Best part of our trip so far. We stopped off for one night on our Norway in a nutshell tour on the way to Gudvagen - I would highly recommend this. |We would have been happy to stay here the entire trip. |We found the hotel to be delightfully old fashioned and charming. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. The view is truly spectacular and we were lucky enough to have it from our room as well (323).|We had the buffet dinner in the evening which we loved. Excellent quality food and good variety. |Really good value for money. |Don’t stay if you are wanting a generic, modern, formulaic hotel.

We just stopped for the view. The hotel is gorgeous! They allow travelers to walk through to the rear for the view. I would definitely stay there if I ever came back. Restaurant on site.

This hotel knows what it has. The views are stunning, especially from the valley view rooms. There is a great hike to two waterfalls that is about 1.5 miles round trip. The included breakfast was good with a moderate selection. The dinner buffet (595 KOR) was not worth it in my opinion. It had tons of cold seafood, but limited hot food. The best part was the fish soup. The rooms have no TV, which was wonderful for us. Also, if you happen to be here overnight, consider waking up in the middle of the night to see the stars over the valley. Stunning

Haven't seen a hotel this dirty in a long time. This place is slowly turning into a health hazard. Stay away if you have allergies or asthma. The carpet floors look like they haven't been cleaned in ages. The walls are dirty and full of stains. This place is in a desperate need of a renovation. Majority of guests were from bus tours. Looks like the owners are trying to milk the contracts they landed as much as they can, instead of putting money into maintenance. I paid 170 euros to sleep in this mess. It's outrageous.

Best thing is the splendid view overlooking the valley, simply amazing. However the negative aspects were quite bad. This hotel is really dated and is in desperate need of a refurb, absolutely old. Food wasn't brilliant, and wasn't restocked quick enough considering the amount of people they had crammed in there. All the tables were set for communal dining. It was really awful having to sit with people you don't know. The tables were also too close together making it difficult to get in and out. Staff seemed fed up and surly in the restaurant. Wouldn't stay here again.

The hotel has a nice souvenir shop that wasn't expensive. It has similar prices to Bergen. They have decent coffee as well. Terrace has great views too. For those on Norway in a nutshell tour they give you a free lefse treat as well. Try it.

The staff in the breakfast room were warm and friendly. As soon as we had eaten our plates were whisked away so we could have our next course. The choices for breakfast was typical of a good hotel in Norway. So many choices, displayed beautifully and of a high quality. If you don’t enjoy the Stallheim Hotel experience, the problem might just be you!

An historic Hotel with lovely views across the valley. Spacious common areas with a myriad artefacts to peruse. But that probably concludes the positives. |Another extremely old and dated Norwegian Hotel…third in a row, living off the view and not investing a cent in the facility. |Rooms spacious but dated and worn. Minimal power outlets and curtains more sheer than blockout. Ineffective. |A motor commenced and continued at about 5 am, permeating across the building. Sounded like being in an aeroplane. |Easily the worst evening meal experience of our trip. We arrived at 8.20 pm and were instructed by reception to leave our suitcases in the lobby and go straight to the restaurant as it closes at 9 pm. |Of course we checked in with 40 plus Chinese and it was the residual remains of a buffet as 3 other coaches had already checked in and dined. |Breakfast buffet no better… a minimal offering compared to previous breakfasts - and anything on offer needed replenishing which the staff couldn’t keep up. |“Feeding time at the trough.”|A popular tourist coach location with 5 in the carpark.

Yelp
Came here as a coffee and pastry break during a tour. Highlights: * the back terrace is the place to sit back and relax as it has amazing views of the Nærøy Valley * there is a rather larger gift shop that is split into multiple levels * the restrooms are located on the lower lever, and there was an elevator for those who couldn't use the stairs * they was a mini museum that was made of of various items from the previous hotel owners collection *the did off a nice gluten free brownie ***the main road getting into the hotel is narrow and two way, though really wide enough for a single car in a section, so there might be a brief queue when tour buses arrive/depart

Yelp
The journey was one that lasted all day. We left Bergen by van, spending time at a sheep farm in the foothills and then on to an old train up into the mountains, switching to a modern train, then back to a van to drive through beautiful Norway mountains to stay a few nights at this very old, many times renovated, historic hotel. Forgive the long sentence, but that encapsulated the journey here. This is a tourist hotel with assigned eating times to accommodate the various international travel groups. Food was buffet and decent, with hot plates and then a generous salad bar and an area of special items, like baked salmon and specific local dishes. Very efficiently operated and the food was good. Rooms were basic, nothing fancy, but very clean. A small bar is opposite the gift shop that is next to the check-in area. There is an elevator, but the stairs are easy with only three floors in the hotel. The vistas are amazing as you stand on a patio looking down on the steep Naeroy Valley far below. Their web page has this stunning view. Walking away from the hotel is a former village of wood houses and businesses. Nothing is operating or open to enter, so it appears that this is a collection of traditional buildings that were there or brought there over time to preserve them. Lots of trees, bushes and quiet. Very romantic to walk about here. Comfortable and you can arrange tours from here into the surrounding area.

Yelp
It was a long, complicated journey from Bergen to Flam that took nearly six hours starting with the train, then being assigned to a bus, and finally cruising on a fjord boat. Luckily, the scenery did a lot to compensate for the complexities, and this brief stopover on the bus leg was an unexpected pleasure. Instead of stopping at a roadside rest area, we were left off at this atmospheric hotel for not only a coffee break but interesting historic antiques in the lobby and a beautiful view of the steep Naeroy Valley even as the fog threatened to blanket it all (photo: https://bit.ly/3DLAKYK). Jamie W. and I felt bad because the hotel was clearly short-staffed, and the woman running the gift shop was also fulfilling the coffee orders. Oh well, back to the bus. RELATED - Exploring Norway? Yelp
I didnt stay her but just came back quietly to see the view from the back of the hotel because so many places recommended to see the view from here. You park out front, walk through the lobby and see a glimpse of this very traditional hotel to the back, and BAM! Just a breathtaking view that words can't describe and isn't the same unless you see it in person. Pictures don't do it justice. I don't know about the hotel but if I could wake up to that view, I don't think I would complain staying here.

Yelp
Conde Nast rightly called the view from room 324 one of the best of any hotel in the world; any fjord side room would probably do the trick, and in any event, the view is best enjoyed with breakfast down on the terrace. But the coolest thing about this hotel is that you can stoke the wood-burning (as if there were any other kind) fireplace in the grand atrium late into the wee hours. Do keep the logs in the back corner, unless you want to smoke up the hotel. Decent food, less cosmopolitan than in Oslo or Bergen. Very humble guest rooms. Like many European showers, whether in hotels or homes, this hotel's suffer from obvious self-inflicted safety defects: slippery, small, sloped floors (i.e., bathtubs) with high walls. Have a raincoat handy if you're coming from the bus stop! It's always sprinkling (or more) here and the hike is about a mile up the mountain.
