Yelp
I am here at this hotel right now on a pleasure trip with a sister to this wonderful city.
It is my first stay at this hotel. I'm afraid I must take issue with the scathing review and one star from the lady who took issue with this St Regis not being related to the NYC St Regis.
What a ludicrous basis for a complaint, ie because she was confused! How is that their fault? She is almost implying they are " ripping off" the brand. Yelp I protest, take this foolish posting down!
This hotel originated the name in 1913 - not the other way around! They were the first such named hotel in north America, why in the world would
anyone blame them because of that? Lamest of reasons to give one star.
I have no stake in this place, but my stay here is superb so far. The GM
was so hands on, he actually went up to our room himself to expedite it's
readiness for us. He worked with us to streamline a goofy reservation
through an online Booker (tip , book direct, better rates, less hassle).
The same GM even gave my sister an iPad to use during our stay (I
already had mine along). Normally there will be a charge to use them
during your stay, but he did that due to some of the snafus we hit with
our booking company.
Upgraded us for a nominal fee, and everyone on staff has been so kind
and happy to help.
The location is really convenient. We came by train from Seattle and got
the sky train across the street from the train station, and a quick ride to
Granville station, which is almost next door. Wonderful to not have a car
here.
The room - we are in a queen suite - is modern and tasteful, in neutral
tones, flat screen tv in each room (quality of picture not the best though,
don't seem to have HD here). Nice quality bedding, sheets feel like high
thread count.
I am a stickler for odors with a keen sense of smell. This place is 100% nonsmoking, and is fresh as can be. (how places smell is so important, and distracting to me, I once left a vacation rental in Tuscany that I had prepaid a week for, forfeiting several hundred dollars, all because a German guest in a cottage below us prepared saurkraut and I could not even sleep a wink with that scent in the air.
I am here two days after 'miss confused', and there is nothing like she is describing going on.
Wifi is included, no extra fee, by the way.
The bathroom is nice with lighted swivel mirror, a nice extra. Good pressure in the shower and has a built in bench in the shower too. There is a bit of a gap at the bottom of the door so if you move the shower head around you can get water on the floor.
They give you a discount to an adjacent health club, and have an apparently amazing massage therapist who works in house (he was no available though).
I haven't had their breakfast yet but will report back on it.
The elevators are european style, small and narrow.
I really like the place, and there is everything close by, restaurants, drug stores, great shopping, etc.
