Google
They regularly close before their posted hours, leading to multiple wasted trips for me. Customer service could be better. But at least they're cheap.

James Knobloch

Google
Have been coming here for years and will continue to — everyone here is great, knowledgeable and helpful. Reasonable prices for high-quality work. So many of my pieces look more expensive than they were thanks to the great tailoring. 10/10.

Josh Pedersen

Google
Pablo and his team are brilliant. I found him when I first moved to Manhattan 3 years ago. He is now my go-to tailor. Has tailored over 10 suits and 30+ trousers and jeans. Don’t go in and expect to have your garment completed by the next day-his talent/value makes his turnaround roughly 2 weeks. He is the friendliest and most professional tailor I’ve met in the city. Heads up—CASH only

Annie S.

Google
The one and only tailor shop I use. I moved away from NYC years ago and I still bring my clothes here.

Shawn Carter

Google
Pablo and his team are the best, kindest and most thoughtful tailors I have worked with. Every piece they have done for me has been perfectly done and always done when I need it, not to mention for the most reasonable price! Have been going since 2018!

Google
Heard about this tailor shop through word of mouth. Up until recently I've always had my suits tailored at local dry cleaners. You know, all the dry cleaning stores that have that same generic sign that either says tailor or that photo of a woman/man by the sewing machine. Then I wonder why my suits never fit the way I want it to fit. When I went into this shop, Pablo the owner was very friendly and super knowledgeable. He tailors your suits exactly how you want it and if you're not sure which style looks best, he will make suggestions based on your physique. The prices are slightly higher but not by much. Remember you get what you pay for. The service is fast. I highly recommend this tailor shop for all of your tailoring needs.

Google
Stanton (Pablo) has done tons of work for me over 5 years plus. He is extremely efficient, his tailor is quite frequently incredible. Love their tailoring on jeans, suits, big coats, they do great work.

Google
Been going to Stanton tailor since high school day"s in the 80's .I go no where else glad he's still around. Thankyou! For your excellent service.

Eddy R.

Yelp
Had my sport jacket tailored and pants hemmed. Both came out perfect. Excellent service , very professional and great price.

Yelp
Yes!!! This shop is the epitome of a local, small town community spot. I was freaking out about a tear in my favorite dress. He was kind enough to fix it on the spot for me, gratis! Remember: they don't answer their phone and are cash only. But their service and kindness makes up for it.
google avatar

Yelp
These guys are literally the best tailors in the game. I've taken everything from suits to dress shirt to tee shirts to get tailored and they make everything look custom made. Turn around is great, service is welcoming.

Yelp
I brought in a $200 pair of Selvedge denim from APC to the shop for a hem and a taper. I already had measurements in mind and Pablo also gave me his 2 cents on how the jeans could look better on me and man, I do not regret it. These are the best fitting jeans I have to this day. First of all, I cannot stress it enough that selvedge denim should NOT be taken in (tapered) from the outseam !! I asked Pablo if he can do inseam work and he assured me with confidence. Upon picking up my jeans I inspected the little details and everything was spot on. The recreated felt inseam looked flawless and it was done exactly how I wanted. Pablo and his team really knows some finesse. The hem and taper was $30 together and I picked up my jeans on the promised turnaround date. Honestly this is an unbeatable price and without a doubt QUALITY WORK!

Yelp
Had a really strong recommendation from a friend. Unfortunately stopped by three times during business hours and has been closed. Phone number doesn't work either

Yelp
Pablo's prices are reasonable but he's not so good at tailoring women's clothing. I had to take 2 blouses back to him 4 times and still the alterations weren't done correctly! Plus, he's very argumentative and can be downright rude when you correct him! And he doesn't follow directions that well. He's also very creepy and will "size you up" like a juicy beef steak and make little sexual innuendos at you if you have a nice body! (UGH) ----------------------------------------- PS: He's back open now. He closed last December 2020 because he was diagnosed with COVID-19 and was in mandatory quarantine.

