Visited today for the first time. Daughter wanted to vintage shop. We found this amazing place and got some great finds. Staff/owners were so friendly. Can't wait to go back.

Google
Very eclectic collection that was surprisingly affordable! (somewhere between Goodwill and Boutique $$) Loved their earring selection

Did business with these folks through their instagram account from accross the country! I saw a product in one of their Reels that I had to have. I messaged their account directly through their inbox. They shared the store's venmo account, and the items were sent within two days, along with a tracking number being sent to my instagram account. Three days later, I had my new favorite knickknacks. I am one happy customer. The person I spoke to through the instagram account was very kind, and the things I got were super clean (which isn't always the case when you buy vintage!!!) And packaged very carefully with lots of bubble wrap. If you're not local but looking for unique wears, maybe give their account a peek!

Google
Great place. Great style and merchandising. Maybe the best organized and decorated vintage store I've ever seen. Excellent merch. Reasonable prices. Quality stuff and owner to match. Well worth a special trip

Kara Garner

Google
I am in love with this shop!! They had such cool and unique items! You could tell the owners really cared about getting full collections and one of a kind knick knacks. The prices were mostly reasonable. I will bring all my friends here!

Nancy

Google
Awesome vintage clothes and collectibles! I visited after a HUGE restock of NOS, and they were incredible. Great selection of vintage media, magazines, etc., as well.

Stephanie Santiago

Google
Loved this place from the moment I walked in the front door. Tags have their decades on them and everything is very well organized. Someone also has a respectful love of cats.

Stacie Jasorka

Google
Along with having eclectic items at reasonable prices, this cool store also raises money to help feral cats! Definitely one of the better vintage shops in the Nashville, TN area.

Deb S.

Yelp
Such a great store and lovely way to set up so easy to look at everything. I felt like I was stepping back into my childhood and of course had to bring something home with me. The people who work there are just ultimately so sweet and so nice I highly highly recommend this store.

Claire P.

Yelp
Cool store if you really like vintage post 1950s! Well organized and decently fair priced.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Cool little stop. It's more on the quirky stickers and jewelry side. Lots of cool older lingerie and some new finds as well. Vintage retro games and wigs, also some rather unique furniture as well. Not your typical antique store.

Brad E.

Yelp
It is a super well-curated shop that has a great assortment of pop-culture nostalgia, vintage clothing and antiques! I left with some cool lapel pins and a vintage cigarette ad. These were the kinds of things I was hoping to find and it did not disappoint. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed all of the cat shirts on the racks and the framed wild cat paintings adorning the walls in the clothing section. If you love shopping vintage and stumbling across random cool things, this should be a stop along the way!

Coti H.

Yelp
Officially my favorite vintage store in Nashville! The woman working was SO lovely and they had such amazing pieces (and there are two dressing rooms!). The prices were fair and there's a plethora of stuff - women's clothing, men's, tons of women's hats, bags and fun decor! I left with some amazing pieces including the two-piece set I found. Will be going back - A LOT.

Amy R.

Yelp
So much! And so unique! It isn't cheap but very affordable. Great for hard to find items you didn't even know you needed!! Clothes, buttons, linch boxes, etc. staff was super friendly. Even the other patrons were fun! Definitely recommend

Whitney H.

Yelp
This place was amazing. It wasn't exactly "thrift" prices. More like "upscale vintage/consignment" prices with thrift store quality. They had all kinds of cool shit though. Vintage Barbie Dolls, books, vinyl records, posters, jewelry, furniture, shoes, prom dresses, beer glasses, etc. Any crazy thing your heart desires (and some things you don't even know that you want) can be found here. My pink and silver glittery cupcake earrings (see photo) are a prime example of the aforementioned.

Raven J.

Yelp
Bury me in my Pre to Post Modern accessories. PTPM is a goddamn national treasure. Speaking of treasure, if you, like me, are drawn to shiny objects and constantly have to hold yourself in check to not grab shinies and trinkets and create a giant magpie-esque mountain of glam in your home, you will love this store. The jewelry, accessories, and little trinkets in this store killed me. From Wednesday Adams to Dolly Parton, Pre to Post Modern has you covered. The vintage clothes will make you cooler than Loretta Lynn. The badass and stylish furniture will turn your space into a vintage hodgepodge of awesomeness. 10/10 will vote for Dolly for President.

