Starlight Pines Bed & Breakfast

I booked this house as a place to stay before a Grand Canyon Rafting trip. I missed some email updates regarding payment of the second deposit. Dispiste contacting Airbnb and immediatly paying the full amount of the rental I lost my deposit. ||I was given a token amount of my inital deposit dispite the terms stating that 50% was returnable. Airbnb customer services and Evolve were of no use. The owner does not care. Only the cleaner seems to work. (Ana was really nice).||I assumed that by completing the booking the owner would deal with me fairly. They did not. I will not use Airbnb in the US again. ||I say again, stay away from this property.

##DO NOT BOOK THIS HOUSE!## This address is no longer an Airbnb. It is run as a short term accom. Booking this address was hands down the worst and most expensive experience I had during a six week trip to the US. I am hugely out of pocket from booking and staying at the house and am still attempting to seek financial remedy.

We had a fantastic 2-night stay at Starlight Pines! The owners were so friendly and accommodating, had great suggestions for local things to do, and prepared delicious breakfasts for us. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and had all of the amenities we could have wished for. It even had a shaded balcony which was great for relaxing and taking in the view. The common area downstairs was very cosy and great to sit and read in. We had to leave very early in the morning on our last day, so Maxx very thoughtfully prepared a delicious breakfast to go for us. We will definitely stay here if we are ever in Flagstaff again!

We had an amazing one night stay at Starlight Pines B&B (and wish we stayed for much longer!). The owners were very friendly, greeting us at the door and helping us with our luggage. We stayed in the Lily room which was beautifully decorated and extremely clean. This room has its own private balcony as well! We loved all of the sweet snacks and beverages that were available to us throughout the stay. Morning coffee service was offered prior to a delicious breakfast that we enjoyed on the front porch. This was the most relaxing getaway!

My wife and I went here for our anniversary and it exceeded our expectations. First, the hosts Maxx & Monica were the nicest owners we have ever experienced in our 50+ years of traveling. They were friendly, attentive, and informative. Second, the accommodations were first class for a very reasonable price. This included not only our room but a lovely front porch where we not only had our breakfast, but also just sat outside in the afternoon and evening . Third, the breakfasts that Maxx made were different every day and delicious and very filling. Finally, I left my wedding ring in the bathroom the morning we left and Maxx texted me within an hour that he had found it and was mailing it to my home. What great service. If you are ever in the Flagstaff area you will do yourself a disservice if you don't stay here. One thing to note, they do not have televisions in either the bedrooms or living room.

Prepare to feel totally pampered when staying here. The rooms are delightful and have wonderful ambiance, one with a wood-burning fireplace and another with an electric fireplace. The beds are very comfortable and have the most luxuriously soft sheets. The rooms have the quaintness of olden times, with a claw foot bathtub and Tiffany lamps, but with all the modern amenities. The breakfasts are delicious and there are always freshly baked cookies and chocolate candies available to satisfy your sweet tooth. Max and Monica are great hosts and make everyone feel at home and truly spoiled.

My husband and I had a lovely 1 night stay. The new owners greet you at the door and provide a friendly welcome. The room and bath were large, light and with all the amenities. We had a king 4 post bed that was very comfortable. Breakfast on the front porch was very tasty; they even accomodated my husbands dislike of eggs.||It was everything you hope for in a B and B stay. Would happily stay at Starlight again.

Wow, this place is amazing! This is by far the best service I have ever experienced at any place I've stayed, and the room was clean, wonderfully appointed, and comfortable. We were welcomed with freshly baked cookies (gluten free for my husband!), provided with numerous dining recommendations, and shown around. The room was so comfortable that my husband and I opted to stay in all evening and have a romantic dinner at the table in our room with the fresh flowers that were in our "Lilly" room. My favorite part about the stay was the early morning room service of coffee and pastries that preceded breakfast, but breakfast was astounding in its own right! Custom souffles to meet our dietary restrictions, parfaits, and copious amounts of coffee were promptly served as we chatted with other guests. Max was an exceptional host and it would be a tragedy if you didn't stay here while visiting Flagstaff.

