We read a lot about this market being dangerous and talked to a number of locals before we (two women) went here. In the end it seemed a bit anticlimactic. We were here on a Monday afternoon , so it may have been a less busy time. It was a nice market with lots of fruit, food and various goods on sale. As we walked by people called "shopping?" to us but that was about all. We bought some fruit without any issues. Glad to have seen it. The interior aisles were pretty narrow. We took precautions by not being "flashy tourists".

What an amazing crazy experience this was! Our senses were overwhelmed like crazy, but in a good way. There were so many great fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as some fresh fish!

you cannot get to enjoy the beauty of shopping, for all the local products at this market place. as it is known as starbrook market or big market. There is too much traffic. too much confusion. vehicle parking everywhere. etc etc. I can give a tip on what to do but that takes a lot of explanation.

Heard it is dangerous and to be careful, so I was quick with my moves in and out. It's a good depiction of hustle and bustle day to day living hard work and barter. You walk right into the market from the city and can interact or see lots of locals working and talking. A good pls e if you want to buy cheap goods too but I we to to observe life as a local market vendor and shopper.

A vibrant and bustling market, especially during the Christmas season. Affordable clothing, and unique local goods.

It's very much hustle and bustle on the end of Georgetown. A great and colorful variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, other produce, meat, clothing and household items. I didn't particularly like the large number of persons as I generally don't do well in crowds but it was a fascinating experience. Couple that with the extreme hustle of the 'Bus' drivers it makes for an intriguing adventure to say the least. P.S. Purple Dragonfruit was selling for 500 GYD about 2.50 USD.

Any and all produce exists and consumed in Guyana you can find here. This is a must visit. Visit with someone who has been here before because it is a very busy market and you can get caught up with the flow of people and vehicle traffic.
