The St Mawes Hotel (St Mawes, Cornwall) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"St. Mawes is a charming seaside village on the coast of Cornwall, and the hotel of the same name is, as you might expect, a longtime local institution, and has evolved into one of England’s most lovable small boutique hotels. Seven rooms is small indeed, though each one is spacious enough, and decorated in a breezy maritime style that inspires instant relaxation. A bar and restaurant serves hotel guests and locals alike, and there’s a private 25-seat cinema to boot — and sister hotel Idle Rocks, a short walk away, has a bay-facing restaurant of its own." - Tablet Hotels

We booked a village view room which was spacious, beautifully decorated and very clean. The bed was very comfy with crisp linen. A big plus was fresh milk provided in a tiny fridge along with a coffee maker.|The hotel was exceptionally dog friendly providing dog bed, bowls and treats. Dogs are also allowed in the lower deck for all meal services.|Breakfast wasn't outstanding and it seemed at times that extra staff would of offered an improved service.|We would definitely stay again.

We stayed for 3 nights in June. The staff were great throughout our stay . Breakfast was excellent - looking out over the estuary from the 1st floor. We also had dinner two nights out of 3 and it was also very good. Our room was modern , spotless and serviced everyday. There is no car parking at the hotel but the local council car park is a two minute walk away - £7 for each 24 hours . The hotel is also just a one minute walk from the harbour and ferry over to Falmouth. Overall a jolly nice place to stay in Cornwall.

Called in for a beverage on the way back to the holiday accommodation, and it was pleasing to see the place busy. We sat on one of the outside tables and enjoyed beer and cider whilst watching the world go by. Even better, I'd been asked to try a sample of the 🍺, so full marks to the staff. If coming to St Mawes, don't be afraid to stop for refreshments.

We were down here for the week, had coffees and drinks most days, excellent. Staff excellent, we went one night for a meal, service good but found it odd we had to ask for plates for bread and olives. My husband had a pizza which he said was excellent, I decided to have Scallops and some Cornish potatoes. Potatoes were not cooked properly and too much salt on them. The Scallops looked great but yet again lots of salt, really disappointed as due to high blood pressure, I try to avoidlashings of salt. Keep the fish simple and the food would be great

After getting out of the taxi, my daughter, her pug Ruby, and I walked into the bar with our luggage. Milly quickly checked us in, grabbed our luggage and escorted us to our big, beautiful room. From that first friendly impression, we were smitten. Meals in the downstairs cafe/ bar overlooking the sea were delicious. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Milly who stopped to chat and ask us about Ruby every day. We had a marvellous time and can't wait to return.

Had a one night stay. It’s the kind of hotel we really enjoy staying: boutique, friendly, quality but unpretentious. It’s situated right by the harbour where you can get an hourly ferry to Falmouth (20 min journey) or a water taxi to the other side of the river. Our room was small but very clean and well appointed with a coffee making machine and fresh milk in the small fridge ( that’s a big tick for me) and towelling robes. Our room overlooked the harbour and river and the views and atmosphere were really fab. However, given the premium price of the hotel I would have expected the room to have a modern smart TV with access to iPlayer and other streaming services which we could access using our subscription logins. |There is a downstairs bar where you check in. In the first floor is a lovely lounge/ dining area with fab views. We had dinner there but the menu is very limited and on the night we were there the service was very slow. |The breakfast however was really excellent : everything was top quality such as the yogurts, eggs Benedict, bacon rolls and the almond croissant was the best I’ve tasted. |Thank you for our lovely stay.

We spent a night here on our road trip and found it one of our best experiences so far: great service, very cozy room with an outstanding view, excellent drinks and dinner. Parking lot not too far. Highly recommended, would come back again.

Dropped into the St Mawes Hotel after a long coastal walk to quench the thirst. We’re staying in St Mawes up the road and had walked past a couple of times and it didn’t look like anything special but the choice of drinking spots in St Mawes is limited! ||We walked in and were totally taken aback, with its modern interior, smartly dressed attentive staff and laid back atmosphere. It was relatively busy with other walkers so we sat at the bar and had a pint each. It’s also worth mentioned well behaved dogs are allowed!||We spotted the specials board and were tempted by the food so took a table in the window and ordered bread of the table, fish finger sandwich and an extra serving of truffle fries. ||The food was fantastic, we shared the dish and there was still plenty and didn’t manage to eat all of it! The sandwich was a towering burger with plenty of freshly fried fish goujons and tangy tartare sauce! The triple cooked chips that it was served with were delicious too , as were the additional portion of truffle fries but alas our eyes were bigger than our belly’s and we couldn’t eat it all!||So impressed with the whole experience, we have decided to go back for dinner tonight!

Yelp
Wow, hands down one of the best Sunday roasts ever! The decor of the restaurant and bar area is superb! A seaside retreat! The roast was beautifully layed out. Only thing lacking was the service, however appeared to be learning and were friendly.
