I adore this little shop! If you have ever been to a bazaar in the middle east, you will be reminded of that by the wonderful array of fragrant spices as you walk it. The variety of locally sourced items is wonderful! I am particularly drawn to their moringa soap. The owner is meticulous in her selections, I've lived in key west and I'd say their hot sauce selection rivals Peppers of Key West in variety and cost.
Unfortunately, a review was posted that accused the shop of some sort of discriminatory behaviour. Nothing could be farther from the truth. While it is true a man came in and interrupted everyone to buy four bottles of water, I was in line and saw the distress his questioning of price and other boorish comments were affecting the lovely lady just trying to cash me out. I admonished him and instructed him to apologize to the two lovely ladies standing behind me in line. Unfortunately this was left out of the review.
Also I might add the condescending attitude of the lady who wanted special satchels made was just that, rude and unwarranted. I tried to defuse the situation by inquiring where she was from and learned Louisiana has some of the best tea. I also pointed out products to her that I love in the store.
I don't agree with review left by this latest reviewer, it certainly leaves out other truths from the encounter.
Rude is no race based, rude is just rude,
Waterman was wrong and he was shamed into apologizing to those two lovely ladies, but they too, showed disdain and disrespect.
