From the moment that we arrived at Squam Lake Inn we felt immediately at home. Perfectly situated for the activities around Squam Lake and the surrounding area. Rooms at the Inn are very comfortable and clean and the added bonus is the adjoining Inn and Kitchen Bar/'Restaurant. Credit to the owners Molly and Brendan who pay attention to the finer details and employ some of the best and friendliest staff ever. Food at breakfast and dinner is just great, including the best Margaritas , and we noticed that they had many returning clients. It was truly the highlight of our trip to New England. A wonderful memory for us to treasure.

I had been dreaming about enjoying a stay at a place on the lake, and immersing in the gorgeous and haunting call of loons in the early hours of the morning during my summer vacation. Since I had never been to New Hampshire, when I came across 'Squam Lake Inn' on the web, the name grabbed me and I thought my dream had come true. Assumptions tend to disappoint in major ways. The Inn's name is misleading. Quite the misnomer. Granted, when I spoke to Brendan (owner) on the phone, 3 days before my arrival, he did confirm that the Inn was not on, or even in close proximity to Squam Lake. He did say it would get very noisy with the constant parade of motorcycles. Brendan though did kindly upgrade me, at no extra charge, to a room with a king size bed when I explained I'd be traveling with my teenage son. I'm extremely grateful for this kindness on his part. The room, however, felt cramped and it seemed like a cruel joke when I saw its name - Loon... since there is no lake nor loon in sight at Squam Lake Inn.||We arrived at the Inn on Sunday (Father's Day), June 15, 2025. The front desk staff member was very welcoming. About an hour after settling in our room, my son and I headed to their restaurant, The Inn Kitchen. The food was tasty, with great service as well. After dinner, we got in our car and drove around to 'see' the lake (Squam). When we came back to the Inn, all parking spots were taken, and I was told to park anywhere I could find parking in areas outside and surrounding the Inn. Great disappointment! If I'm a patron not only of your Inn, but your restaurant as well, I expect to have parking available in the immediate area within the Inn's parking space, and not have to drive around in order to find a 'parking space' for the night. It seems that it being Father's Day and the restaurant full, there was no place to park for the patron (me). Squam Lake Inn is quaint and rustic with beautiful decor which I truly enjoy. But, its name is misleading with no lake in sight, and no parking priority given to the Inn's patrons either. Both being huge disappointments!||We stayed only for one night and not the other 4 nights originally reserved. The owners at Squam Lake Inn, however, were kind enough to refund us a great portion of our money. I do not foresee a future stay at Squam Lake Inn simply because it is not the sort of 'stay' that caters to my likes and needs. But, it may very well be, and seems to be, the perfect 'stay' place for many others.

Although the main Inn was not open at this time of year, the hosts were gracious enough to let me stay in the one room they had with its own private entrance. The room was spacious, well-decorated with soothing colors, and very comfortable. The king-sized bed with super-soft sheets was terrific, making getting up for my morning meeting difficult. The attached bath was bright and clean, and the bathrobes were a nice addition to the mini-spa night I created for myself! I look forward to staying here again when I can spend more time exploring the area and beautiful Squam Lake!

Google
A+ from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. We ate at the restaurant both nights and the food was delicious. Drinks were amazing too. This was the first place we've been in ages where the entire staff - front desk to servers to housekeeping - all seemed like they wanted to be there. What a great vibe all weekend long. Highly recommend this place. Lots of special touches. Great communication. Just book your stay now!

My husband and I stayed here for the first time recently and we really loved everything about our stay. The inn is lovely... quaint, clean and many nice amenities. The service is fantastic and all of the staff is so friendly and helpful. It's a big plus having a restaurant on site. We enjoyed our dinners here, as well as conversations with Molly and Sarah. The delicious breakfasts were prepared by Brendan and it was great chatting with him each morning. Our room, Squam, was clean and very comfortable, with a great shower, fireplace and comfy chairs. We will definitely return to this inn, highly recommended!

This is the fifth year staying with Brendan and Molly and I can’t say enough wonderful things! Atmosphere, cleanliness, comfort and dining are all phenomenal! We just came back from our first stay this year, and will be heading back in 3 weeks!!!

