The 6 Best Hotels in New Orleans (Updated 2025)

"I appreciate the recently renovated St. Charles Coach House on historic St. Charles Street in the Lower Garden District; built in 1921, it blends warm contemporary room design with historic touches like exposed brick in the lobby. There’s no on-site breakfast (Avenue Café is less than a block away), but rooms are spacious, bright, and minimalist, each with a desk, comfy chair, Keurig, flatscreen TV, fridge, and thick mattresses. The updated bathrooms have generous counter space, bright tiled floors, complimentary toiletries, and walk-in showers with excellent water pressure, and the streetcar stop right out front makes getting around the city easy—an affordable choice in the leafy Garden District." - Matthew Kepnes

Google
Just got back from a great stay at The St Charles Coach House. I chose this hotel because of the location and free parking, and I was thoroughly pleased with my stay. I had a spacious, quiet room with a comfortable bed and very clean bathroom. The hotel is in a good location, just across from the St Charles Streetcar and within a 15 minute walk of all the historic sites in the Garden District and some nice shopping and restaurants on Magazine. The best part of my stay was the front desk staff. They were always friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to help! Great team there!

Google
Absolutely loved the experience. Very nice rooms, Lovely patio area with a comfy lounge area along with corn hole and more. The staff were very nice and welcoming, also very helpful. I personally found the location to be very convenient. (Stores, restaurants and not a heavy traffic area) Not to mention the electric streetcar has many stops along St. Charles Ave and one which is located directly in front of St. Charles Coach House. It was my first time visiting New Orleans. And I guarantee you will not regret it!

Google
This was a great little hotel. The room was nice and roomy and clean. The staff was very helpful. The location was great just walked out the door and crossed the street to catch the St. Charles trolley. I will stay here again when in NO.

Google
The staff was friendly, the room was spacious and everything worked properly. We were lucky enough to have room-access to the sundeck, which made the stay even better. Our room had large windows, on the corner, which was incredible. The location was perfect and within walking distance to plenty of food and convenience stores. Being right on the street car line was amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better stay.

Me and my dad stayed here for 2 nights for around $300 (Oct 30-Nov 1) coming from Baton Rouge. It has parking included in this cost which is rare in New Orleans compared to certain hotels on canal street. The location is good since you have your car and you’re only like 1-2 miles from canal street and bourbon street, even if you don’t want to drive your car you can take the trolley right in the front of this hotel to canal or the opposite direction. The rooms were super nice and clean, you have a mini fridge, a desk area, a nice size tv and more. The hotel itself also has some interesting history as it used to be a car factory/car dealership for Mercedes & Packard! The staff were amazing and even gave me a birthday pin where I could put money on. They always greeted us when we saw them and even taught my dad about the history with cars.

Google
The hotel was great & in a safe location. It was right in front of the streetcar stop which makes it very convenient. The hotel is centrally located, just a streetcar ride from all of NOLA. The staff was very kind & helpful. The rooms were roomy & very clean. The only reason I didn't give a 10/10 is because in my 5day/4 night stay, my door key deprogrammed itself 3x and I had to go back downstairs to get a new one. It wasn't that big of an inconvenience for me but it may be for others. I will definitely book this hotel again for my next visit to New Orleans.

Google
Excellent location. New Orleans streetcar pass at front door. Can leave car and ride. Free parking in secure space on property. Rooms are extremely clean and comfortable. Staff are professional and very knowledgeable and friendly Willing to make your stay comfortable. Very helpful Will stay only here whenever visiting city

Google
This boutique hotel is a hidden gem! Right on the St Charles street car line makes it easy to hop on and go grab dinner or just to sight see. The rooms were spacious, clean and with the balcony to sit on and relax just added to the experience. The bed and pillows were heaven as well. Parking was super easy and the staff were so nice and helpful. I can’t say enough about this hotel. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
This was a quick, but nice stay in New Orleans and over a comfortable one. What i liked: The rooms were really nice. I could tell this hotel was a rehab of another hotel or recently had gone through some upkeep but the rooms were decorated so nicely as was the shared outdoor patio. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Free coffee , water and snacks. Not far from the French quarter. I walked it but not sure i would do that at night. The beds were comfortable and i always love when there is good shower pressure. The not as great: There were no real amenities in the hotel other than free snacks. There was no restaurant or grab and go. There is an event space there but only used to paid events. A group of homeless individuals congregated around the building. At night there were screaming matches going on and i could hear it outside my room which was not great. I like the patio but i assume in a place like New Orleans a shared balcony could be quite annoying depending on the guests. Overall I liked the hotel. I would stay here again when I'm back in New Orleans.

