Stakkholtsgjá canyon

Absolutely amazing. Beautiful valley to walk in, and once you walk about 30min you can get inside a cave with a huge waterfall inside of it. Apparently Game of Thrones was filmed here as well.

Beautiful canyon. Really nice to walk and explore here. However If the weather is bad you might not be able to walk very far as the river swells up. We were taken here by a tour and i‘d have loved to stay longer. We were the only people here, so it was really relaxing and we were able to really enjoy nature

I am giving this attractions 5 stars as it was indeed stunning. However I must warn everyone about my groups experience as we all easily could have been killed (1 had to go to hospital). We had been enjoying the waterfall for about 30 mins and was getting ready to pack up when out of nowhere we had a section of the wall near the top of the falls collapse and send what I imagine to be roughly 20 tons of rock raining down on us with nowhere to run. It felt like an earthquake with the rocks falling. Luckily we managed to jump behind a boulder for cover but the shrapnel of the rocks exploding on the floor covered is with debris and about 6 inches of stone dust by our feet. One of us took a larger piece of shrapnel to the head, another to the face multiple body injuries etc... Nothing to do with the location, just a random event that can occur anywhere at any time. If anyone return to this cave and happens to find a cell phone please reach out to me. Would also love to see new pictures to compare to those that we took. Enjoy and stay safe

An incredible piece of nature, very hard to get to though. Impossible by foot, so you’re gonna need AWD. For the Twenty Øne Pilots fans: this is the real Trench. They shot Jumpsuit (and some parts of Levitate and Nico and The Niners) here. Very surreal to walk around in this canyon. Insane!

Amazing sighting. We got to the canyon with an organized tour group - getting there on your own is difficult due to many rivers on the road.

Excellent place for a short hike, the views are exceptional, and it’s an easy access with few people around, possibly you will be alone. The way to the trail is great ride. Very recommended.

One of the most beautiful places in Iceland. Can be seen as part of a loop hike from Thorsmork / Basar

One of the most gorgeous places I've hiked on earth! Walking through this canyon was a dream! And there's hidden areas with majestic waterfalls!!! I would 10/10 recommend hiking here if you're going to Thorsmork!