Yelp
Good work, terrible business. Their prices are not definitely the cheapest, but their work is good. What really sets them apart is their blatant disrespect for their customers. Their posted hours mean nothing and their phone has been disconnected for years leaving them virtually unresponsive. You should fully expect to arrive at the storefront and be greeted by a closed metal cage--no matter whether you're dropping off or picking up. This has happened on four separate occasions in the past six months, all different days and times of day. I've used them religiously for five years but have reached my limit today. There are other tailors around Manhattan who won't disrespect their customers. Best of luck, Vargas.

Yelp
Took my work pants here for a basic hem. I went in, put on the pants, and the tailor pinned them. Picked them up the next day for only $10! Great value.

Yelp
If you want an above average tailor at reasonable Manhattan prices and have a lot of time to waste, this is the tailor for you. There is only one person in the shop who does the fittings so if you go there and he's not there, then you've wasted your time. They do give you hours that he is there, but I've gone there 3 times now during those hours over the last few months and he's "stepped out" or "is at the doctor" or they're "too busy to take in new items" so I've had to turn back home with all the stuff I lugged there... each time has taken an hour out of my day. I had one really good experience with them and I don't know another tailor in the city, which is why I kept trying to go back, but at this point, they're so unreliable it's no longer worth the hassle. The worst part is they don't even have a working phone (the store confirmed this when I asked today) so you can't even call ahead to ask if they'll be able to see you. You literally have to go there and waste your time to find out. I'd avoid it unless you live within 5 minutes and going back and forth wouldn't be a huge waste of time

Yelp
I've been going to Pablo for many years and he's never skipped a beat. There's a reason why he's been open for as long as he has. The vibe in his shop is also so extremely welcoming. He has people that will come from as far as Westchester to have their dresses and suits tailored by Pablo. I personally will bring him all of my suits, pants, jeans, button downs, and sports coast upon first purchase before wearing them, and have him tailor everything, so that all my clothes is custom fit, and he is the master at his craft. I noticed a 1 star review that someone just posted, and after reading his post, it seems as tho he had a great outcome with his clothes but was unhappy with the service... So if you go out to eat and have the best burger in your life but the food took a while to come out, you talk smack on the restaurant? Grow up... Jared B. Pablo isn't just extremely skilled, but he's one of the most kind people you'll meet.

Yelp
Best tailor I've had in the last 25 years. Had a friend recommend the place. One of the rare places I've been to where I bring my suit in once, then when I get it back, it's perfect. Seriously. I've had 6 tailors in my lifetime, this is by far he best, and best value for the high quality work they do. Extremely happy for once in my life with a tailor. Thank you guys!!!

Melissa B.

Yelp
Pablo does such a great job I've brought jeans, dresses, blouses all there and they are always done beautifully in a timely manner. The prices are so reasonable too especially for what people charge in Manhattan now.

Yelp
My wife helped me call in to Stanton Tailor Shop last week to help me schedule a fitting and the gentlemen were great. I brought in two trousers in white and beige for tapering & slimming the waist. Less than one week later, both pants were ready for pick up and the pants were tailored PERFECTLY. This was a huge success for me because it's like finding the right barber, once you have them, their your guy for life. Price was fair for the pants and I'm extremely happy with the outcome and thanks to Yelpers I was able to find this place despite living in Queens, it was well worth the trip. I just dropped off some navy selvedge denim jeans and super excited to have it properly tailored to me. Go check out Stanton Tailors, they're about to have their 37th Year Anniversary soon! Thank you gentlemen.

Amy O.

Yelp
Had an emergency with my pants ripping. Pablo was very kind and attentive to quickly sew up my rip! I'm on a trip from out of state so did not have the time to run back to get a new pair. The price is very good too. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I used to have a job that required me to wear a suit. Every day. I only owned one suit previously, so after I was hired, I went out and bought a couple of the most affordable ones I could find in "my size." By that I mean the suits off the rack that most closely fit my awkward frame. When I switched careers, these suits were permanently relegated to the back of my closet, only to be broken out for weddings, Justin Bieber concerts, and other formal occasions. If I could avoid wearing them, I would; the shoulders were too broad, it hung loosely around my torso, the pants were long and baggy...in short, I was uncomfortable wearing it because it simply did not look good. Pablo is not only a very nice guy who appreciates some good Jewish deli, but he can also take one of my suits, and in five days, transform it into something that I will gladly, almost proudly, wear. The Stanton Tailor Shop is not THAT cheap. It is cash only. It can be crowded and slow, and unbearably warm in the wrong season. But you will be happy with the work, and that's what matters.