Yelp
So I wanted to update my review because it took away one star. The hotel isn't as quiet as I thought because the walls are not made of brick. The parking situation became an issue on our 3rd night here for 2 reasons. First, they overbooked the hotel so the parking spaces were limited. Secondly, an employee took a parking spot I was returning to which should not be allowed any any hotel establishment especially one as small as this one. I also believe it is being used for Valet parking for other hotels but I can't be 100% sure about that. There was one other nice surprise though...the elevator actually has an automatic Air Freshner that releases a wonderful mist aroma during certain times throughout the day. I still highly recommend this establishment, just beware of the parking situation.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I had a great stay at St Charles Coach House. Reasons why we recommend staying here: -Location. It's in the garden district so it was pretty central to all the places we wanted to visit. It had multiple restaurants and shops within walking distance. The trolley is literally across the street which made it easy to get around. Plus it was about a 10-15min Uber drive to the French quarter. -Cleanliness. Our room was clean and very spacious. There were 3 of us girls in the room and we didn't feel cramped. The beds were super comfy and housekeeping kept our room tidy while we explored during the day. -Staff. The staff were great! Very friendly. They allowed us to check in early since our flight came in the morning. They even offered to store our luggage for free if we needed it. Luckily, our room was ready when we got there. The amenities were pretty basic, but this place is perfect for anyone looking for a clean and safe hotel. Would stay here again.

Yelp
Great location and awesome staff! They really care about making your stay a good one. This location is right across the street from the St. Charles Street car and lots of food and drink options. There is a Walgreens close by too! The property has a cool NOLA vibe and the icing on the cake is that they offer free parking with your stay.

Yelp
Overall staying here was a great experience! Friendly, helpful staff, especially the front desk staff! Beautifully appointed room. I honestly just had a wonderful experience at this hotel & would stay there again!

Yelp
We had a late check in and the side doors were locked but thankfully the front desk is always staffed so they let us in. They have a cute event section attached with cool brunches, shows, etc. The staff we dealt with both days was beyond amazing!!! Super friendly and accommodating! Our room was GORGEOUS!!!! We only spent one night here but wished we stayed the whole time! We got late check out at 11 but couldn't check into our next place til 3p. They held our luggage for us so we could explore until then. Loved it!!!

Yelp
My friends and I stayed here for a wedding next door and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very nice, we love the front desk girls, and the housekeeping staff is so lovely. One of nicest draws was free parking and the access to the street car right in front of the hotel. Highly recommend to get a room with a balcony we had room 3 it was perfect. We will definitely stay here again

Yelp
Huge thank you to Andi and Geoffrey for their hospitality during parade season. We were trying to get to the hotel, but the streets were blocked off like crazy. Andi walked a block to meet us and helped guide us to the side entrance of the building where we could enter the garage, park, and check in. Geoffrey gave us a warm welcome and got us accommodated with the property and the need-to-knows during parade season. Very conveniently located, and I love that they have measures in place, like wrist bands and door security, to prevent non-hotel guests from entering the property. Also, huge shoutout to Carlos. He did a great job managing the door and all the guests coming in and out. 10/10

