St Christopher's Restaurant - Pension

We stopped here during our ride from Vienna to Budapest. The host was very friendly and helpful on arrival and arranged a taxi for us to go wine tasting in Slovakia. They have plenty of secure bike storage in the garage. The rooms were well sized and good value for money with clean linen and towels. You can see the basilica from the hotel and the host gives plenty of tips for what to see and do in Esztergom. We skipped breakfast so cannot comment on that. Would definitely stay again.

This is a very cosy place with a family environment. We were received by an extremely nice gentleman who checked us in and showed us the rooms. He gave us keys to the back door so we could go in and out at any time we wanted. The rooms were nice and clean although our mattress was very uncomfortable and made my back hurt. The breakfast was simple without much diversity. However, the food was good and when we arrived to the dinning room, the table was already set and the gentleman that had received us the night before was ready to take our orders of eggs. We will definitely come back.

Ok, this place was a total disappointment for us. The photos from our room must have been taken in the last century as what we got was not even close. Look at the photos I uploaded. Lets start with the cleanliness, the place have not had a decent vacuum for weeks if not months. There were cobwebs and spiders to Africa. The beds were cheap and nasty backpacker style beds, I can sleep on carpeted floor but these beds were well past their due date. The sheets did not even cover the entire length of the short bed. Some of the sheets had holes on them. The Aircon had some unidentified stain dried on it. We did not use the aircon but when we left they tried to charge it on us. No utensils in the room or plates. WIFI signal was so weak, almost unusable. Asked if we can safely park our car inside, turns out you pay for that. I selected this place on the web, and my wife was not impressed. Be nice to your wife, you know what to do !

We arrived late in low season. The host was there to great us and out bikes were inside the garage within minutes. We got some excellent suggestions for restaurants in the area. The breakfast was plentiful and very nice. The breakfast was made fresh to order and appeared very quickly in front of us. The rooms are nice and there are some very nice photos on the walls.

We staid here for 2 nights. The rooms are a bit old, but at least they are large. If you want AC you have to pay extra.|There is a pub of some sort downstairs with a beer tap and one evening we wanted to grab a beer but the man in charge told us it was only for guests. Yes, we are guests. A, ok, then you can go buy a beer from the nearby petrol station... nice...

This place has the grumpiest hotelier/owner we have ever encountered, in 40 years of touring the world, blaming everyone except himself for each and everyone of his faults. Announcing to us that he prefers Hungarian guests over international visitors. Not only that, he is also not honest (to put it mildly). He tried shamelessly to overcharge us when it was time to pay. We also had the dubious pleasure of watching him argue with another guest, once again over questionable charge.||The room did not see some good basic maintenance in ages. They charge separately for the air conditioning! And as soon as we paid, he hurried to turn it off, leaving us to pack in the heat and humidity.

Great location very close to the Basilica. Extremely helpful owner. Information available on Esztergom sights. Hotel is clean and tidy with comfortable rooms and secure parking (extra charge). Good breakfast - typical continental with meats, eggs, bread and cheeses.

Spent three nights with family there.||Owner and his family did maximum for our pleasant stay. |Nothing was impossible for them. |Good breakfast. Good location close to Bazilika. Very clean hotel. |We will return again if heading to Esztergom.
