This may have been, to date, the best wine tasting experience I've had in Napa. For a winery with an immense amount of history and prestige ("1976 Judgment of Paris"), everyone we met was very kind and down to earth. I liken my time visiting to tastings I've had in laid back regions such as Anderson Valley and Santa Ynez. As for the wine itself, 10/10. Everyone's palette is different so speaking as someone who enjoys a Bordeaux as well as cabs from Howell Mountain, Stag's leap is fanstastic.

Google
My first tast of Stags Leap was s splurge puchase after gettomg a job I really wanted back in the late 1970s. I split ot watching the sun go down over Lake Grapevine, sitting on a picnic table. This began my romance with Stags Leap. Now my favorite winery for years, and I have been drinking the fruits of their collective labors every since that night! I was at Stags Leap 30 years ago, and I still have the tasting glass from that visit. The presentation and the grounds have changed quite a bit. Our private guide on the FAY tour was knowledgeable, and the cheif personally delivering light food parings for the tasting, made the time spent memorable. I can only hope to be back in the future. Salute

Google
I originally wanted to tour their caves but I didn't book early enough in advance so I had to settle for the regular tasting which was enjoyable. I can't say the price of the tasting is worth the 4 set wines, but definitely for the service of my host, the extra tastings I received, and the atmosphere. Their winery is beautful and I appreciated the snack that accompanied the tasting. The wines were all recent vintages and I think the Fay and SLV are different, but not dissimilar. I ended up liking the SLV and the complimentary tasting of the Cask 23. I wish they had an aged wine for comparison as part of the tasting. I super appeciate my host spending most of the hour with me and explaining the history to me. He also had other suggestions for me based on my likes. He also shared some Rose with me which was probably the best Rose I've had. The hour of companionship I received was absolutely worth the price tag alone. I did tastings at Stag's and Mayacamas downtown. Similar prices, I prefer the Mayacamas wines on their tasting menu, but Stag's wins everything else (not that their wines weren't good).

Google
We had such a wonderful time at this stunning Winery, Osvaldo was an excellent host during our tasting, he was beyond knowledgeable and passionate about every part of the process from the soil, to the grape to pouring us a glass. 10/10 recommend!

Google
Outstanding winery experience, fascinating history, and expert host. They set the bar high. Exactly what I hope I would experience at $100 tasting, and it was worth every penny. The owner of property in the first half of the 20th century was shrewd and creative, loved to hear about all of her business choices. The wine? Complex, paired expertly with our food. Lots of narration and guidance, and we were allowed to walk around the grounds for a bit afterwards. Highly recommend

Google
This was our first ever visit to a vineyard in Napa. Our first stop was Stag’s Leap. One of seven during several days. But this one stood out the most. Osvaldo V. was our estate ambassador. He was so informative on every single wine he poured. He took his time. Felt very welcomed. The host was also very nice. Greeted us with a glass. Very clean. Ended up buying some wine to be shipped. Can’t wait for that shipment. Highly recommend this vineyard. And if possible request Osvaldo! 🍷👍🏽

Google
Hats off… after watching the Judgment of Paris I had the opportunity to visit this historic winery. It was a breathtaking tour, with phenomenal service. I had to book in advance. Long live Stag's Cabernet Sauvignon as well as Napa County.

Google
Had a great experience at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars! Our host Kelsey was so friendly and informative. She took her time answering all of our questions and telling us about Stag's Leap property and its wine. The views and tasting were incredible as well.

Yelp
Wine here is excellent. We booked the room with 6 of us wine tasting. Reservations are highly recommended for weekends. We did not have one but it was a Monday. Views were excellent. This is a beautiful winery. Our host Stewart was very informative and knew a lot about the wine we were tasting. This has always been our favorite winery. Pricey but worth the money to us.

Yelp
I have been wanting to visit this place. I'll say that the view of the tasting room was absolutely gorgeous. I paid $204.73, full price including taxes, for a tasting for two. It was very informative but honestly didn't feel worth it. I did try one wine that I truly loved but I at the end of the day it just costs too much. Everyone we interacted with was very friendly.

