I grew up in Ramah and I'm a little disappointed to see the low score reviews of the only restaurant in my hometown for miles around.
First of all, if you're from out of town, don't come into the cafe and expect them to treat you like family; The locals here are mostly tolerant of outsiders, but if you want "friendly" service, go to Ancient Way. People in Ramah are very private and distrustful of strangers, and I don't think that's a feeling many people on the outside can understand. Look around the area, for goodness sake, Ramah is in the middle of nowhere! There are around 400 people here, who exactly are they trying to impress?
Secondly, in my opinion, their best dishes are their GIANT stuffed sopapillas, their loaded green/red chile cheese fries, and their breakfast burritos. The pie is pretty damn good, too.
If the curtness of their staff is a little offputting, John and Irene (the owners) know how to cook and their food should make up for it.
I love Stagecoach and I try to eat there at least once every time my wife and I come down
