Highlights

St. Pete Beach is a Florida resort city set on a barrier island, west of St. Petersburg. It’s known for its beaches. A 1928 landmark, the pink Moorish-style Don CeSar Hotel looms over the shore. The Pass-A-Grille area offers galleries, shops and the Gulf Beaches Historical Museum, which displays postcards and other artifacts in a 1917 church. Nearby, boats depart to Shell Key, a nesting site for seabirds and turtles.

Yelp
I have to agree with Fox E.'s review. St Pete is mostly Caucasian. Real Estate is tippy top in St Pete, it's super clean, high quality touristy, the economy is booming here. Unfortunately the beaches dunes/sand was all washed away in the Hurricane(s). Sand has been brought in, the dunes have been planted again, but it's going to take a while for them to recover. St Pete's beaches are flat, hard sand, very shallow waters, good for walking, excellent for children. Very nice if you like beaches in a posh downtown urban type setting with skyscrapers & city views from all view points. Extremely touristy.

Yelp
Visited St. Pete Beach bc I wanted to hear the DJ at Postcard Inn. Postcard inn is older, but the Dj was awesome. This made the beach day great. It is a trek to the water and the sand is very thick here so hard to walk and to bring a wagon but it's def needed since the walk is far. We got a tip from a friend to park behind 7-11 and that was great and convenient for sure. There's a lit up cross walk so make sure to use that to cross the street. We headed for Postcard Inn To go to PCI bar which was outside in the back, and then went to the beach. Sunset was wonderful and I saw these big tiger fish swimming around. They are striped. Sunday beach day was great!

Yelp
Best kept secret in FLA. Lots of cute bars, white sand and lots of sun Cabanas for rent, paid parking. It's everything that a beach represents

Yelp
depends on what time of the year you go there. I have read- it is home to TripAdvisor's No. 1 Beach in the U.S. in 2021 (Siesta key beach got this award in 2015, 2017 & 2020) but we visited there on 25-Apr-2023 and the water was not at all nice. Seagrass was floating and nobody was in the water... that's why its 3 star for me. otherwise beach was so stunning, with its soft white sand, green water, and laid-back vibe. The beaches are excellent for their soft, white sand, although the sand is different in various parts of the island. There are approximately four miles of white sand beaches, stretching from Upham Beach (north) to the south jetty of Pass-a-Grille Beach (south). When you hear people talk about "St. Pete Beach Access" this is often the beach access they're talking about. This beach access park is located in the middle of the island. It is owned and operated by Pinellas County. The City of St. Pete Beach is different than the City of St. Petersburg! The name of St. Pete Beach is "St. Pete Beach", not "St. Pete's Beach". The City of St. Pete Beach includes all Long Key Island, including Pass-a-Grill to the south and Upham Beach to the north. St. Pete Beach has three general sections: Upham Beach North Quiet and less touristy. Central St. Pete Beach Middle Most busy and most touristy. Pass-a-Grille Beach South Less busy and less touristy. (review separately written) Wherever you are in St. Pete Beach, you're never far from great spots to eat, drink and shop. There are on-site rentals for beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and cabanas. There is a small snack bar/concession stand that also sells beach gear like sunscreen, water toys, and more. Alcohol is not sold or allowed at this beach access point because it's a Pinellas County Beach. Parking: Onsite parking is available. Unlike Sarasota, Bradenton beach- parking is not free here in St Petersburg, it's $3/hour. make sure when you are in the St Pete beach area, you don't do back-in parking. The back number plate should be visible to the sheriff/police. it's the law Restroom: Yes Changing Room: No Shower: Yes

