The Sree Chitra Art Gallery is a renowned art museum located in the Museum and Zoo complex in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, established in 1935. It features a vast collection of traditional and contemporary paintings from various schools of art, including a significant collection of works by the acclaimed artist Raja Ravi Varma.
Visitor Information
Location: The gallery is located on the northern grounds of the Napier Museum, within the Museum and Zoo compound on LMS Vellayambalam Road, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram.
Hours:
Tuesday to Sunday: 10:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Wednesday: 1:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. (adjusted opening time)
Closed: Mondays
Ticket sales end at 4:30 p.m.

Adults (above 12 years): ₹ 25
Children (5-12 years): ₹ 10
Family (Father, Mother, Two Children): ₹ 60

Collections
The gallery houses approximately 1,100 paintings and other artifacts. The collections on display include:
Original paintings by Raja Ravi Varma, as well as works by his brother C. Raja Raja Varma and sister Mangalabai Thampuratty.
Works by other prominent artists like Nicholas Roerich, Svetoslav Roerich, Jamini Roy, and Rabindranath Tagore.
Paintings from major Indian art schools, including Mughal, Rajput, Bengal, Rajasthani, and Tanjore styles.
An oriental collection featuring paintings from China, Japan, Tibet, and Bali.
Reproductions of famous Indian murals from sites like Ajanta, Bagh, and Sigiriya.
A new wing dedicated entirely to the works of Raja Ravi Varma was inaugurated in September 2023.
