State Street Inn

My partner and I had a truly wonderful stay at this inn! The couple who own the inn were incredibly kind and welcoming—they really went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. They offered a delicious breakfast, and one of the most thoughtful gestures was the goodie bags they prepared for us. They knew we were leaving early in the morning and made sure to leave them out for us ahead of time—such a sweet and personal touch. The inn itself was charming, cozy, and spotless. You can tell they put a lot of care into everything they do. I’d absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, relaxing getaway!

I had an amazing stay here, and the hosts were exceptional! From the moment I arrived, everyone was incredibly welcoming, making sure I felt safe, happy, and relaxed throughout my stay as a solo traveler. I stayed in the blue room, which was not only spacious but also full of character and comfort. I was in town for a music festival, and the family was so accommodating, adjusting to the late schedule for me and the other guests. The house itself is beautiful, with a clean and comfortable ambiance that captures the charm of historical architecture, making you feel like you've stepped back in time. Although I didn't explore the town, as I was focused on the music festival, the location is in the historic district and within walking distance to Dover Motor Speedway. The family offered delicious-looking and fragrant breakfast options, though I didn’t have any due to spending most of my time at the festival. I highly recommend this place for its reasonable prices, clean and comfortable accommodations, friendly and accommodating hosts, and overall unique experience. To begin with, Kia gave us the friendliest welcome by showing us not only our room but all the other guest areas with amenities. Our bedroom was stunning, in decor, comfort and size with plenty of hidden space. Very comfortable bed. Bruce went out for delicious pastries every morning which we ate in the sun on the beautiful porch. The coffee machine and fridge of soft drinks was a lovely addition and made us very comfortable. We must say a big thank you to Kia and Bruce for all their help in making our family visit such a special time. The inn itself is a beautiful building and we were lucky to see it in the Fall when the street was decorated for Halloween.

Reviews are totally on point. This place is beautiful and impeccably maintained, the new owners are still as clean and friendly as the last from the sounds of it! Welcomed in as friends, and treated with care. We were visiting on a state capitol tour and stayed in the blue room, and sent on our way with bellies full from a wonderful breakfast and with care packages to boot. Wonderful massage chairs and enjoyable patio for take out after a day of museums and history. I would agree this place is like staying a museum (gorgeous antiques) but also being incredibly comfortable, nice linens and pillows, tres chic! Many thanks!

The B&B is located in a local neighborhood. They have 2 parking spaces reserved on the side of the house in front of the garage. Otherwise, street parking is available. Beautiful home and the owners are very inviting. Plenty of areas to relax as well as on the porch. If you had a rough day, they have 2 massage chairs to reduce the pain. If you get a bit of the munchies, they have some snacks and drinks available at any time. They also have a brochure stand showcasing the local area and Delaware in general. I had the Red Room and it had a very cozy feel to it. There is a TV available for relaxing in your room. The bathroom was spacious and plenty of room for your toiletries. They even had a warming bin for your towels for those cold mornings. From our conversation, if you like birding and the outdoors, Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge is only a few minutes away from here. If in the Dover area for a spell, then this would be my place to recommend.

I loved my stay at State Street Inn! The hosts were very caring and welcoming, the house is beautiful and comfortable. The bed and pillows were just perfect along with the amenities. I forgot my toothbrush...and there was a set in the bathroom drawer, Thank you! Plus breakfast...WOW! I got traditional Asian pancake with egg and hoi-sin, what a treat.And I was sent off with a gift bag of snacks that got me through my next days bike travel. Highly recommend.

Outstanding Stay Outstanding visit. Personable, helpful proprietors. Immaculate charming public rooms and my room, with all conveniences included. Breakfast room is lovely and the breakfast itself delicious. Glad I chose this comfortable inn to a sterile chain hotel.

I stayed here for a couple of days at the holidays, and this place was fabulous. It's run by a couple and their son, and it has four guest rooms, each with their own bath. The rooms have great amenities for the price, and everything has been recently updated (mostly by the previous owners). Alas, I spent more time in my room than I would have liked, because I was sick, but at least the room had everything I needed and was very comfy!

Recently chose to stay at State Street Inn for a night over this past weekend for an anniversary/ Volksbash 2017 event. I have nothing but good things to say about the place. Absolutely charming Inn with historic feel and craftsmanship. Stunning kitchen and dinning area. Great staff and hospitality. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have many amenities. Definitely recommend a stay at the State Street Inn.

Utterly charming B&B in a 1915 Craftsman home. Innkeepers Mike and Yvonne are more than accommodating to their pampered guests. Four beautifully appointed rooms to choose from, good mattresses, nice amenities and wireless internet. I highly recommend this lovely getaway in historic Dover.

Yelp should consider adding a sixth star for this b-n-b. Clean, comfortable, peaceful, and the owners are so accommodating. We had out-of-town visitors and they stayed here; will use it again (and again and again).
