It’s a nice museum to visit during your free time. If you visit Leipzig, you cannot miss it. It’s for free and offers a good understanding of the background history behind the city we now see. It also happens to be the old city town hall. You’ll find some interesting elements and tons of information in both German and English. The tour lasts 30 to 40 minutes I’d say. The museum is located in the middle of the city center so it’s close to other local attractions, restaurants and even the university. It’s a must!

Our visit was completely free. I found the museum very comprehensive and informative. There were lots of interesting exhibits and plenty of space. The information was displayed in German and English. Such a good museum for fre can't be anything less than five stars. Thanks for the experience!

Highly recommended if you are visiting Leipzig. This museum gives you a great overview of key periods in the city's history, and contains fascinating materials from medieval times to the present day. I particularly enjoyed the final parts of the exhibition with questions about how Leipzig developed in the 90s and who benefitted from this.

Outstanding historic museum describing the life in East Germany between 1945 and the fall of Berlin's wall. Impressive and touching at the same time. The museum is well furnished, with no entrance fee. The descriptions are available in both German and English, a must. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Great museum to visit, lot's of history. Ticket is cheap and audio guide is included. Very friendly staff. Free locker for luggage storage. We spent almost 2.5 hours. Most interesting things were wedding ring of Martin Luther's wife and the original portrait of Bach.

A wonderful museum about post-war east Germany. English translations on most of the plaques, and very informative displays. The current (temporary) Ukrainian Photo exhibition is also very powerful and moving. Best of all, entry and bag storage is free. If you need to kill a few hours, this is a great place to do it. I loved my visit and learned a lot.

This has some great exhibits, be prepared for a long stay. The employee had great English but they could be more polite when I mess up my German speaking.

The only place where I was able to find souvenirs was there.
