Absolutely marvellous stay. The room was clean, serviced every day, had a lovely ensuite with an excellent shower. The view was stunning and we even saw otters swimming in the bay. The breakfast was first class and Andy made sure that the buffet never ran out of anything. Dinner was just as good and the chefs went out of their way to accomodate any requests we had. Sunday lunch was also a highlight. The staff were all exceptional, and made time to answer any questions we had. ||Each morning at breakfast, Esme came over to check that everything was OK and regularly gave advice on our travel plans. The level of service in this hotel was in our opinion (5 adults and 3 Children), outstanding. We will definitely be back.

When you see the st Magnus it doesn’t look too great however I can assure you it’s very comfortable.|The staff are very friendly and super relaxed you will get fed very well.|The breakfast in the morning is buffet style with all the usual choices. The evening meals are really good and will keep you going. |I found the room very comfy with everything you need the WiFi is really good there is usb ports on all the sockets which is really handy.|Be aware the hotel is about 10-15 mins from the town of brae if you need a big shop but I think the local will have everything you need.|I would stay again as it’s a great base for all the walks in the area.

I recently stayed at the St Magnus Bay Hotel for four days as part of a small tour group. We had a wonderful time during our stay. The staff were so hospitable and fun (big shout out to Esme and Cara!). The food was incredible. The views from the rooms and the walks nearby the hotel were stunning. By the end of our four days, it really felt like SMBH was our home away from home. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

From the outside the hotel is rather striking and has good views of the bay. Inside it looks a little tired and I suspect, for the owners, it's a never-ending challenge to keep on top of the maintenance an old building like this requires. It has an interesting history and the room we had was quite memorable in the upper house with a 4-poster bed (albeit a very soft mattress), old furniture and a lot of floor space. The bathroom was average. The food was good both for dinner and breakfast.|It's a great location for exploring the northern half of Shetland's Mainland

A small error with our Sunday Carvery booking was quickly resolved by the team on Sunday and we settled in for another amazing Sunday carvery at the hotel. It never disappoints and we always leave feeling full with lots of lovely meats, vegetables and accompaniments to choose from. The desserts are also delicious and we look forward to every visit we make here.

Stayed here as part of the Shetland Nature wildlife tour last week. The hotel was nice with usual amenities in the room, TV , tea, coffee etc. Food quality and selection was very good, very generous portions. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, special shout out for Esme, who took really great care of us, nothing was too much bother and made for an excellent stay. Added bonus I was in room 16 and could watch out for otters in thd bay with binoculars. First morning there were four!!!

We had a great stay here in 'the loft', a small apartment up the hill from the actual hotel. We enjoyed the walk down and up for breakfast each morning. Very peaceful location and lovely views. Full kitchen to cook meals if you wish. Also washer and drier. Good for people like us traveling for an extended period. The restaurant serves extremely large portions, British home cooking style. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. A down to earth, relaxed place. The only negative comment is regarding the bedroom in the apartment - the ceiling is extremely low, it's a mezzanine floor. You can't stand up in it. And while the bed was fairly comfortable it was a typical small UK queen bed and was made up with an uncomfortable flannel bottom sheet and flannel duvet cover, no top sheet. We understand this is probably normal for British guests, but we find these sorts of beds very small and flannel sheets, horrid - too hot and very scratchy. Otherwise a great experience! Highly recommended.

I had high expectations from reading previous reviews.|The welcome was good , waited a while to be checked in ,but after 20 minutes I had a room key (that didn't work) so complicated fir such a small hotel.|However I eventually got into my room, nicely decorated and quite clean.|The bathroom was questionable , it was quite dirty, half bottles of shampoo and used cloths on the sink, and my worst fear, hairs all over the toilet .|Overall he room was acceptable. |The bar area was nicely refurbished , but the tiling in the seating area was uneven and stubbed my foot a few times .|Good selection of beers on the bar taps , however the refusal of a whisky due to its smell was odd, and the attitude was all wrong .||I'm pleased I stayed for the 2 nights and went elsewhere .