Yelp
We stayed at the St. Charles during our trip in March. I have to say that the staff there was super friendly and welcoming. Everyone there worked with a smile. The hotel was situated in a perfect area for us, the trolly stop was almost across the street and some really nice restaurant walking distance. Our room was very spaceous, clean, modern and comfortable. Thank you for making our stay a 5 Star experiance.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about the St. Charles Coach House. Great location: It is located on St. Charles Street (hence the name), which if you don't know, is where the street car runs. You can walk out the front door and hop on the street car. It is super convenient. To give you some perspective It is probably less than a 10 minute ride to the French Quarter and maybe 15 minutes to Loyola and Tulane. It is also just a couple of blocks from the Garden District. Great Service: Leonce is awesome! He always has a smile on his face, and he is super knowledgeable about the area. You want a restaurant suggestion...ask Leonce. The rest of the staff was just as friendly and helpful. Clean room: The most important aspect of any hotel is the cleanliness. And this place was clean. No complaints. I can't wait for my next visit to New Orleans and the St. Charles Coach House!

Yelp
Very spacious and comfortable rooms. I am staying here post-surgery and it is perfect being literally down the block from the hospital. The staff have mostly been nice, although I have encountered a couple people who seem irritated by even the simplest requests. It's very conveniently located - right next to tons of restaurants, shops and even a Walgreens down the street. I would stay here again!

Yelp
We stayed there at Thanksgiving 2023 before our Cozumel cruise. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful. Nice and quiet at the end of a long hall. We got attentive service everytime we asked a question. The ONLY downfall was not having a restaurant in the hotel. Luckily, this hotel is on a long strip and there are many great food choices. Very comfortable stay! Beds and pillows were super comfy! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Deanna R.

Yelp
Cute spot. Definitely has NOLA swag. Great location. Train car stop right across the street. Staff, especially the front desk staff, is the best I have ever encounter at any hotel I've ever stayed. I would stay here again and I highly recommend.

Yelp
Well, I came back for another visit and was really excited because my last visit with them was fantastic. This time? Not as much. My A/C failed and I notified the front desk that there was water on my floor, they didn't offer me a new room and instead said they would send maintenance up, which they didn't. Fast forward to the next day when I return to my room and find a giant puddle on the floor and the ceiling leaking quite a bit more than earlier. They finally give me a new room and when I go to take a shower, I realize that the soap and mouthwash have been used previously. That's pretty disgusting and changing those out between guests is one of the fundamentals of housekeeping, come on. You guys can do better.

Yelp
Our experience was great! Before our arrival Leonce was really helpful with providing some first hand knowledge of the "must dos" and recommendations on restaurants. The hotel itself was super indie! The wallpaper in the elevator was everything....you just gotta see it for yourself! Upon our arrival Geof was very welcoming and also gave us some great advice for things to do in the area. The room itself was very comfortable and spacious! There are several upgraded elements that give it an extra special touch. There is a lot of natural light, great storage space, and comfy beds! When you get to the lobby there are complimentary snacks and things to have on the go, which is a great touch as well! Bonus part, there are several instagramable spots around the hotel! Honestly, the whole hotel was my aesthetic and we loved it! The location was great and was right on the rail! All we had to do was get a 24 hour pass for $3 and we went anywhere we wanted to go. It runs 24 hours a day and will take you to Bourbon street as well. We enjoyed the free parking and being able to use that money on other things! Overall, a great choice for a hotel! We went for a girls trip and will definitely be back again! Thanks to Leonce and Geof for their hospitality!

Yelp
Let's start with the perks, free parking and it's in the garden district. Comparatively, the rooms here were more affordable than other hotels especially in the French Quarter. The room was clean. The front desk staff isn't very friendly, the elevator has loose tiles that feel like they will break when you step on them. No free breakfast, not even delivered in picnic baskets. The beds were not comfortable and there was only cable tv available, they don't even have smart TVs for streaming services. And the WiFi is crawling slow. Fact of the matter is that the hotel is stripped down to absolute basics and the prices simply don't reflect that. I couldn't even get a room with a view of something other than a huge street light even though I made a request for a special occasion. Overall, the internet made it seem way better than what you actually get.

Yelp
Wow!! Fantastic little gem in New Orleans! Immaculately clean, well appointed and large rooms. Comfortable beds and linens as well. Great staff, super friendly and helpful. Conveniently located on the trolley car route which takes you right to all the sites. Oh AND secure parking! This place has it all. Will be our go to place in NoLa!!
google avatar

Adrinna H.