Yelp
While this is a free county beach, the parking is paid (we used the ParkMobile app which ran about 2.75 an hour). We arrived at 10 am and it was no problem to park. The county has contracted with a business to rent chairs, umbrellas and cabanas for $30 a day. Tristan was the person stationed at the entrance to the beach and was very professional and welcoming. He gave us pro tips on the beach (there's a tiki bar right over there by the flag pole and while they don't have food, they have a great selection of beer, wine, and mixed drinks for $3-4) and also mentioned that since it was slow, we could migrate between umbrella and cabana. They also took card, cash, and Contactless payment. He also discounted for multiple days. The beach was clean, powdery white sand and is on the Gulf of Mexico. In December, when we were there, it was super quiet and uncrowded. There are PLENTY of open air beachfront food places within walking distance. We brought our towels, a small cooler and our beach bag and it felt SUPER convenient for less than $50 for a full day at the beach.

Yelp
St Pete Beach is my favorite beach to socialize, listen to live music, watch the fireworks, enjoy waterfront restaurants and bars, and for photo opportunities with the pink castle, the Don Cesar! St Pete Beach has the most waterfront restaurants and bars of any beach in the Tampa Bay area! Waterfront restaurants and bars include Postcard Inn Beach Bar, Jimmy B's Restaurant, Toasted Coconut, Bongos beach bar & grille, Rumfish Grill, Sandbar beach bar, Paradise Grill, Salty's Tiki bar, Skidders, Snappers, McNastys, Basil Thai, Agave Mexican, Flying bridge bar, Harry's beach bar, compass Grille, Rum runners Grille, Spinners rooftop bar, Level 11 rooftop bar, Crabby Bills, Undertow beach bar, & Rowe bar! The fireworks are amazing at St Pete Beach for 4th of July and new years as you watch every hotel launch fireworks! There's so many fireworks to see! Parking can be a bit of a challenge sometimes but I always have a good time when I visit! The sand is smooth and not coarse and the water is clear! I've witnessed many beautiful susnets and many talented bands at this beach! If you're visiting the Tampa Bay area and looking to socialize, listen tk live music, see fireworks, eat or drink with a beautiful view, this is the best beach for it!

Yelp
I'm making my way down the gulf coast to all the beaches one sunrise run at a time. I parked in the north part of St.Pete beach. The parking was plenty and meter didn't start until 8am (arrived at 6am). There were a few vagrants which made me a little uneasy at first (this parking is in the middle of tons of apartments). I was unimpressed by the beach because it was unkept and littered with hotels and beach chairs etc. I started enjoying my run more about 2 miles down when the hotels turned into beach houses and it felt more untouched. In fact right before 22nd street I made a mental note to move my car down to this part of island when I was done. 4 miles each way made for a nice 8 mile run. Then parked closer to 4th street and chilled for a few hours enjoying a very short trek from car to beach and minimal people. The cache of shells at 1st ave was the highlight of my run!

Jessica L.

Yelp
The beach is pretty, but others in the area are better overall. The parking is not free. Costs around $3 for 2 hours. You have to use an app to buy the parking or use the one machine on site. The walk to the beach from the parking is a bit of a hike, especially with chairs, towels, etc. Facilities are back by the parking, so a walk to the bathrooms as well. The water was pretty! But, if you have to travel here you have to pay the toll over the bridge, then another toll on the highway by the beach. Plus pay for the parking?! I'll pass and go to Venice Beach or Anna Maria.

Chris N.

Yelp
Feb 2022 review- this beach is free and beautiful, however, parking can be a challenge. There is a parking meter at a cost of $3.25 per hour. Restrooms are convenient and only a short walk to the beach. The beach is beautiful white sand. The water was cold in February/not many people actually in the water. There is a 3rd party that rents cabanas or lounge chairs, otherwise, bring a beach towel and have a fun time!

Raegan L.

Yelp
Classically beautiful gulf coast Florida beach. Bright white, soft sands, gorgeous blue-green water, you can't find much better than this. I've been here a few times, and came for the sunset the other day and it was just stunning. Only bad things are that it is definitely a more popular, touristy beach so it can get pretty packed, and if you want to rent umbrellas and chairs it's a lot spendier than other places, $45 for the whole day. But other than that it's just wonderful, there's a bunch of restaurants and bars that you can walk up to and hang out right off the sand, super convenient and fun area.