Yelp
The views and feeling you're outside while inside is unique. Unfortunately if you don't have a reservation this is taking a risk. I did not have one and only was able to have a couple glasses of wine poured by staff and walked around property. Not a very large tasting venue.

Yelp
Maurice was a great host. My friends and I all loved the background and education he provided. Also added useful tips for the rest of our time in the valley.

Yelp
This place used to be one of my favorite spots to visit in Napa but sadly I will not be returning. My last two visits were pretty awful (June 2023 and June 2022) and it has become clear to me that they have sold out and commercialized. This visit we did the Cellarius Kitchen Experience with a party of 4. Another couple friend joined last minute and in making us a table of 6, they added an automatic 20% gratuity on top of the already steep Cellarius Kitchen experience ($295pp). What's worse is that we were all seated in the same room as everyone else joining the tasting served by the same server so it's not like he had to do any more than had we sat separately. They overcharged us $360 not accounting for the fact only 4 of the 6 people in our party was doing the full tasting (2 were drinking and only participating in the food which was $150pp). Going to have to reach out to see if they can fix it. As for the wine and food pairing, I didn't love any of the wines this visit or last year. The food pairing came with four courses - halibut, a weird beet/berry "soup," a lobster "cappuccino," and a buckwheat waffle with duck confit. We enjoyed the halibut, the lobster and duck were ok, but the beet/berry "soup" was so weird and off putting that most of us couldn't have more than a few sips. I think the chef may have tried too hard to be innovative. As for the tour, it was somewhat cool to go through the cave and see the breathtaking views outside but overall, I found it went too long. I found the commentary a little boring and our wine guide not particularly knowledgeable (honestly most of our group found him pretty annoying). It was also one guide for a large group of maybe 20 people - for $300pp, I would hope for something a little more intimate and private. Sadly will not be returning and I would not recommend to others.

Yelp
This is one of the finest wineries I visited while in Napa this month. I visited 14 wineries and this was my number 1 favorite for everything from the best wine, the best hosts and the most beautiful layout. I was so busy enjoying wines that I really only snapped a few photos- my fault as the winery is superb! Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is the winery that won the 1976 Judgement of Paris Cabernet Sauvignon Competition and this winery was founded in 1970 and is a Napa so called first growth estate. The Stag's Leap District is established as an American Viticultural area. One of my favorite wines that they produce is Artemis. Try it or any of the wines here and you will be impressed! I recommend this winery over every vineyard I visited.

Yelp
Took the lady here for her first time in Napa and she absolutely had a blast! We made reservations online to do wine tasting and we opted for the tasting without the tour since we already did one and were walking around all day. The vineyard was nice to look at while enjoying our delicious wine. The outdoor area where you get to sit down and have your wine is relatively spacious and is super relaxing. We got to try some of my favorites which were the cab and chard. The lady really loved the reds and we had to take some home. If you buy a certain amount of wines they waive the tasting fee which I think is pretty cool but you will spend a few hundred bucks. Our sommelier was knowledgeable about the products and was schooling us on the rich history of stag leaps. Extra shot out to him for also giving us a nice pour!

Yelp
We were booked for the 10:00 am tour and tasting and unfortunately, we missed our scheduled time. However, the team was very accommodating and still were able to provide us with the tasting experience for which we were extremely grateful for. Justin took care of us for the tasting, and he was wonderful. I genuinely feel like he was happy we were there, which is unmatched service. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The estate tasting was the Arcadia Chardonnay followed by three cabs - the Fay, SLV, and Hillside. After hearing our thoughts on each of the estate wines, Justin poured the Armillary as well for us to try which we both loved. We ended up staying for over 2 hours amongst the beautiful atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
No walk in's . Used to be you could walk in on any winery and the would be accommodating and you didn't have to pay for tasting. Much different today
google avatar

Josh V.

Yelp
My goodness. First of all, Aaron absolutely killed it on service. He was truly great. He wanted to know how we thought and what our tastes were and steered the tasting to make sure he hit our favorites. The views are beautiful. The wine is exceptional!
google avatar

Christina N.