First visit to The Squam Lake Inn, early January 2025. Nice settings, room was great and it was nice with the gas fireplace in the cold weather. The restaurant was excellent, both for dinner and breakfast. Ended up having dinner here throughout the stay. Homemade cookies and coffee/ tea station upstairs was very nice. The staff was excellent, and felt very well taken care of. Great location and easy access to the mountains. Would highly recommend.

Google
Our stay at the Squad Lake Inn was nothing short of amazing. We truly found a hidden gem in the Lakes Region. Molly, Brendan, Sarah and Liz were warm and welcoming, while meeting all of our needs. Every single detail that Molly and Brendan have put into this inn did not go unnoticed. From the luxurious bedding, to flavorful food, to the cleanest inn floor to ceiling. I would recommend this inn to anyone seeking to find a little getaway in the Lakes Region! We will be back!

Yelp
Just spend a wonderful weekend at the Squam Lake Inn. The staff were amazingly friendly and welcoming. Our room, Egals Nest, was clean and the bed was so comfortable. Even though we only live 25 minutes away, my husband and I like to just get away for a weekend from time to time, this was the perfect spot. Now on to the best part of the Inn, the food! The restaurant in the inn is simply amazing. We had dinner there both nights and not one thing disappointed. Each morning the breakfast was perfect. We will definitely return! Thank you for a wonderful weeekend.

Yelp
Had a fabulous meal tonight at Squam Lake Inn. Drinks, Apps, Salads, Entrees and Desserts at the table for our party of six and everyone was pleased. Great service and a comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Our meal at the Squam Lake Inn encompassed both their happy hour and dinner. Their staff is super friendly and attentive! They have good selections on their menu. Their wine list is quite affordable. For our first course, I had the cheese plate and my wife had oysters. The oysters were quite yummy and only $2 each during happy hour (4-5), but the sauce was quite bitter. The cheese plate was excellent and quite enjoyable. For dinner, I ordered the burger. It was a good burger, but not the best I have had. It lacked a bit of "juice." The toppings were good and there were generous home fries from real potatoes. One of the tables ordered the fries well done and I wish I had done the same, as they were a bit undercooked. My wife ordered the scallops and really enjoyed them. However, they were quite pricy, $44 for just 5 scallops. We were excited to try dessert, but the menu was quite lacking. Overall, we think this is an excellent restaurant with some room for improvement.

Yelp
There aren't enough good things I can say about the Squam Lake Inn. We consider it our home away from home. This year was our fourth visit to the Inn and it did not disappoint. Two years ago we convinced a group of friends to join us at the Inn and they have now also fallen in love with the inn and we are planning our 2022 summer plans at the Inn already. This time around we chose to stay in the newest suite (White Oak) and would absolutely want to stay in that room again. It is incredibly large, the bathroom is huge, and it connects to the Eagles Nest room if, like us, you are traveling with a group and want to have connected rooms. The Inn was beyond clean (like it always has been) but with an extra level of sanitization given the Covid pandemic. One thing we really enjoyed was the contactless check in as well as the daily check in texts to see if we wanted our room cleaned, just new linens, or nothing at all. Molly, Brendan, and Sarah were super friendly, accommodating, and made us feel at home. The daily breakfasts (which are included in your room rate) which are for Inn guests only were delicious. They offer a daily homemade hot breakfast but also accommodate if you do not like or cannot eat what is offered. Our favorite this year was the blueberry glazed french toast! Also, not sure how they do it, but they still have the worlds most perfectly cooked and delicious bacon. We were also glad to see they still offer a daily "treat" in the main lobby. This changes daily and included a homemade baked good (i.e. chocolate chip cookies, lemon cookies, spice cookies, etc.). If you stay at the inn I would also highly recommend you do at least one dinner at the Inn Kithchen + Bar which is their on site restaurant. The food/drinks are delicious and the staff are awesome. We cannot wait to see the SLI crew again in 2022!

Yelp
What a wonderful, if too short, stay. Cute Inn, cute town! Tay was amazingly cheerful, helpful, and accommodating, and got our stay off to a great start.