Yelp
We had such a good time at Saint Pete Beach. It was so beautiful the sun the ocean and the waves the dolphins that we saw all the people does everything was great with this beach. I'd say is my favorite one of the three for beach is that we visited while we were in the Florida area this past weekend. He definitely has a great sites you watch the sunset over the ocean which is great we even came out at night time and played the dark and sticker feet in the ocean it was a wonderful experience

Kathy K.

Yelp
St. Pete Beach is a resort city on the west coast of Florida. Set on a barrier island, it is known for its fine sandy beaches and beautiful sunsets. It is often considered one of the best beaches in the world. It is also known for water sports activities such as kiteboarding, windsurfing, parasailing and paddle-boarding. At the boardwalk you will find foot showers. Paid parking is also available.

Yelp
For nine years St. Pete Beach has been the Florida beach of choice for my family in the Spring. Usually the trips are for swim meets that my son participates in. Sometimes I can sneak in a trip in between and that was a recent treat. It's one of the nicest family friendly beaches in the country in my opinion. I typically park at North Shore Park. Plenty of space on non event days and it's FREE! It's directly off the beach and well maintained. So why a 5 stars? Because it has everything you could possibly ask for in a perfect beach. Gorgeous sunrises, clean water and beach, restrooms, volleyball, concerts and of course fishing. If there is a drawback it's lack of lifeguards in all areas. Parents supervise your children at all times. If you have been to St. Pete Beach you understand my excitement. If not I would recommend you plan a visit. Even during the Winter temps are wonderful. I plan on making this a 10th this year.

Yelp
Yes it's not in the running for best beach, Clearwater and Siesta Key battle for that. What it does have is access. Head to either beach (CLWR/Siesta) on a Sat at 10am. Good luck finding parking! St Pete beach has been in the shadow of Clearwater for decades, but what it lacks in popularity it gains in overcrowding. You ever find that perfect spot only to have Jim Bob plop down in a beach chair and start blasting Nickleback? Well that can happen at St pete beach too! With less people though, it's less likely to happen. On my last trip I drove by and stopped to take a walk on the beach. I found a spot right away close to the boardwalk access, parking was like $1.38 for an hour. You can use the parkmobile app like a pro or wait in line at the parking kiosk like a tourist. My spot has a bar close by and plenty of parking, and a lot of sand. One drawback is the erosion control. It used to be these big yellow tubes and someone probably clowned them and the city just used a pile of rocks. It's isn't pretty but walk 100 yards to the south and you won't even notice. The road leading to my spot has a few local bars(I stopped in for a double Beam) and they are filled with all kinds of characters to talk to; If you're so inclined. Do yourself a favor, swing by my spot for Sun, sand, and a break from the chaos that os Clearwater beach. Just don't tell anyone, this is between you and me!

Yelp
Quite possibly my favorite U.S. beach destination! St. Pete Beach has everything I love about getting away. Nice hotels, amazing sunset views, shopping, dining and fun night life. I've stayed at the Rumfish resort, Grand Plaza, Hotel Zamora and recently, the Don Cesar. All have their own, unique feel and nice amenities offered. There are endless views during a nice, long walk on the beach and great places for Happy Hour drinks, like 360° rooftop bar at the Hotel Zamora. I often think of walks on the beach here when I'm having a stressful day. I will definitely visit this beach again soon.

Fox E.

Yelp
For St Pete's sake, when you're on the Gulf Coast you must check out the St Pete beaches. They're nothing short of amazing. Absolutely spectacular beaches in St. Petersburg Florida and some of the best beaches in the whole state. I don't love them as much as I love Sarasota's Siesta Key but I still absolutely love them and most of them are Public Access, and you can't ask for much more than that in the Flo Rida. These are indescribably gorgeous beaches and massive fancy hotels with dolphins on some of them - which I love - and they are almost exclusively caucasian, which is a shame, but you can't have everything. I look forward to the day when the St Pete crowd is more diverse... and the Gulf Coast in general.