Yelp
Made a reservation for a tasting here through tock and had such a great time. It wasn't super crowded when we were there (Sunday around 1230pm) and the tasting room was spacious but intimate. We really enjoyed the Chardonnay that they started us with on the tasting. We tried the fay, the slv and the cask. We even got an extra pour of heart of the fay which we really loved and ended up getting two bottles of. They comp your tasting ($75) if you spend $200, but we ended up just going for the wine club instead which worked out better in terms of value and gave us a reason to come back and possibly bring friends. We had a great time here and the vineyard is beautiful!

Yelp
This was the most expensive of the tours/tastings that we did (we did the celestial tour experience) but it was by far our favorite of our trip. SLWC had the best overall wine that we tasted, but they specialize in Cabernet Sauvignon. We love cabs but if you want variety then you may want to go elsewhere. If you're planning on going to multiple locations make sure to add SLWC to your list. The food pairings with our wine were amazing and we ended up buying a bottle to take home for an upcoming celebration!

Yelp
This was my favorite spot on our Napa wine adventures. The staff was so nice and the wine was amazing. Let's not forget the views as well. 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
The wine here is pretty good, but a couple of negatives caught my attention.... We drove into Napa on the morning of our tasting. Got here about 30 minutes before our 11am tasting appointment . Being our first time on the property, we checked in and walked into their store area to check things out. A few in our group went to use the restrooms and others were just looking around. An employee subtly ushered us out to a back door and suggested we could wait there instead of looking around? During our wine tasting, there was no food or snacks offered to help cleanse the palate. If they feel their wine is worth the $75 tasting fees, that's fine. But not being able to offer any kind of cracker or cheese platters (even if it's for purchase) sort of hinders the overall experience. The last negative I noticed was that I was charged for more than I expected... on my paper, I marked a quantity of 3 bottles. I made a note for another bottle we tasted, but I didn't put a quantity amount on that line. Turns out the guy gave and charged me for that bottle. Since it wasn't overly expensive compared to some of their other bottles, I let it go since it was a decent wine and someone in our group was a member so I got a discount on my purchase. But what was sneaky was that I got charged gratuity on my order when we already gave the guy a cash tip. So he double-dipped his gratuity on my order! Unfortunately, I wasn't offered to review an itemized list before I signed off. All he gave me was the keypad to sign.

Yelp
If you are looking for stunning views, excellent service and phenomenal wines this is the place!! The caves are stunning, valley views second to none and you are greeted with enthusiasm and smiles. Can not miss!!

Yelp
The 3rd and last stop of our tour and it was definitely the best of the three. The lobby shows the history of this winery. We were seated outside and it had the most beautiful view of the winery. Our server was very informative and very funny. It made the wine tasting experience more memorable. All three of the wine we tasted were very good. This is another one we will definitely visit again.

Yelp
WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! Cellarius Kitchen Experience was an amazing wine and food pairing. This wineries hospitality is line no other. The people are just wonderful and wine is delicious!! Lets talk wine.. Stag's Leap is well known for their cabernets and they all do not disappoint!! My personal favorite is SLV, Cast 23, and Cellarius. The kitchen experience is something that all my foodies would appreciate! The chef is right there to tell the stories of each dish and eating/drinking the food pairings with the chef is just a next level experience. Stag's Leap is great winery to go back to!

Yelp
From the moment we arrived, Maurice was all class. He gave us time and attention, shared great Valley history with us, and, of course, the wine is REALLY good. Beautiful setting. Thank you, Maurice!

Yelp
After many years of enjoying Stag's Leap wine, we finally booked the cave tour when we visiting the Napa area recently. I highly suggest this tour, it's truly incredible to see the caves, learn the history of Stag's Leap and it's founder, learn about the area, and ultimately enjoy some of their best wines! Mark, our wine educator was incredible and very informative. We enjoyed everything he had to tell us, and you can tell he's enthusiastic about wine. He did such a great job, that we ended up joining as members. The grounds and caves are beautiful! The history is rich, especially since this is pretty much the winery that put American wine on the map. Highly recommend stopping in and doing one of the cave tours!

Yelp
My husband and I stopped here on our honeymoon. Justin, our wine guide, was incredible! Super friendly and personable. To top it off, the property was beautiful! We definitely plan on going back.