Yelp
We recently had an important family gathering at the Squam Lake Inn. Molly and her crew did everything imaginable to make it lovely and unforgettable! The food, the setting and the staff were amazing. We are so grateful to them for going the extra mile for us.

Yelp
From the time we arrived to the time we left everything was fantastic. Friendly greeting and details about the inn and the area were given. The inn and room were especially clean, the attention to detail throughout was spectacular. Dinner was amazing the chef totally went over the top. Choices were perfect, much more than just dinner the flavors and seasonings were perfect. Our server Ashley was so attentive and friendly, relaxed atmosphere with a warm feeling. Breakfast was again perfect, all fresh products and ingredients. The staff was so friendly and kind. We wanted for nothing when we departed. I highly recommend a visit and dinner at the inn. Great experience and example of how to treat guests, and run a first class Inn.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to try this bed and breakfast for a nice getaway back in November 2021. What a wonderful hidden gem. We love the movie "On Golden Pond" so we were like lets stay in the area where they filmed this classic 80's movie. The owners of Squam Lake Inn were so nice. It started off rough at first. The first room we had the bed was so hard and the room seemed claustrophobic. The owners were so accommodating and upgraded our room to upstairs with a bigger room and softer bed. The meals they serve in their restaurant were absolutely delicious. It did get very busy for dinners since their restaurant is open to all and there isn't really a lot of nearby eateries. I did love the ambiance, the staff and the food. So all in all I would come back again. Hurry Norman, hurry come see the loons. Don't be an old poop. ;)

Cindy M.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time here in May. We had the lovely, private room with the exterior entrance. Would definitely stay again. The food and the hosts were amazing. Thank you.

Yelp
I had an opportunity to stay at Squam Lake Inn for a few days. AMAZING! I would return in a heart beat. The room I stayed in was lovely. The King sized bed was cozy, & the bath towels were luxurious. The little things like cookies in the evening along with hot tea or coffee on a cold evening next to the fire in the lobby was just the treat for any traveler. And the provided Breakfast at the Inn was French toast on Challah bread, fruit, bacon and warmed Vermont maple syrup. Delicious! I would absolutely recommend this Inn.

Yelp
Just had an amazing beyond meat burger SLI style which is with a Portobello mushroom, cheddar cheese and caramelized onions! I had the green beans rather than fried which were excellent although my husband had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with fries and I did steal a few.... They were sooo good! Service was great and the front house was welcoming and pleasant which sadly these days is a rarity.

Yelp
Very cute B&B ! The owners were very friendly and the place was straight out of a Hallmark Christmas movie! It even snowed for our recent stay in December. Food was awesome and the rooms were very clean and beds super comfortable ! We will be back for sure !!

Yelp
We stumbled upon the Squam Lake Inn when our dinner reservation at another inn was cancelled due to the chef's illness. Molly, the owner of Squam Lake Inn, was warm and welcoming as were her staff and patrons. The bartender, Clay, and waitstaff took great care of us. The chef even came out for a moment to meet people and accept their praises. Dinner, drinks, dessert amazing. Wedge salad. Harvest salad. Oysters. Mussels. Fried chicken. Salmon. Brownie ice cream sandwich. All delicious. High Haith Sour was a favorite from the cocktail menu. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine and draft beer. Thank you, Molly. We can't wait to return!!

Yelp
My sister and I had the most relaxing vacation at Squam Lake Inn. We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed the serene atmosphere. Our room was very clean and cozy. The Wifi was very strong and allowed both of us to work remotely for the week as needed. The morning breakfasts were delicious. If you get a chance to try the blueberry pancakes, you will not be disappointed! We also loved that the Inn was just down the road from town so it was an easy walk to enjoy the lake views and the local marketplace. Thank you for the great stay and we can't wait to come back!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to the inn during a recent trip to Squam lake this past weekend. We booked the reservation ahead of time via resy. I had never used it before but it was super easy to use. When we showed up to the inn we were promptly seated outside. The weather was lovely! We ordered some of the specialty drinks off the menu and the cheese board to get started. The cheese board was absolutely AMAZING!! I ordered the short rib and polenta as my main meal and it was so delicious. The short rib just fell off the bone. My boyfriend got the bbq ribs. The sauce was homemade. He said it was tasty but he was definitely jealous of my short ribs! Overall, the service was friendly and prompt. A great experience.