Lori E.

Yelp
Best beach in FL. Love the white sand, abundance of shells, and beautiful water. This is my favorite quick getaway spot.

Rachel E.

Yelp
Beautiful beach. The line of crushed shells as you're entering the water is a bit painful but otherwise it was really nice. You can swim out to a sand bar and stand. When I read another review, it mentioned an app. I downloaded what I thought was the app and it only showed parking farther south by another beach. I ended up using google maps to find this beach, pulled in the parking lot, and paid using the machine. 4 hours of parking was $13.

Trell S.

Yelp
Nice and peaceful beach. I came here to avoid the spring break crowd. I will be back!!

Eric E.

Yelp
Our timeshare is located right on St. Pete Beach and this is one of the nicest beaches we've seen in the entire state. Small grained, white sands here spell out heaven for your feet. This is a massive expanse of beach that stretches for miles and can be accessed from hundreds of spots. The beach is easily 100 yards in width as well in most places, giving each and every person visiting a large piece of beach to call their own during a visit. The beach is extremely cleaned and raked daily. Shelling is usually generous, especially in the water. Enjoy!

Michele R.

Yelp
I'm a local and I love coming here! The beach is beautiful, clean, and is located next to three fun dive bars - Toasted Monkey, PCI Bar, and Jimmy B's. If you're 21+ it's a dream come true! Nothing better than a rum runner while soaking up the sun. Always remember if you're bringing alch make sure it's in plastic, no glass. There's only two downfalls - parking and crazy seagulls. Right near Postcard Inn they have public parking in a side lot for $20. A road or two over they have meters as well. Don't forget your quarters - a lot of meters on St. Pete Beach are still old school. I've parked in the lot and on the street. $20 might seem like a lot, but it'll cover you for the entire day. That way, you don't have to worry about your meter - unless you have the parking app (which is also a good option as well). As for the seagulls...keep your food CLOSE! I am not even kidding they will dive bomb and grab your sandwich/chip etc. I've seen it happen to others and it's happen to me too!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
We're so lucky to live here! Dropped by for a morning walk on a Friday. At 8:30 am, it was breezy and warm but not hot... there were a few people but everyone was good about social distancing... it was a great way to start the day. There are so many places to eat nearby and parking was easy (pay at the meter-you can use a card) and plentiful. I can't wait to come back

Jenny M.

Yelp
Great vacation area for families! Not overly crowded with college spring breakers which I appreciated. Will be back!

Julie N.

Yelp
Parking fanatics: if you're like me & hate the stress of parking, this beach has a parking lot! Of course early is best; but if you arrive later on, drive around in circles around the lot until someone leaves. Some patience is awarding, especially for those flying in because for $30 you can get a cabana or umbrella with two chairs for the day. Just find the guys in bright yellow shirts (they will probably find you) and take cash or credit. This beach is great & there's a dollar store & chic-fil-a across the street if you want to buy some food/milkshake before heading in

Sam T.

Yelp
What a beautiful amazing beach! I used to come down to St Pete years ago to visit a cousin but had never gone to this side of St Pete. We enjoyed our 4 day stay at St Pete Beach. There were no crowds, the water is breathtaking and clean. The views are amazing with dolphins swimming close to the shore. I had a nice 3 mile run in the beach one morning. What a gem for the locals!

Diana B.

Yelp
If you have the option between St. Pete and Clearwater, I recommend St. Pete! The beach was a lot less busy which was a major plus. There seemed to be more going on also. We went in a Saturday and there were vendors set up next to the Passa Grille, which was fun to shop through.

Michele D.