Yelp
I am in the wine business and go through Napa often on my way to Healdsburg. This time around I visited Stag's Leap Wine Cellars where I had not been in many years and had the best experience. Not only were the wines phenomenal (as they always are) but the experience was top notch as well. Even though they are selling $200+ bottles of wine (don't worry you can find less expensive ones there too - I recommend Artemis which is around $75) it was not stuffy at all. The overall vibe was laid back and they let the wines do the talking. Josian (Jo Jo) was an awesome host. He was fun, knowledgeable and dedicated. Not pushy at all... The Fay Vineyard is always my favorite but of course the Cask 23 is stunning as always. JUDGEMENT OF PARIS continues! Appointments are recommended but not necessary.

Yelp
We just had the most amazing experience here celebrating a friend's big 40th birthday! (Light and day difference from the "experience" we had the day before at Vineyard 29). We reserved the Stag's Leap Cellarius Kitchen Experience ($175/pp). It's a wine with luncheon pairing with Chef Travis Westrope. The experience is a group experience so it's important to arrive on time. We were 10 minutes late so missed the beginning where they do a 15-20 minute walking tour around the winery. Once the tour finished, we all got seated in an intimate dining room. Our host Victor poured the first wine and explained the flavors, notes, and concept behind the wine. Shared how the first course will bring out the flavors or change the taste of the wine. Then he came back around and poured more! So you'll get multiple pours of every wine while you enjoy your courses. They're very accommodating to food allergies/sensitivities too and gave me a gluten-free version of all their meals. I overheard that someone else in our group didn't eat bacon so they gave her a bacon-free course. Both Victor and Chef Travis were warm, engaging, and clearly passionate about their craft. It was such a warm, hospital experience. We learned so much about their wines and could really taste how each course brought out different notes in the wines. Even though each group is seated at their own table, by the end we were all laughing and having a great ol' time with one another. The winery itself is breathtakingly beautiful too, and the tasting room is modern and gorgeous with floor to ceiling windows and a full view of the lush vines outside. Definitely add Stag's Leap to your list of Napa wineries to try because you won't regret it!!!!

Yelp
I want to especially give a special shout out and thank you to wine host Victor who went out of his way to be incredibly kind to me and my Dad. This was not on our list of reservations today and we got lucky and got a walk-in seating. We really didn't want to try any more wine but I really wanted my dad to try some of their famous Artemis Cabernet so we could buy a bottle if he liked it. Not only did Victor accommodate our request but he also had us try a taste of their incredible Cask 23 (at $325 out of our price range...but someday for a rainy day for sure) Thank you Victor for showing us a wonderful experience at Stags Leap Wine Cellars and I look forward to doing a proper tasting in the future. Cheers!

