State Museum of San Marino

Some nice paintings, some artefacts, some sculpture. Spent some 60 minutes here, maybe less. The entrance is already included in the ticket so why not the visit. Its 3 floor of exhibition, its not big, not too small too.

I visited this museum on a rainy Sunday, and even with the weather, it was surprisingly quiet, which made the experience very pleasant. The staff gave a warm welcome and were very friendly throughout the visit. The museum is bigger than I expected, spanning four floors. An elevator is available, making it easy to move between levels, and the toilets were very clean. There are also windows with great views of the city, which is a nice bonus. There’s no café inside, but that’s not an issue—there’s one conveniently right in front of the museum. The ground and lower floors focus on the history of San Marino with objects from different periods and materials, while the first and second floors are dedicated to paintings. The collection is diverse and comes mostly from donations—I saw many interesting pieces, including scenes I had never seen before, like the striking painting “Martirio di Sant’Agata.” There are also sculptures, models, photographs, and drawings, giving a well-rounded view of the country’s culture and history. The museum ticket is included in the San Marino ticket or 11 € if purchased separately. Overall, a very enjoyable visit, especially if you like art, history, and quiet exploration.

It's included in the 8-museum ticket of San Marino so you should visit if you have some time. If you do not intend to buy the ticket to the towers and consider buying it just for this museum... don't. It's a nice museum, but visiting takes an hour max.

The Museo di Stato has an interesting collection of ancient artifacts as well as religious paintings. However, it does not explain all too much about the rich Sanmarinese history. Only part of the descriptions in the permanent exhibition is available in english. The temporary exhibition was italian only. If you're into religious art this place is for you. If you're more interested in the history of San Marino maybe not so much.

Amazing national museum. Especially for such a small country. Absolutely amazing. Very highly recommended.

Thorough museum considering the size of the country. None of it looked very exciting though and doesn't explain the history very clearly. However there are 4 floors of relics and paintings and some exhibitions (they had on lunar expeditions when we visited in November 2017). Was virtually empty when we were there even though lots of tourists were on the streets outside. Good value if using the TuttoSanMarino card and the five multi-museum pass (7.50 euros).

The State Museum of San Marino offer a different exhibitions. ancient time, medieval time, midieval and modern painting. Staff is very polite.