Yelp
Basic and clean hotel! The location is excellent as the St. Charles streetcar stop is just in front of the hotel and it takes you to French Quarter. Parking is free. Staff friendly. The sheets are comfortable and clean. The comforter soft and warm. Breakfast is included but there's no space for breakfast in common area. So, breakfast is delivered to room in a picnic basket. Cute idea. There's K-cup single serve coffee machine in the room and they offer Community Coffee brand. The only negative, which is really not the hotel's fault, is the noise from fellow hotel guests. Next door guests came back in wee hours and made loud noises. Perhaps thin walls? Overall, a good hotel.

Claudine H.

Yelp
I would like to amend my 11/12/23 posting. Since then, I did receive an email from the hotel manager who did credit me for the room we did not use, as well as additional credit for the inconvenience, loss of time, and hassle for not charging our room to the credit card we gave them at check in, the delay with our credit card balances, and for incorrectly using our card for another guests' room. Once I received this email, we then waited to check our credit card balance and today, the credit did show up, and we are grateful that this is all now resolved, and grateful that the hotel did follow through on making this right.

Yelp
I was staying at St Charles Coach House for a little over a week for a business trip, and I really liked it here! Convenient location, very clean and well taken care of space and wonderful nice people working here! The first thing I noticed when I walked into hotel was a nice smell at the lobby - they had those "fall" scented candles lit and I loved it! The lobby is very stylish, has a lot of cute details and accents, and I truly enjoyed hanging out here in the evenings. Everything in New Orleans is a good idea! Staying at St Charles Coach House is one of them ;)
google avatar

Paige K.

Yelp
In a time of staying to yourself ..the free WiFi in the room sucks...big time. I'd rather pay a fee for it. So I'm in the lobby getting things done. Front desk clerk is very nice, room is a good size and looks pretty clean. Liquor store is 2 doors down.

Sheri S.

Yelp
This place is the best! We felt like we were with family! Leonce had awesome recommendations for restaurants which we took him up on and they were incredible! He made us laugh and smile and happy! As soon as we walked into the hotel, they greeted us by name and made us feel so at home and certainly put a big smile on our faces! I had a package or two delivered to me at the hotel and they called me and let me know my packages had arrived and were waiting for me in the office. Every day they greeted us with a smile and such wonderful Southern hospitality! Thank you to Leonce, Racquel, Carlos, Tamika and Marcia!! Each one of you made this hotel such a wonderful experience. The rooms were nice and large! The location was great! We loved coming in and out of your hotel because we knew we were going to see one of you!! Thank you!

Yelp
Clean room, great service. Everyone at the front desk was courteous and helpful. They have 24hr check in and someone was always at the desk to help. Excellent location too. Steps to the streetcar close to downtown.
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
The hotel is nice and clean. I like that parking is included. Great location and pretty safe area considering we are in the city. The one hostess wasn't nice in the beginning but she seems to warmed up. Prob bad morning. Everyone on staff is nice and friendly. I like the free breakfast and they deliver to your room. They just left the food outside the door. It's just pastries and juice. The coffee was ok. Wish they have some real cream and not powdered milk.

Yelp
Before booking, we were back and forth between this one and the holiday inn. I'm so glad we took the leap and chose this. The pictures are exactly what the hotel looks like. It's very clean, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the location was exactly what we were looking for. There is a trolley stop right out front, a bar/restaurant downstairs, the Trolley Stop restaurant with amazing breakfast next door, and two great bars at the next hotel. I would absolutely stay here again. *tip* we didn't know which room we got when we booked, but I will request the room with the balcony again next time. It's where I spent every morning people watching and enjoying the weather. Wonderful hotel! Just do it!!
google avatar

Yelp
We had a great time at the St Charles Coach House. Great location, friendly service, roomy and clean room. Comfy bed and linens. Nice shower. Nicely decorated. The complimentary bar drink and picnic basket breakfast is a nice touch. Lovely smelling toiletries and cool rain shower. In the room is a small fridge and they provide you with free snacks and bottled water. Plus the room was equipped with a Keurig machine if you didn't feel like going down to the lobby for coffee. There's a nice comfy couch to hang out on. Leonce greeted us warmly and with a big NOLA smile and hospitality. The front lobby had brewed coffee and cookies. Not sure if the cookies are all the time but they were a nice treat. White chocolate macadamia and chocolate chip. The restaurant attached to the hotel looked good and gets good reviews but we didn't have a chance to go. We only stayed two nights but I would stay here again and recommend.