Hannah K.

Yelp
Hadn' been here in a few years. Went to dinner with my family and had a great experience with our server Taylor. The drinks, food, service and atmosphere was incredible. Will definitely be returning soon!

Christina And Rob P.

Yelp
All booked, but there were 2 seats open at the bar (w/ full menu), so we were able to check this place out! The bartender, Sarah, was wonderful to talk with and we enjoyed watching her mix up all the drinks. Everything was delicious! I got the Buttermilk Chicken (swapped fries for salad with no issue). The coleslaw, chicken, and salad were all on point. I'll definitely try more of their salads next time I come back. Also got a few fries from my husband and they were juuust right. Husband got 50/50 burger and said he was pretty sure it was the best burger he had ever eaten... High praise indeed. And he agreed the fries were marvelous. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Restaurant review- I adore the SLI Kitchen and always make a point to have dinner here when we come to Squam. Let's start with the staff: friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. My 3 yr old was having a hard time and a bartender went out of her way to engage her and even brought her some kids magazines to look at much to her and fellow diners delight. Food has always been excellent with a well balanced menu. I love their ice cream sandwiches and although pricey, they are delicious. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
My first time eating here. I chose this place because it looked special and we were celebrating our birthdays. It met my expectations. I had the 50/50 burger and my husband had the steak frites (we were in the mood for beef :). We had our usual vodka martinis (the we're made perfectly and we are particular). Portion size is not huge but plenty for a normal size meal. My husband would have preferred a thicker cut of beef but the steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. Pricing is average but can add up when you add cocktails and wine. Atmosphere is super friendly and very attentive service. I look forward to returning and having a relaxed evening with fine food and service

Yelp
Haven't stayed at the Inn but dined at the Kitchen two nights in a row this week. Easily the best meal in the area. And we ate across the street at the fancy Manor earlier in the week and came away feeling a little creeped out (sidenote: it's so easy to slightly modernize an old dusty historic institution, make the investment!) My husband and I had a date night and enjoyed 1. the awesome cheese plate that came with honeycomb and tomato jam 2. the salmon and ahi entrees cooked (and not cooked!) perfectly and 3. a carrot cake cupcake big enough to share. The next night we came back with my 19 year old son and his girlfriend and again, all of our food was delish. We did not have reservations either night, so sat at the community table but that was fine with us - created some poetry with words on the wall, and had great people watching. Service the first night was choppy because they were slammed but we didn't mind, second night service was great. Only thing they could improve on is maybe being open an hour later. Those of us city dwellers aren't used to eating at 5pm! But maybe that's a good thing, too.

Megan A.

Yelp
I can not sing enough praise for this place! I am so happy that we finally tried it! Food that won't be found in the lakes region. Cocktails and wine list amazing and our server, Steve, was second to none! A must try!

Yelp
We booked a 3 night mid week stay at this adorable bed and breakfast just to get away for our 30th anniversary. I will admit, I was a little disappointed at first that we didn't have lake access, and we were contemplating relocating. We decided to stay one night because we were tired and didn't feel like doing research. Due to a recent strong storm in the area, internet service had been knocked out and our tv was not working properly. The staff was working hard to restore everything, but our tv wasn't responding despite repeated attempts to fix. The owner, Rae, immediately upgraded our room to a suite, and made sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable. The next morning we rolled downstairs for our breakfast and were greeted with amazing lemon blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs (perfectly done) and fruit. The staff up to this point was so accommodating, and the food was so good, that we decided to forgo looking any further and stayed put. We are so happy we did. Due to Covid regulations, we were given options for room cleaning. We opted for putting our dirty towels in the laundry bag and having them washed and replaced. They were returned so quickly, it was amazing. Each breakfast was different and wonderful. Turns out the owner is the chef as well, and the one night we stayed in for dinner, we were amazed at the choices and quality of the food. The waitstaff was friendly, outgoing, funny and warm. The vibe is that of being at a friends home for dinner. I can't say enough how happy I am we decided to stay. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Wonderful dining inside and outside on their patio. Great service and a wonderful menu that I believe changes from time to time. We have been multiple times and it is always memorable including when they hosted my father's 80th birthday party and handled a group of 25 or so.
google avatar

Makenzi C.