Update as of October 2023: I'm pretty sure this place is now closed for some reason. We've been trying to call and no one answers the phone. I've tried to make reservations, but you cannot do that online. We were in Flagstaff last weekend and we drove by but there were no cars. I have no idea what has happened, and it makes me sad to think that this place is possibly shut down. If anyone knows what anything, please post.

We spent two wonderful nights at the Starlight Pines Bed and Breakfast and couldn't have been more delighted with our stay. The owners, Max and Monica were so welcoming and friendly. The home is beautifully decorated and spotless and it is centrally located. All the amenities, from the breakfast pastry and coffee delivered to your room to the amazing breakfast served later to the excellent recommendations for sight seeing and so much more, made our anniversary trip very special. We will definitely be back and recommend it to all our friends and family!

We stayed here a few years ago and just revisited it last two nights. It's even better than I remember! Maxx the host was the most amazing host...he cooked delicious and beautiful breakfasts each morning with a beautiful spread. I'll post photos. Rooms are enormous with fantastic en suite bathrooms! High ceilings 11 feet make the rooms luxurious. The absolute best B and B we've ever stayed in. You will be very happy.

The place to stay when visiting Flagstaff! My boyfriend and I still wanted to celebrate the new year but safely, and we received just that at Starlight Pines. Maxx and Monica did a fantastic job at following CDC guidelines; there was sanitizer when you entered the front door and in our room. They were more than accommodating to our late arrival, especially on NYE. We had fresh made brownies waiting on arrival, with a coffee/tea bar in the room. Breakfast each morning was delicious and we were more than satisfied. Maxx recommended a delicious wood fired pizza spot (Fat Olives) and local hikes that wouldn't be so crowded. Our room, the Lily room, was just what we were looking for. Cozy, quiet and comfy. The private porch view was incredible and I loved the electric fireplace. We can't wait to return in the summer/fall and even next winter to ski!

A highly recommend stay with a wonderful couple who run and host the B&B. Covid-safe and well designed and maintained place!

This is a jewel in the mountains. What a wonderful getaway . The breakfast is amazing and the rooms are decorated beautifully . We recommend this B and B. The swing on the porch will have you resting and the train whistle makes it magical . Great hosts makes this an excellent choice .

The Best Bed and Breakfast Inn EVER!!!! My husband and I stayed over the Christmas Holiday in the Dragonfly Room!!! The fireplace was Wonderful, fresh logs everyday. Max and Monica are so Wonderful, they treat you like family!! Love talking to them. We have planned our next stay in February for our anniversary. I love the Ambiance and the quietness. As we get older big hotels are just too much, and this was cozy, quiet, and the Food Was Amazing!!! The bed and bathtub were pretty comfortable and nice as well!! Max and Monica You Will Always have our 5 Star Review!!!! Thank you so much for a memorable weekend! We look forward to many more!!!

If you are looking for a special getaway or just a quick overnight stay, you have to check Starlight Pines B&B. Maxx and Monica are so welcoming. We choose Starlight because of the reviews and the Covid safety measures they have in place. We arrived to a welcoming greeting from mascots Luci and Lilly. They had a sanitizer station where you are offered slippers. Hand sanitizer,etc. A special bottle of wine and some of Maxx's special treats waited for us in our gorgeous room. Each morning we had the "House Special " coffee and danish delivered to our room. This was followed up with a 5 star breakfast you would expect at a high end hotel. The first day we were there we had to leave early and Maxx packed our breakfast to go! In the evening they even sent us a list of dining options. Our stay was truly amazing. Especially in these crazy times. It was a great place to catch our breath without the worry of crowds and Covid. We will most definitely be back.