Yelp
I've been taking all of my alterations to Pablo Vargas at the Stanton Tailor Shop since 2009 and I can say with no reservation that Pablo is The Man!! He and his team easily merit 5 stars. Their work is precise and the prices are right. As for Pablo himself? He's an affable, charming, very well dressed man (the Yelp photos don't lie!). Give him a try! You'll thank me later!!! TIP: Be forewarned: During peak tailoring seasons (May/June for summer wedding season and October/November for holiday party season) he can have wait times of up to six weeks, especially for more complex jobs. This is due, of course, to the article about him in the New York Times. The link is below: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/11/nyregion/11joint.html

Yelp
Love this spot, and feel like past negative reviews around service and customer treatment must likely be rooted in people that have unreasonable expectations of a small business. When you come here, you are dealing with Pablo and a couple of his skilled co-workers, and that's it. They are quite warm, professional at at the end of the day really good at what they do. If you are expecting zero wait at any time of day, this is not the place for you. If on the other hand you are looking for a very skilled tailor, with very reasonable prices, who will treat you well if you do the same, then look no further.

Will W.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Small shop with 2 available small fitting rooms. Pablo's experience is among the best and his patience and kindness shows when he's working with you. He knows what he's talking about and he'll recommend what's best. I was wary when I read about the 1 star reviews, but I think they're fake. He won't refuse service unless it's unreasonable. There may be long wait times during wedding season or he may go on vacation, but everyone has a life.

Yelp
The best. Nothing more needs be said [but I will anyway]. I call the owner El Maestro. Worth travelling great distances to have work done here. They're a very busy shop, but even so, turnaround time is not so bad: very rarely longer than a week. If you need tailoring, you can't do any better.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
Quick turnaround time for my bridesmaid dress (same day!!!!!!) and great results. This is my new go-to tailor shop.
google avatar

Corey A.

Yelp
Been going here for a long time and have nothing but good things to say. I've trusted them with some very expensive and rare garments and they always handle everything with care. The turnaround time is good, and the pricing is fair.

Yelp
Fantastic shop they repair worn outs Denim. I took several pairs of my favorite jeans there for repair. The staff was very helpful and was able to repair the Rips in my crotch area of the jeans.I was thrilled to receive the final product.

Yelp
This review is long overdue. I have been going to Pablo and the guys for over 6 years and I can't complain about a single thing. An extremely personable man, I love the style and class that Pablo brings every time you meet with him. I have an athletic build from college football days, so Pablo saves me a lot of money in alterations or bespoke clothing -- from altering my blazers in the waist, to tapering jeans / pants, and even taking in around the waist. All of my clothes fit perfectly and not once was anything out of style, "too baggy" or "too tight". My fiancee even raves about Pablo and what the guys do for her clothes. She's been coming here with me for a few years now and hasn't complained once. She always gets her jeans/pants taken up and blazers taken in. Cash only. Turn around is 1-2 weeks. Tight spot. Always packed. Worth every penny.

Carly P.

Yelp
This is my favorite tailor that I've ever had. The quality of the work is excellent, the prices are very fair, the people are nice, and they are very fast. I live in Brooklyn but this is the only place I take my clothes. Plus, they always play great music. :)
google avatar

Larkspur L.

Yelp
The best! My whole wardrobe revitalized with the magic of expert alterations. Highly recommend.

Growth M.

Yelp
Pablo and his crew are amazing, and I happily go out of my way and adjust my schedule to take clothes I love to his shop. Speaking as a classic menswear customer, I've brought countless trousers for hemming, tapering and waist adjustment, as well as numerous jackets for slimming and sleeve shortening (at the cuff). Shirts for darting and sleeve shortening, too. He even significantly slimmed a trench coat, which I didn't think he'd be able to pull off, frankly. Fitting hours can be a little wonky, and you should budget about a week for multiple pieces or a significant alteration. Pricing can be a little uneven, but the quality and consistency far outweighs this quirk. Perhaps best of all, Pablo is open and honest, and he won't accept a job he and his crew aren't comfortable handling. Shortening sleeves at the shoulder or removing belt loops to create side-tabs are two jobs they didn't want to mess with, and I appreciated that honesty. This is an awesome place that's held on as the LES continues it's insane trajectory into the upper reaches of "rich white-o-sphere". Go there, build a relationship and enjoy the benefits of a tailor that knows you well.
google avatar

Christine C.