Yelp
After reading the reviews we really wanted to stop by. We wanted to like this a more than we did. The cocktail was very well made and our server Paula was incredible! The food was 50/50. I got a fried chicken sandwich that was good but not great. My guest ordered the ribs and was severely letdown here. the dessert was alright but nothing I needed to desperately have. Hit or miss if we'd come back.

Yelp
Fabulous!! Haves stopped in for lunch several times ( and been delighted) but first dinner experience. First off make reservations!! Word of the great food and service has gotten out and they are busy! Crab cake appetizer and oyster special started us off and they were perfect Entrees we enjoyed - flank iron steak frites and sautéed scallops could not have been any tastier. Special drink desert was a Makers Mark root beer float -- superb!!! Friendly and casual spot -- a must go!!! Squam lake inn kitchen and Bar!

Yelp
My family was lucky enough to attend the beautiful Squam Lake Inn for my older brothers wedding this past weekend. 5 stars is not enough when rating this beautiful Inn! The staff were attentive, welcoming and engaged with our guests. It was a beautiful setup outside for the dinner following their ceremony on beautiful Church Island. Our meal was delicious from the salad, rolls, main course (I got the swordfish and my fiance got the steak - both of which were fantastic) and ice cream sandwiches after! The breakfast at the inn is also spectacular and it is such a nice perk that breakfast is included in your stay as I find this rare nowadays. Our room was beautiful with a large upgraded bathroom. We are so looking forward to coming back to Squam Lake Inn for a weekend away! How wonderful it was to visit a place very close to my now sister in laws family's (and our family's) hearts. Thank you so much to everyone at the Squam Lake Inn for a wonderful stay and an amazing wedding weekend for R&R! :) We made memories here that will last a lifetime!

Sheri L.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Food was not very good, it lacked flavor. Presentation was great, it looked like each meal was going to be so delicious. We had lamb, steak, salmon and tuna. We have had meals all over the area as we live here but this was our first visit. I wish one of us had had the chicken to see how that was cooked. Probably not again for us. Service was so so, got our meal and didn't see him until we got our check.

Yelp
The best experience you can have in the Lakes Region. Gorgeous place, cute little town, excellent food, drinks, and service. Truly perfect.
google avatar

Yelp
Went here for lunch with a friend's family and it was a great little place for a meal out. The caprese sandwich and gazpacho were great, but the ice cream sandwiches were unique and amazing! If you come here for a meal, make sure to save room for dessert! The staff are very nice and seem appreciative of your patronage. The waitresses are all very prompt and helped us with anything we needed.
google avatar

Matthew P.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. I came here for lunch in a Saturday afternoon and as expected it was busy. For our three sandwiches it took about 10-15 minutes of a wait. The place is really good, great location, and the blt is amazing! The reason I gave it four stars is because it can be very pricey. We purchased three sandwiches, four sodas, and half a pound of potato salad. This all came to be about $43 so they can be pricey but for the most part it was very good! I would recommend it!

Michael A.

Yelp
In the culinary wasteland that is New Hampshire, this place stands out. We had the swordfish and rotisserie chicken and both were excellent and made with very fresh ingredients and interesting preparations. The craft beers and wines are high end. We were too full for dessert but the desserts looked amazing. Service was very friendly but a bit rough around the edges. We are snobby New York City area people so this is high praise.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Amazing!!!! Lobster BLT & a dark & stormy- perfection! Very expensive- a special treat for sure but we plan on it a few times during the summer. Too good and wonderful staff! Love the store as well!
google avatar

Jane H.