Katie S.

Yelp
Lovely time adventuring at at Starland vintage. Bought some iconic pieces and had a great time chatting up the staff and owners! Can't wait to come back on my next trip!

Kelsey D.

Yelp
Great selection of vintage clothes and housewares. Especially awesome stop if you are looking for some unique Nashville souvenirs. I've found some amazing clothing items here (and I have a hard time finding my size in most vintage stores). Friendly staff, masks available for purchase and hand sanitizer as soon as you enter.

Christine D.

Yelp
Such a fun store! Great selection of mostly vintage clothes and so many fun pieces of jewelry. Some cool local Nashville pieces, plenty of Dolly Parton memorabilia, and a good collection of furniture. While it's pricier than your average "big box" thrift store, the pieces are super unique and seemed in good shape. Highly recommend for a slightly upscale thrifting experience.

Edward C.

Yelp
Overpriced and rude. Not a place I could recommend. Plenty of other record stores in the area that are reasonably priced.

Elise Dixie Jane M.

Yelp
This place is all about, ORGANIZATION! Even though I didn't need any clothes, searching through the highly organized racks was a breath of fresh air. Don't get me wrong, I love digging through any vintage/thrift store. However, the color coordination and such helped someone, such as myself, who knows what they like or need. Sure, I'm open to all colors and styles, but when visiting, it helped me be able to hit the entire block of stores instead of just one. (I'm known to stay in stores for hours searching). So, thanks, you helped my noggin and decision making. Also, the vintage furniture and goods were lovely! A genuine spot to hit!

Karen P.

Yelp
Coolest store ever!! My daughter is obsessed with mid-century kitsch and fashion and this place has that covered for sure! I joked when we walked in that it looked like the inside of my daughter's brain. Clothes, accessories, home decor, jewelry, stickers, records, books, and so much more! You just have to experience this place to believe it. Wonderful staff too!

Mateo G.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite spot in Nashville. I've been to a plethora of vintage stores, and this one was just a gem. In a town like Nashville catered to certain sensibilities, this place was the light house for me providing so much to took at and get for myself. I left with my hands full and enjoyed every moment in this place. It clearly is curated and ran with a lot of style and intent and is an ideal spot for this kind of business. The staff was great too. Super helpful. Great mix of random and novelty. Definitely recommend for anyone who visits the area.

Madison P.

Yelp
A little pricey, but really cool stuff. Starland offers truly vintage pieces, feels like going back in time when you walk in. If you love a funky find, this is your place.

Jerie H.

Yelp
Really neat place, a must place to go to if your in to nostalgia. They have purses, shoes, gowns, toys , women and women clothing. Lots of Michael Jackson things. Old lunch boxes. Just a great place.

Julia W.

Yelp
Amazing unique pieces. One of my fav places in nashville. If you love vintage get ur butt to this shop.

Emily S.

Yelp
Such cute stuff and unique stuff, worth a stop for an vintage fans. Not all of it is vintage as saw some really new clothing but a lot of cool pieces. You could browse here for hours. Only four stars because customer service is a little off, kind of felt like we were bothering them by checking out and it was a little chaotic w/ them only half paying attention so it look longer than it needed to and they forgot to ring up items because they were kinda scatter brained. It was super minor and it seems like this is an amazing gem.

McKenzie S.

Yelp
Vintage shopping can be very hit or miss, but very fun when it's a hit. Having visited a few other vintage stores in Nashville and being shocked by the $300+ price tags on clothing (that wasn't even in great condition), this place was perfect. It's not a huge store, but they have everything. Clothing (men's and women's), shoes, jewelry, furniture, records, etc. The prices are pretty good all around. A dress will cost you roughly $30. Furniture is very mid century modern. I think they sell stuff pretty quickly so every time I go in there is something new. If you're into vintage, you have to give it a try. Staff is friendly and helpful. It's hard to walk out without finding something. If not for yourself, then a quirky gift for a friend.

Owen R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the unique layout and quality selection of new and mostly old items. So often antique shops are drab, repetitive.. this was not. Bought quite a few things.

Alexis B.