Yelp
Pablo and his team are magicians! This is my go to spot for all of my tailoring needs. They've altered my furry winter coat to oversized men's pants to fit me. They really are the best.
google avatar

Ruggy J.

Yelp
These guys really are the best. Yesterday I went in because my gym bag went kaput. There was a huge hole and my shoes were falling out of them. Took it into Stanton Tailor Shop and they were able to fix it on the spot for $2. I think I waited for five minutes total. If that's not amazing customer service, I don't know what is!
google avatar

Leeloo T.

Yelp
Pablo and his team of expert tailors will transform your garments. Their work is impeccable and his prices are fair. I have always been greeted with a kind smile and it's a relaxed environment. They love what they do and I love them for being my go to tailor.
google avatar

Willy C.

Yelp
Simply put, Pablo is the man. This is why Stanton gets five stars! Let's get this out of the way first; yes, the place may be small, and a little cramped, but it makes up for that in loads with quality service. Unlike a lot of the other tailors in the LES which I've had experiences with, Pablo at Stanton Tailor Shop takes his time with you. This guy genuinely cares about his work and has been in the biz for decades. Whether it be pinning, measuring or even giving you his best insight on how your item(s) will look after the job is done, you can trust that your precious clothes are in good hands. Whatever you tell them to do, they will do it exactly and precisely as you had asked. Other tailors in the area I've dealt with always felt like rush-jobs and made me feel uneasy after leaving my clothes with them, not Stanton Tailor Shop though. Prices are VERY reasonable too for the quality of work. I have gotten buttons replaced, patches sewn on, shirt sleeves and bodies tapered, pants tapered and hemmed, jeans tapered and hemmed, shorts tapered and hem, pretty much everything. Even had J. Crew button downs tailored to fit like BoO, lulz. People always ask me if I'm wearing designer fashunz but I just smile and tell them courtesy of my tailor Pablo. I've even recommended quite a few friends and once they got their stuff back, they couldn't thank me enough and also became loyal customers. If you're a detail freak like me and want impeccable fitting clothes with certain details like double stitched seams just like how a piece was originally sewn, hit up Stanton, you will not regret it! Word of advice, stay away on the weekends unless you like standing shoulder to shoulder with other customers waiting.
google avatar

Raphael D.

Yelp
Had to step up my dress code game recently and as any sophisticated gent knows pants rarely come off the rack fitting as they should lest you want appear as what the higher gentry calls a "schmuck." I brought in five pairs for length adjustment and a waist adjusted and was in and out in twenty minutes. After a three-day turnaround and fifty bucks later I had five perfectly-fitting pairs of pimp-ass pants. Their hours are weird so always call ahead because they only do fittings on some days and the other days are pick-up only. Don't let the half-rolled door fool you. That means it's pick-ups only. Also bring cash!
google avatar

Julee K.

Yelp
I've been going to Stanton Tailor Shop for years, but infrequently. They did previously do decent job with hemming my jeans, plus their price was less than other places. But recently the last 2 dresses they hemmed are truly dreadful. Also their price seems higher than I remember. Right now I am looking at the newly hemmed my favorite dress and lament. It's all puckered looking. I truly regret not taking to the one I went to last summer in Midtown. You see the one in Midtown hemmed the dress the first time. It was totally professionally done, but I wanted it shorter and thought I'd save $ by going to Stanton Tailor shop. The guys there are nice, but I totally won't recommend others who want to fix their favorite clothes!!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Jason Y.

Yelp
Wow! So I had the (mis)fortune of buying a quite expensive suit at a department store and then losing a significant amount of weight. Since I have a few job interviews coming up, I was distraught that I wouldn't have my best suit. I even considered ponying up for a new suit, since I didn't think the old one could be saved. However, the guys here worked their magic beautifully. I had the sleeves tightened up, the shoulders reshaped, the silhouette tucked, and the pants taken in. The whole shebang cost $125; a fraction of what I would have been willing to pay. It took about 3 weeks to get the job done (due to the holidays), but I'm now looking good and feeling like a BOSS! (Note that you also must pay like a BOSS, as Stanton Tailor only takes CA$H)
google avatar

Amelia P.

