Yelp
The way I see it, airports can really be a hit or miss. For some, it could be a smooth operation when your flight is connected on time but for others, it can be an eternity if there are delays or even worse, cancellations. And much of this comes down to the airline, weather conditions, mechanical issues with the airplane, computer glitches, so on and so forth. Which takes me to the city of St. Louis, Missouri as I had the opportunity checking out "St. Louis Lambert International Airport".
Located at the northern part of St. Louis directly above I-70, this is a major transfer point that connects flights to various cities all across America. It is also Since I was here for a 2-hour layover (during the afternoon of Tuesday 9/12/2023), I had plenty of time to look at some of the unique murals and art that St. Louis is known for, observe the various stores, have a bite to eat, use the restroom, and just get a feel of what this place is all about.
This includes quite a bit of stores representing St. Louis; everything from the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team to the St. Louis Blues hockey team and a ton of hats, shirts, hoodies, magnets, postcards, and other collectibles showcasing this city complete with their most prominent landmark, the Gateway Arch. As far as the restaurants go, there are a few places including 'The Blue Note", "1876", "The Pasta House", "Kingside Diner", "Grounded", and many other comfort food eateries as well as a respectable amount of breweries. And of course you have your usual "Starbucks", "Dunkin", and many other options.
Since this was one of the smaller airports that I've been to, it has more of a family-oriented vibe to it. Or is could possibly be that Midwest hospitality because the employees acknowledged me where I needed to go when finding the gate to my connecting flight. Once there, this place had ample seating complete with a ton of charging stations for my wireless devices, fairly quick Wi-Fi speeds, and an abundance of public restrooms. I can't really speak of the baggage claim, car rental area, parking lot, or exterior shuttle since I was here for a layover. But if I do happen to visit St. Louis for leisure activities, it will be mentioned in a future Yelp review.
Other various things I did want to point out is that this is an older airport that looks like it could use a refresh. And older meaning that the flooring, seating areas, and even the restrooms looks as if it was put up back around the late-1990s. With that said and done, I am giving the "St. Louis Lambert International Airport" just an average three-star Yelp review. Not amazing (as it is no-frills) but not awful either.
