31 Great Things Do in NYC from a Local! (Updated 2025)

"I find the Statue of Liberty breathtaking up close — a massive neoclassical gift from France, dedicated in 1886 and standing 305 feet tall, designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi with a metal framework by Gustave Eiffel — but the real highlight of this visit is Ellis Island, where you can learn about the immigrant experience and even see my family’s name inscribed on the wall; there’s such a great sense of history there that you can’t help but be impressed. You can do a self-guided tour, but if you want deeper knowledge I consider the Take Walks tour invaluable ($69 USD); the island is open daily 9am–5pm, there’s no island admission fee, and the ferry ticket costs $24 USD." - Matthew Kepnes

Every single detail on the statue reflects a lot on the history of France. It is truly a wonder and must be seen by all. If you guys are going to Paris, then please go to the Statue of Liberty there. It is one of the best places to see other than the most famous landmarks.

I was looking forward to get to the Statue of Liberty, but it was overall an underwhelming experience. The park there is kinda dirty and shady, and it feels like it needs some maintenance. The statue is nice but as a pedestrian you really cannot see the face clearly or take a picture with it nicely, still, it was nice to see the iconic statue.

The park leading up to the statue was extremely calm and a nice walk. There is a gym at the end near the statue and we thought that was neat since the space was being used by people! The only negative was the statue was facing towards the water and a bit hard to see because of limited space on the platform, but we could still see her! Not many people were there when we were also, which was a huge perk

Amazing views of the Seine and the surrounding areas. Lovely walk and a quiet part of Paris. The end is the mini Statue of Liberty.

Located at the top of L'île aux Cygnes, (island of swans), stands a replica, of the grand lady, one of many attractions to see during a walk along the Seine.

Slightly underwhelmed at looking at this monument. Smaller than imagined and looks like it's just been plonked at The end of the walkway. There is a outdoor gym next to it and hardly anyone came to see this. Very beautiful but i think it could be better placed so more people might be able to enjoy this statue of liberty🗽

A smaller version of the Statue of Liberty in NY that was inaugurated in 1889, three years after the original one in 1886. Great view of the Eiffel Tower from the island.

One of the replicas of the American Statue of Liberty, but located in Europe. The possibility of having the Statue of Liberty and not so far away the Eiffel Tower is a combination that I like very much. Only in Paris does this happen.