Yelp
A fun vintage/consignment store that specializes in 50's mid-century modern design. We visited Pre to Post Modern to find a table or dresser that would work as an entry table for our new house in Nashville. We didn't find what we were looking for - but we found something else: an old TV cabinet that had been re-purposed as a bar. It's a one-of-a-kind piece that is a story when people come over! Pre to Post Modern is great - it's one of those stores where you won't always find something you want, but every once in a while you find a gym. So many homes in Nashville are 50s mid-century modern (we just bought one), and Pre to Post Modern has pieces that fit right into the style and character of those homes! Try it out!

Rachel P.

Yelp
Love love love. My new go-to place for vintage fashion and accessories. It's decorated so cute, and I loved the incense wafting in the air. Fun place for a girls outing, I came here with my friend from LA and we adored it. So organized and affordable. You really gotta dig for the goodies, I found this Mickey ring on my third trip around the store, somehow missed it the first two times!

Kathryn A.

Yelp
Visiting in Nashville and fell into this place. What an amazing cool spot. If you like vintage stuff, this is the place for you. Prices are reasonable and you can get a lot of bang for your buck. I would totally recommend it. Have fun shopping!

Alexa S.

Yelp
LOVE love love. Visited a few other shops and got discouraged, wasn't able to find any matching sets of mid century two tiered tables to use as nightstands. To my pleasant surprise, Pre to Post Modern had two beautiful sets to choose from! Both were amazingly priced. The staff graciously got them all ready to load into the car and chatted about what other furnishings we needed. Left the store wanting more and will definitely be back!

Annabelle A.

Yelp
Horrible customer service! Unprofessional and rude for no reason. A couple of weeks ago I emailed them the following question: (Direct quote) "I was wondering if you sold any personal merchandise at your store (like shirts or bumper stickers with your name/logo/images on them). I am looking for something to include in a gift. Thank you!" Here is the response I received from Karen Hollywood: (Direct quote!) "No , we aren't into such.....and that is NOT a very good gift. Who in the hell would want such cheap clutter for a gift? Not me !!!" I had intended to get a client a gift card from the store with what I asked about, but obviously they won't ever be getting my business.

Yelp
Starland Vintage pops up when you search for thrift or junk stores in Nashville, but it is neither. Real thrift stores and junk stores require rummaging around looking for treasures and being amazed when something is found. Starland Vintage has already done the rummaging, and all of those amazing finds are neatly organized here, and are ready for you to purchase. For example, Starland has a bountiful collection of bare boobie salt 'n pepper shakers. They aren't cheap, but they are a fair price for a fun vintage find. Check out a LARGE collection of very vintage Playboy magazines, or take home a mid-century OB-gyn exam table. Go wild and take home the bare boobies, the Playboy boobies, and the exam table....seems like they would go together well. You can also find vintage clothing, housewares, a couple of lovely furniture pieces, and much more to thrill your vintage heart. Again, great store...just don't go looking for thrift or junk.

Marcia M.

Yelp
The inventory at Pre To Post Modern is very eclectic and stocks some really kitschy knick knacks and housewares and retro furniture too. They have a nice vintage clothing and accessories area too. The prices are fair and with a little digging, you can find some real treasures. The staff greets you but generally leaves you to your own curiosity which I appreciate. This is a great spot to pick up a gift for someone who adores vintage or retro goodness or who possesses a fun sense of humor!

Robin S.

Yelp
This used to be a place to find only retro furniture, but now one of the 3 rooms is full of really cool vintage clothes, shoes, gadgets, and accessories. I found a wallet that I convinced myself not to buy today, but I keep thinking about it so might go back tomorrow--it's an honest to God, original Sea World plastic wallet in mint condition--the kind I KNOW I owned when I was six and thought it was the best thing. Complete with coin purse and mirror. It was $12, which is probably about $11.50 more than my mom bought it for 25 years ago, but hey--inflation. Other cool things I like, besides the Sea World wallet, are all the retro furniture. One room is all new and special order, but with a funky retro feel. Another room has actual used furniture, but all in good condition. Super cool place in the 8th Avenue antique district--if you're in the area, check it out!

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Found some cool items, super nice staff. AC was broken so it limited our time inside considering it's July. Good selection of clothing and knick knacks. They do have a dressing room with mirrors be it a bit hap hazard today with the AC situation. Cool coffee shop next door as a bonus. Good prices compared to some others. $20 - 40 on most items we saw.