This is definitely the best B&B I have stayed in my life! When my husband and I were exhausting on finding a place to sleep in Flagstaff, finally we meet Richard and he gave us the amazing Dragonfly room. That is very nice room surrounding by a quite area. Moreover, Richard' breakfast is FIVE STAR with organic fruit and vegetable. Really lovely experience and wish we do have chance to visit again

My husband and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago for our anniversary. Maxx was a wonderful host and his Grand Marnier French Toast breakfast was delicious! The bed and breakfast was perfect with all the details of a Victorian era house with modern conveniences. We will definitely will put this on our list of places to stay again the next time we're in Flagstaff!

I stayed here last month for a night with my girlfriend and I wish we would have stayed for the entire time we were in Arizona. Maxx made us feel as though we were his only guests (he was all booked up so we certainly were not). The rooms were cozy , immaculate, and and had plenty of privacy. Best part of the stay was easily the coffee service and gourmet breakfast. It was simply amazing. Cannot say enough great things about Maxx and Starlight. I will definitely be back.

Starlight Pines B&B was fabulous. As my first time staying in a bed and breakfast, I was not sure what to expect. Maxx and Monica were MORE THAN accommodating. They have thought of everything - rooms have noise machines, wonderful ambiance lighting, luxurious clawfoot tubs, and they provide everything you could need for your stay. The breakfasts were INCREDIBLE. Maxx and Monica provided great suggestions and tips on where to go explore, eat, and relax. 10/10 recommend and would stay again.

Absolutely lovely bed & breakfast with super friendly owners and great dogs. Beyond deluxe accommodations and accoutrements that's a perfect fit for homey, yet upscale Flagstaff and made the stay a pleasure.

This was hands down the best hospitality experience I've had. Maxx, Monica and their two beautiful dogs are truly the perfect hosts. The place was spotless and the protocols they have in place for Covid made me feel very safe while still being able to enjoy the charming inn. Breakfast was fresh and delicious and Maxx's homemade brownies are addictive! I was mostly blown away by the hosts' desire to give their guests the best possible stay in the area. On the morning I was leaving for the Grand Canyon at 5:30am, Maxx and Monica sent me off with hot breakfast sandwiches and snacks. Another afternoon, I wanted to check out the local thrift stores and Maxx put together a guide of his favorites in town. I ended up extending my stay by two days because I truly felt at home. Can't recommend this place more!

Stayed here for an amazing weekend with my boyfriend. Maxx was beyond amazing in making sure we had everything we needed. We stayed in the dragonfly room that was warm and cozy with a lovely wood burning fireplace. Can't wait to go back again would definitely recommend for a relaxing romantic stay.

This was my second stay at Starlight Pines. My besties and I stayed in the Peacock Room for a Friday-Monday Yuletide retreat of intense reflection, and Monica and Maxx pampered us throughout our stay! Fresh baked brownies arrived on Friday night followed by coffee and pastries at 7-ish each morning, followed by an enormous, amazing breakfast at 9-ish each day. The Peacock room has three windows (two to the South, one to the West--not to mention the window in the bathroom!) and is delightfully cozy. The weekend we planned for ourselves was enhanced immensely by the warm hospitality of Monica and Maxx. They are some of the friendliest people you could ever hope to meet, and they tell great stories. The house itself is large and chock full of cozy furniture. One of my favorite parts of the house is a fireplace in the common sitting room, and I spent a bit of time there journaling and petting the very enthusiastic and friendly Lily, one of Maxx and Monica's two dogs. In this pandemic season, we all removed shoes in the front entryway and wore slippers provided by Monica and Maxx; we also wore masks in common areas to minimize risk, and breakfast was delivered to our room rather than shared in the breakfast room like my last visit. Looking forward to returning next year.

We stayed at Starlight Pines B&B this weekend and truly did not want to leave. Our room was absolutely beautiful and so very cozy! We stayed in the Dragon Fly room and the beautiful fireplace was so relaxing at night. The location is absolutely perfect and close to downtown and everything else. The breakfast's in the morning, and Maxx's brownies were incredible! Maxx and Monica are the kindest people and made us feel so comfortable. Their precious pups made us feel so at home too. Everything was spotless and they were covid conscious. We are already planning our next trip back!