Yelp
Hotel was amazing. The beginning was bumpy with the valet not parking my car but the staff fixed it! Amazing staff at this hotel and the left a gift in the room for my daughters 18th birthday!!! Would stay here again!!!

Yelp
The Saint Charles Coach House is run by Choice Hotels. Upon check in we were greeted kindly by the Valet service a great group of men (Derrick) very professional. We went in to service desk Leon was wonderful very helpful... he was extremely helpful the our entire stay. The room was clean and roomy. Down side they have a Keurig with k-cups with NO recycling so much waste. They do encourage reusing your towels. They should start using more natural k-cups not plastic. The room didn't have a bath tub we found out none of the rooms do. The gym is a few blocks down I chose to work out in the room. The view from our room was great we had a porch facing Saint Charles Street would be perfect for Mardi Gras. First night went to bar down stairs bar was empty I was sitting for 5 minutes while the restaurant manager bar tender and waitress were walking back and forth getting drinks and straightening up finally bar tender said what do you want I asked if they had Jim Beam he said Not Today. I walked out as my husband was coming back in we talked to the Valet guy he gave us directions to the liquor store which was the next building and then a bar called Tip Top next to that. We went to Tip Top asked if they had Jim Beam he said if he doesn't he would send someone to buy some! The second day a the hotel our room was cleaned husband got back early so the cleaning lady didn't finish restocking and leaving menu for breakfast I went down to desk Leon gave me one - I hung on door for morning delivery I woke up at 6 am went to go downstairs for coffee and the menu was still on door I gave to front desk a different lady she said she would take care of it. Check out was easy had to pay for parking.

Peggy V.

Yelp
This place is centrally located. Lots of great eats within walking distance. Cable car runs right out front which all should do at least once. Staff is five star - Leonce in particular. Count on him for great local recommendations. This place checked all the right boxes- clean, comfortable beds, great location and secure, covered parking included. Who could want for more?!

Yelp
Stayed at St. Charles Coach House for 4 days a couple of weeks ago. It's a boutique type hotel, rooms are well furnished and clean, hotel is tastefully decorated, the elevator wall paper is highly amusing. It's in a great location, close to a number of restaurants and bars. The Green Line runs right by there and can take you to The Garden District and Canal St on the edge of The French Quarter. But the greatest strength of the hotel, is the staff. Everyone was wonderful. Kind, friendly, beyond the usual pleasant customer you expect. And, the shining star of that staff is Leonce. He made the stay, that whole hotel, extraordinary. My wife and a friend had stayed there about 2 years before. He remembered them both in detail. He was kind, personable, had many fantastic dinner suggestions. The kind of genuine personality that lights up a room. He makes the hotel. Honestly, my only complaint was that I would have liked a microwave in the room rather than the business center because local portions are large and I often had leftovers that needed heating. Minor, indeed.
google avatar

Beth R.

Yelp
Clean, modern, friendly staff and on the Parade Route on St Charles. Water, coffee and pita chips in the rooms. Chocolate chip and macadamia nut cookies at the front dead. Definitely will be back.
google avatar

Violet M.

Yelp
Upon check in we were greeted by Leonce! Such a nice and fun guy! He was very informative and helpful. The hotel is beautiful! Our room is one of the nicest ones we've stayed in and it was so clean! We were happy to see hand sanitizer everywhere and that everyone was wearing masks. We are definitely coming back and referring family in the future!

Ziyah M.

