If you're well traveled and know how to protect yourself from silly scammers (more specifically the ones you read about at Central Station), this is an excellent hotel to stay at if you plan on having a multi-city vacation or want to stay close to the Central Station. It is literally across the street from the station, which makes it incredibly accessible to the trains and also the metro. If you want a more touristy vacation, then consider staying elsewhere such as near the Duomo.
Aside from that, the hotel itself is really safe around it. Many business travelers come here and the front desk is fluent in English. We had no issues checking in with Expedia reservations. Be sure to ask for your wireless passwords, if you are buying it or if it is included in your reservation. You will need to log on every time you return to the room and it lasts for 24 hours.
The Junior Suite is a good room, but a little oddly laid out. The bathroom shower stall is also EXTREMELY tiny; my husband could barely move around let alone spin, so if you get easily claustrophobic despite being in this suite, it will be small. The rest of the bathroom is spacious and well done (well lit mirror for makeup, bidet, heated towel rack).
During our second stay here, we were upgraded free of charge to the Suite. WHAT A ROOM. If you have flexibility in room types, definitely get this one. It includes a terrace that overlooks Central station. The room lets in a lot of sunlight and has a ton of living room space. Even more, the bathroom has a full tub and plenty of room. The only downside and caution is that the tub has a half swinging glass door; it looks like it is secured, but it SWINGS. Beware, as both of us nearly fell out of the tub when we leaned on it. I wish they put up signs as this is a HUGE HAZARD.
The gym is almost always empty, and only contains one treadmill. The elliptical was old and very difficult to use. The biciycle works just fine. There are assorted weights and one lifting machine. Inside the gym there is a bathroom and free drinking water. It also is completely surrounded in glass and you get a view of Central Station.
We had big bottles of water appear in our room during both stays, but were unsure if they were free. Only minor hiccup was our card not working a couple of times for our room. Otherwise, the housekeeping was on point and cleaned our room literally every time we left the room. We left things scattered and nothing was ever taken. Breakfast is large, and you have choices of egg/bacon/sausage links as hot food items, a bunch of fresh baked goods and salad/fruits. There were also fruit juices and bottled water. Ask a waiter for coffee if you want some.
Check out is effortless, and you will need to pay daily city taxes.
