"Stallmästaregården began its life as a somewhat rural stablemaster’s farm. This was before Queen Kristina decided, in 1645, that she wanted to host her midsummer festivities here, at which point the stablemaster rapidly transformed the farm into an inn. Now, despite being within the city limits, Stallmästaregården feels like a rural retreat, flanked as it is by the expansive Royal Haga Park and scenic Brunnsviken Bay, in addition to its own verdant gardens. A painstaking restoration and redesign has left the onetime farm still rustic and homey, true to its 17th-century inn background, while simultaneously infusing it with healthy doses of both midcentury and contemporary Scandinavian design. I stayed at Stallmästaregården for 4 nights and really enjoyed my time there. My room was on the smaller side but very charming, with lovely design details and direct access to the yard, which I found cozy and convenient. The style of the hotel is so cute and well thought out — it really adds to the overall atmosphere. The breakfast was quite nice, and I especially loved the breads, which were fresh and delicious. The only small downside was that the room didn’t have slippers (flip-flops), which would have been a nice touch for comfort. Overall, I would definitely recommend Stallmästaregården for its charm, comfort, and great breakfast.

The staff were lovely and the bathroom facilities were excellent. Unfortunately those are really the only good points about this hotel. The bed was not comfortable at all and the pillows were much too soft, so sleep quality was not brilliant. The food was average at best. Location wasn’t awful.

Stayed with my partner and baby for a long weekend in November/December. I can unfortunately not recommend staying at the hotel. There are a lot of constructions going on around and inside the hotel. We were woken up at 7AM by loud construction sounds in the room across from us that woke our baby up and had to quickly take our baby outside in the stroller so that he could sleep. We complained but the loud constructions continued anyways. The hotel is located right next to a very busy crossroad and is not very central in Stockholm. It is not well connected to the metro, so transporting anywhere central is going to take a while unless you have a car. Our hotel room was very warm the entire stay, more than 25 degrees. We complained amongst others at the hotel but it was not fixed during our stay.

We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend to have a look at Stockholm and do the local parkrun. The room was on two levels for up to three people and this worked well for us (although the staircase to the upper level was steep and narrow, so no good if you have mobility issues). Although situated to the edge of the city centre, communications by bus and metro were good and all tourist sites were easily reached. The hotel is also at the bottom of the beautiful Hagaparken park next to Brunnsvikens Lake - a great spot for walking and running near to the city. Of spacious traditional low rise construction built around a courtyard, the hotel is attractive and welcoming, with spacious sitting areas and a large restaurant. The staff were welcoming and polite and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. Overall, although perhaps a bit more expensive than alternatives, I would recommend this hotel for short or longer stays.

We stayed ten days at Stallmastergarden mainly for the proximity to our son’s and his family’s apartment. We were pleased with the room, staff and the proximity to the park and lake. The overall quality was very good especially the breakfast buffet each morning. OsaMaria of the breakfast staff was especially friendly. We would stay again if we returned to this area of Stockholm.

This could have been a jolly little youth hostel. But for a Marriott Design Hotel, it is pretty underwhelming. If I wanted to experience how people lived 200 years ago, I would visit Skansen. That said, big things seem to be happening; judging by the constitution noises, somebody is tearing down the east wing and building a new ballroom.

I can fully recommend this hotel: beautifully located by a pond, very cozy, excellent food, lovely suites, and above all extremely friendly staff. They went to great lengths to prepare a wonderful birthday surprise in December. Many thanks!

There was really loud construction work going on in the room next to ours starting from 7:00 AM. We stayed there in November/December and the temperature in our room was stiflingly hot. Our baby monitor showed 26ºC throughout the entire stay, even though we asked them to turn down the temperature. Opening the windows did not help at all. The internet didn't work, so don't plan on working from there.
