Stayed at this hotel last night. Was pleasantly surprised as I couldn’t really tell what to expect looking online. Very clean hotel and feels original - an actual key for the room and not card. Breakfast was clean and enjoyable with lots of option. Very quiet hotel even with a wedding going on downstairs. The back views and grounds are beautiful. Bar area is small but very nice and staff are lovely. The only thing that I can criticise is that sometimes there was a wait (for other guests) on reception (saw this 2-3 times). Would highly recommend this hotel for convenience into town. If you prefer having a gym then keep in mind that 10min walk Club House do great classes and a few local gyms in walking distance so not really missed

This review covers a pre-wedding B&B and dinner stay. We do not offer comment on the event we attended later as guests.|The hotel is in a quiet residential location close to the St Albans attractions and has attractive grounds, including a lake and outdoor seating. There is also ample free parking|Our accessible room “Rowan” on the upper floor of the garden wing had a lovely view of the garden and lake. The room had aircon and a super comfortable king size bed. There was level access to the conservatory dinning room, bar and reception and a wing staircase to the garden and a dedicated parking area.|Breakfast was luxury style with lots of quality choices. Dinner was equally good to a fine standard in the form of 2 or 3 courses from £45pp, with attentive service.|Whilst we fully recommend this hotel, we would prefer a 4.5* rating because this is an expensive hotel that adds an automatic service charge, even at the bar.

We only stayed for one night, and honestly, we wished we could have stayed longer. The location is absolutely gorgeous, with expansive grounds, lovely gardens, and a peaceful lake that creates a perfect backdrop for relaxation. We didn’t even get time to explore the historic area. Our room was beautifully appointed and felt so inviting, making it feel like a real retreat. The staff were genuinely friendly and eager to help, which made our stay even more enjoyable. With rooms being on the first floor, the staircase was a hike for my elderly dad who managed, but it was slow. Breakfast was a highlight both continental and ordered—delicious and served quickly. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and hope to come back for a longer stay!

We had a lovely afternoon Tea here. Our waitress Delona Lobo was lovely and helped everything run smoothly and really made our experience! The food was great and service was prompt. Our favourite was the sandwich selection. We loved the top up of teas as well! Thank you for making our experience positive

My partner and I enjoyed a Saturday night stay at your beautiful hotel on a dinner, B&B package . There was a large wedding at the venue at the same time, the staff still maintained their amazing service level and smiley faces. Food was as tasty as ever and Delona who looked after us for the evening meal was extremely attentive and pleasant. Look forward to seeing you all again soon

Yelp
Went to this beautiful hotel with 2 girlfriends for Sunday lunch and was pleasantly surprised. A classy, traditional hotel meal with great service. 3 courses for £30 and it was well worth it. Had the roast pork, which was above average, but not amazing. Ordered the chocolate pecan tart for dessert and it was perfection! ORDER IT. You're welcome. Overall a lovely retreat for a girly Sunday lunch accompanied with a wine.
