Festive afternoon tea for my birthday. Food was great and scones gorgeous, but the atmosphere was lacking. Only a small number of tables booked this afternoon, and we were all placed in the conservatory (quite a few empty tables). We had to ask about festive mustic to make it feel slightly more festive and only sparse decorations in the room and tables not laid for Xmas at all, so again disappointing.

Always love St Michael’s , been there for many years for a Christmas lunch, food is excellent. Sometimes it gets a little quiet, lacks atmosphere, on the other hand you can always hear the conversations unlike many other smaller, noisier places. The view is lovely and the ambience is gracious and spacious. Our waitress, Delona was charming and attentive. Lots to love.

Great location, a short 8-10 minute walk into the center of St. Albans. Lots of parking. Didn’t eat here because there were so many other good food options around St Albans. The service was good, the bar staff were great. Due to the hotel’s age there was no elevator so had to carry all bags upstairs. It’s a nice building with Great Lake and gardens. It was cold outside, even snowed however the bedroom was so hot. The cleaners turn the radiators full on and even the air conditioning until was pumping out hot air. The bed and pillows were comfortable if not amazing. The bathroom had been modernized but didn’t have a hand rail for a hand towel. We will come back when we visit St Albans again but will figure out a way to cool the room!!!

A truly lovely afternoon tea experience||We had a wonderful afternoon tea here during our stay in London. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing.||A special mention goes to Adam, who looked after us. He was incredibly kind, attentive, and made the experience even more enjoyable with his friendly conversation and professionalism.||We’re a group of five Italian women visiting from Italy, and his service truly made our afternoon memorable.||Highly recommended — we would absolutely come back!

Had the most amazing Christmas work party at St.Michael’s Manor. The events team are absolutely fantastic, making sure that everyone is well looked after from the start to the finish! A very special thank you to Christina and Ussha and to the Head Chef Nitin for the delicious food. Would definitely recommend and hopefully will be back soon! Thank you!

I cancelled Sunday lunch with 7 days notice due to my baby being unwell and they wouldn’t refund the £40 deposit. Zero flexibility, zero compassion, just out to make money. That’s what you get for trying to support a local business with your custom…

Edit: After sending an email to the hotel since the reply of the review. The response given was: Thank you for your feedback. We’re very sorry your stay was affected by the festive events. As the manager has already confirmed, advance notification of the music was sent prior to your stay. Unfortunately, we cannot offer compensation, and we have no control over emails going to spam. We’re glad you enjoyed the hotel and our team, and we appreciate you sharing your experience. We came to the St Michael’s Manor hotel as a little treat before the holidays. At first glance you can see the hotel is outdated, the reception staff were friendly and kind. We had booked the executive room which is one of their best rooms costing us a fortune during the festive time. The room itself was lovely and of high standards. However our 3 day holiday was cut short due to the noise levels. The executive suite is unfortunately situated right above their events area, over the 3 nights they had 3 events in the night. The music was so loud it vibrated the windows and literally felt like thumping under the bed. Having 2 kids who could not sleep until after midnight was just to exhausting for us, also having 1 child on the route to an autism diagnosis this became increasingly hard for her. We did speak to reception who said that apparently we were emailed about this. When we checked our emails that particular mail was in our junk so we were not aware. I felt considering the price of the room and having 2 kids, a kind call about what to expect would have been appreciated. Further, I did not expect the noise levels to be that bad, it totally ruined our stay and I unfortunately won’t be returning nor would I recommend this hotel to any family.

A fantastic evening St Michael’s Manor for our Christmas work event. The food and atmosphere were wonderful. Christina and Ussha, the events team, could not have looked after us better. The organisation was second none and they were very attentive towards the guests. The food was beautiful and the chef, Nitin, came out to introduce himself and check we were happy with the service. I would definitely recommend St Michael’s Manor for a special event and can’t wait to return.

Yelp
Went to this beautiful hotel with 2 girlfriends for Sunday lunch and was pleasantly surprised. A classy, traditional hotel meal with great service. 3 courses for £30 and it was well worth it. Had the roast pork, which was above average, but not amazing. Ordered the chocolate pecan tart for dessert and it was perfection! ORDER IT. You're welcome. Overall a lovely retreat for a girly Sunday lunch accompanied with a wine.

Yelp
I went with a work colleague and our spouses, and we had a wonderful evening. I highly recommend for a meal when you feel like treating yourself.