Yelp
3/20/21 Thank you to our friends Emma and Eric for inviting us! In regards to flavor and quality, this was my best wine tasting of red wines, ever. Immensely pleasurable. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong please) that this is The Winery that put America on the world map of wine. Yes, This one. It all began with their 1st place entry in the Judgement of Paris, even being honored with a 2006 Congressional Resolution honoring the significance! Hell, even a bottle of the winning S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon was placed in the Smithsonian in 1996! Also note: they will make sure you know the above. Over and over. And again. But every time the staff tries to tell you just go ahead and say, hey, I already read that on Yelp but thank you very much. Cool. Now let's talk that extraordinary wine!... 1. Estate Collection Tasting Flight $50: Since we were guests, the tasting was free. A step above others, before we sat down the table was already prepped with settings, and all the glasses poured for us! So, we had... 1a. 2017 Arcadia Vineyard Chardonnay $65: The sommelier (does that apply outside restaurants?--I dunno, but for the purposes of this review let's just call our host that) went into detail about the history of this place first, see "Also note" above, then went to even more detail about what went into this chardonnay, and their goal of supporting flavor with oak, but not calling attention to the oak like one would like to not notice salt, but still feel it. I think they've achieved what they aimed to do, but overall it wasn't as exciting as some chards that my gf loves most. 7/10 1b. 2017 FAY Cabernet Sauvignon $150: The tasting notes were spot on, noting, "aromas of ripe berries, figs, plums, candied cherries, strawberry preserves, and a touch of a jasmine perfume,... and cherry pie aftertaste." I will add to that, that this wine was a fruit bomb, event with a very slightly tartness reminiscent of citrus and probably any other fruit your mind might just conjure. I REALLY wanted to buy this but... 10/10 1c. 2017 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon $195: ...but... well we ain't rich so I can't justify spending $350 on 2 bottles, so we got this one instead. Alas, it wasn't my favorite, but you know... the Smithsonian right?--I gotta get one for my cellar and pop it open in a decade or two. Same thing here--the notes were spot on saying, "dark chocolate, graphite, truffle, dried fig and a lovely touch of violet... with a dusty cocoa powder note." This certainly had a darker character than the FAY version, and personally I think even a less complex character. With much less fruit layered in I think this would be a more classically "good" cab, bold and all, but I did enjoy the FAY one better. 9/10 1d. 2017 CASK 23 Cabernet Sauvignon $305: Well, I don't got an AP on my wrist (yet), so I guess I just don't got a rich enough taste yet... but our table unanimously rated this wine the worst on the table. I don't remember how the sommelier justified the $$$ price tag, but I don't think it reflects the lack of complexity in flavor, or the relatively bad, bitter and short finish. Though I'm sure their notes are spot on again ("a rich berry medley with silky layered aromas of dates, cocoa spice, cassis, black olive, and pomegranate") you have to pay far more attention to find the subdued character. Anyway, an easy pass. 5/10 Lastly, which was actually firstly, when we got here we actually stood in the greeting room for at least 15min and not a single person helped us while we stood there. We did see a dozen staff walk through the room, but no one said hi. Anyway, whateverz. 5/5 #napa #napavallery #winery #winetasting #cabernetsauvignon

Yelp
riend and I were looking to share a tasting because we are both lightweights so we were delighted to hear that Stags' Leap allowed us to do that. The tasting room is absolutely stunning with its modern architecture and giant windows, allowing the natural lighting to come in. The wine tasting was about $75, and we felt like it was worth it because we got an extensive history lesson on Napa and the vineyard. Stags' Leap is unique in that it won the Paris of Judgement and the volcanic soil vs non volcanic soil wine. With all of the wineries in Napa, we were happy that we chose Stags' Leap for our wine tasting. The service here is extremely personal and they were more than happy to take our pictures next to the vineyard. I highly recommend a visit if it's your first time in Napa!

Janet L.

Yelp
Customers visit wineries and expect the wine tasting to be more for the experience. You guys definitely need to provide broad vintage. Providing all three 2019 glasses of wine was absolutely disappointing especially when all 3 were not the best I have tasted.  Secondly, the staff who assisted us throughout the session were rude and made racist jokes. We all felt uncomfortable and uneasy. You guys should definitely work on training your staff on keeping it professional. We are there to relax and enjoy, not to hear racist jokes, and hear the staff curse in front of us.  Overall, it was an absolutely disappointing experience, and I won't be recommending to my family and friends.

Yelp
Historically important? Yes for sure. Luxury experience? Not so much. If there is a tourist trap in Napa, it's Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. Yeah the 1976 Paris Judgment is cool, but it's been forever since that, and granted, their wines are still pretty good, but have the premium priced in from that fame. Reviewing the Celestial Tasting -- you start out in the Lobby, which is really loud and cramped. Tours usually have 3-5 parties at once, and combined with the fact that there's a general cafe / bar area right next to the lobby, it's a conundrum of noise, and you can barely hear what's going on in the beginning of the tour. The next stop are the caves, which is way more quiet, but there's not much to see. Also, the tour guide is not very informative. There is some information about the barrel makers, and about the layout of the tunnel, but the wine making process is not described very deeply, and the caves themselves are pretty monotonous...it's just the same set of barrels over and over again. Which, to be fair, is how most wine cellars are going to look like, but the tour could have been made more interesting by visiting perhaps more interesting parts, or seeing the fermentation as well as the barrels etc. Final stop is the tasting room, which is sectioned off from the caves, next to the fermentation area I believe (no intro about fermentation). There is a chef's counter, and you get 4 bites to go along with 4 wines. You get a Chardonnay, and then the FAY, S.L.V, and Cask 23. The wines themselves are good, but the pours are quite stingy. Also unfortunately for my visit, the glasses had residue detergent in the glasses, and all the wines were spoiled. We had to get everything replaced, which props to the staff for organizing, but we felt that the staff could have been more careful about serving the wines, especially wines of such high quality. Overall, if you're gonna shell out $125 a person to go on the Celestial tour for 5 people, it might be more worth it to just buy yourself a bottle of FAY, S.L.V. and Cask 23 for your group, sit on a green patch of grass in a vineyard, and sip on your beautiful wines instead of taking a visit to this estate.

