The Starlight Theatre has been calling to me like the drums in Jumanji ever since I first heard about it years ago. After spending 4 days at Big Bend National Park, I finally had the chance to take a well-needed break here, and it was everything I hoped for.
I was a bit nervous about how crowded it would be and heard it could get packed without a reservation system, which did feel a bit finicky at first, but I decided to just go ahead and grab a seat at the bar. The primary bartender was a super nice dude, and helpful, and the rest of the staff were equally friendly.
The bar crowd was an interesting mix of locals and regulars--definitely an eclectic bunch, but everyone was nice enough.
I started with a few ranch waters (Espolon & Topo Chico with lime), and they hit the spot per usual. And the Prickly Pear Margarita was elite.
As for the food, I definitely over-ordered, but after days of camping, I wanted to try a bit of everything. The fried antelope was incredible--definitely the highlight of my meal. I also tried the special for the night, tacos (I think it was either chicken or pork, but I honestly can't remember), and they were fantastic, especially paired with the sweet green sauce.
Can't wait to come back one day, hopefully with some friends or family to share in the experience!
