Stadthotel Hamburg

Extraordinary service, the receptionist went way and beyond to make sure we had a good stay in Hamburg. The room was elegant but not the sound of the passing trains might disturb your sleep if you’re sensitive to noise. The bed was a bit spartan, but overall a good experience.

I did not expect much from this hotel but was happily surprised through and through ! The welcome was good. The room was clean, nice and modern. The breakfast was good. The location is not especially "romantic" or "cute" but very easily accessible and close to the city center so it does the job. I really enjoyed my stay ! Thanks.

One of the worst hotels I have been to recently. While the room is nice and clean the service and what you get for your money is absolutely not worth it. We paid 240€ for 2 nights which is a joke. Freezing cold in the room and the heating wasn’t working, tv not working , and the hotel is currently a construction site from 8AM you can hear builders working and making noise which makes it impossible to sleep beyond 8-9AM. They should have at least mentioned during the booking that this is a construction site. Never coming back

The rooms are really nice, spacious and cosy. Huge bathroom, nice bed, small sofa. Unfortunately they get very, very warm with the summer sun. So you need to sleep with the windows wide open but if you're on the wrong side, then the train tracks are 70 meters away. While the trains are not so frequent, they are very noisy and for sure you'll get woken up at 6:00 or 6:30. The ventilation system in the bathroom is very loud and gets turned on with the light. There a second switch which is useless, I guess before it could be switched on and off separately. The breakfast is a bit disappointing for 15€. The guy at the reception was really friendly, and this deserves to be mentioned. We had a nice chat and offered us a coffee.

Rooms are OK and clean. Was here in summer and it was unacceptable hot in my room, no AC. Opening the windows wasn't an option because of the noise. Reception lady at check-in seemed overwhelmed with work.

A decent 5 night stay, good distance from main road so safe from noise pollution, coffee sachets were only replenished once the entire time and 1 day cleaners left their bottle in the toilet. Room fan provided was vital with the record temperatures. Very comfy beds.

We stayed here in the middle of July. After a few days of looking for Hotels near the city centre but not wanting to pay a fortune to ensure we had a private bathroom (Trust me, it's near impossible... Feel free to search) I came accross the Stadthotel. I was a bit dubious to begin with as the Hotel is a good 1.5miles from the 'heart' of Hamburg. However..... After realising the nearest S1 station (Berliner Tor) was 5 minutes walk from the Hotel we were delighted with the location.||The Hotel is easily missed but does have signage advertising it. The interior is very nice and appears freshly renovated. The check in was straight forward and friendly. The receptionist explained clearly the facilities (including a boxing ring and gym facilities on the 2nd floor). There is no 24hour manned reception but Hotel is secure via Card entry system and a contact info card given - we did not feel unsafe at any point.||There is a small lift in the guest entrance and old fashioned floating concrete steps should you choose to climb to any of the 4 floors. There is a nice, fresh modern and contemporary look to the corridors and rooms. We stayed on the 3rd floor amd could see down in to the gym and accross the SBahn tracks and area. We got the Sun all day!||The room was very nice and came with a fan which was needed due to the humidity! Little sweets greeted is on our pillows and tea/coffee facilities were provided. There was a fridge and safe and complimentary toiletries. Tv with lots of channels (news, sport etc) for those who like to spend their holiday watching tv....||Overall the Hotel was very good. The only interaction we had with staff was at check in and he was pleasant. We would definitely stay here again. If you do.. Make sure you remember Berliner Tor station is well serviced and dont be put off by the distance. It takes less than 5 minutes on the S1 to central station and services many other parts of the city!

I have stayed here many times over the years and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Hamburg. I preferred it previously as they had smoking rooms. I stopped smoking but will stay there as the staff are great as is the breakfast and it's in a cracking location for night life.