Yelp
Breathtaking experience, exceptional... beyond are expectations. We visited Stag's Leap in September 2020 and booked a tasting which was offered as a picnic style by there pond in the back of the property. Gorgeous!!! The views where incredible and the set up was simple yet elegant and intimate. Each tasting was paired with its own tapa, which included an assortment of cheeses, hams, and nuts with different jams. As with all wines from Stags Leap, sensational. The service was superb, the setting and ambience was relaxing and romantic. It was a perfect way to begin our day.

Yelp
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars was introduced to us several years ago from my BF's friend who got us an Artemis bottle as a house warming gift. We liked it so much that we made sure to go to their winery during our first Napa visit back in 2018. Before even visiting the winery, we ended up signing up for a membership. We knew we would be big fans of their wines and I haven't seen a membership as good as theirs! First visit was awesome, but had a hiccup when we weren't told we couldn't book a tour and an estate tasting the same day. Either way, Danielle contacted me and made sure we were taken care of during our next visit, which they did! The most recent visit was last month during Thanksgiving weekend (11/28/2020). Theee best day of my life! My BF (now fiance) worked with Stag's Leap Wine Cellars (Leilani and Danielle) for months to surprise me with a proposal! The day was perfect and I cannot be thankful enough for what Stag's did that day and the next day. We always make sure to start our first winery here and have our last winery back at Stag's before ending our vacation. Coming back the very next day, every staff congratulated us. We were surprised that they all knew, next thing we know there's a personalized menu! The weekend was just so special! Every visit is always wonderful. Everyone here, from Josiah (Jojo), Steve, Danielle, Ed and every staff we bump into are just so down to earth, chill, personable and make our visit fun every single time. My personal favorites still are 2010 Cask 23, 2013 Chase creek (Yea, ended up leaving with two bottles before) and 2014 Chase Creek. Sometimes I like the SLV and sometimes I like the Fay more. Overall, we love their cabs! :) Definitely recommend Stag's Leap Wine Cellars (Don't confuse them with Stags' Leap Winery - they are completely two different wineries!!) Also, check out their membership, definitely worth looking into! Ahh! Can't wait to go back! Definitely has a different feeling going to Stag's now. Not only is it our favorite winery in Napa, but it now has a special meaning to me and my fiance...

Yelp
Great winery to visit. The tour of the cave was really cool. It is amazing how much these guides know about the wine. They know everything down to the last detail. It is absolutely beautiful scenery and the wines are fantastic.

Yelp
$75.00 for a tasting?!? Are you kidding me?!? Did I miss the memo? I know it's been some time since I've been up here for some tastings. Back in the day it was a free-for-all. Any vineyard you want it was free to sample their wines. Pay for a tasting and then spend more to buy a bottle? Yeah.... I don't think so.

Yelp
Amazing experience. My wife and I came up from SF to celebrate her birthday. Stag's Leap was the 1st place on our list and our first time trying. It's been forrrrrrrever since we came to Napa Valley, certainly way before the shut-down. Beautiful tasting room with tons of information about the history, including a bottle that won the Judgement of Paris on display. Upon checking in, you're given your glasses of Sauv Blanc and then your education host takes over. Justin was our host for our time slot and he was FANTASTIC! [Justin, I hope management is reading this *cough cough*] Justin provided a thorough knowledge-base of the property and its history. Since this was mid-week and maybe because a little slow post-holidays, we were able to squeeze in a brief walk of the caves and a great discussion on all things barrels. Bundle up, the caves are amazing but much colder. Once we were back, we sat for our "Estate" Tasting. We tried an array of wines from the Estate Menu. Justin being the master wine bard, provided all the info we needed and was able to answer all of our questions. This is not a stuffy tasting, we had a blast and Justin is a fantastic host. The views of the property while tasting are great. This is must-stop for wine tasting, just be sure to make an appointment. We took some bottles home with us and will be back to enjoy some more. Cons: Can I really think of any no. I would only wish that the stemware reflected the quality of the wine. It would be great to see the reds poured into something that's a little larger than what is provided for the flight.