We stayed here earlier in the year and had a great weekend in Flagstaff! The owner was very friendly and made sure we were happy the entire trip. Breakfast each morning was delicious! The location is just a short drive to downtown - not quite close enough to walk but still close by. Overall a great deal since it was only $382 for two nights.

My girlfriend and I needed to stay in Flagstaff, and another Marriott seemed too boring. I asked Siri "Find me highly rated bed and breakfasts in Flagstaff Arizona", and Starlight Pines was at the top of the list. We called and they let us reserve for our arrival in two hours, and do a late check out. The Dragonfly room is really nice, with a nice wood-burning fireplace. It also kept the room warm. Richard, one of the owners, is very nice, and his two dogs (Musu (sp?) and Baxter) are also. Musu is my favorite, a mellow 16-year old Shitzu. Breakfast was a delicious home-cooked, 2-course meal. They're very accommodating to dietary needs as well. The room was also nicely decorated with antiques, and spotlessly clean. The owners obviously take pride in their home. The free wireless access was also very good (we needed a late check-out because we had to work) - strong signal in the room and in the living room and dining room. About 7MB down, just under 1MB up - enough for my girlfriend's video conference to run smoothly.

Beautiful bed and breakfast with great hospitality! Richard and Michael (and Baxter) were great welcoming hosts and provided us with directions and suggestions on places to eat and things to do. The house is kept immaculate and it's so cozy! 4 of us (adults) stayed in the peacock room and it was quiet and comfortable! The breakfast and coffee in the morning was delicious (thanks Richard!). This is definitely a bed and breakfast I would highly recommend to everyone!

I'd give it 6 stars, but can only give it 5. Richard was outside doing some upkeep and he greeted us as we pulled up. We got the grand tour, seeing the thought put into the business. It was spotless! When I got there, it was a little chilly (not the business's fault). I turned on the radiator and it took a while to warm up, but it got warm, a little too warm (again, not the business's fault, I just really need to learn how to use a radiator). Breakfast was great! He goes to Safeway every day so the guests can be assured to be getting fresh food. Coffee was freshly brewed and there was a huge selection of teas to pick from. We got to chat with Richard a lot throughout my visit and he was quite pleasant, as were the dogs. Also nice was the stash of incidentals (I forgot my toothbrush).

My husband and I adored the Starlight Pines!! Not only is Richard an incredible host, he is such a beautiful person as well! He made us feel very welcome in his wonderful B and B!! Breakfast every morning was such a treat! The room was absolutely charming. We felt like we were staying with family. Beautiful views from our private balcony of Mt Elden. I hope that we can stay here again before he sells it!

I came up with a couple friends for a birthday and picked Starlight Pines because the price was good and it had the best reviews.Richard and Baxter were welcoming hosts. We stayed in the Peacock room, played the board games and had a complimentary bottle of champagne. I thought breakfast was incredible. The first course was a baked grapefruit with brown sugar, banana, and blackberries. The second was a cheese and egg souffle. Richard was friendly and informative about helping us find whatever we needed, like dinner recommendations and a place to go sledding. We'll probably stay for my friend's birthday next year too.

A great place to stay in Flagstaff. Very clean, comfortable big rooms. Big bathroom. Cozy robe. High ceilings and big windows. The proprietor is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious. We will definitely stay here again, next time we're in Flagstaff!

From the warm welcome from Maxx and Vice President Lucy to the little details in the gorgeous Dragonfly room, this was hands down the best overnight stay of any hotel it B&B we have ever had. The breakfasts by Maxx were so delicious. The room was comfortable and quaint featuring old world charm with modern conveniences. Don't pass up this gem in the cool pines of Flagstaff!

Definitely will stay at Starlight Pines again! Very clean and friendly atmosphere! My husband and I really enjoyed the room with the king sized bed. The new owner made us feel very welcome and was very informative with sites to see in the area. We were also served an amazing gourmet breakfast. Thank you Maxx and Lucy for a great stay!