Yelp
I wouldn't have changed a thing about dinner (well, except maybe I would prefer not to lose my debit card 3 hours before). Such a pleasant outdoor patio, excellent service and the fried chicken rocked. What else....what else....? OH YEAH, the ice cream sandwiches!! Homemade ice cream, homemade cookies....oh man. Keep in mind, unless that's all you're having split it between two people. I have a sweet tooth and couldn't finish it all.
google avatar

Adam M.

Yelp
Great menu, brunch and otherwise. Nice environment, inside and out. Nice owners. Lobster salad plus bacon was great.
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
Food and service here is clearly top shelf - compared to ANYWHERE, city snobs notwithstanding. But I think I know how they get a fabulous chef working in a tiny little rural spot like this. It's the same reason my daughter and I walked in without a reservation on a packed Friday evening and were promptly seated after a quick check by a most gracious host - good people who seem to really enjoy what they are doing!
google avatar

Mandy G.

Yelp
The food is farm fresh here and cooked to perfection. The entrees are wonderful and interesting. The service is lovel and the inn is just a perfect place to retire after a day on the lake

Yelp
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! My husband got the veggie burger and it's is vegalicious and I got the swordfish and it was AMAZING!! Service awesome, atmosphere cool and drinks were rocking!

Yelp
The best restaurant in the Lakes Region, hands down. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the quality of ingredients and variety of food on the menu is unparalleled to any other restaurant in the area. The company that I work for uses the Inn for post event dinners and to house guests and all have had a great experience. They are perfectly willing to accommodate large parties, but always make sure to reserve ahead even for a table of two as they are typically full on weekends through the summer. The food is amazing and always cooked perfectly (really not exaggerating) and the bar stocks a unique and interesting selection of quality liquors with mixed drinks that the bartender crafts using items from the herb garden behind the restaurant. Visit for lunch or dinner and you will definitely have a great experience!

Sara I.

Yelp
Great place and if you don't have a reservation sit at the bar. It's the same menu and you get to watch Sara make cocktails like an alchemist. I got the potbelly stack and it was superb. It was loaded with fresh mushrooms and greens. The clam chowder was also very very good, creamy and buttery. On my next visit I hope to stay at the Inn so I can get breakfast there too.
google avatar

Jon H.

Yelp
I had dinner there several times this summer. The ambience is pure New England country and the food never disappointed. Everything from the oysters to the prime rib were expertly prepared and served. Great wine list and even better specialty cocktails. The "salty pear" was a gem! Additionally the staff is professional, courteous and cheerful. I think it's the best restaurant in the Lakes Region!
google avatar

Lenny S.

Yelp
Lovely spot just off the beaten path near the lake. Outdoor patio was perfect on a late afternoon in summer. Split the mussels appetizer, very nicely done in a wine sauce and just right to share. Crostinis to sop up the sauce, even replenished the basket when requested. Split a turkey avocado sandwich, fresh ingredients, nice size. Recommend any of the combos. Looked great all around. Split a dark beer that was recommended by the waitress and we were very happy. Lovely interior rooms also should the weather not cooperate. One of the nicest places in the area........we will be back! Visit the gift shop/barn on the property while there.

Yelp
This evening my wife and I dined at the Squam Lake Inn. The menu features fresh local ingredients, wild fresh seafood, and choice meats. I highly recommend the food and comfort of this inn.
google avatar

Tim L.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect stay in this very comfortable and beautiful inn. Located in the north western corner of the Lake Winnipesaukee region, this place is very close to another amazing place to visit known as the "Castle in the Clouds". Very much worth checking out. The inn has a bar/restaurant and had one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. I would stay here again in a heart beat. If you like a slightly rustic look and feel, yet all of the comfort you could ask for, then stay here.