Patrick R.

Yelp
I can't believe I'd never been into this place before...and it's probably a good thing it's a new discovery, because otherwise I'm sure I would have already spent hundreds of dollars there. Pre to Post Modern (as indicated by its name) is full of both completely neat vintage furniture and clothes as well as very modern, beautifully designed new furniture and art. On the right side of the store are what you might call "Pre-Modern" wares. They have old ashtrays, dining room sets, Western shirts, posters, ceramic figures, paintings, typewriters and more. Most of this stuff is relatively inexpensive, and you can find everything from amazing old Beatle boots to ashtrays straight out of the '50s shaped like camels. On the left side of the store are the "Post-Modern" items. These include very cool chairs (shaped like everything from dogs to crumpled pieces of paper), lamps, clothes and more. Most of these items are more expensive than the vintage goods, but I wanted to buy everything there and decorate my house with it. In addition to home decor items and clothes, Pre to Post Modern also has some records, books, lighters, and belt buckles. Their staff is very hip and friendly, and their prices are pretty affordable. Today I bought a large, super modern-looking ashtray/trashcan for $18 and a small "citrus" ashtray (shaped like an orange) for just $5. There were about four dozen other items I was interested in (including an original circa 1976 poster of Farah Fawcett for $20). GO TO PRE TO POST MODERN, but be prepared to leave having bought several extremely cool items.

Lendi H.

Yelp
Love this place! The best vintage shop in Nashville!! They have such a awesome variety of vintage clothing and accessories! They provide a dressing room to try on your items which i think is awesome. The store was really clean and decorated awesomely! And the lady didn't stand over our shoulders like at most vintage shops. I recommend stopping in and finding One-Of-A-Kind pieces to add to your wardrobe!!

colleen m.

Yelp
Helpful staff. Lots of fun stuff to choose from. Nicely displayed. Will be back as we found some good treasures.

Kelly E.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this place! Such fun antiques, and such friendly helpful staff! Our favorite place to shop for home decor, and very reasonably priced! Highly recommend!

Naomi W.

Yelp
I chose to visit this store after stopping by 8th & Roast since the two are so close. I was expecting more of a thrift store but this place could also serve as an antique/nostalgia store. It has a lot of clothes, that would probably take a few hours to sort through if you really wanted to see everything they had. They also had a lot of vintage trinkets and memorabilia. This would be a great place to shop for a gift for someone who likes those sort of things. I ended up getting two pins for my collection.

Connor K.

Yelp
Heads up: no refunds or exchanges of any kind because "[they] have so many vendors", or whatever that means.

Shelby W.

Yelp
I live right down the street and pop in frequently on my down time. Though the shop is small it is very easy to get lost in! If you're shopping for unique and vintage furniture/ home decor it's almost certain you'll find a gem. The middle room has tons of fun and timeless toys and gifts. The shop also includes tons of handmade, local jewelry and rooms filled with QUALITY one of a kind garments that aren't over priced.

Kamille P.

Yelp
What a great vintage consignment shop! The store is fairly large so there's a huge selection of items from clothing to furniture. Among their stock everything was very organized and in pretty good condition. All the clothes appeared clean with no noticeable damage. Though nothing in particular caught my eye, I definitely enjoyed myself perusing this charmingly eclectic store.

Melina B.

Yelp
What a wonderful shop. I found Linda upfront so pleasant and helpful. I left w awesome silver boots , sunglasses and a pin for only 30$. They are full of treasures

Evan M.

Yelp
I'm not a vintage junkie, but this lace is just plain fun. The selection and quality are great and the prices seem really low/fair. We went in with two of our kids (ages 17 and 20) and the four of us had a blast. So any fun clothes to laugh about, try on...we even bought some crazy stuff on impulse and didn't break the bank. Staff is friendly. Layout is not claustrophobic. When we're back in Nashville, we'll be back.

Grace A.

Yelp
We love this place and when I say "we" I mean me and everyone that I bring here. The owner and staff do a great job of keeping this place unique and awesome. Pre to Post is not your typical antique store... No digging required. Everything is presented in a clean and appealing way. However this doesn't mean you won't spend awhile browsing so you don't miss anything. The stuff is mostly mid-century modern and it's all in great condition. The only complaint I have is that my apartment isn't bigger so that I can buy more :) Another tip... Their prices are great and they definitely set them fair so they don't come down as other antique stores might.