Yelp
DO NOT FEED THE SEAGULLS. I made the mistake of sharing a piece of croissant with a hungry little bird and an army of seagulls came swooping in from every direction. Remember that scene in The Birds where Tippi Hedren is sitting outside the school and behind her back all the birds are gathering? Yeah like that. Anytime a bag was opened they inched closer, making quite horrible noises. (Interesting factoid for film buffs. Hitch originally had a different ending planned where at the end they escape and go to SF and the closing shot is they approach the Golden Gate Bridge and see it is covered with birds. The studio panned it though). This beach is lovely with pure white sand and clear water. Great for swimming but no lifeguards at least in Feb. You can rent chairs and umbrellas. Bathrooms are a little dark and may be scary for kids. Treasure Island beach down the road has bathrooms with electric light. Protip: don't move your car because spaces fill quickly. Leave the car and walk or uber out to lunch.

A C.

Yelp
This place advertises itself as "dog friendly." Completely false. There are 20 miles of beach from Clearwater to St. Pete beach and no dogs are allowed on 1 inch of it. The old, cantankerous locals will go so far as to record you and call 911if you attempt to damage their precious ecosystem with your dog's paw prints.

Mark M.

Yelp
A beautiful beach and perfect for lunch ages. Very busy here on a Saturday afternoon so be prepared to wait for a parking spot in the lot across from Chick Fil A. They charge $2.25 an hour and you pay at the machines. You can beach chairs for only $5 a day. Unfortunately you can't position them near the water, only in the back. The beach sand is light colored, fine, and fairly clean. No seaweed spotted at all here. The water was a bit cold, but it is February. Walking into it was easy. Not a lot of shells and it gradually goes down.

Ameesh P.

Yelp
I feel that St. Pete Beach offers a good mix of the various Pinellas County beaches. Clearwater always seems too crowded and has way too many tourists every time you venture there. Ft. Desoto has nice scenery but there aren't many facilities that offer food, drinks, etc. St. Pete on the other hand has a good mix of both. The beach itself is fairly busy, but you can always find a nice spot without it being overly crowded. There are also a varied amount of food options, whether it be private vendors or restaurants. There are also quite a few hotels, resorts, and beach bars scattered across St. Pete beach so you are sure to find something that suits your needs. Parking is also plentiful, whether you visit a business on the beach that has parking or utilize one of its pay lots.

Asia A.

Yelp
Such a lovely beach! I came on a Tuesday night, and it was PERFECT! There weren't loads of people, and the sunset was soooo therapeutic!! Clean, spacious, and overall, a very happy place to be! Only downside for me... there are tons, and tons of shells clumped up everywhere, so bring your shoes to walk over them, before hitting the water!

Tanya T.

Yelp
Love saint Pete beach, always clean nice environment. Lots of parking available. Plenty of awesome restaurants. The water is always beautiful!

Anastasia B.

Yelp
Amazing view! Best beach for vacation in my opinion! The resorts on the beach are also amazing

Ben S.

Yelp
This beach was really nice. The sand was pure white and pretty flat. The beach was clean. There are various hotels along the beach that have bars if you want drinks or food. I liked the lunch food at Smiley's Snack Shack. The hotels rent to non-hotel guests their beach chairs (~$12.50), umbrellas (~$25), canopies and day beds (~$75). All prices were for the day which in November was till sunset at 5:30p. I laid out in the chairs in front of the Beach House Suites by The Don CeSar hotel and was provided towels and side tables by their beach attendant who was very attentive. I would definitely return to this beach spot in the future.

Jenna P.

Yelp
My personal favorite of all of Florida's beaches! Same beautiful sunset, water and sand just with out the crowds and trash on the ground. The sunsets here are picturesque and well worth the visit!

Ru L.