Yelp
Absolutely loved stags. I wish I could give this place a 6/5 but unfortunately I can't. Our server was Scottie and let me tell you the history, the experience, and the ambience, was unlike no other vineyard iv been too. Scottie was unbelievable and we couldn't have asked for a better host in the time we were there. I highly recommend stag"s and absolutely loved their wine. Highly recommend the experience here and is one of my favorite spots in Napa

Yelp
We had the opportunity to do a private wine tasting in Napa this past week. Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is one of my favorites. With Stag's Leap, I generally drink the Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon, but this trip, we treated ourselves. We tried the Estate Collection Tasting Flight! Our Pourer provided us with a table that included an incredible view of the rocky promontory of the Stages Leap Palisades (see picture). She was fantastic ...... knowledgeable, helpful, and congenial. Our wines included two of my most favorites (neither of which I drink on a regular basis considering economics) - a Fay Cabernet Sauvignon (2017) and a Fay Hillside Cab (2015). They were both marvelous. If you appreciate good red wine ...... put Stag's Leap on your list.

Yelp
Amazing tasting showcasing the best of Stag's with a true professional! Victor, you're a down-to-earth, knowledgeable, funny and passionate representative. Thank you for sharing your birthday with us while delivering such a perfect wine experience today! Excellent wines, no pretense (even though it's a hype-worthy winery), and an all around great way to start out day! Loved everything about it!

Yelp
We had a great time with Gary. Incredible knowledge and insight of the winery and region. Great wines (a modest 100 and 99 point selection). This winery has a historic pedigree and their brand is a important member of the Napa Valley community.

Yelp
A lovely sitting/tasting area with nice views, and quite good, but expensive, wine. We did the cave tour first (while we had a glass of white) which was fun and informative. Then we settled in for the main tasting where we had 5 reds. They were all quite tasty but the bottles were quite expensive. It's a historic spot and one that was on my bucket list so I'm happy I went but may not go back too soon.

Yelp
Add Stag's to your itinerary and ask for Mo. He went above and beyond to provide an awesome tasting experience. Five stars all around.

Yelp
We joined our friends on a guided tour of the enchanting Stag's Leap Wine Cellars . It was a beautiful drizzling day that inspired jaw dropping views of the vineyards and caves. We ended with this mouthwatering #CelestialTastingExperience by @cheftraviswestrope and crew. I was struck by the smell of the caves and chardonay cellars. The taste of the S.L.V, & Cask 23 Cabernet Sauvignon were some of the best I have tried in Napa. We may have left with a few bottles.

Yelp
Awesome experience, we loved how our wine educator Aaron catered the experience to us and gave us examples of great food pairings with the wines once he learned our interest in wine came from our food service experience. The atmosphere was gorgeous and the wines were delicious, this was my favorite winery visit of our trip for my birthday and a great part of that was personalized the experience Aaron provided.

Yelp
We were wonderfully taken care of by Scott who infused his passion for wine and knowledge of the beautiful geography into our wine experience the day after Christmas. We were greeted with a bonus pour of Chardonnay as soon as we walked in by the friendly smiling staff and even had another bonus pour during our tasting. Overall a perfect balance of fun and learning around world class wine!

Yelp
Hands down a top-notch experience for experienced and novices alike. We joined the cave and wine tasting experience on a Saturday morning and was treated to an informative and fun backstage tour and then a relaxing wine tasting experience in the main area. Liz was such a joy as a hostess to our time there. She's knowledgeable, patient, and shared many fun stories about the area and the wines. We really loved asking questions about the vineyard, the different types of wine and also requested for some recommendations in the area. She was more than happy to help and we did end up following her recommendations! As a Bay Area local, I'll be putting down Stag's Leap as one of the must-go for our future visits whether it's on our own or for out of town guests. Thank you so much!

