Where to Stay in Istanbul When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"I was just steps from Istanbul’s most iconic sights at Stanpoli Hostel and enjoyed a Turkish-style breakfast on the lovely rooftop terrace with a great view of the historic district; the spacious dorms have reading lights, power outlets, and privacy curtains, the thick mattresses actually let you sleep well, and the friendly staff know the city and share great insider tips." - Matthew Kepnes

Great experience at Stanpoli Hostel. The location was perfect for a first timer in Istanbul - very close to the Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, Hagia Sofia and many areas of interest. All the staff were very helpful and breakfast on the rooftop terrace was a nice way to start the day with a view out to the water and the shipping traffic. Our room was plenty spacious for two (a private double) and water pressure was great. We also appreciated the air conditioning as the days are very hot in July.|Will stay again if we make it back to the city as there is much more to see!

Fantastic experience at Stanpoli! Very clean, comfy beds, kind and helpful staff, and perfect location with a 5 min walk to Arasta Bazaar and surrounded by shops and beautiful outdoor restaurants, 10 min walk to Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque and to the trams to take you anywhere quickly. Rooftop patio with breathtaking view! Felt super safe even walking late at night back to the hotel. This was our 2nd time staying at Stanpoli and we look forward to a 3rd trip one day. So much to see and do!

Lovely family run hostel in a really nice and convenient part of the city. Incredible staff - the manager, Osman, was really friendly, and gave super helpful advice. Would highly recommend to anyone travelling to Istanbul. The mixed dorm I stayed in was clean and the beds were good. Homemade breakfast on the rooftop terrace was a great way to start the day.

We loved staying at Stanpoli. A cozy and friendly atmosphere, proper accommodations, great breakfast and view from the rooftop. Fair price. And whenever we needed assistance they were always available.

Lovely, quiet hostel in a great location, right near the blue mosque. Staff were so friendly and I felt very looked after. Great big breakfast and a private bathroom in the shared room. Lots of information available and the staff are wonderful to chat to.

Amazing value considering the low price and central location. The included Turkish breakfast was also delicious and more than enough.