Yelp
Just as I left the heat in Texas it seemed to follow me to St. Pete's Beach. It was so hot... "how hot was it????" It was so hot my fat ass was sweltering and I smelled like bacon! The sand was white, the water was clear but warm and calm and DO NOT FEED THE SEAGULLS. Those vermits will not let up if you feed them once. It is so bad that city council had to pass an ordinance and believe me the locals will remind you. There is a parking fee and umbrellas and portable cabanas are available for a fee. People tend to themselves, and there weren't any obnoxious patrons invading your space. It's a bit of a drive from Orlando but probably one of the better beaches close by.

Linda P.

Yelp
One of the best Florida Gulf Coast area of beaches. Several areas where you can rent umbrellas and lounges, which we always look for. Weekends can get a bit crowded, and the early bird definitely catches the worm (both parking and beach umbrella rentals), but persistence pays off and we were always able to find a parking spot somewhere if we were late getting to the coast.

Craig Y.

Yelp
The beach itself is great. White sand that was daft, cool and appeared clear. Not much happening. Not many or any high end hotels or on-beach bars. But the beach itself was great. 4 stars.

Mike P.

Yelp
Big, clean beautiful beach on the west coast of Florida. The beach is clean, as is the water. If you want to be in a crowd, you can certainly congregate closer to a public egress or a hotel/motel. If you want to have some more privacy, you can certainly find a patch in between to settle yourself. Careful, as they don't station public lifeguards. The gulf is usually calm, but anything can happen along the water, so be careful. Be especially careful in the summer months and be sure to shuffle your feet, as the stingrays come to congregate at that time. They won't bother you so long as you shuffle them along, but they will sting if they feel threatened. The beach itself is free, though there is a price to pay for public parking. It's about $2 or so per hour, payable at centralized meters. There are plenty of spots to grab a meal and treats on or off the beach and along Gulf Blvd as well. There are also plenty of spots to rent paddleboards, parasailing, waverunners, etc, so there's plenty of activity to be had.

Angela S.

Yelp
Beautiful spot for a day at the beach! The only drawback (hence the minus one star) is the limited parking. The parking is metered and you pay (reasonable prices) by the hour. If you don't want to be towed (not ticketed - but actually towed), then I highly recommend waiting for a spot in the small parking lot adjacent to the beach to become available as opposed to parking in any of the nearby businesses. We visited one Saturday afternoon in early August and thought that this was the perfect place for beachgoers of all ages. The beach is so clean and has easy access via a foot bridge from the parking lot. The shore is lined with palm trees just before the sand starts, along with beachfront hotels and condos. But note that there is no lifeguard on duty so you swim at your own risk and there are signs posted reminding visitors that there is no alcohol allowed. The beach wasn't crowded on this day this time of year, but the sun was high in the sky at temperatures were hot. The water was clean and clear and warm from the heat of the day. You will need to bring all of your own gear - beach chair, umbrella, sun screen, towels, etc. as there is no convenient place to grab these things that is very close to the beach. The St. Pete beach is the perfect place to grab a few rays, catch up on a nap, splash in the ocean (waves were mild), and watch the boats go by. You could even plan to grab a bite to eat at one of the many nearby restaurants or bars with beach front access.

Brett N.

Yelp
Why 5 stars? Because it's another beautiful beach on our west coast. --- --- --- I don't have a ton to say about St. Pete Beach, outside of the fact that it's just another reason I am so happy to call the Tampa Bay area my home. I don't get to the beach enough since I live in Tampa, but I couldn't imagine a world where I'm not close enough to make a short drive to be at the coast. I usually go to Clearwater Beach because it's a tad closer to us, but we were in the mood to do something different on this occasion. We arrived just before noon on a Saturday in October, which allowed us to find ample parking in the primary beach lot. This lot uses Park Mobile, which is amazing, and only cost us $7.10 for 3 hours. We left about an hour and a half later and not only were there were no spots left, but cars were circling, waiting for people to leave. I have no idea where alternate parking is, but we did see a beach shuttle van dropping people off. We enjoyed just about all of the luxuries that Clearwater Beach offers, but with less of a touristy crowd. There are definitely more options to eat at Clearwater, but just about all of the food along the beach is of the tourist trap variety, so just having *more* two and three star restaurants isn't much of an advantage. Of course, Clearwater can't be topped in the smooth sand department, but that was about the only drop-off here. We ended up walking more than a mile from the main entrance, down past the Don Cesar. Along the way, we noticed paddleboard rentals and a few of the other typical businesses you see along the beach. We will definitely come back again in the future!

