Stanley BFL CANADA Stage, Arts Club Theatre Company

It’s great that an old movie theatre has been saved and used as a live theatre venue. The shows are highly professional but relatively affordable. Our latest Arts Club visit was for their version of Disney’s Frozen. Our 10-year-old sports-minded grandson loved the theatrical presentation of the show, as did his ancient escorts.

The Stanley is such a lovely gem of a theatre in the heart of the South Granville! We recently saw the Waitress Musical there and it was such a fantastic show. The set was beautiful, great acoustics, and there really isn’t a bad seat in the entire place. The orchestra plays all the music live, too! We sat centre orchestra this time, but I’ve sat in the balcony before as well and it’s just as good of a view if you prefer being higher up. They have a bar area when you walk in for drinks and very light snacks (candy, chocolate, cookies, etc). Our show started at 8pm, so a great time to be able to grab dinner beforehand. Highly recommend seeing a show at the Stanley for a date night!

Fantastic show last night. Love the theatre, it is not a big venue. The stage was not that high, I can watched the show Jersey Boys comfortable from 5th row. So close I can clearly see the expression of the performers. The sound and lights was perfect. Not the most comfortable seats. Wish there were more drink selection instead of mainly alcohol.

I've held seasons tickets for the Arts Club for many years. The Stanley is a fairly decent venue for plays & musicals. The sound quality is generally good and the stage provides ample space for casts up to twelve actors. However, there are a few negatives. The theatre building is old with a great architectural ceiling, but the seats, carpet, and washrooms are screaming for an update. And the lobby bar/snacks are quite expensive. Patrons are permitted to take their drinks and snack items to their seats, which is a nice bonus. Good location with plenty of free street parking in the surrounding area, and paid parking closer to the theatre.

A jewel of a venue. A wonderful theatre with professionally trained staff. Lighting and sound were on point. The acoustics were excellent, ensuring every note and word resonates beautifully throughout the space. The venue's layout ensured an enjoyable experience. Everything was very well organized. Top-notch venue to take in a show! Will always be back for more wonderful shows. I watched Cambodian Rock Band and they delivered a breathtaking performance I will never forget. I empathize with the tragic history that the play brought to life. It explores the resilience of music and the weight of family secrets. It touched my heart, my soul and my spirit. Lauren Yee tackles a period of horrific genocide and builds a complex story where humor, tragedy, and song can all exist at the same time. This play tells a piece of history often overlooked. The play keeps the whole spirit of Cambodia and the culture alive. This play is truly wonderful. Well-developed characters, a history lesson, and great performances. It’s performed by a cast of talented individuals. They bring such a powerful, inspiring, and enlightening show to the stage. From what I could see from my seat, the whole audience was captivated by the production. Cambodian Rock Band truly deserved its ovation. The talent is insane. I was on my feet clapping and cheering at the end. The storytelling and music have touched me deeply. It’s clear that the show’s impact, power and beauty has rocked the people of Vancouver. Cambodian Rock Band is an important musical that should be seen by all. It was a memorable evening that left me wanting to learn more. The show was so electric, so deeply moving that I was thinking about it long after the lights went down. It is deeply impactful, and is a must-see performance.

Went to the frozen show, over 300$ for two tickets , sister and I, we are easily entertained, but this show was like a high school play , limited decor limited special effects, Elsa dress was extremely lacking , wrong colour and no cape !!!!! Absolutely NOT worth it

Great venue that's in a location easy to get to by car or transit. Sound/visibility are pretty good and the size is just right to enjoy live entertainment in without feeling too cramped!

Saw the show "Waitress". Excellent production. Good singing, acting and story. The front of house staff were quite friendly and helpful. The Stanley is a beautiful and comfortable theatre. The air conditioning was most welcome on a hot day.