Yelp
I love Pablo! I get junk that doesn't fit off of ebay all the time. Mostly I buy dresses that I have to have cut entirely apart and then put back together. I do mean stuff like make him cut off the collars and lower the waist. Everything is ALWAYS perfect. And SO REASONABLE. But, yeah, try going early-is on a Tuesday or something. It's BUSY.
google avatar

Ben E.

Yelp
A few Saturdays ago, I brought seven pairs of pants here to be hemmed one of which also had to be taken in at the waist. After waiting outside for a while until they opened the shop I tried them on one after the other, each time being measured carefully before changing into another pair. The owner was a very patient and friendly guy. So far, so good. In spite of such careful measurements and patience I realized a few days later as I was trying on the pants at home, that only three of the seven pairs had been hemmed appropriately and that the pair to be taken in was now much too tight. I hadn't gained any weight during this time, so... ...If you are looking for a cheap, friendly and crowded place this is a sure bet. If on the other hand you don't want to risk having to take your hemming elsewhere to be salvaged, don't bother going.
google avatar

Joan H.

Yelp
Is it crazy that I'm bumping up my review from 3 to FIVE FULL STARS?? Well, the thing is, I'm willing to accept my past experience as an odd fluke, and I take some blame for not getting the whole dealio quite... And Pablo is simply the best! He really does have the best eye, and his prices are great. I recently brought in a silk shantong dress that required careful handiwork and precise measurements to get the 1) hem taken up (not that difficult), 2) bodice taken in (very difficult) and 3) cups inserted and bust taken in (also difficult). All this was done for around $70 (not sure now, as I did it in two parts and with lots of time in between) -- much less than most of the dress shops would charge (over $100). You wouldn't be able to tell that the dress had been altered. The thread was perfectly matching, the cups (I had to provide these myself, but you can buy them easily in the fashion district) were hand sewn, and all stitching looked original to the dress. It had to be painstakingly taken apart only to be put back together exactly. Beautiful work. Also, the work was all done in under a week. So I'm sorry I was so petty in my prior review - to get this quality, this pricing, and this turn-around is just not easy! And it's always crowded in here - although once it's your turn, the attention is all yours.

Yelp
Do your expensive designer shirts fit like it's from Express? Pants way too long for your legs? Crotch blowout on your jeans? Pablo @ Stanton Tailor is the guy you need for all your clothing dilemmas! He will make your clothes fit as if the pattern was cut for you. From simple things like hemming pants to more complicated things like taking in and adding darts to a shirt/jacket/etc, you can be sure its going to be done EXACTLY how you want it. And if you're not sure what you want, just ask Pablo and he will give you his honest opinion - he will say if he cannot do something or if he feels no changes are needed. Prices sometimes seem sort of random but they are very fair - and lets be honest, you've paid way more for clothes that don't fit you! Yes, the turnaround time can be quite long sometimes, but thats because everyone there has a specific role and quality isn't compromised for the sake of rushing things out. Oh, and details like french seams on shirts are a nice touch as well.
google avatar

Alex Z.

Yelp
I've been spent like several hundreds of bucks here since my last H&M suit. tailored a ton of clothes: hemming pants, shrink the waist of Jeans Jacket/leather jacket/canvas jacket, single breast buttons changed to double breast...Never been disappointed. Or at least when I was not satisfied, they re-did it until I was happy. As a fashion fanatic (sort of, special high demand for fitting), I like this place
google avatar

Bergdorf Brunette ..

Yelp
I love this place. Yes, even Bergdorf Brunettes want a good deal! There are lots of tailor shops in the area, but everyone here is friendly and the tailoring is flawless. Don't forget -- they only do fittings Mon-Sat, 10-6 -- and that means get there before 5:30 if you don't want to be crushed!
google avatar

Stephen T.

