This is a lovely location to explore in beautiful St. Simon's island. There are adjacent shops and restaurants within minutes walk and the lighthouse is also nearby. Watching the sunset from the Pier with Ships passing by provides some great photo opportunities.

Love it here 3rd time being her. Nice weather and very friendly atmosphere. Restaurant all over. The parking sucks and tight. The water 💧 is beautiful 😍

We loved visiting the pier everyday when we were in St. Simons! Relaxing place to look at the water with a beautiful view of the lighthouse. Parking can be a little hard to find.

Google
Best free place to do shipspotting in the area. Fishing's great, too, a big variety of species thanks to being in a river mouth. Pelicans are plenty, and I've spotted dolphins on every one of my dozens of visits.

Google
This has become one of my favorite places to stop while on my way to Florida. The stairs that lead into the water are a wonderful place to sit and hear the waves hit the rocks. You may even see some dolphins!

Google
Great place to visit, the view is outstanding, especially at Sunset. it's surrounded by a variety of quaint little shops, several restaurants, a library, and even a famous Lighthouse plus there is a playground for the kids.

Google
Awesome! So much fun to hang out and watch the fisherman/woman and to enjoy the ocean. Plenty of seating around the pier. Very nice...

Gary R

Google
No charge for a great walk over the water. Fishing spots are available and it is well lit at night with great views.

Yelp
Great views of the water and lighthouse. Pier was clean and in good shape. Lots of fisherman hanging out as to be expected.

Yelp
Visiting the pier was the absolute best part of our trip! We ended each evening with dinner then a walk along all of the shops stopping by the pier, the playground and a visit down one of the staircases to look at the water up close so pretty!! The views are absolutely breathtaking. When we went it was busy but it didn't feel overly busy because there is so much space. People were fishing, walking around, shopping and enjoying the night I really felt like I was in a Hallmark movie lol! The playground was bustling with kids well after dark the playground equipment was well maintained and for all ages. Lots of spots to sit and enjoy the views. All in all it was the perfect place to end each evening!

Yelp
Beautiful and serene. So relaxing. Right by the pier village so plenty of shops, restaurants and bars.

Yelp
It was a lovely experience. We sat on tbe pier for hours enjoying tbe breeze, we at ice cream, watch the sun set and a cargo ship go by.
google avatar

Yelp
Stunning sunset! Cute shopping and a beautiful park for the whole family can enjoy. Lots of benches to sit and rest

Yelp
Love love this island. Quaint and simply feels like home. If you ever have a chance to visit, it is a must.

Yelp
Just a basic fishing pier with very friendly locals. One guy told us the whole story begind the Golden Ray cargo ship that capsized and Dan and is laying on its left side. They are set to remove it in October and that would be really cool to watch! The pier has great views of the water and Lighthouse and nearby bridge. It is very peaceful here.

Yelp
I suspect this place is loved more by locals than a big tourist destination. While it has several typical touristy shops this quaint spot gives off more small town beach vibes than anything else. Beautiful walks next to the ocean, a large pier for fishing or relaxing and a beautiful light house for a picturesque backdrop. Even on a hot evening, the breeze from the ocean keeps you comfortable. The walking path is well cared for with plenty of benches to stop, sit and enjoy the views. There was plenty of parking, places to eat and stores to shop in. The lighthouse is attached to a museum and you are able to wander the grounds and read about the local history. Of note, I didn't notice any beach access in this area if you are looking for that.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice large pier to view lighthouse, fish, relax. It is 1/2 way covered and has a cool breeze. Lots of places to sit

Yelp
This is a nice fishing pier. I got a kick out of the "No Drone Zone" signs. They have fishing measuring areas to prevent illegal catches. They have a fish cleaning station. They also have contact information for injured sea turtles, which I greatly appreciate as a sea turtle lover. You can get a nice view of the lighthouse from the pier as well.
google avatar

Yelp
The Pier is simply breathtaking, with the view of the water and lighthouse you can see in the distance! We visited here to see family on 2/5/18 for the first time and they had some neat little shops near by we checked out, as well as quite a few restaurants! They also have a park nearby for kids to have fun! If your in the area and looking for the perfect tourist spot to visit, I would recommend stopping by this well known place! I know we had a lot of fun!

Yelp
Very pretty place to go to a lot of stores around the pier great great place for kids and adults

Yelp
Love this pier! It's right in Neptune Park. Best views approaching the pier from the SSI Lighthouse. There is a busker or two playing live music at sunset. The guy I saw was excellent. He played rhythm while he did guitar too, didn't miss a beat. Thought it was a band when I approached. Wish I had a video but I was chasing my toddler. And speaking of, this pier is really not safe for young kids. The railing can easily let small kids slip through, and there are gaps at the dock end, where boats are still using it to land, so more danger zones. If you can strap little ones in a stroller, that will allow you to best enjoy the pier! Views of Jekyll and Sidney Lanier Bridge, as well as looking back at SSI, all so cool! And with sunset and music too, oh so amazing!!!
google avatar

Jim L.

