by the stream, or lounge around in bed. Hubby spent about 45 minutes chasing a bluebird around with his camera. It's just a good place to go escape the hustle & bustle and recharge. Even though our weather was dreary, the mist was enhanced by the surrounding hills and valleys, and it was beautiful. I already have plans to go back!

My husband and I stayed at the Spruceton Inn for a weekend while we were in the area for a wedding and we loved it! ||||The inn is sort of out of the way, but it also has some great attractions really close to it, so while we had a 30 minute drive to the site for the wedding we were attending, once we were at the inn, we felt like we had everything we needed. The day of the wedding, we took a hike just down the street to the waterfall, and stopped off at West Kill Brewing on the way back. ||||The room was simple, with a big, comfortable bed and a good amount of space. The rooms have front windows, as well as a huge rear window that overlooks the backyard. Since it was summer, the yard was a beautiful meadow with flowers. We had a few bugs in the room, likely because it was summer and there was a light above the door (and the fact that most of our comings and goings were at night...), but that is to be expected. Our room also had some cool art on the walls, which is all for sale - some of which was done by the same artist who did the labels for the beer cans at the brewery. ||||There is no wifi in the room. Wifi is available only in the bar/office, which is located in Room One. There is no cell phone service in the area at all, but honestly, it was kind of nice. The bar is really cool - you can also have coffee and Pop Tarts there in the morning - and there is a fire pit right outside. There are also fire pits and grills scattered around the property, and that sort of made us wish we were staying longer. ||||If you live in a city and decide to stay at the Spruceton Inn, make sure you take a few minutes to appreciate just how many stars are visible! When we pulled in on our first night, I got out of the car, looked up, and gasped. Don't worry about the wifi, stay here and spend all your time looking up.

Yelp
The Spruceton Inn is a special place. It's a quaint motel/inn with simple but well considered amenities, a cozier-then-heck bar, and amazing mountain / valley views. There's nothing like waking up to mist rolling down the mountains or the first rays of light coming up from the east end of the valley. I've stayed 3 times since they opened and relish the experience each time. The innkeepers are some of the nicest people on the planet and will set you on your way if you need ideas for day trips or hikes or good food. So, yes, the drive out here is worth it. You won't find another place like this in the Catskills.

Yelp
thank the lord for weekend getaways. i was blessed to win an all-inclusive trip to the catskills one fine weekend earlier this summer - so my friend and i adventured out of brooklyn and drove up north to settle in here for a couple nights. i had been hearing nothing but positive comments since they opened up in the spring - so it was such a cool thing to see our experience play out the same way. i can't get over how friendly the innkeeper, casey, and her husband were. the type of people you don't have to over-think things with - they are genuine, welcoming, and - not in their 60s. haha i appreciated their youthfulness, relateability, and that she's an ex-brooklynite. when you wake up in the morning (and hoist yourself out of a most-comfy bed) - opening the curtains to the sight of the mountains, their adorable garden, and that semi-secluded feeling ~ you just know your days getting a fantastic head-start.
