"This is where wild swimming gets really wild, with plenty of sky-high jumping spots - the more casual bather may want to swerve this one. For those diving in, you can expect to swim alongside wild salmon, which may make you feel rather cumbersome, especially when they leap in and out of the water."
Fairly calm river coming down and under the packhorse bridge (which is very narrow to drive over, just a few inches either side). After the bridge it speeds up to a small rapid before going over three bigger falls and gets very noisy. Great for photos and close to the road.

Not much room to park or a bit of a trek. Path from road rutted and rough not suited to poor mobility. After driest spring for sixty years waterfall a bit modest. Knights Table cafe at top of hill down good for a refreshing snack.

If you can park in the small area just over the bridge you are a minute's walk to the force. The bridge is narrow as is the road leading to it. Having said that it's well worth a walk to see it....

Lovely waterfall a short 10-15 minute walk from the Stainforth car park. A bit muddy in the rain, but lovely area.

A quietly impressive place- even in low water conditions. Take care with children.

Lovely walk aside the waterfall and following the river.

Well worth a visit, especially if the river is swollen. No salmon visible today when we visited but the sheer force of the falls was incredible following heavy rain overnight. Don't ignore the width restriction sign down from the main road (Dog Hill Brow), you won't get down the lane or over the bridge!

We parked in Stainforth, then walked to this waterfall, followed by Catrigg Force. Great waterfall. Lots of people paddling at the top, and jumping into the falls. Will pay a return visit to see the salmon. There's also a lovely bridge close to the falls. There's also a small amount of layby parking near the falls, but extremely busy.