Yelp
Very nice pier that has some branches to spread out. Fishing must be allowed from the pier. Many people were fishing and netting from the pier. There is a shark jaw on display that was caught there. Enjoy the photos, I will see you on Yelp. Happy Yelping

Yelp
While I can't speak for the fishing at the pier, the views are fantastic and the proximity to the retail center of St. Simons couldn't be better! Always a busy place the St. Simons Islam Pier is a stopping point for every visit we make make to the area. There is a great view of the lighthouse and the best look at the current salvage operation, where a grounded cargo ship is literally being cut in sections by a massive band saw! Today we saw a huge kite being flown from the pier that the operator had a chest mounted winch to keep it under control. Definitely a nice place to visit when visiting or maybe even trying your luck at catching dinner?

Yelp
Gorgeous views of the lighthouse and the water! We loved the lighthouse tour too and looked at the water. The pier is off a local parking lot, free parking. We enjoyed the beachy shops downtown and went in the morning to get a good parking place. The downtown has cute shops and yummy food. We walked to the visitor center for a map and then to find the tree spirits( wood carvings) artist carved them in trees around town. Very beautiful carvings!

Yelp
For those of you, Gentle Readers, who have thought, "Can't this guy write a short review," take heart, for here 'tis. After a nice shrimp lunch at Iguana's, Peg and I decided to take a stroll to the pier. It wasn't far, just about three blocks past other restaurants and shops, even one offering to rent all you need to go fishing or crabbing. The pier is excellently maintained. It was very clean and, despite some reviews mentioning unpleasant smells, there were none at this time. It was fairly deserted except for a few tourists like us--and the seabirds, of course. The covered section has long rows of benches on either side of the walkway. Sitting there, listening to the water moving against the pylons, will instantly calm frayed nerves and make one right with the world. It's a perfect place to bring a picnic lunch or just a snack. And it must be a popular place to do just that as within a minute of seating ourselves, seagulls started hitting us up for food. And I swear they had indignant looks on their faces when they discovered we had none! The pier is located by Neptune Beach with its adjacent park; so turn the kids loose and give yourself a few minutes of blessed silence.

Yelp
The king and prince resort recommend we come check this place out. I was very impressed with park and pier overall. It's pretty big, open, clean and plenty places to sit and relax. I didn't see much people fishing but more people strolling, chilling on the benches and bike riding in the area. Convenient because it's near shops and restaurants.

Yelp
The St. Simons Island Pier is a nice casual ending to a beach day. Located in the Village, it's a no frills attraction where people watching and shark fisherman take the main stage. There is plenty of parking nearby and it's free and open to the public. So grab an ice cream, and a bench, and watch the stunning Golden Isle sunset from the pier. A delightful way to close a beautiful day.
google avatar

Dave O.

Yelp
If you ever get mad at your boat and want to sell it go here first. This disgusting pier will make you remember why you purchased a boat. It took a few minutes to get the cigarette stench out of my nose. I didn't see anything caught studying the few minutes we were there.
google avatar

Andrea T.

Yelp
We visited St. Simons Pier every day of our trip. The public pier is one of the island's main attractions which makes it good for people watching and other activities: Taking selfies with the St. Simons Lighthouse or photographing the shoreline Watching locals pull up crab traps and reel in fish Watching the sunrise/sunset Listening to musicians play guitar or harmonica for spare change Birdwatching Taking in views of Jekyll Island to the south Wondering about the contents of massive cargo ships in the distance The pier is well maintained with a sturdy boardwalk and rails on all sides. Unlike other piers I've visited, all the boards are nailed down tight so it feels safe as you stroll. The main drag is shaded but the far side is exposed to the sun; both have multiple benches. People enjoy the pier at all hours but I preferred our morning visits when there was less traffic. I wish there was a pier like this in Atlanta!

Yelp
Where else to go on a friday on St. Simons Island and watch the sun go down. Where else could you enjoy not only the beauty but feel the wind as it whips through your hair, and watch the waves come in and trash against the rocks. St. Simons Island Pier is a beautiful place to be romantically with the one you love or going on a date but its also a great place to go for a family outing. I love the smell of the air The breeze through my hair, against my skin and the ripple of my dress blowing in the wind. Would I recommend this Pier? Yes Would I come back to this Pier? Yes I hope this review was helpful and I hope your day is going well SYOY

Yelp
Peaceful is the best way to explain this part of the island. There were tons of people fishing along the pier. There are steps that lead to the beach front under the pier where you can walk and enjoy the water. There were two large parks for kids to play at and plenty of seating. There was also a bbq pit and people were grilling. Plenty of shade. Many stores along the strip to explore and grab souvenirs.

Yelp
I've been to Saint Simons several times and always take a walk on the pier. Usually it is in the off season so it's not so crazy. I would definitely recommend going then. I'm not as much a fan of it on a hot weekend day when there are tons of people and it reeks of raw chicken (from fishermen).

Tammy R.

Yelp
Absolutely love this pier. So many fond memories of my family vacations and seeing my daddy fishing. Now I love to sit and watch others fish and crab. Whether you are looking to fish or take a stroll this pier is the best!
google avatar

Beth E.