Yelp
We stayed here for three glorious nights during the 4th of July weekend, a very busy time for this inn as there were no vacancies and many local lunch/dinner guests. This bed and breakfast inn uniquely has an on-site restaurant open to the public. Not only can guests partake hassle-free of every meal with them--and, trust me, you'll want to--but it seems that it's become a local favorite as well. The Bed part: rooms were comfortable, impeccably clean, and homey, instantly relaxing. There are no TVs, which is shocking at first, but awesome once you discover the extensive guilty-pleasures library they have. The Breakfast part: let's just say that it takes a lot to get me up early on a vacation day, but this was worth any minute of lost sleep (breakfast is usually served from 8-9am except on Sundays, which has an extended time and guests may order from the main menu). My favorite breakfast was a bread bake with apple cider syrup served with pepper bacon. (Is your mouth watering yet?) Lunches are deceptively simple. I had a roast beef and swiss sandwich that seemed to be what all sandwiches should aspire to be. We only had dinner once here because we wanted to try out other restaurants in the area that had come highly recommended, but they paled in comparison and I wish we had not strayed. Desserts? They are what your mother would make you if she were the best baker in the world. Cindy has made me a carrot cake convert and the molasses spice cookie sandwich with ginger icecream will make YOU melt. Free dessert, tea, coffee, and water are available to guests up until 10pm daily. Yelp
Sadly we did not discover this fine restaurant sooner. What a wonderful experience. First, I was able to make my reservations online in real time via Urban Spoon, how cool is that! Then, upon arrival I was made to feel special, our table took about 10 minutes to prepare (this was noted as a possibility when I made my reservation). Several people checked on us while we waited and had a drink at the bar. The Martini I ordered was outstanding and large! The wine the bartender recommended for my wife was spot on. Service at our table was everything I would expect, the atmosphere was warm and friendly. The restaurant was full yet we could easily talk over dinner. The menu choices were creative and everything we ordered was outstanding and served in a timely manner. You will not be disappointed with this experience, I am sure!

Yelp
We dined here last Sunday. It was soooooo good!! The oysters from three different places where plump, crisp and fresh. The grilled artichoke was the best!! We also had a mushroom dish that was made with exotic mushrooms from a local grower. The wine pour was good. The service was great if you're not in a rush. Well catered to!! We will be back!

Yelp
Not only did I have dinner here, but I also stayed at their B&B. As soon as I arrived to check in, I was warmly welcomed. It's a very comfortable and warm place. The owners obviously take a lot of pride in running a wonderful B&B. The room was super clean with great bath products. The sheets were super soft. I can highly recommend staying here. The restaurant. ... very well run. Plenty of staff. Very professionally managed. Friendly service. The food was excellent. Fresh. Creatively prepared. If I lived in the area I would eat here often. It's only about 40 min. To get to the white Mountains. Highly recommended.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Inn for four nights on our honeymoon trip to NH. We have no words to express how much we enjoyed our stay. The staff was amazing and they went above and beyond to make our stay very special. The staff was welcoming, treating us like family. They booked our boat tour on Squam Lake, recommended sites for us to visit and took care of us to make sure we enjoyed our time in the Lakes Region of NH. The food was out of this world! Breakfast , lunch and dinner were able to be made gluten free for my dietary concerns and were all fabulous. Everythingwas fresh and delicious!! There's no need to eat anywhere else. We stayed in the Eagle Nest room which has a fabulous claw foot bath tub, wonderfully comfortable bed and a very serene and quiet atmosphere. The complimentary shampoo, conditioner and lotion are wonderful and are also sold in the Red Barn. We loved it all! We have a five star hotel in our city that we have stayed at before, and we have to say the Squam Lake Inn surpassed that hotel, by far! The service, food, room, staff and atmosphere deserve more stars than we can award. If you are considering staying at the Inn, please book your stay NOW. You will not be disappointed. I wish there was more we could say to describe how special our time was at the Inn, but we will let you book your stay and experience the Inn for yourself. Enjoy!

Yelp
This is a review for the restaurant portion of the Inn only. Six of us had dinner on an August Friday night. The place was bustling, but the service was impeccable. The ambiance was lakeside casual, and food - from halibut to filet mignon to scallops - was excellent. Desserts were great - lots of unique twists on old favorites. Wine list was short, but impressive given the area. If you are looking for a solid place to dine in this area, Squam Lake Inn is it!

Yelp
The food was excellent and the service was even better. We had the artichoke and soft shell crab appetizers and portobello mushroom entree. It was all perfectly done and put a smile on our faces. The food is fresh, flavorful, and local. Also try the ice cream sandwich dessert.
