We mobile ordered our drinks and ended up waiting an hour. Considering it was game day, we were super polite because we knew it was pretty busy. When we kindly asked if our drinks were ready (when the app said they were), the young woman was super rude to us and just ruined our whole morning. her name was kenn. and i suggest she doesn’t work customer service if she continues to have a hot temper with customers who were nothing but kind.

Rachel Zheng

Google
Despite it being game day today, the employees were very communicative about my order! I waited a while for my drinks, but Kenn, Liz, and Yani specifically were very nice about my wait, and I understand that they were very backed up. My drink was really good when I finally got it too!

Alana Manges

Google
I will say I am never going to be returning to this location again. As lenient as i was considering its game day, we still waited for over an hour and a half. As nice as i was, i did not expect to be treated like complete trash by the employees just by nicely asking for an update on my drink. I asked these two employees, Kenn and this woman who didn’t have her name tag on who’s hispanic and has blonde hair. They angrily threw the stuff around to make my drink after the third time asking because the app said it was ready. I truly think these individuals should not be working at this kind of company and in this environment considering their behavior. To top it all off, i ask the woman without a name tag her name and she walked off very rudely and starting talking bad about me to the other coworker who was also very rude. I have never had an experience at any starbucks that has made me feel like i had to watch the employee make my drink because i was afraid they would spit in it. Disgusting behavior and extremely disappointed.

babyaj cool

Google
The drinks was like heaven on earth and the ms Kennedy that took care of my order was the best she was nice spoke clearly attentive and was friendly and i love that from a person everyone should see ms Kennedy as an example of what a Starbucks employee should be

Needed coffee. I don't usually do Starbucks, but I know about Pikes. This location is in a basement attached to the Sheraton that use to be a bank. Built 1913. Yeah I asked. Went downstairs and fell in love with the ambiance the decor gives. I could of hung out there all day with a good book and coffee. Just visiting the area so this was a surprise find. The service was pleasant and courteous. Only 2 people so be patient...worth it. Thanks Ladies. Oh yeah, very clean.

Robert

Google
It's been a while since I've been in this particular Starbucks, so I was pleasantly surprised when I visited a few days ago. It was still this clean, cozy spot tucked under the Sheraton. If you like places that are not as bright as some other local coffee houses, here's the spot for you. It's the kind of spot that feels more like a hideaway. Oh yeah, the dirty chai was decent as well.

Google
We always love this location, but the few times we have recently gone, the atmosphere is quickly shifted. We don’t know if they're management but one young lady has blue hair and the other wears a hijab, and they come off rude and abrasive. Today we saw it towards the other employees. These ladies may not realize it but they take the atmosphere way down. Even some of the employees moods completely changed. Customer service at anytime is important, and especially on a busy Saturday. Work days can be rough but kindness cost nothing.

Yelp
My favorite Starbucks location for relaxing and enjoying a Caramel macchiato! Lots of comfy seating, tables and a fireplace. Located in the historic Palmetto building, the ambiance and details of the building make this a special stop!

Brooke S.

Yelp
I usually don't write reviews but I had an awful experience today. Each and every single staff member today had nasty attitudes, especially the one with pink hair. They definitely did not create an inviting atmosphere. The coffee is low quality compared to other Starbucks in the area. I'm convinced this place stays open purely on the convenience of the location. They also don't accept cash. If I could give this place negative stars I would. Do not waste your money on this place. Go to Nible they are friendly and the coffee is higher quality.

Yelp
This location is constantly out of the featured drinks, and it's in a dated, dark location, so I try not to go to it. However, I was in the area and decided to do a quick drink order online. When I arrived at the time the order was estimated to be ready, it was nowhere to be found, so I gave it another 10 minutes before I politely asked if the baristas could check on my order status. Two baristas were standing around, and the third one was wiping down a machine and said she would get my order after I had seen her make the orders of a few customers who ordered at the counter after I had arrived. This location also doesn't call out orders by name - they call out orders by the most vague part of the drink (i.e. an oatmilk chai latte was just called out as "latte"?!?) - so there was a lot of confusion. In the end, the barista just slid my drink as far away as she could from me (I was standing at the bar counter at this point since I had been there 20 minutes), then glared at me, and walked away without saying a word or calling out my drink. At least the drink was up to standard, but needless to say, this still remains my least favorite Starbucks location.

Yelp
Poor service. Made our sandwich wrong and refused to fix it. Rude employees that did not care to fix a simple issue
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of the most unique Starbucks locations I have ever been to. It's in the basement of a very old hotel, and it's decorated according. The service was quick, and my drinks and food were perfect! The baristas were also very nice. This might be a franchise Starbucks, so the points might work differently. I am not sure.
google avatar

Molly R.

