The 6 Best Hotels in New Orleans (Updated 2025)

"I appreciate the recently renovated St. Charles Coach House on historic St. Charles Street in the Lower Garden District; built in 1921, it blends warm contemporary room design with historic touches like exposed brick in the lobby. There’s no on-site breakfast (Avenue Café is less than a block away), but rooms are spacious, bright, and minimalist, each with a desk, comfy chair, Keurig, flatscreen TV, fridge, and thick mattresses. The updated bathrooms have generous counter space, bright tiled floors, complimentary toiletries, and walk-in showers with excellent water pressure, and the streetcar stop right out front makes getting around the city easy—an affordable choice in the leafy Garden District." - Matthew Kepnes

I cannot gush about this hotel enough. I stayed with them 10 times and every single time has been outstanding. The rooms are spotless, the staff friendly and efficient. Always have hot water, removable shower head which I love, nice comfortable beds, outstanding location and I could go on and on. They also have free parking which was very important to me. I will never stay anywhere else when I'm in New Orleans. Enjoy your stay

The staff was very helpful and friendly! Always smiling and very pleasant. When our key didn’t work and got a new, they went with us to be sure we could get in. The beds are soooo comfortable! The rooms are big and very well kept! It is close and convenient to the French Quarter and streetcar directly across the street. We loved our stay and will definitely be back!

Prime location right on St Charles Ave, staff were super friendly (helped us find places to eat, find our way around, call cabs, etc.). The room was surprisingly large, and on good shape + clean. There’s some street noise from people, traffic and the street car but it wasn’t really an issue for us, and definitely worth it for a prime location. We took the St Charles Ave streetcar several times and it was really convenient having a stop right outside the hotel.

We usually stay at the Hilton Riverside in downtown New Orleans, but didn’t want to pay the $50 dollars to park so we took a chance elsewhere. Fortunately, this will be our go to place from now on. Marcia and Geoffrey were wonderful hosts and representatives for Coach House. I enjoyed the cleanliness, the space, the convenience, the assistance, the FREE parking, and the love. The whole stay was so cool and personable. I like this place, I know you will too. Bet!

The rooms were clean very comfortable and the staff were amazing. The location was spot on. Great local stores on walking distance. Trolley steps away from the front door. Parking was free with stay. After hours just a phone call away to park your vehicle. This is a perfect hotel for a weekend getaway. Overall, I had a great experience at St Charles Coach House. Next time in Nola this is where we’ll be staying.

My partner and I stayed here the past weekend, and it was perfect for our trip. The close proximity to the streetcars made going to attractions only a quick 10-15 minutes ride away from wherever you needed to be. Coming back to a clean and nicely decorated room was especially lovely. We will definitely be coming back!

Always a very welcoming experience. Very clean, sanitized, smells amazing, very comfortable mattresses, and furniture. I've been staying at this property for over a year every month or other month!

The location was nice, however, the staff was not friendly, nor welcoming. We felt like the staff couldn't care less whether we were staying there or not. The girl on the night shift on two occasions, was sitting on the couch, on her phone, and did not even look up, or acknowledge us when we returned for the night. We were greeted by a young man on two other nights though. We chose this hotel because it boasted friendly, helpful staff. We found this not to be the case. Standing in the lobby on at least two occasions, our group was looking at the street car map trying to figure out which car to take and where to go to eat. No one offered any assistance with the street car schedule or suggestions on where to go. In text messages sent to me by the hotel, it was stated the helpful staff would assist with plans. No such help was offered to us. We had an issue with parking when we first arrived at the hotel at about 4:00 p.m. There was no parking available. We were told the hotel shares the parking with another business and parking would be available after 10:30 p.m. when the venue's event would be over. Fortunately, a man overheard the conversation, and offered to move his car so we could park. Turns out he worked at No-le. Otherwise, we would have been left without parking until late at night. No resolution was offerd by hotel staff. We left our car parked for the duration of our stay for fear we would not have a parking space upon our return. This was very inconvenient and did not allow us to see parts of the city that required a car. Our room, although spacious, was not clean. There was a used washcloth still hanging on the shower head, along with hairs on the shower floor. The counter top was dirty as well. My husband went to use another wash cloth, but it was dirty and had makeup or some other dirt on it. One bath towel was dirty, and another had long black hairs on it. We were so disappointed in the lack of cleanliness in the bathroom. Additionally, there was very little toilet paper left on the roll thevday we checked in. Not much effort had been made in cleaning our room. As stated on the sign in the bathroom, housekeeping service would be provided after the third night. Our room was never serviced. Throughout the hotel was a very unpleasant deordorizer smell from a deodorizer being sprayed around. After finding the used washcloth in the shower, I replied to one of the hotel's text messages asking how our stay was. I asked who I would speak to regarding our stay being a disappointment and the response was a manager would be in the following day. We never heard from anyone regarding my inquiry. The TV had four spots burned into the screen which made it very difficult to view the screen content. Upon returning to the hotel in the evening, there is a strong smell of urine out front. There was also human feces on the ground in front of the sidewalk planters in front of the hotel. The feces remained there all day, and was still there when we returned later that night. There were at least two homeless people sleeping next to the hotel. This made us feel not very safe. This could be a very nice hotel if the proper people were greeting guests and there was some quality control when it comes to cleaning.
