Great location, a short 8-10 minute walk into the center of St. Albans. Lots of parking. Didn’t eat here because there were so many other good food options around St Albans. The service was good, the bar staff were great. Due to the hotel’s age there was no elevator so had to carry all bags upstairs. It’s a nice building with Great Lake and gardens. It was cold outside, even snowed however the bedroom was so hot. The cleaners turn the radiators full on and even the air conditioning until was pumping out hot air. The bed and pillows were comfortable if not amazing. The bathroom had been modernized but didn’t have a hand rail for a hand towel. We will come back when we visit St Albans again but will figure out a way to cool the room!!!

We had our wedding St Michael's Manor in October 2025 and it was the most perfect day. The venue as a whole is great and has a unique feel, our guests enjoyed exploring the grounds and taking photos by the lake.||A huge thank you to all of the staff that helped on the day, especially Ussha & Christina in the events team. They were amazing through-out the planning process and made sure everything ran smoothly on the day. ||The Head Chef, Nitin, was awesome too. Very accommodating and enthusiastic in his nature and the food was outstanding! We'll be heading back at some point for sure! ||The Holly room was lovely, very spacious and clean. We enjoyed our stay and the following breakfast.||Can't recommend highly enough.

For our Golden Wedding celebration we booked for a family Sunday lunch plus an overnight stay afterwards. What a great experience! Every member of the team - reception, serving, bar - went out of their way to make our lunch and stay memorable. Indeed some of the younger members of the serving team deserve a special mention! The food offer was generous, well prepared and presented and delicious. The (garden) room was lovely, clean and well presented with a lovely extra 'gift' celebrating our anniversary. Breakfast (as lunch the day before) was well prepared and presented and delicious. Plenty of choice with the hot dishes freshly made. Thank you to everyone.

Very decent hotel in really nice, spacious grounds. Friendly staff, good food and very pleasant public areas. My room was generally fine although some of the furniture could do with a bit of a makeover. Good shower but the separate toilet cubicle was ludicrously small. I’m not the tallest person but had to jam my legs under the hand basin, the soap dispenser was positioned over the toilet roll which meant it was very difficult to wash your hands without water dripping onto the the roll.

We chose the hotel to hold a small afternoon tea for under 30 guests in place of a traditional wedding breakfast after our wedding ceremony in May 2025.||We first chose this as a potential venue as it was conveniently situated (we got married at St Albans register office) we visited and as soon as we looked around and met the amazing Christina, one of the conference and events managers, we knew we made the right choice. She made planning our small reception easy and she was not only professional but so warm and friendly too.||The afternoon tea itself was incredible and we even went for one a few days ago to celebrate our 6 month wedding anniversary! We are so pleased that we have a place we can go for years to come to celebrate our wedding anniversary’s!

The hotel was nice enough but we were put in a room with low ceilings despite my husband being obviously over 6ft tall and couldn’t stand up in the room which wasn’t really acceptable. The room itself had a lot of paint issues and clearly needs redoing. The room was a good size otherwise and the bed was comfy. The breakfast was beautiful!

We only stayed for one night, and honestly, we wished we could have stayed longer. The location is absolutely gorgeous, with expansive grounds, lovely gardens, and a peaceful lake that creates a perfect backdrop for relaxation. We didn’t even get time to explore the historic area. Our room was beautifully appointed and felt so inviting, making it feel like a real retreat. The staff were genuinely friendly and eager to help, which made our stay even more enjoyable. With rooms being on the first floor, the staircase was a hike for my elderly dad who managed, but it was slow. Breakfast was a highlight both continental and ordered—delicious and served quickly. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and hope to come back for a longer stay!

Great food in beautiful surroundings with a lake walk. Had Sunday Lunch in the Conservatory with was amazing overlooking the grounds and lake. Table service was amazing with attentive waiters/waitresses which gave a feeling of having your own waiter. Food was amazing and prices were great. Our waitress Hepy was amazing. A credit to all staff for their kind service

Yelp
Went to this beautiful hotel with 2 girlfriends for Sunday lunch and was pleasantly surprised. A classy, traditional hotel meal with great service. 3 courses for £30 and it was well worth it. Had the roast pork, which was above average, but not amazing. Ordered the chocolate pecan tart for dessert and it was perfection! ORDER IT. You're welcome. Overall a lovely retreat for a girly Sunday lunch accompanied with a wine.

Yelp
I went with a work colleague and our spouses, and we had a wonderful evening. I highly recommend for a meal when you feel like treating yourself.
