I had read that this place offered excellent Neapolitan-style pizza and a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, my experience was far from that. The restaurant was less than half full when we arrived for an early dinner. Our waiter was friendly but clearly overwhelmed, appearing to manage the entire floor alone.
We ordered two pizzas — one with ‘Nduja and another with carciofi. Despite the restaurant still not being busy, it took nearly 40 minutes for our food to arrive, which is unreasonably long for pizza. There were some takeaway orders being picked up, but that hardly justifies such a delay.
When the pizzas finally came, they were lukewarm, suggesting they hadn’t come straight from the oven. The ‘Nduja lacked flavor and was barely present, while the carciofi pizza was disappointingly bland. Overall, the food was average at best — certainly not worth the wait.
To make matters worse, just as we finished eating, a man who appeared to be the owner or general manager curtly asked us to move to another table. Even after I explained that we were about to pay, he insisted, saying, “I need this table right now,” with no apology or courtesy. After waiting so long for mediocre food, this level of rudeness was unacceptable.
Berlin has plenty of places that serve far better pizza with far better attitude. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this one.