Rana R.

Yelp
They were doing construction on the parking lot so we had to park across the street. Not a lot of people which made social distancing pretty easy. Nice sand, found a couple nice shells. Has potential to be busy during the summer but for us it was very nice. Places to wash feet, normally have to pay for parking, but there were no bathrooms.

Krista R.

Yelp
St Pete's beach is a 30 minute drive from Tampa. It's a quiet, very relaxing beach. It's a laidback, family oriented beach. It's not very exciting, but it's good if you have kids or want to get away from the crowds. After going to Clearwater and Miami Beach it was actually a snooze fest. Lol.. Don't get me wrong. It's a great beach for families if you want mild and tame. If you want excitement, then this isn't the beach for you. Definitely a lovely beach though and clean.

Aubrey F.

Yelp
Beautiful beach with clear warm water and white sand! Lots of shells to look for. The beach was very remote and quiet. The beach area is small but very nice.

Karesha M.

Yelp
This beach is so clean and the people are so friendly. I visited two times in two days and even got my boyfriend to come out and he had a great time I will be returning

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Breath-taking views of white sand and blue waters. Much more relaxing than Clearwater beach and more family oriented. We paid $2.75/hour to park and $30 for the cabana rental, which included 2 chairs. There is also parasailing, jet skis, aqua bikes, banana boats, paddle boards, etc. Actoss the street you can find a Chic-fil-a, Publix, liquor store all walking distance from the beach.

Kris J.

Yelp
Warm water with easy does it waves, good for floating. Nice white sand. Close parking if there early enough. Disappointed with the trash we found, including a sharped-edge remnant of a beer bottle in the sand that could easily do damage to bare feet. Also found a beer can in about 4 feet of water where we were searching for sea shells. We all need to be respectful of our beautiful natural resources.

Brad K.

Yelp
The main access point to this beach for people driving is a county access Park at 4700 Gulf Boulevard. Most other access is available only to people staying at motels along the beach word for people who can walk to the beach. Other major access points on the island are Upham Beach to the north, which has his own separate review on Yelp, and Pass A Grill at the south which is also separately reviewed on Yelp. This review includes the area between the two. St.pete Beach is generally fairly wide although not as wide is the widest point of Treasure Island Beach. There is chair and umbrella rental at the beach access point, and at several motels north and south. It is also possible to rent Kayaks or arrange for parasailing. In season the beach tends to be fairly crowded at the access point. Congestion eases a bit to the north but more so to the south. The sand is not hard packed, which makes it easy to arrange for a comfortable place to sit or lie but makes it a bit difficult to walk on. If walking any distance, be sure to stay near the shore. A bit of a party scene is available as there are several beachfront bars north and south of the access point. Some also have volleyball courts. However it's not strictly a young party animal beach, being an overall good mix of everyone from toddlers to retired folks, and tourists from the motels, nearby residents who walk in, and others from Pinellas who drive to the beach. It is a beach with a lot of strengths and no significant weaknesses except for tourists looking for a beachfront 5-star hotel. Most of the hotels are older although some are reasonably nice. People looking for a room on a nice beach, with emphasis on nice beach can find some cheap obsolete mom-and-pop types however Treasure Island and Madeira Beach have a larger selection of this type of lodging. Overall Saint Pete Beach should be satisfactory for everyone and is a better choice than Upham Beach to the north or Pass A Grille to the south.

Yelp
I love the pure, clean white sand & gorgeous clear blue water. It's the reason we moved down to the beach. Can't beat the sunsets, not even Mexico has more amazing sunsets.
