"Square René-Viviani is a charming and intimate garden (named for a former Prime Minister of France), offering spectacular views of the nearby Notre Dame Cathedral. The star of the square is the oldest living tree in Paris, a black locust, said to have been planted in 1601 by Jean Robin, who was the herbalist and gardener to Henri III, Henri IV, and Louis XII. There is also a fountain, created by artist Georges Jeanclos, that tells the story of St. Julien but also stands to commemorate the Jewish children killed during the Vichy regime." - Melissa Liebling-Goldberg

The Square René Viviani is a delightful park to sit and rest. The park has several trees for shade as well as the oldest tree in Paris, originally from Louisiana. The view and sound from Notre Dame Cathedral are very nice as are the sculptures and flowers gardens. Lots of seating is available.

Small green square area with oldest black locust tree in Paris. Beautiful views of Notre Dame Cathedral, plenty of shaded benches on the perimeter.

Charming park with a (eventually) great view of Notre Dame. Having visited quite a few parks during my visit to Paris, I was surprised by the calmness of this one: especially, given its proximity to Notre Dame. Great spot to relax and plan your next move around the city. There was additional, well-shaded bench seating beyond the main circle. Clean and well-maintained.

Magical Place. I saw this place and immediately got connected. I was looking for the Notre Dame Paris and the Abbey Bookshop, and by chance found this little park. I was so impressed by the churches around, the way this place is preserved and how great this tree looks. I even took a couple of leaves laying on the floor just to have it as a token. The place is really quiet even though it is around a very concurred area. Take at least 30 minutes to enjoy this place.

We traveled to Paris for the Christmas holiday. The Christmas market at Square René Viviani was lovely, very quaint and charming. We had the opportunity to browse the unique vendors and festive atmosphere together. The vendors had some beautiful handmade crafts and decorations. We enjoyed tasting specialty foods and even bought a few souvenirs. Being surrounded by the beautiful Sainte-Chapelle in the background made our visit extra special. It was a truly special experience, one we'll always treasure.

It was a Monday morning, and I was just walking around with no plan when I ended up in this park. There was a choir singing Christmas carols, a holiday market, the smell of food and drinks, and the cathedral in the background. Grab a coffee next door at Shakespeare and Company, sit on a bench, and just enjoy the morning. Such a special park

Cute park with lots of places to sit and take a break from the hustle and bustle of Paris. Lots of shade.

Such a great little stop on our way back from Norte dame cathedral. Wonderful local foods that made a lasting impression. From dried fruits to specialty hams there is something for everyone. They even had roasted chestnuts!

Yelp
This is a charming little park in a five-star location. Unfortunately, as far as parks go... This is about as small as it gets. It had a strange central sculpture that I felt dismissive about. I didn't bother looking for a plate engraved with any description or credit for it. It just looked kind of ugly... Sorry, that's just how it came across. Other than that, it was very well kept... Located in an extremely valuable spot. Ok... So why did it get three stars? I'd say it probably would be struggling to earn two stars if not for the photo hotspot presented by the arcs of roses in circling the central sculpture. Yeah we were touristy in shooting pictures under those arcs. Yeah the flowers kicked it up a notch from a solid two... Into barely three stars. I should probably take it down a notch back to two but... We can leave it at 3.

Yelp
This postage stamp-size park is great. Flowers all around the circle. Not crowded. A relaxing spot.