Yelp
Really cute place with delicious drinks and amazing service! I've never had a single bad experience here. Everyone is always so nice. The drinks are made correctly and the bathroom is clean. It's an amazing spot for a Starbucks and it's fantastic.

Yelp
It's a only a "Starbucks" in name. They do have Starbucks coffee and food. But beyond that, is where the similarities end. For starters, they do not take mobile orders. Forcing you to stand in a very slow, long line most parts of the day. On my most recent visit, and I've been here many times, it was a pretty cold day outside. I was trying to do a little bit of computer work while enjoying a cuppa coffee. The door to the establishment was propped open creating a constant flow of cold air through the whole restaurant. When I asked if I could close the door they did - for a short period but then it became apparent why it was propped open: the door slam shut every time somebody walks through it. So they propped it back open. (Instead of fixing the real problem - the mechanism on the door that allows it to close slowly) some of this dysfunction may be a result of the hotel that it is connected to, the Sheridan by Marriott. We were staying in this hotel and the Wi-Fi didn't work either. And nobody really seem to care. Could just be a general lack of management and ownership. All this said if it's a cold day don't plan on camping out here and enjoying a cuppa coffee. Your coffee is going to get cold and so will you.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Had a very updated exterior with a really nice staff. I did not go inside. Coffee was good, I got a grande latte with one sugar. The drive-thru line was fast.

Yelp
Love how the Starbucks is built into the hotel! Was a chilly morning and very convenient to be able to mobile order and pick up my drink on my way out of the hotel that morning. So the building design is awesome. Plenty of seating for waiting or just a casual coffee break. I got the same drink both my visits there and it tasted different each time that was kind of disappointing. The service wasn't the best, not your normal Starbucks cheer! It wasn't poor service just a bit lackluster, the personal touch was missing. I don't think I was greeted other than placing my order

Mike C.

Yelp
Dang....slow as molasses on a cold winters day. It doesn't help to only have TWO baristas. Anyone reading this...if you see people sitting...skip this place and walk down the street because that's the line of folks ahead of you. College peeps...if you're studying at the 'bucks...the wait is meaningless. Took longer to get coffee than to eat a meal next door...‍

Kevin M.

Yelp
Lot's of staff. Not many customers. Still can't fill orders correctly! Tey can get coffee but they can't remember to get your oatmeal or anything else. But, they certainly make sure the get that tip before they don't get your oatmeal.

Yelp
I went here Sunday morning to grab a medicine ball tea and a frappe for my daughter. The location gives me basement vibes but in a good way. It was extremely cozy inside. There was a lot of space and not over crowded like most coffee shops! This was the first Starbucks I have been to that have that Reserve coffee.
google avatar

Corryn H.

Yelp
Love the underground coffee shop and the overall feeling. Cozy. Does require you to go down steps

Terrance L.

Yelp
If you are homeless or trying to get on your feet avoid this place I been homeless for a year and I come here everyday and get on my iPad before I go to work I pulled Doubles at work for 3 days straight with no sleep and they manager saw me fall asleep he told me to pack me things and leave I bought my items every visit when other homeless people go in there and pans handle they staff at Starbucks love me they always say good morning TJ sand when I leave they say Have a good day at work TJ the manager was really rude and uncompassionate about my situation

Milton G.

Yelp
Great coffee, outside of my hotel, and very friendly staff! My coffee was hot and fresh.
google avatar

Yelp
The atmosphere of the location is great. There is a lot of seating and space to have a meeting or sit by yourself to get some work done. The staff is courteous and prompt, not overly-friendly but that's personally preferred for me. The coffee tastes as expected. I travel a lot and product consistency is important to me. However, I was severely disappointed when I tried to use my points for purchase my drink, I was informed that the location "doesn't take points because they aren't a corporate location". I have literally been in Starbucks across the country in multiple scenarios and settings and this is the first time I've ever heard of that. The ironic accent is all of the advertising in the store encouraging customers to sign up for the rewards program. Why encourage customers to sign up for something at your location that they can't use? Soured my experience. Management should seek to rectify this issue.

Branavan K.

Yelp
Do not go on holidays apparently the baristas are too hung over to operate a register.

Yelp
This is a unique Starbucks, located in the basement of the Sheraton Hotel. It's a steep climb down the old stairs, but once you arrive is very beautiful inside. Lots of seating from long and high top tables to couches by the fireplace. Staff is always pleasant. There's also seating outside on the street corner. Great for a weekend stop in downtown Columbia.

