"Located on top of Kaunispää Mountain, Star Arctic Hotel is situated in Saariselka in the Finnish Lapland Region. Each room features large windows to view the surrounding nature and if lucky, the Northern Lights during winter. A shared sauna is also available. Rooms include a flat-screen TV. Certain rooms feature a seating area for your convenience. You will find a coffee machine and a kettle in the room. The rooms are fitted with a private bathroom. Extras include bathrobes and slippers. A mix of traditional Lappish cuisine and modern dishes are available at the on site restaurant. Wine tasting are also held on site next to the fireplace. There is also a gift shop featuring Sami handcrafted goods. A selection of activities are offered in the area, such as skiing, husky and wildlife safaris, and ice fishing. Spent a great few days at the hotel over New Year. Such a unique location on top of the hill above Saariselka. The rooms we chose were cosy, warm and comfortable with great views out over the village and beyond. The hotel itself was excellent. We ate well with a great mix of food and drink and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Would recommend the activities. We did a couple (the reindeer guides at the wilderness centre were great fun and very informative about their work). It takes a bit of getting used to with the lack of sun and short days plus the weather was very cold during our stay, however it created such a unique environment in the snow (the hotels snowsuits also work really well) and we were so lucky to see the views at their best and the northern lights each night. Such a great trip.

We had a fantastic experience at Star Arctic Hotel. The staff were extremely professional, attentive, and helpful with everything. Although we had to wait about 20 minutes for check-in, they immediately invited us to the bar and offered complimentary cocktails. Due to a minor room-type confusion, they also kindly provided us with dinner, which we truly appreciated. Even though we had a very early check-out, they prepared a takeaway breakfast for us — such a thoughtful touch. Yes, the prices may seem high (and they are), but the overall experience absolutely justifies it. We highly recommend staying here — especially in the brand-new Aurora Suites. My wife and I were truly pleased with our stay, and we hope you will be too!

Took the room with scenic view. 2 Rooms with heated floor at the ground level. Bed on loft. Nice and warm. Overall satisfied. Short walk to Saariselka Ski lift, works as a good way to return with ski pass). Can rent toboggan to go down the trail to Saariselka ski resort without taking the bus. Bus shuttle specific times only. A tad of a bummer to skiing as first bus to ski resort is 11+ and last bus back is 3.30am.

It was a beautiful stay, really magical arctic wonderland. The staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional. Personally loved the location but it might not be for everyone — the road from hotel to the Saariselka center is some 2.5 kilometres. For me, it was an opportunity to enjoy some lovely winter scenery, but the return uphill can be a bit challenging if you're not in good shape. If this is an issue however, there is a (pricey) taxi option as well as ski bus that's 6e for the whole day, so definitely shouldn't be a deal breaker. Long story short, Star Arctic is absolutely the place to be if you're looking to immerse yourself in out of this world arctic experience.

Wow as soon as we arrived we knew we had made the right choice with this hotel, it’s absolutely stunning and the views are incredible . The biggest toboggan run at the side of the hotel takes you down in to the skiiing village which was so much fun , all the trips were no longer than 20 minutes away which was perfect . All the trips arranged via the hotel were so well set up. Cozy bar with seating area which is lovely to come home to after a day trip, all the staff were amazing . We would definitely reccomend.

Exceptional stay. Great acomodation, perfect for our family of 5 (Two lodges) comfortable spacious acomodation and the sauna was a great addition. Parking on site also. |Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, a special mention for Nora in the activity team, we spent an afternoon with her and she went above and beyond to make things special for us and our children, she spoke with great knowledge and love for her local area. |Restaurant was comfortable, staff are really friendly and helpful. Breakfast is buffet with a good selection, dinner menu was very nice, we tried reindeer under the recommendation of our waiter and it did not disappoint. Half portions of the menu were available for children as well as a specific children's menu. |We did encounter an issue at the start of our stay however it was acknowledged and managed with utmost professionalism. Would highly recommend and will most definitely return again.

We stayed in the room with a private sauna and bathtub. It was lovely and very comfortable. The private sauna was great after our day time and evening winter activities to warm up. The included breakfast is nice but nothing special. The hotel does provide you with very warm thermal snow suits, gloves, boots, and mittens which is great for staying warm during your stay. We came right after Christmas so the prices were extremely expensive (about twice the normal cost) which was unfortunate. The staff was very helpful and the snowmobile tour and husky experiences were wonderful. My favorite part of the hotel was the hotel manager’s alaskan malamute. She’s so friendly and hangs out in the reception area.

An amazing team with an incredible experience. We bought the package and were not disappointed. Everything was so well organised, we could just enjoy! Did not have to worry about food or equipment as everything was included in the package. A very wonderful trip that has left us with great memories for life!