Yelp
A little bit confusing because there is another winery called Stags' Leap (notice placement of apostrophe) about 1 mile away and they are NOT at all affiliated. This one definitely has the superior service and wine! I tasted many delicious cabs that are going to age beautifully. Since I feel like I'm investing in my future taste buds, the price tag doesn't sting quite as much. The Artemis, Fay and SLV all made it into my cart and into my cellar and they are labeled so I don't accidentally drink them when I'm drunk ... or drink them with a bunch of drunks. Also grabbed a couple of the Sauvignon blancs to enjoy this summer, but it's only February and I don't think they will last the month.

Yelp
Only read about this winery. Finally had a chance to check the place out. Had reservations for 2 on Sunday afternoon. Upon walking in, the indoor tasting area was crowded and loud. Lucky for us after about 15 minutes almost everyone else's tasting ended. I really enjoyed the floor the ceiling windows. Excellent view of the vineyards. We had the standard 4 glass tasting with the Chardonnay, 2019 fay, fay hillside, and slv. All the reds were young and too tannic for me. Then our host (Liz) brought out some older cask 23's. Next thing you know I dropped $$$$ for the older wines and became a member. Never understood why wineries always pour you to "soso" stuff in the beginning. Good job Liz.

Yelp
Not a pleasant experience. We visited on a cold day and the outdoor seating was closed. It was very crowded, they seem to be understaffed and the workers were rude. We were only given less than 30 minutes to enjoy our flight despite our 75 minute reservation. The wines were good and Ambiance was cool. The staff was rude!

Yelp
Waking into Stag's leap is impressive, the history is well presented. The taste of the wine is superb. Our wine host was an idiot. The grey haired, glasses wearing host we had started out nice. But as the tasting went on, and he began to push the "membership", his attitude changed. One person in our party showed interest in becoming a member, so the host brought over a sign up card. My friend, filled out the card using his title as "Dr" as he should, because he is. Once our wine host saw that he was a Doctor, He began kissing his ass so much that he completely forgot that there was 5 other people at the table. Our host started bringing out wines that were for "members only", pouring the Doctor big pours and pouring the rest of us what he called "teeny tiny splashes". Our host disgustingly gushed over the Doctor, saying "Dr, would YOU like some more wine? Dr would YOU like some water, Dr is there anything else I can do for YOU." My wife and I were here for our 20th anniversary. We came here because of the history, and we were excited to taste the wine here. I was the one who suggested this winery. My wife and I were ready to sign up, become members and take a few bottles home with us. Credit card was out, filled out the card, circled the bottles we wanted. The other couple we were with did the same. We were all ready to sign up. But our host never came back to ask anybody if they were interested. Walked passed us a few times, never asking us anything after he found out a Doctor was at our table. Our host missed out on 2 more memberships, and the purchase of at least 6 more bottles of wine. After tasting wines at many wineries, I realize that the wine host has a lot to do with your overall experience. If the wine host is friendly, knowledgeable, and of good service, the wine will taste that much better. Unfortunately, the taste of Stag's Leap wines will now remind me of the host that ignored us, and made us feel as if this wine was not for us.

Yelp
Arrived on a cool, drizzly afternoon for an Estate Tasting. Have been members here for several years. We were seated outside with beautiful views of the vines, though it was pretty cool. Blankets were provided to keep warm. Gary was our server and was pleasant and very knowledgeable. What I love about SLWC tastings is that a separate glass is provided for each wine. And the wine glasses are huge, especially those for the reds, making tasting more aromatic and interesting. Always a fan of their reds, we found that the Arcadia Chardonnay was one of the best we ever tasted. Although a matter of taste, the wines here speak for themselves. They are expertly made and, in my opinion, delicious.

Yelp
My husband booked me a surprise trip To Napa with the first stop being here, my favorite wine it did not disappoint. We were greeted with a glass of Chardonnay (I know, not what you think of when you think stags leap) while waiting for our tour to begin. The tour was about 20mins and took us through the very elegant wine cave. After the tour we ended in the tasting room where a tasting was all set up as we looked over the vineyards. We had the good stuff( SLV and cask 23). Definitely a high end experience.