We have never received hospitality like Starlight Pines B & B. From the moment we walked into Maxx and Monica's beautiful place we were treated like family...spoiled family that is:) There were brownies in our room, and even gluten cookies for my husband. Maxx asked that before we leave from dinner we text him so he can light our fire (we stayed in the Dragonfly room and would recommend it for the wood burning fireplace). Such a nice touch to have that going when we got back. The first morning he had written down all his favorite hikes... which he is super knowledgeable on. And before we left he had to-go brownies and waters waiting for us. And let me get started on the breakfast! With Covid it is delivered to your door. A two part breakfast starting with coffee and pastries and then a full blown amazing breakfast. My favorite was the spinach, onion quiche with bacon and a fruit parfait. For three days we didn't eat lunch! They think of everything in your stay from bath salts, to bath bombs, to a sound machine, to a Keurig in your room. Such a perfect retreat and our favorite B & B we have stayed at, and we have stayed at quiet a few. Thanks Maxx and Monica for hospitality at its finest!

6 STARS isn't an option but I wish it was. Richard did an amazing job greeting and hosting us. The home is meticulously kept and the service was spectacular. The food was amazing. Richard served us, gave suggestions, and asked if there was anyway that he could help (several times). I couldn't have asked for better service and the price was great!

Where to begin? There are many words one could use to describe the experience of staying at this treasure of an establishment: intimate, special and rejuvenating all come to mind. However, the word that truly encapsulates how it feels to spend the weekend at the Starlight Pines is magical. From the moment you arrive at this Victorian-style home you are immediately taken aback by the hospitality and welcoming grace of Richard and Michael (and lets not forget their faithful helpers, Mushu and Baxter!). Everything else in this wonderful bed and breakfast simply flows seamlessly from then on. From the meticulously clean rooms to the Victorian era fixtures throughout the house, there is a cultivated consistency of ambience that will make you feel as if you've been transported to a different time and place. Richard and Michael keep an extensive and eclectic collection of literature for guests to admire and peruse. I was delighted to find an edition of "Cattitude" - a bromidic collection of cat photos, with accompanying aphorisms from said cats - laying on my pillow upon arrival to the "Peacock Room"! The attention to detail here cannot be overstated. The claw foot tubs, turn-of-the-century optical equipment and the flagstaff milieu all serve to make this a a truly special retreat.

We LOVED this place. Being full time students and working we were in desperate need of respite however, we weren't going anywhere without our Lil Coco. The guys were so friendly and accommodating and just fabulous. Loved this place, the location, decor, etc. There's too much to say. Please stay here!!!

Stayed here for a weekend and it was perfect!!! Great owners. Nice playful dogs. But the breakfast was perfect and very delicious. Thank you for making my fiancés birthday a great one.

Why would you ever stay at a chain motel when there are people that are passionate about providing great hospitality.

I had a great experience at this charming B and B. I stayed in the lily room upstairs which has a small balcony that looks out onto Mt Elna. Very nice to sit out there first thing in the morning with coffee or tea. The B and B is off the main road in a nice residential area. Great patio out front. Richard, the owner, was so warm and friendly. For breakfast, I had a huge fresh fruit parfait with an egg/bread casserole. Delicious! Please let all your friends know about this great place!

Incredible, friendly service, super clean, and great old furniture and nic-knacks. Not sterile at all and quite near main roads (while remaining very quiet) - totally recommend it!

Starlight Pines is the best. Super comfy bed, amazing breakfast, and the most friendly of hosts (Richard and Baxter the dog). Clean, warm, and inviting, it made for such a lovely getaway for my husband and I on our first trip to Flagstaff.

Our stay at starlight pines was so memorable and relaxing. Richard the inn keeper made us the best breakfasts, they were very tasty and healthy. Our room was very clean and Art Decor was the decoration of our room. Richard was knowledgeable about the sites and restaurants in the area which added our decisions. It was very affordable, we will be back to stay at Starlight Pines.