Jill S.

Yelp
Such a cool shop! Lots of unique pieces to chose from. Clothes, jewelry, sunglasses, purses, just to name a few things. Bought myself a souvenir necklace and ring. Prices are excellent. Check it out.

Tiffany M.

Yelp
Very cool shop. We stopped in to kill some time and found a lot of very neat things. I thought things were fairly priced and the store is very nicely curated. Lots of unique items and a lot of cool history. I loved the local items and even fell in love with some things that weren't for sale. I'm sure we'll come back the next time we need to find a cool gift or something funky for our place!

Benji B.

Yelp
Love this place. They have everything from really vintage to nostalgic. Lots of classic country memorabilia as well, it's the perfect spot to stop if you reside in Nashville or are just passing through. I feel so at home when I peruse their vast selection. Please go if you have the opportunity, you will not be disappointed!

Samuel L.

Yelp
Things I have bought at pre to post modern include: Blue Velvet JC Penney Coat that is fucking awesome SuperBowl 14 red button down sweater, also awesome Ridiculously good sunglasses Some sort of argyle hat, fantastic All of these items together were very inexpensive, and Lynda, the vintage shop girl, was extraordinarily helpful. I will be going back to purchase more sweaters, since I am now obsessed with looking as much like Mr. Rogers as possible.

Heather R.

Yelp
The place is so fun! Here's why: a) The Tshirts! A Motel 6 Shirt! A Fryguy shirt! The list goes on. b) That blue couch from the 50s. I'm in love. c) The Pacman painting. You have to go see it for yourself. d) The Lassie children's book. The outside looks like an old bowling alley, but on the inside you get a nice mix of old and new things. They have papers saying what can be bought, so I assume they are willing to buy older stuff from you, or at least someone through them is. They had a few item from A Christmas Story still hanging around, although I assume with Valentine's Day fast approaching, those may not be around too much longer. If antique stores are too stuffy for you, you still need to come to the 8 South area and have a look around this place.

Sarah C.

Yelp
What a super fun shopping experience!!! After months of passing Pre to Post Modern I finally had the opportunity to stop in. The incense was a tad overwhelming but I'd rather incense than moth balls and it sort of helps shape the experience of going back in time. The free treats (raspberry brownies) were fabulous as well. The shop is basically three rooms: clothing, accessories, and home. The clothing and shoes are in such great condition and have been picked incredibly well. Dresses and coats seemed to be priced between $45-75. Going through the jewelery was similar to days spent going through grandma's jewelery. I love the furniture displays and the art is to die for. There are endless options at Pre and Post Modern and you can certainly find unique gifts. Their LP collection was quite impressive as well.

Sunday G.

Yelp
We went here after a gal at Third Man Records recommended it, and we loved your selections. The prices are steep at times but you're destined to find some keepers tucked away. Plus the variety of items are wonderful and the staff is kind. Worth the stop and shop!!

Katie B.

Yelp
This is the best place I've found for quality vintage housewares at great prices. I've been coming here for about 10 years and the quality and selection has remained top notch and the prices have not risen - that is what makes this place stand out in Nashville where more and more antique/junk stores have sold out to the MCM craze, charging sky-high amounts for basic vintage pieces. And let me be clear, this place is NOT a junk store. Their pieces are clean and polished and looking their best. Pre to Post Modern is small, but their inventory changes very frequently. I've bought several pieces of furniture over the years, and I'm always stopping in to see what's new. I am very sorry to read some of the negative reviews regarding the owner and customer service.... I have never had a bad experience, personally. It's true that there isn't an overwhelming sense of customer service, but when I'm getting a fantastic piece of vintage furniture in mint condition for a steal, it's hard to complain.

Ian R.

Yelp
I love this little shop. I guess the best description would be kitschy. Full of 50's style goods and great furniture that is straight out of your grandmothers basement. Just walking into this place makes me want to pour myself a cocktail and go hang out by the astroturf tiki bar. The prices are sweet especially compared to their neighbors. If you dig the vibe of what the future looked like in the mid century then I think you will be very pleasantly surprised by Pre to Post modern.
