On the Grid : Manege Museum

"Manege’s building underwent several radical reconstructions and was established as a museum since 1977. Yet the existence of Manege stayed unknown for young generation until 2016 when the museum had a grand reopening with a new conception and freshly rebuild interior. It is now exhibiting modern and contemporary arts from all over the world. The museum has no a main exposition but changes completely when hosting an external one. Check out what’s in there at manege.spb.ru before going." - Nimax

For me, the building was the most impressive part of the museum. When you think you saw the top showpiece hall, there are twenty more to follow. Then the collection is of course substantial as well. It consists mainly of 18th century works, and works that were famous at that time, and early 19th century works. There is hardly anything (if anything at all?) from past 1850. The collection therefore documents wonderfully the artistic taste of the Enlightenment and Empire epochs. Many information texts are in Russian and English, but many also are in Russian only, especially the more recent additions. For tourists without a bank card, the only way to buy tickets is at the cash desk inside, and that takes about an hour and 15 minutes.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely stunning experience. The Hermitage is truly one of the most impressive museums I’ve ever visited. The art, the history, and the architecture left me speechless. I loved every minute of it — a must-see if you're in St. Petersburg!

The absolute best museum in the world, they have different artifacts from all over the world, the Egyptian section is the best with a Pharoah mummy. The ticket is very cheap , around US$6 . It takes hours to see it as it is one of the largest in the world

After that, I went to the Winter Palace, and honestly, I think it was the most impressive site I saw in Saint Petersburg. I haven’t been to Versailles in France, but this place felt like the ultimate display of wealth, power, and artistic taste. The decoration and aesthetic were absolutely jaw-dropping — it felt like every corner was designed to overwhelm you with beauty and grandeur. It’s truly a miracle of human history. I couldn’t stop thinking: How can people be this rich?! And the best part? The entrance ticket was only about 50 RMB. For such an iconic and stunning place, that’s unbelievably affordable. If you’re in Saint Petersburg, you can’t miss it.

One of the world's greatest museum. The masterpieces are simply too many to be listed and you feel almost overwhelmed like in the Uffizi or at the Louvre. Probably a week would be needed to properly admire the main pieces. The lavish interior decorations are a work of art by themselves and contribute to the make of the Ermitage in one of the world's wonders !

A mush visit museum. Give yourself at least 3 hours should you decide to visit the whole place and occasionally read about a few display items. Has many sections of many cultures.

As a museum, it's spectacular and fantastic. The rooms, the hallways, the stairs, the ceilings, every square foot is a piece of art. Needless to talk about, the number of art masterpieces presented in this museum: the paintings, the sculptures, the decors, the ancient items, and more, all that are fantastically amazing and gorgeous One can spend a week coming to this museum every day and taking time to enjoy every piece of art. The only reason I rate it 4 instead of 5 is because of the huge inconvenience that they don't let tourists in with carry-on bags, although, when I called the automated voice message says that there is a storage to leave the carry-on baggages before you enter. So try not to leave this visit to the last day of your trip, because you won't be able to get in with your baggage, try to arrange to leave it at the hotel pick it up later.
