"Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center on the edge of Faliro Bay is about three miles south of the center of Athens. This is the newest addition to Athen’s educational, cultural, and environmental scene, and the largest construction project in Greece since the beginning of the economic crisis. Besides being the new home to the National Opera and the National Library, the SNFCC hosts a vital green space, ideal for sports, recreational activities, and rest.Paths lined with pine and olive trees lead to the Great Lawn in the heart of the park, which bursts into life during the summer months as a result of festivals and live music events. Invigorate your senses in the sunlit Mediterranean Garden, where evergreen and endemic plants such as oregano, thyme, and rosemary spread their aromas throughout the urban air. The park extends on a 105-foot-tall summit, which is one of the largest sustainable roofs in Europe, and offers 360-degree views of the sea to the west and the Acropolis to the east. Back on the ground, an esplanade, suitable for jogging and biking, runs alongside a canal. The park offers short-term bicycle rentals for children and adults, as well as kayaking lessons in the canal, which must be booked in advance." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Approaching this building from the park in a ‘promenade to a temple’ way is breathtaking. You get to the top almost without realizing how high you are. The view of the acropolis, the coast, and other islands complete the experience. Not to mention the assured sophistication of Piano’s design in the whole building.

An incredibly beautiful park with spectacular views of Athens. Highly recommend as a place to bring your kids. Locals love it and rightly so. The architecture and the landscapeing are truly inspired.

We had a private tour of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center — a multifunctional, environmentally sustainable hub for education, arts, sports, and recreation. We explored the impressive buildings of the Greek National Opera and the National Library of Greece, which houses over one million books, and enjoyed a thorough walk through the beautiful park that surrounds the entire building. The staff was professional and well-organized from start to finish. Our guide, Matina, was not only highly knowledgeable and attentive, but also truly passionate about the center, which made the experience even more inspiring. Thank you, Matina, you truly enriched our visit!

A truly enjoyable experience at Stavros Niarchos Park. From the lush greenery to the interesting "soundpark" installations (a fun way to communicate!), and the stunning views, this park has it all. The numerous cafes add to its appeal. This park even had workout machines and a running trail! Definitely worth a visit!
