I just recently had a stay here with my boyfriend, and overall the trip was lovely, but I have a few things I’d like to share that we were not happy with.
1. We booked a boat excursion for the two of us, and were told by the hotel to be in the lobby at a certain time (8:15 AM) to be picked up by an arranged taxi service that the hotel organized, that we would be paying for. When we got to the lobby, on time at 8:15 AM, we immediately asked the front desk about the whereabouts of the taxi. They said they would call them and assured us it would be here soon. We ended up waiting an extra 40-45 minutes for the taxi, and because of this we missed the boat which left from a port that we drove all the way to anyways (across the island, 45 minute drive). Our taxi driver then felt so bad about the miscommunication that she called the excursion company and asked them to turn around and dock at another resort to pick us up so that we could make the trip, in which an entire ship of about 60-80 people had to wait for their trip to start because of us two. It was absolutely INSANE and extremely unclear as to why the taxi never picked us up on time, especially since we alerted the resort that we were waiting. We ended up having a great day, but it was stressful and chaotic getting there due to poor communication from the resort. We never ended up saying anything to the staff because there were multiple times they were rude about any complaint we had, and it ended up working out so we made the best of it, however it was all due to the taxi drivers lovely commitment to get us onto the boat! We should’ve been compensated in some way by the resort but we didn’t even communicate the issue because we didn’t want to waste the time.
2. The times for dining were very limited. Every all inclusive resort I’ve stayed at had at least one buffet or bar open during middle of the day hours. We found ourselves scrambling for food before 4:00pm so that we did not have to wait until our reservations (730-8PM) to eat. And on top of it, the buffet would start cleaning up and putting everything away ~45 mins before closing, so even if we made it to that window, we still somehow were short of eating. It was just odd, and have never had the issue of being able to eat at any time on a resort like this.
3. Room service - We requested room service at a normal hour (6PM) and then got a call back asking for us to come retrieve it ourselves from a restaurant all the way up the hill, that would require a golf cart to get to. We were also promised it would be ready in 20 minutes when it took over an hour, and then had to get it ourselves and bring it back to our room. It was the complete opposite of what the definition of room service is, and the staff made us feel crazy for expecting it to be brought to us. Room service did also not include any champagne or wine, which again, in all my all inclusive stays, I was surprised by, especially given the price of our stay. They also do not offer it past 10PM, so at that point, it was always best to go out to eat. We also were told upon arrival we’d get a welcome drink, which we never did.
4. We were charged for using the phone line to order the room service that we didn’t even receive.^ I have NEVER been charged at a resort for using the room’s phone.
5. Everything overall just closed like an hour earlier than advertised, as mentioned earlier with the weird hours for dining. For example, We were told of a martini bar being held in the lobby from 6-730pm for guests to enjoy, and headed down for a martini around 710pm just for the whole thing to be cleaned up and that we “just missed it.” It was weird, and this happened so much, and there was never any extra stretch to make it right with us.
6. We got attitude from the staff for pretty much anything we asked for.
I do want to note, the rooms were SPOTLESS, so I have to mention how fabulous the cleaning staff was. We always had fresh towels and clean sheets, and every speck of dirt or crumb was cleaned up every day. Definitely impressed by the cleanliness.