Yelp
This is the fanciest and most impressive Starbucks of Columbia! I went to this Starbucks after checking out the Sheraton hotel, which this Starbucks is attached to. Entering from the outside, you go down a set of stairs and enter this HUGE Starbucks like it's a different world. It's a lot bigger than most Starbucks that I've been to. It really feels like a New York city or other big city type of Starbucks because of how big it is and how elaborate and fancy the interior design is. There are columns with mirrors on all four sides, a fireplace, lots of different couches and sofas to sit on, deluxe modern decor, and very welcoming environment. The wifi here is pretty fast and there's a lot of seating so this would be a very good place to chill or do homework. The service here is good and the baristas were nice and friendly. I usually order the Double Chocolaty Chip Creme or Caramel Brulee Creme Frappuccino which are my favorite. Overall check out this Starbucks if you are in the area! It's a good place to study and do homework.

Yelp
Just went to buy gift cards at the door at 3:50 supposedly they close at 4pm now. NO sign etc and it is locked and lights are off. I am done! Staffing issue or not at least post something I walked from my office.

Jen P.

Yelp
This place is pretty bad. I'm not a fan of Starbucks to begin with (bitter bad coffee, they promote the over-sugar-ification of everything, their prices are laughable for what you get)...but this place ugh. The staff are nice enough but there are several "homeless" types hanging around asking customers to buy them breakfast. I did this once with a guy because I felt bad for him. Then later as I was checking out of my hotel (The Sheraton is connected the the Starbucks) I heard him bragging to his friend about getting food out of me while he ate it. He didn't realize I was standing in earshot. These guys are pretty bold. They just straight up ask you to buy them a breakfast sandwich and tell you exactly what kind . Anyway, avoid this place. Go to a local coffee shop I'd love to see less starbucks in American cities.

Benjamin P.

Yelp
One of the coolest, but poorest managed Starbucks I've found across the US. Awesome venue. Often has broken equipment and out of standard stock items - meaning cannot fulfill much of the menu items.

Yelp
Staff was very rude, wait was long. Both of us got wrong drinks. I ordered a pink drink, which consists of 4 ingredients. They handed me a cup of ice and coconut milk. When I asked if it was a pink drink, the woman shrugged and walked away. I took a sip, and nope, definitely missing 3/4 ingredients. Asked them what was up, and after several moments of whispering????? To each other??? They said they were out of the ingredients, and that was the closest they could make. Legit just iced coconut milk. I said no one told me when I ordered it?? And she said she forgot. I asked if I could get a refund/a different drink whatever was easier, she said 'no, sorry, we have a lot of people waiting'. So I tossed the $5 unsweetened, cold coconut milk in the trash and left. These people were so rude, so mean, they stared at me and legit made faces when I asked for a pretty standard drink, and then KNOWINGLY (she tried to slip away after handing it to me without making eye contact) handed me just a glass of milk???????? Legit the WORST Starbucks I've ever been to. The only reason this has ANY stars is because it had a cool vibe to the place.
google avatar

Joy T.

Yelp
Quick lines at this Starbucks. Lots of sitting room usually full. They did talk through the menu explaining some new items. We bought some great Christmas clearance mugs and coffee. The stairs going down to this are a bit steep. Someone with stability issues might not want to tackle them. I did enjoy the atmosphere here. A quick walk from the Columbia museum.
google avatar

Abby J.

Yelp
Place is really pretty but their team needs to work on better communication with both the customer and themselves. I ordered two drinks and they were both made wrong. I'm a Starbucks partner so I knew they were made wrong and for some reason you can't even use your partner discount or mark out.
google avatar

Yelp
Pros: - location - decor - historic building - ambiance - cozy - friendly staff Cons: - underground

Yelp
Stop by to grab SC coffee mug, only to find out Starbucks don't make one for South Carolina, very disappointed, they need to make one! Love the settings of this Starbucks, def one of the best I've been to. Very classy and relaxing & staff were friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of the best Starbucks I've ever been in. It's down in the basement of the Sheraton Hotel and it makes for a cozy environment. There are tons of tables and chairs for sitting or working. It's easy to hang out with friends. The staff is easy and smart about their coffee and the passion is felt. I can highly recommend this location. FYI it is not a corporate store, so the Gold card benefits are always honored at these types of stores.

Ken P.

Yelp
This location is way too slow. Why open at 7am?! Open earlier. Don't open with a line of people out the door so that someone sitting waiting for you to open has to wait half an hour to get their coffee. Black coffee with an espresso shot took me a half hour to get
google avatar

Stephen R.

Yelp
This Starbucks has the best vibe of any starbucks, hands down. It's in the basement of the Sheraton hotel, so it has a speakeasy feel going for it that's helped out by the fireplace, leather chairs, and vintage lighting. This place is so unique I actually recommend it as a tourist spot to visiting friends and family.
google avatar

Roger Y.