Yelp
Excellent alterations, but the store just feels tiny and cramped. There is usually a line out the door, too. The worst part about it is they have the craziest hours. You have to make sure to call them the day you plan on going because you never know if they'll be open or not. I was planning to bring in a pair of pants to get it tailored but when I called them last week they said they were only open on Wednesday. One day out of the week... are you kidding me?! Again, they do excellent work and the one time I went, they took in my suit jacket and hemmed my pants beautifully for a very reasonable price.
google avatar

Rosi R.

Yelp
I have been going to Stanton Tailor for over 4 years now and bring them a bunch of clothes and winter jackets to hem. They are friendly and do a great job and have awesome prices although, you can get cheaper pant hemming in the neighborhood for $3-4 . As for complicated tailoring, I would trust my clothing with these guys. The only problem is their hours of operation; you never know when they open or close.
google avatar

Daniela J.

Yelp
I wish I could give Pablo 6 stars. First, Pablo is cheap. Easily half the price that you'd pay for similar service elsewhere. Second, Pablo is a great tailor. He puts a lot of care into fitting your garments and then they are executed perfectly. He will tell you when he thinks an alteration is crazy. He is in the business because he loves it, not because he wants to make money. Third, Pablo is a genuinely nice guy. I have been going there for five years. Whenever I come in (less frequently now because I am no longer a student with oodles of time) he always asks me where I've been, how I'm doing, how my husband is doing. One time he made a mistake on a hem on a pair of jeans (not his fault, total miscommunication) and he asked me where I bought them so he could get me a new pair! Of course I didn't let him but how many tailors would do that? The one downside to Pablo's excellence is that everyone knows it, and everyone comes on Saturday with their entire wardrobe to benefit. Seriously, people come from the Bronx with like 18 dresses from Ann Taylor Loft that are 6 sizes too big (I am not making this up). Pablo's on Saturday is not a place for the impatient. Bring a book and a snack and be prepared to wait.
google avatar

Craig Z.

Yelp
Went a few years ago to have some pants taken in. Very good work. The work they did outlasted the pants. Felt like a good price too. They are very busy, so the customer service suffers a little, but not a big deal.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
I bring clothes here even though it's not in my neighborhood, because the prices are reasonable and you really feel that you've put your precious clothing in the hands of a confident, genial expert. btw: you can only get fitted Mon-Sat, 10 - 6.
google avatar

Ariel S.

Yelp
Pablo is awesome- super friendly, lots of personality, and does excellent work. Visiting the shop is generally a very good experience. On the flip side, it kills me that they have such a weird, inconsistent schedule, not to mention it can be impossible to get someone on the phone to figure out what their projected hours are for the next day... As a result, I even poked my nose around the neighborhood looking for a good alternative- one with a bit more dependable schedule (a place opened before 11am?)... needless to say I got burned, and I am re-pledging my allegiance. Now... if they could just hook a brother up with some more availability...
google avatar

Noa B.

Yelp
From one time experience yesterday, I immediately like this venue for that sheer speed of service - hem while you wait! Just a Jeans but hey we live in NY, a city where time weighs a little more than anywhere else, I was almost shocked to see they did the job in 10 minutes. Then while I was being amazed, a lady came in with pants, maybe more delicate fabric ones but they told her to come back in 2 weeks. hmm.. that moment I felt like I became an easy prey, like we men are just simple creatures, never difficult to please..? my point is, I liked it. Go for it.
google avatar

Davis K.

Yelp
My go-to tailor shop in NY. This is where I bring everything from basic dress shirts to jeans to very expensive coats. This is the finalist in my search for a tailor that involved checking over 10 different tailor shops on the island. To date, I have probably brought them: - 5+ dress shirts - 5+ dress pants - 10+ jeans - 3+ blazers / suits - 1 incredibly expensive coat and they have yet to make a single mistake (don't want to jinx it). Staff is always very friendly. The wait time is around 2 weeks and it is CASH ONLY.

Yelp
Had a R Lauren linen blazer tailored here. They did fantastic work. Walked in- got pinned- and a few days latter received the jacket. Perfect Fit!!!! I've tried taking expensive suits and blazers to at least two other tailors in the LES. On a recent visit to a rival they took an expensive suit, lazy pinning (the most important first step!!) I had to go back three times and the jacket is still too small. These guys did the work quickly and correctly. I am a believer and will be back. Just wish I had found them before the competition F#$%d up my Etro suit!
