19 Best Beaches in Hong Kong

"On the south side of Hong Kong Island, Stanley Village draws crowds to its small craft market, open-air cafes, and seafront promenade. But we’d suggest skipping Stanley’s crowded main beach in favor of St. Stephen’s—a pretty little cove that's about a 15-minute walk east of the village." - Kate Springer

Compared to Stanley Main Beach and Stanley Back Beach, this spot is a bit more remote, requiring a 10-15 minute walk from main Stanley Street. However, the scenery is equally beautiful, and because the beach faces west, you can enjoy stunning sunsets. This beach is also popular for various water activities.

enough space for parking, not crowded even on Sunday. Wonderful sunset. There are drinks, beers and a few potato chips in the kiosk. Please be aware of the changing room and shower room are getting old.

A small beach in any standard, it even feels like it's at the corner of Stanley. The public parking is on a dead end street, hence it's very crowded during the bathing season. Having said that, the water is crystal clear in Dec. Just by checking out its water quality, I thought I was in Thailand's pristine beaches for a minute.

Since early Nov 2023, I have been frequenting the Beach a lot as lifeguard service will cease at the end of the month. It has become my favourite beach as it is usually quiet, the distance from shore to floating platform is appropriate for me, and lying on the warm sand or the rocking platform is heaven on Earth to me.

There are several beaches near Stanley Village including St. Stephen's Beach located along Wing Ma Kok Road around a 10 minute walk south of the popular Stanley Market. The beach is considerably shorter than the Main Beach but includes basic facilities including public toilets, changing rooms, BBQ pits, two lifeguard stations and a water sports centre. The sand and swimming conditions at St. Stephen's Beach are good. There are a couple trees on the beach but otherwise very little in the form of shade. Overall, it is nice supplemental beach for those looking for something more intimate and secluded compared to the Main Beach nearer to the main village.

Beautiful sunset at St. Stephens beach. It has much less tourist compare with the main beach. It is very quiet and calm. Mostly western tourist come here.

Great for reading a book and get inspired by the nature at this beach in the Hong Kong Island, near the Stanley Barracks, the military closed area.