Yelp
This is really a nice Starbucks. Located in the basement floor of the Sheraton on Main, it used to be a restaurant - so it's large - one of the largest Starbucks I've been in. I love the dark wood decor. Plenty of comfortable seating and very fast free wifi. Staff seemed on the ball and eager to please. First rate.

Ted C.

Yelp
One person working.... At 710am.... Drink was cold and wrong (instead of hot and correct) but the person working was dealing with a line of 16 people and looked like she was trying her best to not explode. Not her fault, unless she is the owner. Do better.
google avatar

Christina W.

Yelp
What a lovely location! After spotting the Starbucks logo on the outside of the building, I ventured to the basement. The layout is beautiful. There were a few students on their computers. The customers service is nice and the outside patio is perfect for days like this.
google avatar

Hannah T.

Yelp
Still a great location to get coffee in downtown. There arebanxouple of entrances and managing thebstairs may be a hassle, but the ambiance is worth it. The place isnclean and dimly lit and itnis very intimate. Maybe a great first date locstion...
google avatar

Tara J.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning location Probably my new favorite place in Columbia to hide and drink coffee. From the windows to he walls, this place is amazing. The baristas are friendly and the coffee is excellent. I absolutely love the smell of this place
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
Good service for a cold and rainy day. Clean place. Not many customers but probably beat the church crowd.
google avatar

Carlas W.

Yelp
I've been to a number of different Starbucks locations across the country. My wife and I experienced the worst customer service by far today. We waited 5 minutes to order. There was no one ahead of us and the store was not busy. The cashier basically ignored us. No greeting or anything. We decided to go to a locally owned coffee shop instead.
google avatar

Sally M.

Yelp
Great underground spot! Located in the bottom floor of the Sheraton, it is beautifully decorated and the staff is wonderful. A hidden gem, for sure
google avatar

Rebecca W.

Yelp
The staff here is exceptionally polite! They are truly a breath of fresh air compared to indifferent Starbucks locations across Columbia. Here you always are greeted with a smile and treated like a friend. They have always been accommodating when I have asked for something a little unusual. The basement location has been beautifully turned into a Starbucks. The dark wood decor is very sultry and there is plenty of seating options ranging from high top tables to traditional huge tables to comfy couches. A wonderful place to study or spend some time. The stairs going down are a tiny bit treacherous so if you need more assured stability just go inside the Sheraton and take the elevator one floor down.
google avatar

Emely H M.

Yelp
We went to this Starbucks after the flea market & the Pride parade. I ordered venti ice caramel macchiato & the cashier informed me that they don't honor the Reward program because they're franchise under Sheraton Hotel. However, she said she'll give us the free drink anyways! KUDOS to the management team & awesome customer service! Unfortunately I didn't get the cashier's name... she's efficient & courteous! THANK YOU AGAIN!!!

Manasa B.

Yelp
I loved this place for its atmosphere.. Also very neatly maintained.. it's quite compared to other shops..

Sydney S.

Yelp
This Starbucks was very disappointing. More than of half of the drinks on the menu were unavailable which gave me very few option on what to order. The employees were all extremely rude and disrespectful
google avatar

Alanna H.

Yelp
I'm so tired of this place. I work next door but this Starbucks never has all the ingredients for drinks and just doesn't put them in and never tells the customer. For example, my coworker and I went in to day and got 2 drinks: a Salted Caramel Mocha Frapp and a Mango Dragonfruit something. They were out of the salt for my Frapp and the lady almost didn't even put the dragonfruit in my coworker's drink because they were "almost out". What kind of service is that? It's bad enough they charge extra tax for "hospitality" because they are in a hotel. But they could at least try. The one star is for how nice the location is.

Kurt E.

Yelp
I've been here twice and I'm a diehard Starbucks fan but these people just don't like their jobs. There are 14 people in line and 1 barista working while 2 others stock shelves????
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
Good service and clean place. Stopped by after church for a caffeine spark. Quiet today, probably due to rain and tornado warnings
google avatar

Duffy T.

Yelp
Talk about a sad Starbucks. Unhappy staff... poorly made drinks and long lines. My latte was only half full and the coffee cake was stale. Y'all need new mgmt here!
google avatar

Danielle C.

Yelp
Lots of grumpy gills working there. They're always out of stuff. How do you run out of iced coffee & cold brew?! Additionally how do you not know what a PSL is? Won't go back, to Drip it is!!
google avatar

Fani G.

Yelp
This Starbucks is SUPER nice. I was surprised with how big and spacious it was. Nice seating everywhere and the staff was super nice and helpful. My drink was just as any other Starbucks, but I would definitely come back to hang out for a while and enjoy my drink.
google avatar

Aumer H.

Yelp
I didn't like the test of caramel macchiato, I give 1 of 5 to the drink. The service is not starbucks standard, I give 2 of 5 for service.
