On a day trip out of Brisbane recently, a friend and I came across this cute Germanic-looking hotel and restaurant, a perfect spot for lunch. I can't comment on the accommodation, but the restaurant puts on a good fare, the atmosphere is nice and the gardens full of colour.
Meal sizes are pretty big, but the prices are a bit hefty. I had the Petite Filet Mignon ($28.50) and my friend had the Fish and Chips ($21.50). Both were delicious.
After we'd finished eating and relaxing in the garden, we went off exploring some of the walking paths that lead off from the hotel. One path goes to a waterfall, but it's a bit disappointing. There's barricading around it and it all looks a bit man-made. Best to go in search of other waterfalls on Mt Tamborine, of which there are several.
St Bernards restaurant is a lovely destination for day-trippers from Brisbane, but if I went again, I'd look for something a little cheaper.