Yelp
I checked out after a few hours. I went to my room and the room was not up to par. It was dirty. The sheets on the bed had multiple stains. The towels and wash clothes weren't white. The shower was dirty. We called the front desk to get our sheets changed etc. The lady came up handed me sheets etc and said idk if these fit or not but here. Housekeeping should be here soon to change it she was suppose to have them come up they never did and I ended up changing the sheets myself etc. Overall terrible service and I will be contacting customer service because I wasn't even there 8 hours before I checked out and got a new hotel.

Yelp
So chic! Highly recommend. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and you get complimentary breakfast delivered to your room in an adorable picnic basket.

MaryAnn W.

Yelp
After a bumpy start with our check-in, the next morning, the manager, Geoffrey was a big help and got things straightened out. We truly appreciated the time he took to hear our concerns and update the information we needed for our stay. He then gave us a wonderful intro to the neighborhood (they have s really cool map in the lobby) with great recommendations. We had breakfast every morning at The Rabbit Foot, one block over. Wandering around the beautiful, historic homes and using the streetcar to get around was just perfect. The hotel restaurant and bar are closed, but some nice options are just a few doors down. The rooms are spacious, very chic furnishings, super comfy bed and just a great aesthetic overall- bravo to the designer! I am so pleased we stayed in this neighborhood after all, so much gorgeous architecture and none of the huge crowds. If you really want a taste of New Orleans, with room to breathe, this is the place. If you want the frat party then you should probably stay in the heart of the city. Thank you again for making our stay so lovely
google avatar

Yelp
This is a lovely hotel. obviously recently tastefully and comfortably renovated. Spacious rooms. Quiet. Although there is construction happening on site it was clean and welcoming. EXCEPT for the front desk staff. Almost every time we walked through they were on their cell phones and never looked up as we passed through. This was especially the case during the day shift when staff would be sitting on the lobby sofas rather than behind the counter. I have to say that as nice as the hotel is I would have second thoughts about booking here again. Management should be aware that this creates an unwelcoming atmosphere and makes a visitor in an unfamiliar city and neighborhood worry about safety. I wish I could have given a better rating.
google avatar

Yelp
We were a little nervous when we pulled up to check in. This hotel is located on a busy, kinda dirty feeling street. The area didn't appear to be the greatest (then again, we are not from the area, but that was our feeling about things). Once you are INSIDE, it's lovely! They must've recently remodeled and did a fabulous job! There were many nostalgic touches included that hotels used to do but you rarely see now. Mint chocolates left on the pillows for turn down service, fresh baked treats at the front desk, complimentary breakfast + delivery in the morning. We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend this to other guests. I'm sure once the exterior remodel is complete, this will attract even more guests.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Marcia, Tim, Angie, Rubbie, Shawnielle were very courteous, and accommodating. They all were pleasant and nice. I would suggest this hotel to anyone. They did a a great job amid a crisis. Thank you all.

Yelp
The place is nice and located close to everything. The hotel is pretty and comfy yet the staff is a little rude and the locks suck

Carol L.

Yelp
A wonderful stay. Our greeter, Leonce, was very friendly and offered suggestions on places to eat and things to see in the area upon checkin. The lobby appears dated, however the rooms are modern and cheerful inside. The location is across the street from the green streetcar line, making transportation easy to get to other parts of NOLA. They used to have a restaurant in the hotel however it is no longer operable. They do not offer any type of on-the-go morning refreshments like coffee, muffins, yogurt, etc, - other than a bowl of fruit (apples and oranges), which is the only disappointment. They do place a pre-packaged snack of cookies or brownies on a lobby table in the afternoon to grab and go. Loved the on-site parking! Rooms were very clean and modern. Wifi was OK, slow sometimes but useable. Overall, a good stay and location. Beautiful homes are a short walk down the street!!

Yelp
Great location. We used street parking with no problem. Had a room with two queen beds & a small refrigerator. The room was clean, comfortable & quiet. Good price for NOLA. We got the free breakfast only one morning. It was adequate, lagniappe. Staff was nice, especially night desk. Free cookies. Would return

Yelp
Bring your ear plugs! This is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Sleep is impossible without ear plugs! Would not recommend and will not be returning.
