We had a great experience there- the view from the room is amazing, even though we booked bunked beds but we were given a double bed, thank you for that. Best view from the room, it’s not too hard to walk up there, lovely cafe outside and the staff were friendly. It’s be impossible to drag a suitcase up there, taxis cannot reach it either. The bathrooms are very clean. Why only 3 stars? It’s very mean to ask people to pay for towels- are you sane? Make the room cost more but do try to avoid to be seen as not graceful for denying basic needs!

The almost non-existent directions to this hostel created a nightmare scenario. The views look amazing if you aren't booked in the tiny room at the top of a tiny set of stairs on the 2nd floor. The room was stuffed with 3 bunk beds & 1 extra roll away bed!! The service was appalling! This was almost the worst place I have ever attempted to stay at. I didn't stay for obvious reasons! I should have done my due diligence before booking. I ended up losing money and finding another hotel at 5pm and in the dark. Stay at own risk!

If you’re looking for a great, small place by Winkler Terrace, this is your spot! It was so chill and hidden and was a great spot for food and drinks.

A charming little restaurant in the style of a "Heuriger", the typical Austrian inns. Although the spaces are limited and exclusively outdoors, from the garden in front of the restaurant, where you sit to eat, on beautiful sunny days you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city of Salzburg, from the Mönchsberg, in the shadow of the fortress. You can appreciate the typical cuisine and the staff is friendly. You may have to wait a little before being able to sit down.

As a restaurant, sure. As a hotel/hostel, definitely not. The location is very hard to access. Only by walking uphill for 20 minutes, stairs for 10/15minutes, or a 3€ elevator + walk. Once you’re in the location, the view is only rewarding from the outdoor restaurant (which you can go to even if you’re not staying in the hotel- that I recommend). There is no common room and there is no reception. I was literally stuck to my bed because it was raining and the “hotel” had no other space for me to be. The windows have no screen and there is no AC. Windows open = Bugs… tons of them. Shared bathroom for 10 rooms? With glass shower doors? Why?

Incredible views! Bunk beds were super comfortable! The only downside is how far of a walk it is to get anywhere, but budget for a taxi at the beginning and end of your day and you will be fine! Definitely would stay here again.

1.Beautiful view! So many beautiful insects there🐜 2.There is no water dispenser. You can practice “Survival in the wilderness”. Maybe you can find water in the forest, I did not try. 3.it takes 20min walk when you check in. You can exercise like an athlete and role playing like a detector (find the road on google map makes me feel like a detector 🕵🏻‍♂️) 4.Last but not least, there is no staff after 8:00pm. You can be the staff yourself!! Ps: For everybody takes an account of accommodation-I analyze the reason of rate of this hotel above 4 is because this place is also a restaurant. Customer would rate the restaurant, not a hotel. You need to find the comments with regrad to hotel experience. Sincerely🙏

Any possible drawback (though there weren't many) was worth it for the view. Taking the Monchsberg elevator up is about €4.50 per person. The stairs are quite a workout if you choose not to take the elevator; I wouldn't recommend carrying luggage up them although we had no problem taking them any other time, even with our carry-on luggage on the way down. They are fairly well-lit at night and felt safe, although I could see not wanting to take them late at night if by yourself. We received instructions twice prior to arrival and the staff were very accommodating. Not sure what it's like to check in late, although the instructions seemed to have a plan for that if you let them know ahead of time (there are no staff on site at night). Towel available to rent for $3.60. The double room was just big enough for the bed and our luggage. Just expect a hostel experience rather than a hotel! Food at the restaurant was also delicious; we had the spinatknödel and wiener schnitzel.

Yelp
Absolutely the best meal I had in Austria. We were walking at sunset along the Mönchsberg when we came upon the old city ramparts from the 1300s. At the end of the wall is a big terrace overlooking the city. It was filled with happy local Sazburgians enjoying the view and delicious food. I started with a delicious Gruner Veltliner and enjoyed fresh grilled trout with potatoes. Finished our meal with a homemade strawberry cake. Amazingly low prices, nothing over 17 euro. Everything was absolutely perfect. I wish we had enjoyed every meal here instead of discovering it on our last night in Salzburg!
