"Stallmästaregården began its life as a somewhat rural stablemaster’s farm. This was before Queen Kristina decided, in 1645, that she wanted to host her midsummer festivities here, at which point the stablemaster rapidly transformed the farm into an inn. Now, despite being within the city limits, Stallmästaregården feels like a rural retreat, flanked as it is by the expansive Royal Haga Park and scenic Brunnsviken Bay, in addition to its own verdant gardens. A painstaking restoration and redesign has left the onetime farm still rustic and homey, true to its 17th-century inn background, while simultaneously infusing it with healthy doses of both midcentury and contemporary Scandinavian design. The true star is the restaurant, an unpretentiously stylish destination that serves gourmet Swedish cuisine to discerning locals and out-of-towners against a picturesque natural backdrop. But the best part comes when everyone goes home and the inn is left to the guests."

"Even in a city rich with green space, Stockholm’s Stallmästaregården offers up a surprisingly pastoral scene. A former stable-master’s farm and the oldest inn in the city, it’s situated on the banks of Brunnsviken Bay in Royal Haga Park, lending it the feel of a country retreat even though it’s just minutes from the center of the city." - Tablet Hotels
I stayed at Stallmästaregården for 4 nights and really enjoyed my time there. My room was on the smaller side but very charming, with lovely design details and direct access to the yard, which I found cozy and convenient. The style of the hotel is so cute and well thought out — it really adds to the overall atmosphere.
The breakfast was quite nice, and I especially loved the breads, which were fresh and delicious. The only small downside was that the room didn’t have slippers (flip-flops), which would have been a nice touch for comfort.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Stallmästaregården for its charm, comfort, and great breakfast.

We stayed ten days at Stallmastergarden mainly for the proximity to our son’s and his family’s apartment. We were pleased with the room, staff and the proximity to the park and lake. The overall quality was very good especially the breakfast buffet each morning. OsaMaria of the breakfast staff was especially friendly. We would stay again if we returned to this area of Stockholm.

I can fully recommend this hotel: beautifully located by a pond, very cozy, excellent food, lovely suites, and above all extremely friendly staff. They went to great lengths to prepare a wonderful birthday surprise in December. Many thanks!

We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend to have a look at Stockholm and do the local parkrun. The room was on two levels for up to three people and this worked well for us (although the staircase to the upper level was steep and narrow, so no good if you have mobility issues). Although situated to the edge of the city centre, communications by bus and metro were good and all tourist sites were easily reached. The hotel is also at the bottom of the beautiful Hagaparken park next to Brunnsvikens Lake - a great spot for walking and running near to the city. Of spacious traditional low rise construction built around a courtyard, the hotel is attractive and welcoming, with spacious sitting areas and a large restaurant. The staff were welcoming and polite and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. Overall, although perhaps a bit more expensive than alternatives, I would recommend this hotel for short or longer stays.

This venue was chosen by our daughter and son-in-law for their wedding stay and reception. It was like stepping back in time. I urge people to read about the history of this beautiful site on SMG’s website! We totally enjoyed our stay!

The rooms are top notch. (The best water pressure I can remember having in a shower anywhere! Invigorating!) The restaurant is great... Dinner was amazing! A good selection of local dishes. Service couldn't be beat with every interaction. Friendly, helpful, giving extra multiple times. Highly recommend! Note - One of our rooms was a junior suite that had a second floor bedroom. We liked the living room downstairs and bedroom upstairs. The stairs were quite steep and could be a challenge for some. No issue for us, but something to be aware of.

I had booked another Design hotel months ago with a water view. I ended up cancelling it because I read that it didn’t give elite members any benefits. Then I found this hotel, which seemed to offer elite members more. As soon as we arrived I was so glad about my change. The setting of this hotel is so peaceful and relaxing. I was graciously welcomed and got upgraded to a view of the garden. You feel more like you are in a country house than a boring hotel. There is some road noise even with the garden view if you keep the windows open, but I get more annoyed by other guests slamming their doors than road noise and always play white noise at night to avoid this. I was also pleasantly surprised that breakfast was included—a complaint I had seen about the other design hotel. In the comments I address prices re cabs to deal with the hotel’s walking distance from main part of town and the fact that public transportation is not much faster than walking. I would gladly stay here again (one critique: you can’t message through bonvoy app and I couldn’t get phone to work. I asked for safe to be fixed while I was at breakfast, which other hotels have done, and it was not fixed. No big deal… but when I got back hours later it still hadn’t been fixed. Update: staff knocked on my door and said they couldn’t repair the safe but said they could move me to another room)

Great dinner + hotel experience, just too far away from the city center and away from every public transportation, you'll have to use a taxi/uber
