20 Best Things to Do in St. Augustine, Florida

"A wildlife park offering up-close, educational encounters with alligators and crocodiles, highlighted by the Crocodile Crossing zip line and ropes course that lets visitors soar safely above the animals, plus a rookery where hundreds of wading birds nest each year—making it especially rewarding for birders seeking species like roseate spoonbills and various herons." - Skye Sherman Skye Sherman Skye Sherman is a travel writer based in West Palm Beach, Florida. If you are in St. Augustine and looking for something fun and a little wild, the Alligator Farm is worth checking out. It is not just alligators. They have crocodiles, birds, reptiles, and even some monkeys. The highlight for me was watching the feeding time. Those gators move fast when food is involved. The place is easy to walk through, and there is plenty of shade so you are not roasting in the Florida sun. The boardwalk over the swamp is very cool. You are literally standing over dozens of big gators just relaxing below you. If you like taking pictures, there are a lot of great spots. It is not very large, so you can see everything in a couple of hours, but I liked that. It is the right size for kids without wearing everyone out. The zipline over the gators looked awesome, although we did not try it this time. Overall, it is a mix of wow that is amazing and whoa that is kind of terrifying in the best way. Definitely worth a stop.

Wow — this place completely exceeded our expectations! We’ve visited several wildlife parks and gator exhibits before, so we weren’t sure it would be worth the price… but it absolutely was. Every part of the experience felt well-designed, clean, and immersive. The elevated decking was spotless and made for comfortable, easy viewing throughout the entire park. The gator feeding demonstration was thrilling — educational, exciting, and so cool to watch these incredible animals in action. And let’s talk about Maximo… seeing that massive crocodile up close was worth the ticket alone. What a beast! The only downside? It was hot and humid — but that’s just Florida in August and no fault of the park. There were plenty of shaded areas to help beat the heat. This is a must-do in St. Augustine, whether you’re a local or traveling with kids. Don’t miss it!

We felt welcomed from the moment we got the the window to purchase our tickets. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The layout (map) was easy to navigate and animal exhibits are designed in a way that allows for good photography. This facility has the entire collection of crocodilians from around the world. You can make an entire day of the visit to truly enjoy their beauty. We happened to see the team capture an alligator for a medical check up. Traveling from Arizona and this stop was another well worth investment.

I was so impressed with this place! I was expecting a little zoo with a few alligators, so when we realized the price for entry we thought it was a little much. But it was definitely worth every penny. So many alligators! My daughter had fun feeding some of them. We even got to hold a little baby alligator (Gary)! Such a good opportunity to make family memories.

This place is super cool!! Reasonable prices and you can leave and come back if you have a receipt. They have a bunch of birds everywhere that choose to live there and there are 100s of nests with baby birds along the walkway which was fun to look at. You can feed the gators along the wooden walk path. There are a couple little areas with AC because it was super hot in the sun. They had feeding shows. Super cool spot! Definitely recommend checking it out. They also have dippin dots...I love those.

We had been past this location a couple of times while visiting St. Augustine. We finally had a chance to return and we were not disappointed. This attraction is a genuine Old Florida attraction that has managed to remain relevant and in business. The building was opened in 1937 but the alligator farm goes back to the 1800s. There is plenty to see and learn for all of the family. There is a giant gator replica on a truck out front. This is a replica of an actual gator (Gomek) that used to reside in this attraction until it's passing. Their latest giant gator is called Maximo and he has his own tank with an underwater view available. There are plenty of other critters to see here and there were plenty of native bird species nesting in the trees. One of them nailed me in the "Drop Zone" but it was expected. I was trying to film the gator feeding and lingered in this area for a little bit too long. My bad. All in all my wife and I had a good time there and came away with plenty of pictures and souvenirs to add to our collection.

What a fun cool place to learn about alligators. There are lots of other cool animals and reptiles- bring dollar bills to get quarters to feed the animals- there are two feedings a day, try to see a feeding if you can, super cool- you can get $5 off per person in those tourist coupon books- it’s about $35 a person, but worth it

SUPER interesting place to visit! It was our first encounter with the world of alligators - and WOW! So impressive at all the hard work that goes into supporting the farm …. I couldn’t count, but looks like there are thousands of animals there! GREAT idea for kids and adults! Very educational and so well managed! MUST VISIT! Clean bathrooms, quick bites (hehe) and drinks are available, huge parking lot and awesome gift shop!