Yelp
The Pier is a typical Pier at a seaside village. Plenty of people are fishing, there was an artist, and lots of people milling around. It's nice to be able to walk out and take in the views.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
When I think about Saint Simons I think the Village and I think the pier in the village. The St. Simons Island Pier always brings back great memories of my childhood when my parents would load us up in the car make the trip down to SSI; we would always stay in the Village and walk out on the pier to watch those fishing in the evenings after dinner and again early in the morning to watch the sun rise. I still do the same each year when I visit SSI. I think my wife thinks it's just a pier and that I'm crazy for liking it so much, but it's a lot more than just a pier to me.
google avatar

Lori G.

Yelp
Beautiful view well maintained nice town with lots of shops and restaurants all in walking distance.
google avatar

Neal T.

Yelp
Had a great time fishing & crabbing. Wide concrete pier with plenty of room for social distancing. Wonderful view with public restrooms nearby. Bait & Tackle Shop less than a block from the pier. You're going to love it!
google avatar

Cheryl H.

Yelp
Who can resist the pier when you go to the beach? We always enjoy walking on the pier and soaking in that ocean smell. There are always a lot of fisherman eager to show you their catch and share their stories of the big fish that got away. My favorite is to watch the people with their crab nets. They tie chicken guts to the nets and lower them into the shallow water. Within minutes they have 2-3 blue crabs in their nets. One lady was working 10 nets - what a pro! You can rent the nets at the bait shop next door for $10-15. Definitely a fun activity for kids to catch something.

Yelp
The pier is a popular destination during the summer. During late winter .. not so much. The tide was high (and I'm moving on... Ahem!) and the beach was non existent, however, it made for a lovely walk around the town. I greatly enjoyed being able to walk out over the water and listen to the lapping waves.
google avatar

Lane M.

Yelp
This place is beyond beautiful and relaxing. I visited during the week and was able to walk out on the pier and check some of the local shops out. I will stop back again for sure next time I'm in the area.

Craig R.

Yelp
It was a beautiful fall evening so we drove out to St. Simons Island. St. Simons is part of what is known as the Golden Isles. The area is much quieter and more laid back than other coastal resort islands such as Hilton Head or Amelia Island. We strolled around the small downtown area and made our way to the pier to view the sunset. The view from the pier was fantastic. In addition to many small restaurants and small shops there are bike and walking paths along the waterfront and a lighthouse and museum, though it was closed when we arrived. I would highly recommend a trip to St. Simons to experience the natural beauty and historical sites such as the Lighthouse Museum and Fort Frederica.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
Small but cute pier, pretty relaxing! Not a whole lot of stores, prefect for a quiet get-away! Came here during peaches to beaches, didn't stay long but enjoyed it.
google avatar

Guerry N.

Yelp
This is by far my most favorite spot on the Island. You can always sit down and strike up a great conversation with everybody. I make a visit to The Pier every time I am in the Village which is quite often because that is were my office is located. Great place to people watch.

Olivia H.

Yelp
The pier is at a great location. There are lots of restaurants nearby in the Village. Great place to fish. Neptune Park is right by it. The park includes two playgrounds and lots of seating areas. The pier is a big tourist location. Beautiful!
google avatar

Jeff T.

Yelp
Nice little walk down a functional fishing pier that was rebuilt in 1975. Can't speak to the fishing, but in crab season we are talking two dozen blue crabs in an hour on chicken thighs. Good luck.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Great spot on the island! Take a walk on the Pier and watch the boats go by or watch to see what's being reeled in. Do some shopping on Mallery St and then end with the view at the Pier, kind of perfect. On the 4th of July there was a beautiful fireworks show! It was set to patriotic music and I was very impressed!

Angel H.

Yelp
Nice set up and great views. It's located right at the end of the street of the main shopping district and has a large park with a playground next to it and a paved walkway along the water. The first time we went we saw a group of dolphins and a really huge cargo ship, which the kids enjoyed. This is a great place to catch the sunset on a clear day.
google avatar

Bo D.

Yelp
Not bad! Medium crowded but fairly clean and fun!
google avatar

Patricia F.

Yelp
A fun spot to walk or sit and watch the ocean. Beware of tourist season, you will find no parking.
google avatar

Talk Of S.

Yelp
Wonderful views! My wife and I visited over Valentines weekend and saw a pack of dolphins very close to the shoreline. The lighthouse is a short walk away as well as tons of restaurants and shops. If you're coming in the winter months be prepared it is a little chilly! Put this on your list of places to go while in St. Simons.
google avatar

Ray C.

Yelp
This is a must stop every time I come home. Beautiful view and the new amenities near the pier are a great addition when bringing the kids. See you this summer!!!

Darryl B.

Yelp
Try your luck at fishing...there is a bait store nearby to help you...or watch the ships come in to port. The different species of birds are amazing...check out the Pelicans while they check you out.

Kaitlyn D.

Yelp
This place is gorgeous to walk up and down but it's quite touristy and doesn't give an authentic feel. The shops sold cheap items and there weren't many things to do. I'd say it's worth walking up and down to see the pier and lighthouse but not worth spending any money at
